Pizza Express in Richmond upon Thames

Disappointing on portion sizes - we left the restaurant wondering if in fact we were still hungry. I hadn't eaten at a Pizza Express for at least a decade and convinced my husband we should give it a whirl. I used to enjoy it and wanted to try it again - this was an itch I needed to scratch. I ordered what I thought was a Buddha Bowl. This dish has found its way onto many menus now and is usually a nourishing, satisfying and filling collection of nuts, pulses, grains and colourful veg. Sadly, I got what felt like a half portion buddha bowl. There was plenty of mindful chewing going on to make sure I was aware of every morsel! On more careful reading the menu does have the Buddha Bowl in the Salad section with a calorie estimate beside it so perhaps I should have expected it to be light on substance. On the other hand, salads can be satisfying, nourishing, delicious and filling - choosing to eat salad ought not to leave one hungry. My husband's pizza was lightly cooked, which I accept some people prefer, but when a lightly cooked pizza is served onto a cold ceramic plate it starts to cool very quickly. The pizza did not feel hot when it arrived at our table. There is no mention of pizza size on the menu - or none we could see. Had we known the standard pizza size was so small we would have ordered a larger size. As I said up top we left the restaurant wondering if we were still hungry and discussing what we had at home to fill the gap. A disappointing experience - but that itch has been well and truly scratched!

the staff was so friendly, and have greatly orchestrated birthday parties for children, the pizza making was delicious and great, the entertainment perfect by marcel who led it. thank you so much for this wonderful day

Fantastic food & service. Staff members were all very friendly and attentive. Dynamite dough balls to start, lovely sauce to accompany them, well worth a go. Chicken Italiano calzone was great, lots of gooey filling, and the prawn peperonata was super. Well worth a visit! Marvellous. Thank you all, the entire team! :o)

I'm very disappointed when I visited the Teddington branch. My pizza came out cold and extremely thin. But what really made me angry was when the bill came and charged us the kids' meal, when it's supposed to be kids eat for FREE in the summer holidays. When I questioned the staff, they responded, "we only take off the kids' meal if ask us too ???? Why prompt FREE KIDS???

The lovely Oksana was so kind and attentive to me and my friend. We got chatting and turns out she was from Ukraine, a neighbouring city to my friend. She is a credit to the team in teddington and we can’t wait to see her soon!

From the moment we were seated, Mo's friendly and attentive service stood out. He greeted us with a warm smile and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations that catered to our diverse tastes. The food was simply exquisite. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It was evident that great care was taken in the preparation of every course, and the quality of the ingredients shone through. Mo ensured our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. ***WARNING Do not bother ordering 'Too Good To Go' bags from Pizza Express Teddington. Rip off merchants. Was supposed to recieve 3 starters or desserts, 1 main and a soft drink. I basically recieved bread....A few dough balls ( 4 to be precise) for £5.99 and waited a really long time too. An absolute joke!!

The food was nice but the service was so painfully slow it spoiled the experience. We actually gave up on waiting for our 3 year old's ice cream after about 30 minutes as it was clear the waitress had forgotten 🤦‍♂️ The only time the staff actually moved quickly was to chase us to accuse us of not paying (cash left on the table with the bill) 🙄 A very disappointing experience from somewhere I would expect better!

It's pricey compared to other pizza places and portion of the pizza size is very small

Had a lovely Mum and son experience here this evening. Very polite and attentive staff even when thought my lime and ginger drink wasn’t limey enough. Big shout out to Arsh who was so sweet and listened to my tales of why we were in the area. They were all fantastic.

A fantastic piccolo party for my daughter and her friends. Elena the Manager at Teddington Waldgrave Pizza Express, went over and above for the event. We were looked after very well, the children were engaged and had fun, the chef showed his skills and the food was delicious. Thank you!

Standard Pizza Express, nothing special. Poor service. It has a problem with charging the wrong bill to the wrong table! Happened twice on two visits, very messy!

The manager was poor. We couldn't pay our bill because he said we had to do it through an app. He then couldn't work the receipt machine after he said we could pay at the till. Took about 30 mins to settle a bill. Only 2 of us in the whole restaurant. The waitress gave us wrong info and the manager said its not his fault that we were given false info. Unbelievable. Very stressful and the manager was horrible.

Good ok. Complete con with reference to the online / not online booking system. Management not helpful in sorting and claimed it was customers fault. Took 45 mins to sort and pay bill. STRONGLY RECOMMEND ALL AVOID. lots of better options nearby.

Good pizza with a thin base and plenty of flavour, and lots of selection

My review is not about a poor experience that we had during our stay. We didn't have the chance to dine in as my booking emails were ignored and I didn't like this way of doing. In order to better understand why I won't give them a chance, I must say that I made a booking enquiry for a Kids Pizza Party on the 16th of December. My query was about a specific day in late January 2024, so, I thought I had enough time to plan and I was giving enough time to the restaurant to deal with my requests. Christmas it's definitely the busiest time and I completely understand that; that's why I've sent them, three day after the first email with no reply, another email asking about our booking request. I've added that I was quite flexible regarding the requested day but I needed to know if the place was available. I've waited for their reply, I've waited and waited. But as I did not receive a reply again, I decided that our guests and ourselves definitely deserve better and we found another place. I wouldn't even need to leave this review but when they finally decided to look into my booking request, it was the 30th of December! No Manager's name, no apology for the delay in the reply in the email that I've received. Just the communication of the available space and then attached the terms & conditions. I politely thanked them (for making the effort in the reply!) but no, thank you. I am no longer interested.

