Excellent Italian restaurant that won't blow a hole in your wallet. Best book at peak times though as it can get rather busy.

Award winning restaurant with plenty of mouth-watering dishes from southern Italy. Calzones and pizzas are probably the most famous dishes but the pastas and risottos are not to be missed. My dilemma is always to choose a starter or dessert as both come in a generous portion. While Banbury may not appear to be a busy town in the evening, the restaurant gets packed very soon so if either reserve your table in advance or be there around 6pm.

Pizza Calzone fitted 20 of us in at short notice for a work social dinner. Great comms via email, with food preordered the day before. They gave us a lovely long table along the back wall, and service was excellent.

First time at this restaurant, the service and food was perfect ! Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere- we will definitely be coming back with family and friends. The ducati was a real highlight! Highly recommend, best Italian in Banbury !!!

Have eaten here a few times before and had something different each time. All of the dishes have been authentic Italian food that tastes amazing. The portion sizes are very good so it’s good value. The service is excellent as well as the atmosphere and cleanliness. This would be my first choice for Italian food without a doubt. Thank you for another lovely meal.

Excellent service and very delicious service. The cap of the pepper at the table wasn’t tight and it fall of when I was half way thru my calzone. They just replaced it without hesitation. Definitely among the best pizza places in the uk.

Been coming here years now, they always used to give out free desserts just after lockdown, pizzas are the nicest in Banbury and the staff are alright too. They even got new windows.

Poor hard pressed historic Banbury town centre, battered by recession, does not have many highlights but one definite one is "Pizza Calzone", which, despite its rather limiting name, in fact offers a great range of classic Italian dishes. It is worth the journey. Based on our sample, the food is excellent and the service highly professional. e.g. Humble minestrone soup here emerges as a really home made delicious soup just as Nonna cooked it. Molto bene.

Honestly amazing service, the food was great. Portion sizes are huge but I’d rather than them the opposite. My fussy 10 year old loved the bolognaise and both kids were given ice cream by the owner. We will definitely be back x x x

It was my husbands birthday and at about 3pm he decided he wanted to eat at pizza calzone that night and they very kindly squeezed us in (we later found out they had had around 150 customers that night so very grateful!) We arrived and were seated quickly, staff as always, were very friendly and came to take our drinks order but we hadn't decided on food yet so Carlos gave us a bit more time. When we ordered he was happy to answer questions and make adjustments (removing chilli) from the dishes. The food arrived quickly and starters were AMAZING. my husband and his mum had prosciutto, Mozzarella and Melon between them and I had the fried Mozzarella, my father in law had calamari, all of the dishes were amazing and shared around, very fresh and full of flavour. When the mains arrived I couldn't believe how big the calzone were! But both my husband and mother in law thoroughly enjoyed them and gave it a good effort to finish them! I had pasta gorgonzola which was delicious and again, very big portion and my father in law had the seafood spaghetti which he informed me was amazing- he asked for it without chilli which staff were happy to do. During the meal, it was still incredibly busy in the restuarant but when I asked Michael for another drink he happily made me one and came over to chat about how busy they were and the food, he was very friendly and I'm sure i know him from somewhere but couldnt work out where! Once we had finished our meals (we were offered takeaway boxes for leftovers) we were sat having a drink and all of a sudden a panacotta with a candle arrived and all the staff were singing happy birthday to my husband, we really didn't expect this and it was such a lovely, special touch, especially considering how busy the restuarant was, it made us as a table, and my husband feel very valued. When we got yhe bill the staff happily provided emergency service discount which we appreciated and we again chatted which Michael. Overall it was a really lovely experience and the staff are fantastic and go above and beyond. Thank you Carlos and Michael for making it such a special night! And to the kitchen staff, thank you for the amazing food! We will definitely be back again. Merry Christmas!

