La Foglia in Cherwell

Stopped for lunch enroute from NEC classic car show. Pizza was fresh tasty. Risotto wasn't authentic over cooked and mussels not open. Linguine was good.

Pretty disappointed.the veal was over cooked and tough.the pasta dishes were bland and the lasagne had way too much tomato. When I was asked by the Indian waitress if everything was ok I told her...she smiled and said thank you.. Make your own mind up Nothing authentic about this place

We visited from Canada during our week-long trip to the UK, and La Foglia was an absolute highlight! The seafood risotto and seafood pasta we had were both incredible—super fresh and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious Italian food, especially the seafood dishes - 10/10!

I had an amazing time at this wonderful Italian restaurant . I had a couple of appetizers and for the pasta Frutti de mare. This dish blew me away . I would definitely recommend and haven’t had anything like this is Canada.

Excellent service, best Italian in the area. Highly recommended, will be returning. Big portions. The 2 chicken dishes came with potatoes and vegetables. We also had some delicious starters. NOT SALTY, the restaurant was full with no complaints.

La Foglia is one of my top three restaurants in the Banbury area. I have eaten there dozens of times - and why? - because the food is just so, so good. The waiters know me and, at the late end of the evening, when the chef comes out to have his own dinner, I have called out to him and given him a round of applause. This is the closest thing I have found to Rome - where it is impossible to have a bad meal. Treat yourself! (and by the by, the house Montepulciano is very nice.)

Excellent Italian restaurant, good selection of starters and main courses, with a specials board. Albeit I always go for their seafood spaghetti. The house white is good and is only £20 a bottle. The house red is similarly good, at £26 a bottle. This is not a fast food outlet so allow a little more time than average. But that can be a good thing. Make an evening of going to this restaurant. Booking is essential on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Good experience overall. The food food took slightly long hence the 4 star. Other than that all was really good and will certainly be back

The food is authentic, home-made Italian and absolutely delicious. We had mains and dessert. The mains were generous and did not need any side extras to fill us up. The dessert that we had - Tartufo Scuro was amazing! The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The restaurant gets busy so booking is advised. The staff all work extremely hard and are very efficient - we were very impressed.

Natalia hosted our weeding reception meal this weekend and all I can say is wow!!! Everything has been perfect! From the ever changing planning to delivering a fantastic day of great food and atmosphere. All of our guests made a special comment on how great the afternoon was! Despite making a reservation over the phone a week in advance (as we normally do) the Resturant didn’t have a table for us. Poor attitude from the staff that it wasn’t their problem. Told we should have booked via email, which they’ve never said previously.

Very pleasant Italian restaurant. The menu is pretty standard Italian fare, but they do it well. The lasagna was tasty and generous, as was the accompanying side salad. My friend was very impressed with the veal saltimbocca, which was served with a mountain of vegetables. A Sicilian red went very nicely with both.

Visited this local Italian twice recently. Food was fresh and well made. Service was polite and punctual, despite the restaurant being busy on the 2 occasions we visited. Excellent local Italian that was also excellent value for money.

Party of four attended on a Saturday evening. La Foglia is a nice Italian restaurant in Banbury serving excellent food at a reasonable price point. Service however was a bit sketchy at times, as not all the servers spoke particularly great English. Took three attempts to get the dessert order right, and it was only ice cream! Not the most relaxing meal, as it tends to get quite noisy/echoy inside. Sadly we also had to suffer a particularly loud table behind us.

Brilliant - Brilliant. This is one of the best and finest restaurants I have eaten in for a long time. Really good food all cooked fresh and served with a smile from I assume the restaurant manager as she seemed to be in control. If you want fast food then this isn't the place to go but if you want quality then please go. Nice varied menu all cooked to perfection. I have eaten in many top class establishments and this is one of the best. If you see negative reviews then please ignore them as it's probably from someone looking for a free meal. Believe me it happens. :)

