Pioneer Foodstore in Northumberland

I've been to Pioneer cafe before for cake but never for lunch and it's always been without fault. Today we queued to get in which is usually the norm here, it shows how popular it is. Halloumi flatbread, absolutely gorgeous and only £7.95, the other meal we had was equally as good. Didn't wait too long either. Polite and friendly staff even though they were very busy they are all good at their jobs. Will definitely return.

We are regular visitors to the Pioneer. The food is (normally) excellent and well priced. The service is (usually) slick. The place is a nice modern, quality feel to it. There is always a queue to get in (always a good sign). However, our latest visit was dissappointing. The breakfast looked as if it had been under the heater for (at least) an hour. It was awful. The service was all over the place, due to under staffing? When we tried to catch the attention of the lass serving she looked straight ahead and rushed past us, on 2 occasions. She knew we were trying to catch her attention. The same lass was on the tills as we left, and we took the final opportunity to feed back our experience. "I'll pass it on" she said. "I'll bet you won't", I replied, and I'll bet she didn't. The one thing that was correct was the billing. Not impressed. Management take note. If you don't have the staff, don't open up. Unless you reduce the charge, don't reduce the product we pay for. I'm guessing this will be the same story about not being able to attract the staff into the business etc but we DO pay for good service and good food, and therefore expect it. I'm really not trying to get the lass into bother here. The blame is at the management end of the scale - not hers. She would have been put in this position, probably filling in for others. I'll go back again, but if I get food like that, it'll be the last!

Absolutely superb. 9 of us came for breakfast one Sunday morning and were instantly seated on two tables. We ordered and had our food with us in 7 minutes! The food was delicious and the staff were so impressive, friendly and professional, turning round tables in epic time but not making us feel rushed at all. We will definitely be visiting next time we are up north!

Popped in to the pioneer food store to get a takeaway bacon bap and sausage bap, when I got home the sausage bap was really good and filled the large bap, I gave the other bap with bacon to my wife who took the top off to season it. One small rasher of bacon in a large bap. REALLY. Who puts one rasher in a bacon sandwich, if there is a next time I will pay extra to make sure I get a proper sandwich, Hope it was a one off and not following instructions

Wear a late breakfast and Eggs Benedict with salmon. Food and service was excellent. Our seating position near the exit door meant it was very cold.

The cafe was freezing cold today, everyone was sat with their coats & hats on. I don’t think it helped that they kept the doors open due to the large queue in the corridor. Ordered the eggs Benedict. Presentation was beautiful, however, the ham was stone cold and the bun/muffin appeared not to have been toasted so was dry and cold. Such a shame as it looked so good! I would suggest in future that the cold ham is warmed up so that the dish isn’t served cold. Service really good so thanks for that.

Four of us popped in for breakfast and was 100% worth the drive over the border! It was really busy but Fiona was super efficient and got us seated after just short wait. Food and coffee really good quality and value for money. Great menu with options for everyone and lush looking cakes if just a coffee stop. The team work so well together so minimum waits - Fiona the star for us today. A cracking smile goes a long way :-) Defibe back.

This is actually a butchers (with a huge range of meat products). But just right of the door is a little counter where they serve bacon rolls thick with tangy bacon and - even better - little cumberland sausages just about small enough not to burst out of their roll. Great taste and - at £2.25 - brilliant value. That wouldn't buy a bottle of water on the nearby M6, so this is well worth a detour. No veggie/vegan options. Take out only.

Great food at bargain prices, served by polite friendly staff. Nice choice of sandwiches, light meals ( although generous portions) and drinks and cakes.

If you want a "sustantial" snack then go no further. The flat bread selection is excellent, very tasty and well presented. The service is excellent, very clean and observing current hygene rules, with well spread out tables. Not overpriced and well worth the charge.

Great produce and service - a little over done some of breakfast but quality produce AND gluten Free bread on request - very happy to help with any questions

My sister and I each had the Pioneer mini-breakfast. Service was great but the food was served on cold plates. Also both the bacon and the baked beans were dried up. The butter for the toast was rock hard. There is no excuse for these mistakes and we will not return.

The Pioneer Foodstore offered Great Service & Fantastic Foodstore. Loved this place and would certainly recommend a visit!

Visited this lovely cafe today and i ordered the chefs special and i must say it was beautiful will be back to try more of your menu and the staff couldn't have been any more helpful

Popped in on chance, my wife and I were shown to our table by a lovely young girl who explained the ordering and serving procedures, distance measures were in place. The food was really fresh and tasty, plus it was reasonably priced as well. We will definitely look to back in the future

Shopped at pioneer today. They have put prices up on bulk buy packs. Disgusting Is this not profiting from virus