I was travelling on business and therefore on my own. I booked a table for 6:30pm and arrived slightly early, was greeted by a surly and unfriendly member of staff and shown to a table. Fortunately the other waiters were friendlier and very efficient in taking my order, delivering my chosen drink and meal to my table and getting the bill. The food was OK, I had Spaghetti con Gambroni: the prawns and everything else were nicely cooked, no errors on my plate that I noticed, and the dish was tasty. Felt I was a little rushed at the end, in and out in around 40 minutes. Perfect if you're in a hurry.

Simply the best! Highly recommended. Will return again. Always made to feel welcome. See you in the new year!

Nice salmon pasta & nice wine. Shame the outside area has changed & been brought indoors, it was nice sat out there in the summer.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Acoustics made it sound loud inside especially with kid's being kid's. The pizza's are very tasty and maybe on the expensive side. Please note there is a service charge of 10%.

We went for lunch and after seated we went on and ordered our food. I like to know what I'm eating so asked the waiter what meat was in the lasagne. Clearly he would not understand and kept replying is meat. So I asked him to double check with the chef. While he was in the kitchen, we heard someone shouting "Halal! Halal!", after which he came back and said is halal. That did not answer my question as I didn't needed it to be halal. Buy we decided to carry on ordering. We got a pizza and a lasagna and drinks. The pizza was mediocre nothing special and the lasagne all it had was sauce no bechamel at all. I grew up in Italy and had good expectations of the restaurant as fresh winner of the best pizza in the UK but was quite disappointed. Just about enough sauce and scarse toppings and too dry and crunchy dough. My partner could not enjoy either of the dish. Throughout the whole time, we had a feel of rush as the waiter kept coming back to our table and asked couple of times if we were done while still had food on our plates. Overall, really disappointed with the way we were treated and not satisfied with the food. Really makes me think who awards these restaurants and based on what criterias.

This is an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious, so much choice, large portions, cooked to perfection and excellent value for money. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is great and the venue is smart and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend the venue, especially if it's your birthday, because they will even sign happy birthday to you. We spend about £35 per head which includes a 3 course meal and drinks. Highly recommended and we will certainly be going back.

Third time eating here, food is always amazing, large portions, service last two times had been rushed, clearing plates whilst still eating. Rushing to pay bill, Little patience with ordering, but put this down to busy restaurant , decided to go again as food always good, but again rushed and almost rude service. Children's plates removed whilst still eating and the restaurant wasn't busy, when we asked for service charge to be removed for above reasons so we could leave a smaller tip. Staff was bodering on aggressiveness questioning us and saying it's not optional and we must pay. To stop a scene we agreed to pay service but as 3 families we wanted to split bill so we could pay each bill separately. Staff wasn't happy and again got defensive and abrupt/Rude Very disappointed. And despite the amazing food we will be looking elsewhere in future.

Very well presented restaurant the host was very attentive. Our meals came out very quick, almost too quick! The pizza base left a lot to be desired so ate only the toppings which were tasty. My guest only managed half of her calzone

Pretty good Italian food. Prices were alright and food was pretty good. Service was very good from the waiters, but the manager wasn’t so genial at all. Generally recommend, aren’t that many Italian places in Banbury so this may be the best.

Absolutely loved it. I ordered a Minestrone just over 5£ thinking it is going to be a tiny vegetable soup but it was enough for me, my wife and my kid. I’ve been there many times and never got disappointed. The staff is professional and welcoming. 5*

Very nice restaurant. Was there second time just to try their fantastic calzone. Unfortunately calamari was not great at all. Very chewy. I love seafood and that is not how calamari taste. On the top of that it is quite expensive.

Great atmosphere, music was a bit loud when we entered and there were two birthdays but man, it's a fun and living place! The food is amazing, and there is a big collection of Italian dishes and pizzas.

We were visiting and was looking for a dinner spot to tuck into some good Italian. We found this spot on Google and thought to give it a try. Its a Monday so we thought we could just walk in, but the restaurant was busy! Luckily for us, there was an available table for 2 but not sure if reservations are better to avoid disappointment. Service was great and while waiting, we kept seeing amazing food being brought out. When our food finally came, we were impressed by the portion sizes! Food was really good but wished we had space to try the desserts that also looked great. Highly recommended!

