We booked here for a lazy Sunday morning brunch in Covent Garden. It was a lovely little place and we they were very accommodation of our little tweaks we wanted to the breakfast menu. The Full English was good and nice to see some black pudding making a showing on the plate. Staff were very accommodating and would certainly recommend.

Nice restaurant in a prime location in Covent Garden, small enough to make it a personal experience and therefore not overwhelming. We had the sharing platter between 2 of us, it's supposed to feed four but we felt that it wouldn't be quite enough for four adults, it would probably feed 3 at a push. In saying that the food was fresh, hot, well presented and of good quality. Our bill came to £128 (including drinks and service charge) but we felt that it was worth the price. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to this restaurant and would recommend it to others.

Went for Sunday roast as promoted by some vegan influencer on Instagram. The vegan roast was decent but horribly overpriced for a piece of cauliflower steak which is quite basic in taste and really tiny portion. Sure you get the bottomless carrots, cabbages, potatoes and yorkies, pretty basic in flavour as well. Two stars for the vegan roast, one for value and three for its average flavour. Now it comes to the beef roast, I’d give 0 star if I could. First of all, it’s not roast beef, it’s a steak. I saw the reviews mentioning the beef was overdone, so I asked the waiter how do they serve the roast, he said medium rare. Yes that’s what I wanted to hear, it came out, almost well done, and it’s two pieces of cheap steak, the ones that you get as an essential range at the supermarket. It’s rather chewy and definitely not a good cut, for £29. It’s laughable. It’s a tourist trap if you ask me. Lastly, the staffs there didn’t have much a clue of their menu, most of them look like they have just arrived in London last week. They are very nice but definitely lack of professionalism. I’m a London local, my friend who’s a vegan and visiting in London booked this place. Otherwise I’ll never go there, and you are basically paying for their rent. Might as well go to Pret for a hot wrap.

Food was fine, but starters and mains came to the table at the same time? Sat there with two meals squashed into a table, eating one quickly while the other went cold. Really weird, never experienced that before. Also we were asked to order pudding while eating our food? Again very odd. The main issue was that the restaurant filled with smoke from the kitchen while we were eating, and even after opening all the windows, an asthmatic family member struggled while all our clothes stank of cooking oil and smoke for the rest of the day. Won't be going back.

Coffee pricing is astronomical for the size and flavour profiles. Overall food was okay however was one of the only places we could find open early on a Sunday morning so we were stuck to choose. Service could have been better as we wanted to stay and enjoy the rest of our coffees but felt rushed out as soon as our plates were taken away. Portion sizing as well for the scrambled eggs and eggs benedict were not in value for the money spent on them.

We recently dined at Pivot Bar & Bistro in Covent Garden and were very pleased with the overall experience. We ordered the Buttermilk Chicken Burger and the Free Range English Chicken with a side of Buttery Mash. The quality of the chicken was surprisingly high — very well cooked and tender. The Buttermilk Chicken Burger was a generous portion, satisfying and flavorful. However, the Free Range Chicken on its own was on the smaller side, so pairing it with a side is definitely recommended. Drinks were on the pricier side, which is worth noting, but overall we were satisfied with the meal. While the staff weren’t exceptionally fast, they provided a satisfactory level of service and ensured everything we needed was taken care of. Overall, a great spot for a quality meal in Covent Garden, and we would happily return.

Trying fish and chips in the UK was something I was really looking forward to, and today’s experience was absolutely spot on! The fish was crispy on the outside, soft and flaky inside, and the chips were just perfect—golden, crunchy, and full of flavor. It tasted exactly how I imagined proper fish and chips should be. But what really made the experience special was the amazing service from Suman. She was so welcoming, friendly, and made sure everything was just right. If you’re looking for great food with even better service, this is the place to be. Huge thanks to Suman and especially the Chefs for making our visit such a great one!

