Went to Pinocchio's for lunch on Monday 15 May, went on various Web pages for opening times all said open Monday lunch time however restaurant was closed with shutters up when we got there at 12 45. Disappointed.

Visited here for a date night and was very disappointed we were in and out within 50 minutes the plates were cold ( ie. served hot food on cold plates??). The restaurant was very cold and when I went upstairs to use the bathroom facilities it was Baltic no heating on at all upstairs!! It was very rushed and the atmosphere in the restaurant was also cold. Food was average would not recommend or return ….drive through a take longer !!

Not overpriced, reasonable sized portions and service was ok. I had the bolognaise and the sauce was very tasty.

Never been before, booked a table for 10 of us for a meal & catchup, they cater very well for Celiacs on a gluten free diet which was great for two of our group, every dish was enjoyed & had that authentic Italian feel, plus the staff were entertaining & tentative at the right level, loved it we will return. Great value too!.

We've been coming to this lovely restaurant since it opened 42 years ago when it was an oasis in Barnsley, the only decent restaurant that we had. It was so good to be back there tonight. The food was gorgeous, the service was excellent and the wine was really nice. Thank you Leo. Can't wait to come back.👍🇮🇹

Ordered a Prawn Cocktail starter, and found a caterpillar, or other such grub, crawling around on it. It was replaced by another which was ice cold, and barely defrosted. the main course - calzone, was raw in the middle. Had to eat the edges and topping, but the rest was inedible. My other half had pasta in a so called sauce, but it was very watery. Won't be going back!

Went out as a group of 10 for a meal before an event at the metro dome and having looked at the reviews before hand for this restaurant, was really looking forward to the meal. This place has very limited food choice, sold out or unavailable on lots of the food items, tables felt dirty and sticky, waiter didn’t appear to know what he was doing and then when the food Arrived… I had carbonara and had to use a spoon to eat it, as it was like soup! I had two pieces of ham in the whole dish. My partner ordered the bread basket, when it came it was two slices, one of them being a crust of a bread loaf, white bread, cut up into triangles. Puddings we’re frozen solid like they had been at the bottom of a freezer for Weeks. Cold coffees. Just really really disappointing. Definitely won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend to others

My wife and I had a lovely meal here last night. My wife had the meat balls to start followed by the Smoked Salmon Pasta. I had the Garlic Prawns and then a classic Pinnochios pizza, Prosciutto e Funghi. All the food was good and the service was great. The meal was really good value and of a high quality. It was so good to be back and we will definitely return soon.

We used to come here regularly years ago and then for one reason or another stopped eating in town so haven’t been here for a while. We visited between lockdown 1 and 2 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were great and the food was delicious - just how we remembered it. I had garlic mushrooms and a pizza funghi and it was all yummy. We definitely won’t be leaving it so long next time.

Moved away from Barnsley a few years ago so not been to Pinochios for a while. Food still fantastic, authentic Italian Ristorante and Leo still using his Meditteranian Charm!! Best Italian in Barnsley by far!!!

About our 10th visit and never disappointing. No frills authentic place with excellent service. Always a good specials board. House wine is great value and the draught Peroni is superb.

dropped in for dinner without booking. Although pretty full not a problem for the welcoming staff, to find us a top seat with a cool air con, and not too load Italian music playing in the background. Fantastic Italian ambience.What a great restaurant. What have we been missing. Of course the attentive busy lady soon served us with an order of wonderful Italian food and Wine, My wife pointed out to me the whole evening cost less than half the price of the want to be Italian restaurant (Bistro Romano) with a lying owner. which I will never use again, or recommend, only the contrary.

Out for family birthday. The food was excellent and well cooked, steaks to perfection and vegetables al dente as they should be. Reasonable prices and was a pleasant evening out. Everyone seemed to have something different and shared. Fantastic!

This little restaurant has fabulous food. The decor needs refreshing. But that apart the food is good and staff friendly. Been many times over the years. Nothing pretentious.just good authentic Italian

This was a last minute large party celebration booking and the restaurant couldn't have been more accommodating. They even put up banners for us. The food was tasty and wholesome. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We thought it was very good value for money. The only negative was that the decoration is very tired but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the evening.

Visited with friends to celebrate my wife's 40th Birthday party, everyone of us loved the food, superb home cooked Italian !! thanks for having us, the staff where great with brilliant service, enjoyed the singing !!

Having just had a birthday meal for my daughter this weekend I can honestly say that it ws the worse meal I’ve ever had! 5 out of 5 main meals were dire, I would hope at an Italian restaurant a pizza would be a safe bet but having to hack through the bases on 3 of the pizzas and the 2 calzones were raw inside it was an experiance I never want to repeat.

