Pivaz in Epping Forest

Roza used to be our favourite Turkish. However it has gone downhill in recent times. Our last two orders have had missing items. We ordered the filo parcels for £6.50 I would expect more than three, it never come with the sweet chilli sauce. My chocolate brownie dessert was the smallest slither and came without ice cream. Again, for £6.50 I would expect much more. All the hot food and bread was stone cold. We didn’t receive a large pot of garlic sauce we paid extra for. We were told it would be around 40-50minutes, it turned up 20minutes later than that. All in all a very disappointing experience, cold food, long wait, over priced, missing multiple items, poor quality control or care.

My friend and our two teenagers stumbled upon this little gem last week - what a find!! We weren’t sure the restaurant was open as there were no other diners, and I’m perplexed as to why that might’ve been. The decor was well thought out for the restaurant’s setting (being in Essex after all!). The furnishing are up to date with no signs of being tired, lots of tables - and space between the tables as well - not something you see every day. We had been looking for somewhere for lunch (having had quite a fun if rather confusing and bizarre trip on the Ongar-Epping rail/bus line - that’s another story!). There are loads of restaurants offering lunch in Epping high street, either chains or expensive one-offs, and we were just about to give up and do Pizza Express when we saw the board for the lunch menu - £11.99 for two courses. Our starters (beetroot x 2, cacik x 1, soup of the day x 1) were delicious, served with warm pitta bread - and plenty of it. For our main dish we ordered Greek salad x 2, penne polo x 1 and chicken burger x 1. The portions were generous and the food really tasty. With soft drinks, our bill came to £63 for four of us including a service charge. Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh, tasty food with great portions, nice surroundings and excellent service.

After high expectations , I booked this restaurant with my partner for my birthday . We have been to 4 other Turkish restaurants before, Melin, Veysos, Ermans, and Sheesh and I have to say this is the worst! We ordered cocktails when we arrived , for me Gin and Champagne. It tasted like carbonated water. When I complained , the waiter said it wasn’t Champagne it was Prosecco , ok, and he first blamed it on the ice melting to give it the watery taste ( between the bar and our table!) when he saw my reaction he then said its maybe because the barman had put in too much SODA WATER!! WHAT?! ! My partners cocktail was even worse, some half strawberry latched onto the side of a tiny glass which clearly was some sort of syrup. In all other restaurants you would actually get FRESH FRUIT , crushed with ice and looking pretty with a generous amount of alcohol, for £13!!! We ordered the mix grill to share , it was dry, overcooked and boring. Nothing like we had experienced before. The restaurant quotes Fine Dining. It is not. All in all, a total disappointment.

My partner and I had a lovely meal at this beautiful restaurant tonight. There was a live singer there who helped add to the atmosphere. Service was excellent and food was lovely and at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend.

I had a lovely night with my best friend in Roza, we both had a 3 course meal and a cocktail each. Service was brilliant and a magician was joining customers and showing some tricks for a while which was fun. The restaurant is really nicely decorated

The decoration, atmosphere and lighting is amazing. The menu is good too. The food was great. However, the service was not good. Being ignored, walking away when we were 1/2 way through drinks order. Trying to attract someone’s attention to ask for the bill was a task in itself. Then to find there was a 12% tip already added. I know we could have asked not to pay it but felt obliged to pay. Perhaps the pre-added tip is an excuse for the staff not to try too hard…

My friend and I had lunch today. The food absolutely beautiful. The set price lunch time menu fabulous value. Service was spot on. The service charge of 12.5% not unreasonable and clearly noted on the menu. Highly recommend and will be back.

Four of us friends visited for the second time. Food is good though expensive. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. However it was spoilt as we were leaving. We asked for the bill which when we looked included a 12.5% discretionary service charge. We all agreed that a £20 tip was excessive even though the service was good. We therefore asked for it not to be included and said we would give our own tips which we did in cash. When we left we said goodbye to the staff. Our waiter completely ignored us even though he couldn’t have failed to hear us. We all agreed it was very, very rude and that we would not be returning.