Food: 0 out of 5 AVOID this restaurant. I usually don’t leave negative feedbacks online, but this time I must do it. The restaurant served us awful meal. The meals we ordered were TOO SALTY. The manager of the restaurant is absolutely rude. Please refer some of the negative reviews and the manager’s replies on Google. I would recommend to NOT go to the restaurant. You will waste time and money. Your blood will be poisoned by the awful food. Chef clearly does not know how to put all the ingredients together. Most importantly, the manager has no clue how to treat customers and their honest reviews. The manager has no understanding of how to improve the restaurant. The manager only takes customer’s comment in sarcastic way. Really bad and not good model as a manager. We wish the restaurant disappears anytime from England soon. Absolutely bad food. WOW!!!! SHOCKINGLY TOO SALTY!!!!!!!!!!! 塩辛すぎ! オススメできません。 The WORST experience ever. I am just simply writing this for someone who is thinking to try this place in future. We travelled from London. We decided to try this restaurant after reading some positive reviews here. Dined on Saturday 4th May 2024 at 8pm. I ordered Lobster and Scampi with Ragu £22. My 10 years old child ordered Veal and Parma Ham. The dishes were both absolutely and shockingly salty. Soon after I put mouthful of the spaghetti, I looked at my son and my husband. My son had an expression of surprise and putting his tongue out after eating his veal dish. He grabbed a glass of water and gobbled it. My husband ordered lamb shank and mashed potato. The sauce was saltier than other restaurants, but it was blended with plain mashed potato, so it was not bad - according to him. My son and I made so much effort to finish the dishes as we didn’t want to waste. But now - I feel I should have spoken with manager straight after we noticed the dinner was not good. It made my tongue numbing and we woke up a few times over the night because we were so thirsty and wanted to drink water! I am not laying, this is a true story. I wish it wasn’t. We spoke with a female waitress who has long blond hair when she brought a bill to our table. She gave me the following possible reasons why the dinner was so salty for us: 1. We are sensitive with salty food 2. The sprinkle of parmesan cheese made it too salty. 3. It was a seafood dish. So the seafoods themselves already can be salty. So that’s why. She stated she actually put too much parmesan cheese the other day. The dark haired female waitress who came and offered me sprinkling cheese only put a tea spoon of parmesan cheese on the spaghetti. I usually put that much cheese on my dinner at home/other Italian restaurants. Never had the same issue. I doubt it was salty because of the sprinkle of cheese! Am I sensitive to salt? - No way, I LOVE salty food, salty chips, dark soy sauce. In fact, I even carry around a sachet of Kikkoman Soy Sauce in my bag when I travel around and dine in outside as usually I find food not tasteless and has lack of Umami flavour. This is not a joke, I am Japanese and I find quite a few dishes in restaurants in this country have lack of taste. I certainly did bring a sachet of Kikkoman soy sauce this time of course, but I certainly did not need to use it! It saved one sachet but it certainly made us feel we wasted the £77 we had to pay. We had great time in Blenheim Palace that day with Jousting performance. But this bad experience which La Foglia in Banbury brought us really ruined our day, sadly. Really shocking way to serve dinner and I do recommend people to avoid this restaurant. I should probably write an email to the owner of this place. It is really unhealthy to serve such dishes. All the beautiful ingredients are ruined because of the careless cooking/neglect of the chef and possibly the owner. IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SUFFERING FROM HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE/IF YOU ALREDY HAVE, this restaurant is NO NO NO… and NO!!! Chef in this restaurant CLEARLY doesn’t know how to put all the ingredients together. *******Edit: Response to manager’s reply********* It’s disappointing to read the manager’s response. We were never ever trying to leave the seat without paying last night. Please do talk to your employees about that and confirm. It is all up to you if you would like to make your restaurant better, gain more customers and would like to hear good reviews from honest customers in future. I really feel now I am so happy to not working in your restaurant. Absolutely rude and shocking manner. Thanks for reading this long review everyone! Do not go this restaurant. Definitely better to keep your money and time for other, better restaurant.

Chose this because of its good reviews and I wasn't disappointed. A really top-notch Italian right in the centre of Banbury. Not cheap but the portions are almost over-generous: the side salad which I ordered with my seafood pasta was virtually a meal in itself! The restaurant is fairly compact and the decor is unfussy but the food is excellent and authentic- and I say that having worked and travelled in Italy many times!

