Just called at this cafe for breakfast and what a breakfast it was ! These girls have grease free cooking down to a fine art ! Even the fried bread was crisp and delicious ! All ingredients were clean and freshly cooked no leather bacon under the warming lamp for hours here ! We travel the country with our three little dogs always on the lookout for dog friendly service and we got it here . As soon as we sat down the dogs were welcomed with a bowl of fresh clean water and a tickle ! Would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone. Friendly staff , good freshly cooked food, clean surroundings , (tables cleared immediately customers left and disinfected) and good disabled facilities . You can even go go carting next door and the family can watch through the window whilst enjoying a nice meal ! All appetites catered for from a light snack to belly buster meals . Will definitely be back and would advise anyone visiting that area to call in and enjoy a superb meal at a very fair price !

My Dad loves this place so we go every few weeks. People are lovely, food and drink are good value, served hot and the tea is good and strong. In a difficult industry, these people are doing a good job

On Marsh Barton industrial area so an ideal place for a p[erfectl;y adequate all-day breakfast . Not many places to choose from that offer an OK meal in a pleasantly clean environment

Called in twice this week, four adults two dogs , great meals great service with a smile ,i just wish they had one in gloucester that we could use, Pitstop is the best value and comfort anywhere ,.thank you .

Ordered X3 breakfasts, X2 no tomatoes it beans x1 tomatoes, quite simple, however X3 came out X2 tomatoes x1 beans, when we question it the lady was clearly not impressed and spoke quite disgustingly waving the order about saying this is what we ordered, we were unable to see the paper and I stated I definitely heard my son say beans not tomatoes as he hates tin tomatoes! Unfortunately in the end I said don't worry it's fine were just eat it and leave the tomatoes, the lady quite brashly said yes it does matter it matters as I don't like to get it wrong, the time of her voice was poor customer service making us feel we were in the wrong when 100% my son stated beans, the food was though absoloutly gorgeous and would visit again in the hope it had better customer service , all she had to do was go sorry I'll change it to beans instead of brashly speaking

Bacon Sandwich £4.99, two bits of bacon Sausage Sandwich £4.99, two little sausages. Very expensive for what is was. Sadly would not recommend. Better offers in the garage next to it! Got a two as coffee was quite nice but that was dear to. I’m not tight but there is a limit. If I’d known the prices would face left but didn’t want to embarrass my daughter.

Clean and tidy. Simple menu on the wall to choose from. Polite and helpful staff. Ordered the standard veggie breakfast that included 2 eggs and 2 vegetable sausages at £8 and all items perfectly cooked, followed by a nice latte.

Lovely place situated away the centre of Exeter, own car park, and lovely clean facilities & such polite & Friendly staff, and yummy food! Always my go to for breakfasts and great prices too, highly recommended

I think this is one of the most underrated cafés in Exeter, I’ve been going here on and off since maybe 2015 or something and the food and service is consistently fantastic, there is a wide variety of food to choose from and I always see the same faces working behind the till smiling, friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend heading over here if you’re passing by.

Myself and my husband were waiting for our car in the garage and had a wander to find somewhere to eat. We found this little cafe and sat outside as we had our dog, and ordered two drinks and cheesy chips. Both drinks were great and the cheesy chips was gorgeous! I wish I had gotten the name of the lady who served us as she was absolutely lovely. You don't often meet someone so kind and bubbly as much anymore but she made our day! She also let us know that they are a dog friendly establishment wish was great to hear! So next time we will sit inside 😊 We will definitely be going back!

Had lunch in Pit Stop and something has changed. Appearance has changed, menu seemed different and food wasn't as good as usual. Have a suspision it's been taken over by new owners. Not sure.

Whatever your hunger needs are this is the place to go from breakfast to lunch. All homemade, excellent value with the best service in town and if lucky you will get to sample the banana cake.

Good value, well cooked, not greasy Breakfast. Plenty of parking, Light and airy inside Good extractor fans in the kitchen meant our clothes did not smell of cooking.

Was very pleasantly surprised by this place. Appears more like a truckers stop but filled up quite quickly by local business employees. The All Day Breakfast was very satisfying; my partner had sausage, egg and so many chips they had to be left.I would highly recommend this place for it's friendly staff and quality of food.Great choice of place to visit.

Had fabulous brunch this morning. Portions according to appetite. Freshly cooked. Excellent service and unlimited tea and coffee top ups. My first visit but won't be my last. Also excellent value for money. Can't recommend highly enough.

we arrived about 10.15 am and were told there was a 1/2 hour wait this turned in to 1 1/4 hours there was no explanation there were 4 or 5 members of staff but only 1 look like they cooking and she was only cooking 3-4 breakfast at a time we were given a free cup of tea and the staff were all pleasant and apologizing the food was average apart from the sausages that were terrible

The traditional greasy spoon cafe is alive and well in Exeter. Great food, at a great price, place is very busy, clean and tidy... Will be back!