Couldn’t fault this at all 😍 hands down best Turkish in Epping! Staff are so friendly and helpful, smiles everywhere! :) beautiful restaurant beautiful interior so calm and relaxing. Couldn’t recommend enough Top tip 😋Filo parcels are to die for!

Possibly the best for a nice Turkish meal! Visited Roza today with the family and the whole experience was outstanding , the food was absolutely delicious, and I can’t praise the staff enough, the customer service was excellent we had so much help from the two young men who was serving us for the evening , they were so polite and respectful and met our every need ! Guys if you haven’t been already, you’re missing out! I’m already counting down the days till my next visit!

Excellent: We went for dinner on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was absolutely packed with people having great time under nice atmosphere and live jazz music from a beautiful lady . Despite all the buzz and business we felt very well looked after. Our waiter was friendly, professional and caring but not intrusive, which is a hard balance to find. The food was absolutely incredible. For main course I had a seafood and the seafood was super fresh. Everyone was so polite and friendly - down to the kitchen staff waving 'Good Night' with smiles as we left. Thank you and see you again very soon!

The food was delicious the only reason it’s not a 5 is that they got our order wrong twice! However they were very apologetic and gave us a free starter and some nibbles whilst we waited.

Mediterranean cuisine is quite rich and I had good appetizers. When I first visited, I went with the recommendation of my friend, now it has become my favorite restaurant that I can always go to.

Driving back to Cambridge from an appointment, we called and ordered a takeout from here.The gentleman on the phone was very polite and helpful, we didn't have a long wait, the food was delivered to our car which was parked outside.When we got home some 50miles, the food was still hot and amazing, the cold meza was delicious, so tasty, very generous portion, we also had Mixed Roza kebab once again really tasty and good sized portions, with fresh bread. Amazing, highly recommend and we will visit again

Our first time here. Went for lunch. American Express had a promotional offer on and listed Pivaz Epping as a participating outlet. Service was not friendly. Two of the plates of food were utterly tasteless, like eating cotton wool. Went to pay and the waitress said "Sorry, we don't accept Amex" so had to pay on another card and lost out on the promotional offer. As we left, we looked at their front door (we have taken a photograph of it) and under their name on the glass window, it lists American Express as being taken there! We feel like we have been totally conned! Will never return. Not a pleasant experience.

What a disappointment!! Read reviews before hand which were quite mixed I have to say.We ate at 17-45 and we were the only two tables of 2 there.The restaurant was FREEZING!! I had to go back to the car to get coats and scarves!!We actually ate our entire meal wearing them!!One of the young girls did put a fan heater on but it was less than useless!! I had the Kleftico which was supposed to fall off the bone!!The meat was tough and fatty and I left most of it!!The only good thing was the 2young girls working there especially our waitress!!Would have left except we had to get the local steam train at a certain time!! Management you need to sort out your heating!!Definately won’t be going back!!-Patrick

Came here between lockdowns. We were seated straight away and never had to wait too long for anything. The food is good but not worth the money that you pay. For example, one of my party asked to swap her vegetables for salad and was told the only way this could be done was to cancel the veg and order a side salad for £5, which is poor. An additional charge was also incurred for one of my party who cannot eat rice and asked to swap this for the mushrooms. We were also disappointed to see that tables were not wiped down between seatings which is basic, even before covid. Same case for the menus. Again, the food is nice but you can find similar for a better price and more accommodating service.

Have visited Roza numerous times and cannot recommend highly enough. The goats cheese with walnuts starter is amazing as is the kleftiko (literally falls off the bone). As always the service was impeccable and cannot wait to revisit !!!

Thought we would try Pivaz under new management and thank god we did not sit down to eat as others were complaining. We just had one drink at the bar because that’s where they direct you when guess what your table is not ready. We finished up and said we’re not prepared to hang around for their incompetence.