Had the chicken and seafood paella, let's just say that it was great

We visited this restaurant 2 nights in a row! We tried pizza, folded pizza, pasta, risotto, calamari, salad. All are excellent and delicious! I like the folded pizza with ham the most! It’s moist inside and a bit crispy outside. Calamari with tomato sauce was fresh and tasty. Definitely worth!

Super atmosfera. Fantastyczny kontakt z managerem i obsługą. Przepyszna trzydaniowa uczta była prawdziwą rozkoszą podniebienia. Wino-butelka, doskonałe makarony, desery i kawa. Plecam wszystkim również z nietolerancją glutenu. Byliśmy dziś. Jutro wracamy. A potem z każdym pobytem na 100% znów.

We're quite new to Banbury and visited tonight for the first time. The food was fresh and very tasty. Everything was cooked really well, the pizza's were delicious. So good to have found an authentic Italian restaurant so close to home. We will be back!

The food was lovely and one waiter was very consistent and polite. However another waiter, fairly young and who I believe was new, was fairly rude to me and my friends. He ignored us when we asked for salt and pepper and walked away when we asked for water. Loved everything else though

Nine members of the family, including four children under 7, enjoyed a happy occasion and lovely meals on Saturday, at Pizza Calzone. The food quality is perfect but what makes this place special is the friendly service and attention to our little ones. The pizzas, given “ bunny ears” and the children given balls of dough to play with, while watching where the pizzas were cooked. They loved it and it made for a very relaxing, and enjoyable experience. Thank you to you all! We will be back.

Amazing restaurant! The food was great and staff were amazing! The staff were so friendly and kind and they were very attentive throughout our whole evening. The food came quick and tasted amazing - can't wait to go back!

First time here wasn't amazing, however giving it a second chance, and I must say the quality has shot right up, no problem changing a 3 star first try to a 5 star next try. staff were great and food is awesome! pricey... but quality is worth.

Update : website now updated to £25 per person minimum spend on a Friday/Saturday night - just for groups of 9 or more? Or any any booking after 4pm on these 2 days? Still not completely clear. Haven’t visited yet and probably won’t this month after reading on the website the customer is committing to paying £30 minimum per person on a Friday/Saturday night and if they don’t meet that minimum amount they will be charged that anyway?! Unfair if not all members of that party don’t want a full menu or alcohol. What about the after work Friday couple popping in for a quick bite to eat? Appreciate people ordering starters main pud drinks will amount to more than £30 per head but that is not always the case. Sorry but your food is nice - too big a portion ( in my opinion ) and other outlets equally as tasty and without the price constraints. There would have been a party of 8 of us which would have met the minimum price constraints but on principle we decided against it. This is Banbury, not London.

Our favourite Italian restaurant in Banbury. We love their pizzas so much that we crave them very often! The calzones are to die for and the pasta dishes are fabulous. Staff super efficient and friendly. We go there several times a month, that's how much we love that restaurant!

After reading such glowing reviews I had high hopes for this restaurant. Very busy on a Friday evening, really noisy and the waiters shouting across tables to each other. They were pleasant enough but it felt forced and a little rushed. An older couple were made to wait for a particular table so were awkwardly stood at the bar for 10 minutes, inches from our table. I ordered the pizza which honestly could have been a mediocre supermarket pizza; the base was so crispy that I couldn't eat the crust and the dough just didn't seem fresh, (even though I could see a chef tossing pizza bases behind the counter). My partner had pasta which she didn't enjoy either. Our garlic bread starter was overcooked. I've noticed a few negative reviews in the last week so maybe it's just been a rough week.

Took my son for a birthday treat, discreetly let the waiter know it was his birthday and they placed a candle on his dessert and played happy birthday through their pa system