Visited on 17/11/18 - my partner and I had 3 courses and 1 side with the main each and a bottle of red. Bill came to £60 which was as expected. Food was all very nice, particular highlight was the Brie starter my better half enjoyed. For me it was perfect in terms of not been busy and had a window seat as requested. Maybe not the place if you like a lot going on around you. I would say the decor is getting old and probably needs freshening up and we were enjoying Enrique Iglesias which is fine but the guy is Spanish?

I really wanted a steak and my other half suggested this restaurant. I have to admit I was unsure at first. I can confirm that I wasn’t disappointed. In fact I think I’d go as far as to say it was the best fillet steak I’ve ever had! It was huge and cooked to perfection (I like it rare). It melted in my mouth. I was shopping in town with my 4yo girl and we’ve basically exhausted all dining in town, we walked past Pinocchios, and mentioned they did pasta to her delight! we looked at the menu and went inside to be seated... the food was lovely and for what we paid generous enough, the owner was attentive and nothing was too much trouble would return...

We went to Pinocchio's having not been for quite a while, we were not disappointed the food was as good as ever, it was so good we returned again just a few week later. The prices are affordable they do an early evening menu which is amazing value for money. I have gone to this restaurant for over 30 years and still enjoy the food best cannelloni outside Italy.

Came with my family to celebrate 3 birthdays. We had a fantastic evening. Food was excellent an generous portions. Service was brilliant, friendly and efficient. The waitress was lovely, very attentive and was particularly impressed with the way she treated the two children in our party, giving them a big tub of sweets to chose from.

This is a very nice restaurant the customer service was very good and the final bill was good too as this is not too expensive. The menu is good but missing a risotto. The only downside that I could find was the temperature which was cold.

Went with a friend for lunch, been loads of times before and it’s always been excellent. However it seems to have suffered from cost cutting shrinkflation but the prices and menu remain the same. I had a ciabatta, it used to be a whole ciabatta cut in 2 both with toppings, on a large plate with chips or an excellent salad or you could do 50/50. The ciabatta yesterday was a panini bread roll with only topping on the base then the dry lid added. The salad contained 1 slice of cucumber, a wedge of tomato, 2 slices of pepper, salad leaves and onion. It used to be twice the size with olives, more peppers and a choice of dressing and more chips than yesterday. My friend had tomato and tuna ciabatta and she struggled to find any tuna. Very disappointing as it’s been our shopping ‘go to’ for about 10 years.

Last came here approximately 12 years ago. Loved it then. Love it still. Beautiful authentic Italian food served by pleasant staff. What could be better?

A great little Italian in Barnsley town centre that is ideal for a spot of lunch. There is a special lunch time menu that is very reasonably priced. Our group tried various pizzas and pasta dishes and they were all nice.

Back again this time for anniversary meal but just us two for a change started with garlic bread then my wife had mushrooms then pasta for mains I had prawn and salmon starter then fillet steak medium rare which was perfection add two pints of peroni a bottle of house red then coffee and we had a marvellous evening never had a poor meal here had the usual banter with leo but sad and disappointed to learn greig the chef who does my steak is leaving

Hemos estado viniendo a este restaurante desde que abrió en 1980 y lo seguirá haciendo. Espero que nunca tiene una reforma moderna y quiero al personal de siempre, Leo es magnífico y la señora que es la camarera jefe es genial. Lo principal con cualquier restaurante es la comida y Pinocchios parece ir de fuerza a fuerza. El menú estándar tiene todos los favoritos habituales, pero lo que ha mejorado es el ofertas especiales. Elegimos empezar de las ofertas especiales y eran excelentes, que tenía Whitebait y mi esposa tenía un queso azul y espárragos tortitas, ambos eran preciosas. Cuando visite la pizza es entonces Pinocchios obligada, cómo consiguen la base tan finas, crujientes y sabrosas? Cuando tuvimos nuestra Pizza era como nos habían transportado atrás en el tiempo y nos sentimos como veinte y tantos de nuevo. Por favor, no cambiar nada, seguir haciendo lo que mejor sabe Pinocchios y seguro que volveré.

The meal deal during week is excellent value for money. Everything is so tasty. Would definitely recommend we try to come at least a month.

Food is reasonably priced but average. Service from table staff was faultless but chefs attitude was appalling. Asked for peas instead of salad for a small child and chef was clearly overheard saying angrily "can't they read, the menu is the menu" we had ordered another meal that came with peas anyway so not exactly much of a hardship. Won't be going back.

The food and service is really good. Especially for the price. The thing that lets it down is the decor. I don't think it's had a lick of paint in 30 years. It's definitely a case for Restaurant Impossible. If it sorted that out then it would be even more popular.