Does chef in this restaurant have a tongue!?!? Really salty dishes and we couldn’t enjoy them at all. I agree with other reviewers who put their honest experiences. I can see quite a few reviewers say the dishes very salty. Please do not go to this restaurant. I don’t live far away from this area and hope this restaurant will be replaced by another restaurant soon!

First time here - good service although drinks got slightly confused. My starter of mixed seafood was really very good and my Pizza was excellent too. A little more expensive at around £40 per head including drinks - no service charge was auto added which is refreshing - we obviously left a tip as we were made very welcome. Food arrived promptly and all seemed very organised. Loos were clean! I think that I will try something other than Pizza next time as the specials board at La Foglia had Halibut, rib eye and all sorts of alternatives to the usual Pizza offerings, so I will not play safe 2nd time around! Nice meal out and easy to park during the week outside Whately Hall.

Had to wait for an over an hour for our main dinner, yes the starter was amazing, but had to wait so long we had to leave and shef decide to smash up the kitchen as we left. Was left very disappointed. Do not recommend

My family and I (13 of us ) went here for a double family celebration. From my first enquiry over messenger in facebook the experience was absolutely excellent. Great communication straight away. The evening was a great success. We went in to do a few table decorations before the booking time and to take our own birthday cake which they were very happy to accommodate. The food was absolutely beautiful and amazing portions. The service was excellent and could not be faulted. The special touch at the end of the evening was the added sparkler candle they added to the cake alongside our candles we had taken in. What a nice surprise. Definitely will return and definitely recommend especially if you are planning a special evening.

We visited this place quite a few years ago when it was called something else and didn't go back. However we tried La Foglia following a recommendation and had a very good meal, and will be visiting again. 😀

After two unsuccessful attempts to get in, I reserved and was NOT disappointed. Great service, outstanding food and wine and a friendly atmosphere. I’d highly recommend, but make a reservation !!

I really enjoyed my pasta, it was very tasty. Our waitress was really lovely. I've noticed its fairly popular with young families. The only downfall is that when all windows are open and people smoke in front of the restaurant, the smell goes right in.

Anniversary dinner. Food was superb and highly recommended. Restaurant was full, only negative was very noisy and struggled to have a conversation.

2 of us went for meal, this place had been recommended to us, and they didn't disappoint!! The waiting staff were very attentive, the food was freshly cooked and well presented. I has Sea Bass, and wife had Meatballs.

We went to La Foglia with a friend of mine and our son at the weekend. We had not booked a table but they managed to fit us in and provide a high chair. The food was delicious. I chose the vegetable ravioli and would definitely have it again! The vanilla cheesecake was also very good. They also boiled some vegetables for our son. Service was good and when we left the restaurant was very busy, with most tables taken on a Saturday night so would advise to book ahead if you are going on a weekend!

Had a top notch meal at La Foglia. The restaurant provides some toast and a spicy tomato paste whilst your starter is prepared. An excellent touch. My avocado and crayfish starter was beautifully presented. The lobster ravioli exquisite.

We went to La Foglia for dinner last Saturday with our Daughter. As always the food and service was superb. All of our meals was excellent as was the house red. Tiramisu was perfect. I would highly recommend a visit

Food was OK but not much in the way of good quality seafood on the menu

We had seafood spaghetti and "dobby" pizza. Both dishes were waaay too salty and spicy but tbh the portion of 'from frozen' seafood in the spaghetti was decent. The pizza was doughy and had hardly any meat on the topping but plenty of jalapeno. Parts of the pizza were totally bare like when you get slices where someone has removed all the topping. The spaghetti didn't have any sauce. They replaced the pizza to be fair to them, they were nice, and brought a lasagne instead. The lasagne was also amazingly salty and was the first lasagne I'd seen with no bechamel, just pasta, mince, tomato sauce and some herbs and a ton of salt. They'd be much better off reselling M&S lasagne or sending the chef on an educational trip to Italy. Definitely not 1-star though as the food was edible and staff were nice. Edit in response to owner's response: clearly not a duplicate, as anyone can click on my profile to see if I've reviewed this place before. Glad to see you were recently shut for a time, hopefully that incorporated the trip to Italy x

A bit pricey but worth every pound. We tried the seafood risotto, prawn linguine and smoked salmon pasta and all of them were delicious. The seafood risotto especially was full of seafood. Worth a try if you’re in Banbury.