We had pre-booked a table and were seated in the window. We had a selection of starters, calamari, goats cheese and mains were duck, lamb kleftiko, vegetable stew and vegetable moussaka. We followed this with deserts chocolate fondue and chocolate brownie.The service was very good and the waitress was very accommodating. The food well presented and tasty.The waitress was wearing a face mask but for some reason the waiter did not sure why this was. Plenty of hand sanitiser if you wanted it but no guidance as you enter the restaurant as to what was expected. No track and trace scan facility but tables are separated by plastic.Would certainly return to this restaurant.

Not returning The service and average quality food certainly doesn’t justify the prices or a 12 and a half percent service charge We asked the waitress twice for some tap water when we ordered our wine and when our meals arrived This is the first restaurant we have visited during Covid that does not use disposable menus also seats on other tables were not wiped down after customers left Staff not particularly friendly or attentive Sorry to say it’s losing its way

We visited on a Saturday night. Our table was booked for 7pm to allow us enough time before the 10pm curfew. We sat until 8.10pm without even a drink. When the drinks finally arrived they only brought 4 of the six....they didn’t even notice that two of the party were without drinks. The food came eventually and it was fine. But I’ve had far better versions of that cuisine in other places locally. More than anything the terrible service spoiled my experience and for that reason I wouldn’t return. It’s a shame as the decor and ambience is lovely I thought. I heard another customer extremely angry as he left the restaurant and can only conclude he had a similar experience to us.

We went Friday Lunchtime 4 of us waited 20 minutes to be asked for a drinkIt was not even busy.The Prawn cocktail was Tasteless and the Duck is advertised as Crispy duckIt came up bloody and was sent back when returned it was now tough and the mash was seeped in blood .It is Expensive for what it is we had dined there several times before and always ok.It must have changed handsBottle of house wine bottle of water 2 courses £144The other thing we noticed when the tables were reset there did not seem to be any real sort of clean

Table booked for 830pm. We arrived at 820 was waiting outside until 845. Was then asked to have a drink at the bar. Was told they couldn’t ask the people to leave the table. At 910 was told we could have our starters at the bar. At 915 was told they could cook us a meal and we could take it away. Management you can’t blame the booking system this time as you confirmed the booking at 515pm. The Manageress said she couldn’t give people a time limit on the table or ask them to leave. I’ve eaten in many top restaurants and been told there is a turnaround time. Or been asked to leave. You should be reducing the number of covers you are trying to fit in with the new closure time of 10pm rather than trying to fit the same number in! I will never return and I will tell anyone who will listen of my experience!

I was greeted by Gizelle who showed me to my table, took my drinks order and ordered my food for me. She is a credit to the restaurant.There is a very good wide ranging menu. The food is delicious,well presented and plentiful.Definitely a place to revisit - in fact we already have a reservation for this week.

Placed a booking for 19:30, arrived at 19:35 to be told ‘wait at the bar’ as our table wasn’t ready, still wasn’t ready at 20:10. Was then told ‘i can’t make the previous table leave’. Awful customer service, and ended up walking out

Bit late but we went to Pivaz on the 11/07/2020 and had a great time. Went for cocktails for an 18th birthday as well as a bit to eat each. Was served by Nur who was very attentive and gave us suggestions for cocktails. Cocktails were good quality, as was the food. Would definitely recommend for a nice afternoon/evening out.

Pivaz is the modern Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant in a modern space in heart of Epping high road. All credit to it for opening so soon as it was possible and also to open properly resurrecting both its pre-lockdown opening hours and menus. I began with a smooth yoghurt dip nicely complemented by olives with chilli and cucumber dip with slices of warm crusty bread. Lamb dinner comprise thin but piquant slices of meat with thin pitta slice and salad and rice. A glass of old fashioned cocktail was it refreshing compliment. Despite the busy Friday night, the service was amazing and on the top spot. All floor staff were very welcomed and professional. We had a great time with our friends and definitely recommend to visit the place.