The experience started off well – despite most tables being reserved, they managed to find us a spot. We opted for the Sunday lunch (still served late into the evening!), and the trimmings were absolutely lovely. However, the meats could have been better, particularly the beef, which was served well-done despite being advertised as medium-rare. Unfortunately, there wasn’t an opportunity to flag this with a waiter early on. As there was only two of us we didn’t opt for the four-person roast sharing plate for £95, although I think this would be the better value option for a group. It comes with unlimited potatoes and cauliflower cheese and selection of all the meats so for a larger party, I’d definitely recommend this option! Our waitress was very sweet and seemed to be learning the ropes, and while her English wasn’t fluent, we all have to start somewhere. With a little patience, the service was pleasant overall. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience, and while there’s some room for improvement, I’d happily return for the atmosphere and the hearty trimmings.

A Culinary Gem I recently visited Pivot British Bar & Bistro and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. Located on the first floor of a historic townhouse overlooking Covent Garden's famous Piazza, Pivot had a cozy and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its delicious menu. The standout for me was the langoustines and the scallops and the sticky toffee pudding – a flavorful delight that I will definitely be ordering again. The service at Pivot is top-notch. The staff are attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They made sure our dining experience was enjoyable and memorable. The ambiance of the restaurant is equally impressive. The ground floor café/bar, Pivot Bar, offers a relaxed setting with great coffee and a good selection of other drinks . It's the perfect spot to unwind. Overall, it is a must-visit for anyone looking for a taste of modern cuisine in a charming setting. I will definitely be returning and recommending it to friends and family.

One star rating. The food was all pre-packaged and frozen. The soup was under-seasoned, the beef was chewy and had silver skin running through it. The Yorkshire puddings were bland, tasteless, soggy, and frozen. The pigs in blankets were clearly frozen. The vegetables were hard and not cooked properly. The only edible dish was the cauliflower cheese. Every single dish was covered in chopped chives, even found a few chives in the chocolate mouse. I will not be returning or recommending this establishment.

Dry aged Steak was not good, turkey wrapped in very fatty streaky bacon not great and the christmas pudding submerged in custard was inedible. Food did not taste good. Even though we informed the staff ... no action taken to rectify. For this kind of prices .. I do not recommend this place as its dirty and walking past the kitchen did not seem hygenic.. scraps of food on the floor. There are many other better places to go in covent garden.

An overall 10/10 experience for us! We hosted our annual cousins' Christmas party here and were looking for a venue that captured the festive spirit, offered a seasonal menu, and included the bonus of a stunning view of the Covent Garden Christmas tree. From booking months in advance to answering all our questions and creating a personalised experience, the service was exceptional. The festive menu was appreciated, though some dishes fell short of expectations. The standout was undoubtedly the lamb shank pie—outstanding and a refreshing twist on traditional options. Unfortunately, my turkey was a bit dry and smothered in a gooey sauce that didn’t quite match the enticing image in the brochure. On a brighter note, all the sides were delicious, and I only wish I’d had room to finish the indulgent chocolate mousse! That said, I can’t fault the venue. The entire experience was truly memorable. The manager went above and beyond, keeping our area free from other bookings to create a private feel, even without a dedicated function room. A huge thank you to all the staff at Pivot—I’d highly recommend this venue for large gatherings!

Asked for more of the sides and got looked at with a stare.. 20 mins later 6 more potatoes, 4 carrots and a bowl of cabbage arrived. Service charge at 15% £8 a pint and £4 for a can of Cola. We went for a Sunday roast, unfortunately it was one of the worst times I’ve had at a restaurant in a while. We were a a walk-in in so appreciated that there would be a wait for our table, and had a drink whilst we waited. The lady that seated us was really lovely and had great service throughout. After we were seated it took a long time for a server to come and take our order. Our food took a long time to come once we’d ordered it. My food had a hair in it so I returned it, it took a while for my food to come back and when it did I wasn’t happy with what I received. On my first plate the piece of fish was cooked well and a well presented piece. On the second plate the piece of fish was very small and at £29 a plate I wasn’t happy with what I received, it was also not cooked well. The pigs in blankets were also not good and had to be replaced, however instead of making a fresh plate the kitchen put some new ones on top of the old plate. My roast potato was frozen on the inside and after taking a trip to the toilet, I had a look at the kitchen and saw lots of frozen potatoes and Yorkshire pudding (aunt Bessie’s style). I wasn’t offered a drink whilst I waited for my replacement meal and the waiter I was speaking to at the time was not particularly helpful and wasn’t very good at dealing with a complaint. We were offered a free dessert which was nice of the staff but we did not take it. We appreciated that our bill was was amended however as someone that manages a venue I was not very impressed by our experience. When we left the manager apologised for our experience which was nice of him. I would probably not return however appreciated the staffs efforts to rectify the situation. Whoever runs the kitchen needs to sort out their issues, the pigs in blankets could’ve been made better by a five year old. The fact you would even serve something like that means the standards throughout their kitchen are probably similar, I would never let anything like that leave my kitchen. I heard other tables complaining about their meals though did not talk to a waiter. I imagine this review won’t make much difference as you’re in Covent Garden though I would not recommend the Sunday roast at all.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and private dining area for our guests. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and attentive. The food was really good; the only reason I'm giving one less star for the food is that it was slightly cold upon arrival, but quality overall was excellent!