If you’re vegan/plant based then this is the pizza place for you. I’ve tried just about every vegan pizza I can and pizza express has quietly made the best one I’ve ever had. Always been a good place to go, remains so.

Service was OK, a bit slow but OK. Sadly, the restaurant was quite cold on a November Sat evening - I had to eat with my coat on! On a positive, the fur was good and enjoyable as always.

Do not order online from this location. Abysmal service. Wrong orders given to drivers and when you call to try and sort it the restaurant manager will tell you “it’s not his problem”

I always go pizza express but Teddington one was not good at all. I saw a hair in my pizza for 3 times, it was coming from kitchen. I am sure because I dont have long hair and it was actually inside of the pizza. Employees are not checking the foods, I'm not sure if the food is clean. Do not go there! Glasses was dirty aswell. Toielts was dirty too. There was awful smell coming from the toilets. You can go any pizza express except Teddington one!

Food was lovely but what makes a fantastic is the staff. I think there has been a change in staff and the ambiance is incredible and friendly and welcoming thanks to Marcel and our waitress Katie who was lovely and attentive. Thank you

Unfortunately the service was sub standard tonight as server rarely came back to our table and we sat there for 20 minutes after finishing the meal with no one in sight, didn’t receive a dessert menu and had to find one for ourselves and then find a server to take our order.. they are very slow to clean up table that are vacated and not overly friendly.

I would like to say "Big thank you!" Pizza Express Teddington! First time in this branch, but definitely not the last! The food was tasty and service spotless. Kasia met us in seconds after we entered, gave us to choose the table and left us enough time to make our choice. We ordered 2 pizzas, chicken wings and hallumi bites. Food came quite quick and it was delicious! By the way, as always in Pizza Express. Thank you!

I never usually complain, but today experience with pizza express in Teddington was so disappointing. It was so quite when we arrive and stayed there, and staff seems to be to relaxed not bother at all. Each time when we ask for something like to order apple juice, water or coffee ,we have to asked twice before we received it. I do understand when restaurant was busy or understaffed, but few tables???? In the end when we order desert and supposed to came hot it came cold, I started to speak with manager Amed( sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly, but you waitresses couldn't give your name correctly- such a shame) tried to explained him and started to blame on me I haven't read menu correctly before I have ordered. Never experience manager to speak with customer the way he did, I think he should get some training with customer service. I hope your service will improve next next time.

Between three of us we go two pizzas and a starter. Was just the right amount for us. We got two vegetarian romano pizza. Pandana - this was delicious could have done with the caramelised onions being spread across the pizza rather than dolloped. Second pizza was funghi. This was a unique yummy taste and could have done with a bit of garlic oil as its bland taste. The service we recieved was efficient and polite. Would highly recommend this branch. Had a good time and enjoyed.

Nduja Calzone was superb. Not the greatest pizza dough/bread I've ever had, but the whole thing tasted lovely. Partner had a pizza covered in Rocket. I ate half of that, she enjoyed it but couldn't eat it all, I loved it. You can't really go wrong at Pizza Express, all dishes are consistently pretty good. Service was good. They have loads of offers, we used Tesco clubcard so it was an absolute bargain. Air conditioned and they sell Peroni Gran Riserva. What's not to like. Recommend.

Food quality is consistent, which is expected for a chain. Service depends on who is waiting the table. This can vary from amazing service with the regular long term waiters, to being ignored for ages and getting wrong orders when these staff are off. Atmosphere can be very loud, with young children and birthday parties, so it's not the best place for a romantic meal, but perfect if you have children.

0 stars if possible, service was dreadful came in waiting to be seated then took 15 mins to serve us we had to call the waiter(manager) over to order then food came out no one asked how it was which is a basic service step which I know working in the hospitality industry then finished our food and waited a further 15 mins at that point went to pay and had to go to the bar to pay and then the waitress said that’s fine and left me waiting again whilst she went to another table to take their payment. Also to mention the pizza wasn’t great a real shame and let down from pizza express doubt I will return! Would not recommend better off going to zizzi in Hampton!

You'd think a Pizza Express would be a Pizza Express, right? The staff in Teddington make this venue extra special! Food is very high quality, servers are friendly and helpful, and the whole experience makes you forget you are in a chain restaurant. Would recommend as a great spot for an office lunch, or with a group of friends in the evening. Top notch all round.

We actually had a Just Eat take away from here. The pizza and salad were ok but the lasagne was really disappointing. A lot of tomato sauce but very little meat or mushrooms . Carluccio’s has a proper meaty ragu for a similar price. A disappointing Mother’s Day meal.

Delicious food, excellent service! Edit 5 months later: It just gets better, the staff is so friendly, vegan options are plenty and delicious, the place feels like a cozy and warm old style restaurant rather than a busy and mechanical eatery.

There was a great atmospheric production. Loved the ark work around the aesthetic brick panelling. The service was exceptional and I loved the uniform the incredible staff were wearing. So accommodating in here. We were running late and called up to let them know. The manager was so lovely and said, it wasn't a problem and they'd find us a table. He was great with the kids and making an effort at every table - hospitality at its best. He even helped with cutting our pizzas as he saw my sister and I had our hands full with the babies.

I've been to a few Pizza Express before but this one in Teddington is THE BEST ! All staff very nice and friendly, manager Emad always smiling and kind. The food is delicious and fresh. Matilda is the best waitress ever :) helpful in choosing meals, fast and super friendly (and pretty :) ). I will for sure come back to this place

I was hesitating what branch I should go to as my previous experience was extremely poor. I went with the Teddington branch and was absolutely amazed at how good the food was incomparison to my previous experience. The service was top notch and everything was done to make my food experience enjoyable.
