Great place, great food, reasonably priced well lit, excellent staff, we will go again definitely, but I will be putting cotton wool in my ears, due to the loud clientele, but that's what a good busy Italian restaurant is like Ha Ha ☆☆☆☆☆ 👌

Great Italian restaurant. Very nice food, good service and decent prices. Early bird menu is real value for money if you want multiple courses.

Mezzaluna in Barnsley is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is both elegant and cozy. The attention to detail in the décor adds to the restaurant’s charm, making it a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. The food was simply outstanding — each dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with fresh ingredients. You can truly taste the care and passion that goes into the cooking. The restaurant itself was impeccably clean, which only enhanced the experience. On top of that, the staff were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and always making sure we had everything we needed. Mezzaluna offers the perfect blend of great food, a lovely ambiance, and outstanding service. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Mostly lovely food but they don't know how to serve affogato!

The dining experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. For a place that advertises itself as an Italian restaurant, the pasta dishes were shockingly subpar. The Bolognese was dry and completely lacking in flavor—it tasted like something a beginner could make better. The seafood pasta was equally disappointing, with no sauce and an overwhelming blandness. To make matters worse, the main waiter was unprofessional, making inappropriate jokes in front of children, which was completely out of line. The lamb dish was undercooked and nearly inedible. I strongly suggest revisiting the menu and hiring a competent chef. As it stands, the Italian dishes are far from authentic and frankly, an embarrassment to Italian cuisine.

Mezzalunas is a lovely place and the food is always exceptional. I had the steak which was mouth watering. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and Leo makes everything run smoothly

Myself and 3 other guests attended your restaurant yesterday for a birthday meal as it was one of the guests 21st. We were hoping for a nice special meal but instead we left upset and disappointed. The decor and everything is lovely inside so we had high hopes for the place. We ordered and everything seemed okay, until a waitress came and quite literally slammed a plate of bread down on the table and walked off. The starters came and we thought they were okay nothing too special but okay- the portion sizes of these could have been bigger considering the price point. Now the mains came and all I can say is absolutely dreadful. My partner had a meat pizza and it came dripping in oil and quite literally like was the texture of cardboard. It was simply inedible. We ordered the cheese and tomato garlic bread and only received the garlic and cheese bread and if I could find a staff member I would have mentioned that. The texture of the garlic bread was also like cardboard. I had the chicken cannelloni and it arrived looking and tasting like a bowl of sick, there was no chicken in it what so ever it was simply just mushroom. One friend had the lobster ravioli which I have never seen smaller prawns in my life, they were no bigger than a thumb nail. He said it was tasteless and there was no lobster inside what so ever. Overall the experience at Mezzaluna was dreadful and we definilty will not be returning. Not once throughout our meal was we asked if the food was okay or if everything was okay we were simply ignored. The waiter came to clear the plates and he didn’t once ask if we wanted anything else. I got the feeling that they wanted you in and out very quickly. The bill came to 128 pound so it definilty wasn’t a cheap meal out considering the quality of food and service. I write this email to you not because we want anything in return but to let you know about our experience. I felt like I couldn’t complain when we left purely because it was for a 21st birthday and I didn't want to cause a scene.

Very noisy as the acoustics are echoey. Gin and Tonic was served with ALL tonic in the glass rather than with the tonic seperate for me to add what I wanted, not what the bar thought I wanted. Disappointing drink. 6 adults, 1 child, 2 courses, 7 drinks plus one bottle wine £250 bill.

My first visit to Mezzaluna and will certainly be returning.The best fillet steak I have had I quite a while. The service and food deserves a 10/10

This place is amazing, I’ve been coming now for just over 6 months and every time is perfect the staff are lovely, the food is incredible and it’s everytime. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

I was unaware the restaurant has an 'early bird special'. On arrival, the restaurant was extremely busy and loud. They put myself and other half at a table in centre of restaurant. I requested to move to a table near a wall as I am very hard of hearing, this request was denied as the table in question could seat 4 people. 10 minutes later they gave the requested table to a different party of 2 people. For starters the garlic prawns was really nice, the meatballs were average. The two mains of pasta were really below average. We both left over half of the main meal each, the waiter didn't even question why or ask if everything was OK. Maybe the experience will be better when not in early bird time period, I will not be finding out as I will never visit this restaurant ever again.

Went here midweek for a mini celebration meal. Food beautiful as always, staff lovely, and pretty good value for money. Where the disappointment came from was the bill. 10% surcharge was added for service which I find ridiculous. I'm in a restaurant, what am I supposed to do, go fetch the food myself from the kitchen? I don't like the way this is going in this country, tips should be discretionary. When I came to pay I wasn't asked if I was happy to pay the charge, it was just assumed I would pay. I dont get tips in my job, and there is no way that any of the staff in there are laid less than me.