The service (particularly from the waitress) throughout the evening and the food was great. Good midweek offer, everyone really enjoyed their food, the atmosphere was good. Will definitely be back.

Pinocchio's is an Italian restaurant in the heart of Barnsley town centre serving excellent home cooked food. The lunchtime menu is wide-ranging (choose from omelette, pizza and pasta dishes, soup or sandwiches) and the evening menu comprises both Italian and English food. All food is made freshly to order with personalised service that is exemplary!

Friendly staff, lovely little Italian restaurant. Wouldn't go anywhere else when I'm back home in Barnsley. The food was beautiful as ever, highly recommended!

I really don't know what people like so much about this restaurant. I've had a few meals here over the years and have come to the conclusion that it's ok at best.On a recent shopping trip we popped in here for a lunch break and thought we'd have the "special" Christmas menu. Nothing special about it, I'm afraid. And nothing remotely "Christmasy".Ordinary garlic mushrooms followed by awful salmon - way, way overcooked until solid and dry, served with undercooked standard English veg. With a soft drink each the bill for the 2 of us was £33. Poor value indeed.Won't be back.

We dined here a couple of weeks ago whilst in Barnsley on business. The meal was absolutely delicious, great service and reasonably priced. The Mozzarella Carrozza starter is a winner, I had the Linguine Granseola too (Crab Linguine) which was beautiful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we'll be back if ever in the area again.

We have been to Pinocchio's a couple of times with our son and his partner,they think that it is great but we are not as thrilled.It is OK but to my wife and myself we have been in a lot better.The last time we went there was a big group in having a party and the noise was terrible.We could not have a conversation for the noise next to us.

Being going to Pinocchios for family treats for almost 40 years now and it never fails to impress. The food and the service were just as impressive last Saturday when we visited with our Daughter and her husband as they were when my Wife went for her hen party 32 years ago. Much better value than the high street chains.

The lunch menu was poor so had a starter & shared a pizza. The food was nice but not the best Italian I have been to. I felt the restaurant decor needed updating & a good clean! The toilet seat fell off when I sat on it & I am on the thin side by the way!!! The waitress was very friendly but the guy who brought out our food looked like he needed a good wash & new clothes which put me off! I am not sure I would visit again.

Visited for a birthday celebration, 10 of us of differing ages, all thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of us had the midweek offer, 2 courses and a drink for £10.95...bargain. Light and crispy garlic breads with ample topping, garlic mushrooms in a lovely creamy sauce just the right consistency, tasty pasta dishes and great portion sizes. The food off the specials board was also excellent. The house wine is pleasant and included in the deal, as is Peroni. Having been to a different local Italian recently which was twice the price and nowhere near as good, I'm really impressed with Pinocchio's.

A mid-week family birthday celebration meal which was surprisingly good. Don't know why we don't come here more often. A lovely Italian meal which was very good value on their set 2 course with drink menu for £10.85. Everyone had a lovely time and it doesn't break the bank. We will be back.

I've been coming here since I was 16 when it first opened. I've never had a bad meal or poor service and I am considerably older now and somewhat more experienced in eating out. We ate there again last weekend with my sister and she and I had the sea bass. Sublime. Excellent house wine. Great friendly service. Perfect for friends and family.

Called in here for a bite to eat while on a short visit to Barnsley. It seemed a nice atmosphere from the start with a couple of small family groups and a party of young ladies who seemed to be having a good time. As the evening progressed, more people arrived in groups of 2 or 3 (all female) and there was a good "buzz" about the place.My partner and I both went for the set early evening menu of a starter, main and drink which we thought was good value for (I think) £11 each. My garlic mushrooms came with bread and were very tasty - simple but tasty and served quickly. My pertner enjoyed her bruschetta too. My main course was Lasagne and was thoroughly enjoyable - scaldingly hot but oh so very tasty. I could have eaten it again; not because there wasn't enough of it but I loved it so much. If I come back I'll be sure to get a side order of bread to mop up the wonderful sauce. My partner had a pizza and said it was fine. I'm not a pizza fan so I resisted the tempation to try some and just took her woird for it.The service was friendly and efficient and we left feeling pleased with our experience.

We have visited Pinocchios twice over last couple of months, with family who live up north. A group of 10. Both times the food has always been lovely. Very quick service, a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Went here last night with my mum and daughter. We had the evening £10.95 two course special including drink. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice, the staff were attentive without been overbearing and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Excellent value for money. Only negative was the noise from another table and as the restaurant is only small this made it difficult to have a conversation at times. Will definately return.