I don't often leave bad reviews, I don't believe in it but I don't think I've ever been treated so unprofessionally. After a long day walking around we were recommended this restaurant as a nice place to dine. My partner loves Italian food and I really fancied a tiramisu and hot tea. On arrival we were greeted and seated kindly. My partner ordered the classic Spaghetti Bolognese and I ordered Tiramisu with a lemon tea and water. We often do this in our favourite restaurants in Oxford. Nothing happened at first then there was some whispers going on and lots of glances over in our direction. At this point I had an idea we had done something wrong and I felt extremely uncomfortable. A very abrupt lady approached us, perhaps the manager, with a very overbearing approach. Infact she talked to us like we had committed a crime. Sarcastic tones and unnecessary rudeness. We were told they are 'unable to serve us as this is a restaurant' I explained I have a sweet tooth and my partner was actually the one dining I was just accompanying him and was treating myself to a cake and tea. I was spoken to in a demeaning and rude mannor and told in more ways than one we were not being served. It's a real shame I would have loved to try this place but so ce reading the other Google reviews I am quite relieved we didn't get to try the food since many people have said it is not good. It really was very unwelcoming and confusing. It felt embarrassing being told to leave the restaurant. Please avoid this place, can't say much about the food but if you want to be treated with respect and dignity then avoid at all costs ! Absolutely disgraceful way to treat customers. 0 stars Get some training on customer services. Kind regards

Get Authentic Italian food in Banbury..

One of the best meals I've ever had in Banbury.

Large portion meals, Good customer service.

On the main road through Banbury. Great food!! We had the Lasagne and Spaghetti Bolognese. Both were absolutely delicious. Dessert was Pannacotta and an Afogato. The latter had Ameretto in it. Yum. Nice decor, nice people. Good value for money. Recommended.

This a lovely quaint place to eat. The food is tasty however my lasagna was quite salty and hard to finish. I think service can be quicker, only 3 tables in the restaurant yet took quite a while to get served.

Ok food but the time to get it was appalling! We arrived at 20:10, asked the waiter to order food at least 2 times until we finally ordered the food at 20:40. The mains never got to us until 21:30! In the end we had to be "rude" to ask to speed up our main. Not recommended.

Proper restaurant, a true 10/10, food was amazing, service was amazing, portions and presentation top notch. We are on a break and our hotel had a limited menu, we decided to find somewhere else, we are glad we did. I truly mean this, the lasagne was the best we’ve ever tasted, the sauce was incredible, we also had the sea bass, 10/10, carbonara 10/10 and the chicken milinase was magical, 4 very very happy people. As I said a proper 10/10.

Really disappointing. Came here as never been yet live close by, and heard it was good. Service was beyond slow that by time pizza came out we’d finished bottle of wine. Was in there over two hours which normally is great but with no atmosphere, it was long! Food was ok tbh a little tasteless 🤷‍♀️ 😞

They accommodated us early in the evening even with a party booking going on. Service was fast and efficient. There were 3 of us, 2 enjoying generous sized pizza and the other a salmon/pasta dish. Food very tasty. We've been a number of times and would recommend it.

Called in here whilst staying in Banbury overnight. The restaurant was very busy (always a good sign), and I can see why. The food from start to finish was authentic, and gorgeous. I had the bruschetta followed by the homemade meatballs and Conchiglie pasta...cooked and seasoned perfectly. Plenty of pleasant staff and a lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio made for a lovely evening with the wife.

Lived in Banbury for 15 years , and this was my first visit to La Foglia - wow what have l been missing the food and service - excellent . Certainly will be making this restaurant a favourite destination of choice.