Me detuve para desayunar en el Pit Stop Café después de dejar mi automóvil para que lo sirviera. Esta fue mi segunda visita al Pit Stop Cafe y definitivamente no me decepcionó.

Vine hoy aquí en el camino a casa desde nuestro día en Cornualles. Encontramos una mesa enseguida. Esperamos alrededor de 10 minutos para que se tome nuestra orden. Una vez que se tomó la orden, la comida llegó bastante rápido, pero la orden de nuestros hijos estaba equivocada. Eso fue rápidamente modificado sin problemas. El desayuno que pedimos era autoservicio, estaba caliente, bien preparado y fresco. La pizza de nuestros hijos era suave y sabrosa, y mi café estaba caliente y delicioso.

Well arrived too early so decided to stop for a tea which developed in to breakfast. All nicely done could do it justice next time stick with the small one!

Had a hearty breakfast was excellent the wife not long out of hospital so was limited as on soft diet. Was no problem they did her creamy mash with cheese and a jug of gravy she loved it after having fluids only for a week.

I have been to this cafe many times and everything is cooked fresh absolutely excellent food you must try it

Second time I have visited this café and always impressed by the friendly, helpful staff as well as range of food. Added bonus is that this café is dog friendly, which is great for my husband, myself and our young Labrador. Would totally recommend.

My husband and I absolutely love this place. It’s a proper old fashioned cafe with really friendly staff. We’ve been numerous times but have both only ever had the breakfasts as they are soooo good. I love the fried mushrooms and the sausages. I hate “posh” sausages and these are great for me as there are no herbs or other flavours in them. Actually as I’m writing this I think we might have to enjoy it again tomorrow morning. I real shame for our waistlines!

Pitstop was recommended to me by the tyre-change firm up the road. What a treat! Delicious lunch, newspaper at hand, in a clean, cheerful and friendly atmosphere.

Use the pitstop at least two or three times a week I would find the staff very friendly service is very good and the food is very reasonably priced and there is a very large selection of menus for a small place

This is a tricky review to write. For a classic greasy spoon the Pit Stop Cafe nails it. They offer a wide range of dishes that you expect to find at an old school cafe and all at great prices. And on these grounds they offer an excellent service (and hence my rating).

Llamado para un desayuno. Desayuno amable personal simplemente perfecto. Caliente y bien presentada . Muy buen precio para lo que te dan en su plato. Un montón de espacio. Aroma limpio y bonito inodoros! ! Que es muy importante para mí. El hombre de la mesa de al lado había patatas y tarta con guisantes parecía super, mi próxima comida allí creo. Fui con mi amigo Ed para un desayuno durante todo el día y fue uno de los mejores great brekkies que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Sirve varias formas es ciertamente justo en el clavo y regados con una taza de té. Perfecta en cualquier momento.

Vine aquí en un par de ocasiones, en una semana y fue agradablemente sorprendidos. Es un lugar de encuentro para ciclistas, camioneros y contratistas. El lugar es limpio, tiene una gran variedad en el menú, amplio aparcamiento, muy buena a precios razonables y de las cantidades.

This should've been a good review. Just before we left a member of staff made my partner get up from her table and stand next to it so chairs could be piled on top of it. Then the cleaning started...gritted teeth, head down sweeping. When I returned from the loo I raised my eyebrows but ok it was 3.02pm and we were the last customers. We left.No sooner were our heels out of the door when it slammed shut dramatically and locked. No goodbyes or anything. A bit common for my liking and at the end of the day unwelcoming.

It may look like a truckers cafe in Marsh Barton (no offense meant by that) but go there for lunch!!! It's the best lunch I have had in a long time. I have been to places Like Hotel Du Vin in Exeter, Jamie Olivers in Bath and they don't compare. (See my reviews)They have have lovely dishes like chilli Con carne, liver, bacon and mash, fish cakes, lasagne and salad, beef casserole and the list goes on. They also have the usual menu of breakfasts, omelettes, bacon sandwich etc.This place is a little gem for good traditional lunchtime food.Love it!!!!

My wife who was unfamiliar with the area stopped here to get a coffee and ask for directions. Even though they were busy the staff went out of their way to make sure she knew where she was going.Whilst in the Pit Stop Cafe she managed to lose her mobile which the staff had found and kept safe. One call from me to the lost mobile - never expecting to see it again - was answered by the cheerful, helpful voice of Di - the owner - reassuring me that it was safe and could be picked up. Did I mention the quality of their food, the excellent value and the just good old fashioned friendly service? Make a point of dropping by this establishment ....you won't be disappointed.