Ordered a takeaway tonight from this place. Ordered 3 starters, halloumi, Filo pastries and houmous. I rang in advance to ask if bread and chilli and garlic dip came as I couldn’t see it on the online menu, the lady I spoke with said yes the bread and dips will be included in my order.Food arrives freezing cold, houmous was runny and quite frankly disgusting looking and also no dips including the sweet chilli dip that was meant to come with the filo pastries. I called to complain and was told they will collect the food and refund me, I didn’t want a refund I wanted fresh HOT food what I paid for! The manager was blunt and unhelpful and could clearly care less. The delivery guy came and collected our food and still no refund!the people running this place are clearly incompetent and lazy and the food is not worth it!If you actually want a decent restaurant with this food please go to Kuzine in Theydon Bois you will receive excellent service and food unlike this place!

Decided to have a treat in these crazy times, brilliant service, most importantly the food was simply amazing, devoured every morsel, thank you guys, it really cheered is up and our tummies, looking forward to another one, go on treat yourselves people🌈

I went there last Friday with my girlfriend for our anniversary which was the right place to be. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so impressive that you feel the luxury and cosiness of the restaurant at the same time. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were never waited never over-stressed. The food including starter and main was most delicious dinner we tasted around. I was glad taking my girlfriend there, for which I got my present later :)

A friend and I visited here last evening, it was out first visit, and we were not disappointed, the staff were very helpful and very attentive and nothing seems to be a problem..Th choice of dishes was very impressive and after ordering the food arrived in a very timely manner, and we never felt rushed at all, the cold mezze was absolutely lovely and so many new dishes to try, th main course we again presented really nicely, and tasted fresh and cooked correctly.The only slight annoyance was the inclusion of a tip (15%) on the bill, I am sure they are worth it, but it should be choice, and I am also sure some clients will not notice and pay extra !!Over all a really great experience.

It was the first time of visiting this lovely restaurant and we had a absolutely perfect time arround a long table. Especially, the "Mixed vegetable stew" was amazing and good service by the attentive waiter. I'll definitely back soon.

The food and service was lovely and I genuinely enjoyed my evening but it got slightly spoilt when I saw the male waiter (not sure of his name) be extremely rude to one of the waitress there when she asked him to help clear a table as he said it wasn’t his responsibility. I felt like his rudeness toward the waitress was uncalled for and I felt for the waitress as it seemed like he had spoken to her like that before. Overall a lovely place and would definitely recommend as food, atmosphere and (generally) service is wonderful.

Only one waiter for restaurant, so service poor . Felt like I had to ask the waiter to take our plates away as had to wait so long for our main course dishes to be removed . Other tables had used crockery left at the tables for ages after guests had left . Bar area was full dirty / used glasses . Not enough staff

I went pivaz again with my husband after long week.we normally getting takeaway from there.but this time we decided to have nice Saturday dinner.Again food was delicious and service were in time and good even they were very busy.We definitely will go there again.Thank you pivaz.

I have visited Pivaz a few times with both friends and family, every time has been spot on! The food is lovely as are the staff! Pleasant atmosphere and gorgeous decor. Would definitely recommend!

Another lovely visit to Pivaz. I will continue to return to this restaurant as I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. We were five for lunch and received a warm welcome from the staff. We were shown to a lovely table in the front window. There was a very good lunchtime menu 2 courses for £11.95. Some of us picked from menu and some from the main menu - both offered a good and varied choice! We tried the Patlican Soslu, Iskender, Greek Salad and the Lamb Casserole - all good. The service was attentive - orders taken quickly and the waiting time was not too long. Everyone enjoyed the food no complaints there at all. The wine was reasonably priced and again there was a good choice both red and white. The only thing we found slightly annoying was the music. Good music but just a bit too loud.

My wife and I decided to try Pivaz for a meal together(that doesn’t happen often because of children) and I must admit I would definitely go again, the food was absolutely amazing, hot and delicious, a very beautiful little restaurant that I can’t praise enough.

Me and my partner came here for a date night, we didn’t book but managed to get in on a Friday/Saturday night. We love Turkish and this was one of the best ones I’ve ever had. The taramasalta tasted fresh and was gorgeous with the warm homemade bread, the Samar Beyti was unreal - I have this at every Turkish and this one had to be the best. Would highly recommend to everyone X