A great old pub with a top tier whisky selection, perfect gin and tonic, and a super friendly Landlady. Recommended.

Located just off Oxford Street and nicely nestled between three underground stations; Goodge Street, Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Circus this newly opened pub ended up being a nice surprise lunch location for me and my partner. A pub that has been established since the 1700's the location certainly gives off a historical feel as you walk the side alley's you almost feel as if Jack The Ripper could pop out at you from the side entrance of the pub. instead though, and thankfully enough, the only thing we were greeted with was a tendful barman ready to pull a perfect pint of Murphy's stout. It was my first time trying the stout and although he'd tell you it doesn't beat a good Guinness (having grown up 10 minutes from the brewery, he tells us) he none the less indulges you in light hearted conversation as he lets the pint sit 3 quarters full letting the stout settle before finishing the pour. The art of serving a good stout, he tells me, is looking after the barrel lines and pouring it just right. We sat in a cosy corner by the window and the quaint ground floor bar off the main streets just enough to drown out most of the hustle and bustle of the busy west end but not so much that the atmosphere felt dead. Jazzy music plays and we enjoy our drink before we head to our 12:30 reservation for lunch. As we get ready to head up stairs to their "Pie Room" dining area we are greeted by Olivier who takes our drinks for us and leads us to the far left corner of the dining area to a table next to an open window. The sunshine and breeze was a welcome part of our lunch as it was a warm day in London. The menu is generous with starters like Crispy Lamb Belly Scrumpets and a Half Pint of Prawns. As we ordered, Olivier was happy to engage us in conversations and menu recommendations. We opted for the Chicken Liver Pate with caramelised onions and rye bread. The latter really complimenting the pate, it was just right to set us up for the main course. I ordered the Aged Beef Shin and Rib pie, which came with creamy mash and I ordered their Maple Roasted Root Vegetables on the side. My partner opted for the Braised Leg Shepherd's Pie with a Pea Salad. The flavours of both pies could be described as bold and packed with flavour. Both arrived piping hot, which is a relief as most pubs serve food that is on the way to being cold! You wont be disappointed in the roasted veg either. The shepherds pie was a tad on the salty side but the sweetness of the roasted veg helped lessen the edge of the dish and it was not like most shepherds pies in a sense that instead of the meat in a minced form it was more of a pulled texture and it made all the difference. The mashed potato on top was generous and added to the heartiness of the meal itself, so much so in that we skipped dessert even though the Newman Arms Chocolate Cake sounded tempting, we will be back for that next time! After our meal we went to check out their underground floor which offered board games and comfy sofa's to relax in where we had one last drink before heading back out on to Rathbone Street and off home. Just in time too as more people were arriving for a boozy lunch and tourists ready for The Newman Arms "Pie & Pint" offerings. All in all, I'd say this little gem of a pub is in a great location and has kept its 1700's charm while the menu and drinks on offer really bought it back up in to today's modern standards of great food and service. 5/5 on both fronts! We can't wait to go back to try more of what's on offer, like a Black Velvet pint served in a classic silver tankard!