My friend and I went to this restaurant for lunch break. We ordered and the man who served my friend was very poor, very bad attuide and very aggressive towards her, when she only asking for clarity about order before service as very difficult to hear while the background was very noisy. We were shocked he was abrupt, stormed off with no knowledge about what was in the food and leave my friend upset. Later, he was rude with how he served a glass of water to my friend again. The man have no respect and patience to the sign language users. That's discriminate. Very disgusting attitude. The other waiter (lady) was nice and friendly served us with food that only a reason for added a star.

I went to pinocchios for a birthday meal with my family and was very impressed with the food and service. Everybody I was with was happy with their food and the deserts were great too. The staff also brought over a free shot for me as it was my birthday which was a nice surprise. Well worth a visit and I would happily go again.

I enjoyed the meal, although I could of made the pasta and sauce I had easily at home. It tasted exactly the same as a tin of Heinz tomato soup! With pasta and chicken and mushrooms in.

We booked here for myself and a friend for a Friday night. We didn't have any starters but went straight for main courses. I had a special of Seabass Ravioli in a butter sauce which was beautiful. My friend had a pasta with pepper and peas (I forgot the name but you can have it with or without ham) and she really enjoyed it.For dessert we both had the passionfruit cheesecake which was gorgeous.Great service and lovely food as always Pinocchios!

Well. I came here to celebrate my younger brother's birthday in September 2015. The food? Don't get me started...I found 3 large blonde hairs in my main course which was spaghetti bolognese, they weren't mine as my hair is jet black. It put me off from eating the rest, but I did anyway as we had paid for it. Aside from that, it was extremely bland and lacking so many things. We also ordered a ham and pineapple pizza which was cold. My desert was a Tiramisu which was just average.Not to mention the owner is the most miserable human being to ever walk this earth. No "welcome", no "have a nice day" nothing. Please avoid. Just take my advice. :)

We came across this restaurant whilst shopping on a Saturday, and were attracted by the competitive prices and menu options. The welcome was friendly and our orders were taken promptly. When served, the quality and quantity of the meals was great. The value for money for a Saturday lunch was excellent. The restaurant is very slightly away from the main centre, but is definitely worth visiting.

Myself, my mum and sister enjoy a meal at this restaurant at least once a month. Food is always outstanding! Staff are always welcoming, what more could you want from a meal out!

Visited for an early evening meal for a family members birthday. Food was spot on! Really nice.Wouldn't go back as I've never been spoken to as rudely by the owner when I arrived at the restaurant. Shame about that - perhaps he needs to take a step back and allow the waitresses to serve people without being on the scene if he can't learn his manners!

I went to this restaurant with my partner before attending a wedding nearby. As I'm not from Barnsley I don't know the area but the parking provided was poor ~ down a dark dirty alley which I didn't feel was safe. We were lead to our table in the centre of a very crowded noisy room with little atmosphere. The waitress didn't explain the specials and had very limited knowledge of the wines they sold. The muscles starter was delicious! My main of salmon with asparagus was nice but the asparagus was overcooked and soggy. Me and my partner also felt the restaurant was extremely cold and when it came to it I felt reluctant to fork out nearly £60 for meals we didn't really enjoy. Sorry guys but much improvement is needed! I came following trip advisor ratings and was heavily disappointed!

A place to feel comfortable! With Leo as the most welcoming host and a melt in the mouth steak it was a fabulous evening! This Italian restaurant has been in Barnsley as long as I can remember, I have visited for 30 years and it never fails to disappoint.

Was taken here by a business colleague for lunch. Service excellent, honest and friendly. Food was good too, real Italian food authentic and good value.

Used to like this place, always great portion sizes, food is ok, but not exceptional.Last time we visited we sat upstairs, I find this area, poor and lacking in the ambience that the downstairs area provides.Still, it's worth a visit.

We have been using this restaurant for many years & can honestly say have never had a bad meal...The staff have always been very helpful with regards to allergy advice (our son has a peanut allergy) & nothing is too much trouble.Takeaway meals we have found to be just as good. The calzone stephano is amazing!! Keep up the good work & Thankyou .

Visited here a while ago and was looking forward to it as heard great reviews but had a fly cooked into my pizza and luckily as eating it with a knife and fork and being a fussy eater noticed something black in my margarita pizza turned out to be a massive fly in the base under the cheese. Obviously I complained and the manager apologised and said just pay for ya drinks the food is free, if this was my restaurant the customer would be paying for nothing.

Maybe due to the fact that I'd sunk a few glasses of wine before the starter had come, however I have also visited at lunch time to try out the cheaper menu and I think that the quality of food is very poor. The man who works there (maybe the manager) is very rude and needs to work on his attitude towards customers. Overall the visit won't be one that I'd like to make again.