I have been here several times with family and friends over the last ten years and always felt comfortable and all food we received has been wonderful. will continue to use this café whenever we are in the area . excellent.

I wouldn't normally review a roadside cafe because they are what they are and there to break up your journey. However, this one left me so impressed I wanted to give it a mention. The place was spotlessly clean and obviously well cared for, the staff were friendly and efficient and there was a good choice of food and drink. I will be calling in again on my next visit to the West Country.

I stayed here with my truck for 3 days over a weekend. Di and her staff looked after me like was an old friend. Breakfast and Sunday Roast was cooked to perfection, I travel all over Europe and as far as Istanbul and Marrakech, but The Pit Stop cafe is the best. Friendly , clean and excellent value.

Have been looking for a decent all day breakfast cafe for a while( fed up with the usual places that serve barely warm food cooked the night before) Pit stop was a welcome surprise, great selection on the menu and the all day breakfasts we ordered were piping hot,delicious and portion size was great. We would definitely recommend to anyone, and will be going there in future for our weekly fry up :)

Stopped here for a quick breakfast on my way through Exeter. Well maintained, clean interior: definitely good quality in terms of 'Greasy Spoons' (probably an unfair term in this case!).Had a cappuccino to drink, which was quite possible one of the worst I have tasted. Ordered a bacon and sausage bap which was really tasty and I can recommend. Asked for it with mushrooms on the side, which weren't that great as they lacked any kind of seasoning - I would personally always add some salt and pepper to mushrooms as it really brings out the flavour!All in all, good as far as 'Greasy Spoons' go but average as far as restaurants go.

When is a greasy spoon not a greasy spoon? When it's the Pit Stop Cafe. The all day breakfast here is amazing! Everything is spotlessly clean and the service comes with smiles from everyone. My family visited for a birthday brunch for me and my brother after having a night out the night before. Breakfasts all round were fresh, tasty and generous. It was a tough decision with so many good traditional dishes to choose from, including a roast dinner, but the breakfast won.......this time. Will definitely be coming back here to maybe try something else in the future

Only thing I can say is this place is a must visit. We often go here on a Sunday after a walk around the boot sale. Week days too yum yum great food super service and friendly staff

My partner is a builder and frequent visitor to this place on a called off wet day in his working week!!! He told me I needed to try this place fir a breakfast as its one of the best ever. We had the full breakfast and you vp an swap and change items . Especially as I don't eat eggs! I had extra bacon. It was fab and tasted great and very affordable. Would highly recommend

Exactly what you want for a great breckfast, yummy, big portions and cheap. Highly recommend. It's lovely and clean and you can't beat the prices. It's the best breckfast cafe in Exeter.

Large clean and tidy dining area, 5 star food hygiene Certificate.Large range of cooked breakfasts which all looked really good, wide range of specials like liver and bacon, beef casserole, chicken and leek pudding and cod and chips at very reasonable prices.Visited on a sunday lunchtime and lots of families in here enjoying a late breakfast and the very nice looking Sunday roast lunches they offer for a very reasonable £6.95 with a choice of 2 meats.Good range of takeaway food too with lots of parking right outside or round the back.Portion sizes are big, some of the large breakfasts were served on platters the size of dustbin lids!! :-)Nice atmosphere and quick service with a wide range to suit all including veggie options.They also offer a Buy 6 Get One Free on their All Day Breakfast which is a nice touch.No problems about returning here!

Having taken my car in for a service we called in to pit stop for something to eat..I will say this is not really the type of place ( transport Cafe ) that I normally frequent but it was excellent..we had the fried breakfast which included tea or coffee..excellent value at under £12 for both of us..the food was freshly cooked. Good quality and plentiful..the staff were very friendly..will defiantly go there again

My partner recommended this place as being an ex lorry driver he was used to visiting the Transport Cafes. We went for breakfast and had 1 x blowout breakfast (largest breakfast they do) and a small breakfast and that included tea/coffee, this came to £13 so very impressed with price. Really enjoyed the food, we only waited minutes for our food, we noticed they had pre cooked it and left it on hot plates hence the quickness. The staff weren't overly friendly buf if you were regulars like many of the other customers in there at the time then they were pleasant.The Cafe offered take away service which is handy for those working on the industrial estate eg. Delivery drivers, mechanics. Theres plenty of parking around the back of the Cafe and they also have a side room for hire for parties, meetings. Yes i will visit again as i did enjoy the breakfast. Tip: It does get busy early mornings, we got there around 10am and it was quiet.

Frequently have breakfast here, used to be a "greasy spoon" many years ago, but nothing like that now. Freshly cooked non greasy breakfast, small medium or large! Loads of choices, reasonably priced. Have recommended it to loads of people, but it is always busy.