We had the pleasure of celebrating a 40th birthday here. The food and service was that good we returned the following week for the early bird menu. The food and service were again fantastic. We will make this our go to Italian restaurant in Barnsley in future. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Had Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. There was a good choice of meats and it was plentiful. The Yorkshire puddings were huge and the gravy was really tasty. We will definitely be back

Not been here for years and was plesently surprised. The decors lovely and a good atmosphere. The staff were amazing, to say how busy it was, we were seated and served immediately, the staff were friendly and efficient and asked us a couple if times if everything was ok. The food, coffees and house wine was very good. Overall a very enjoyable evening and we will definitely return.

The food was beautiful but ran out of lamb shank and sticky toffee pudding fir some of our party which was a shame. Would definitely recommend 👌

Decor and atmosphere was absolutely electric, my brother in Law's head nearly fell off when he saw the waitress 🤣 staff were attentive and calm and the boss man did me a really good red wine called a montepulciano for less than 6 quid! 100/100 would go back again!!!

Food is always good , friendly staff and a lovely ambience. Can be a bit noisy with all the groups of people celebrating special occasions so perhaps not ideal for the "quiet" romantic dinner.

Perfect. I simply adore this restaurant in my beautiful village. Parking available for those who need. Restaurant as a bar area if you are early. Lovely venue, clean and well decorated. The menu has lots to choose from without being over complicated. Daily specials board and an early bird option too which is excellent value. Lovely staff and the service is efficient and friendly. Great quality ingredients cooked exceptionally well.

Amazing family party here tonight the food was scrumptious and the restaurant ambiance is fabulous the staff very friendly and efficient we feel very thrilled to have enjoyed our family meal here and would recommend to anyone this 5 star restaurant

First class, highly recommended

While staying in the area, our host, recommended this restaurant so we pre booked for dinner. On arrival we were unsure if we had to pay for parking but the staff assured us it was okay to park at that time. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and was quite full and buzzing for a Thursday night. Our dinner was delicious, I had a scrumptious risotto and my Partner a meatball tagliatelle. The desserts were amazing. There were lots of big tables full of people celebrating different occasions. We look forward to a return visit when next in the area.

This was our first visit and we went for the early bird, my partner had 2 courses I had 3 and paid extra for a steak, when we got our bill they had charged us £4.95 each for the veg and £5,95 for a dessert which we queried, they knocked the dessert money off as it came in our offer but on the menu it says chips, veg or salad it should say chips or veg or salad we know for the future but when you go to Miller and Carter they always ask if you have been before to explain things perhaps they should do the same. The front of house guy is miserable and doesn't talk unless you are a table full of women then he sits down with them, not that I want him to sit with me but a smile or is everything ok costs nothing. I will go again as it was a nice meal.

Revisited Mezzalunas after a long break due to poor food from previous owner, this no longer is the case I cannot recommend the whole experience high enough, staff,food,atmosphere excellent, thankyou Mezzalunas for a great Sunday lunch.

Had a great meal. I had the chicken in tomato sauce with chips and the homemade tiramisu and my partner had the grilled chicken and cheesecake. Great early bird price, we will return.

food was horrible was not worth the extortionate price , waitress was rude and rolled her eyes at us everytime we odered, found a hair in the lemon sorbet , atmosphere was great but too loud , bathroom stunk overall horrible experience will NOT be going back

Really good food and brilliant staff. I had not been here for a few years because it went through a really bad time but it is just wonderful now. We were a small group of friends and we were looked after by lovely staff who were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was just superb and I cannot recommend enough.

First visit today for Mums milestone birthday. From arrival to us leaving all the staff were very friendly, polite, attentive and could not do enough for you. Nothing was too much to ask. The environment was very clean, spacious and welcoming. Exceptional food which was reasonably well priced. On behalf of myself and my family, I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for making sure my Mums birthday was a joyous and more special occasion. Will definitely be recommending this venue and visiting again.

Went for fathers day Sunday lunch and still had a choice for Italian menu food really yummy staff so polite and friendly clean place parking was good will definitely be back hope it's sooner then later a lovely place thankyou to all the staff x

Excellent service, every dish was very nice, they did gluten free pasta for myself & a fantastic homemade gluten free pizza for my daughter, the whole experience was enjoyed by all, they also altered dishes to suit our needs/tastes, very reasonably priced too. We will be returning.

Can't give 4 stars for food as there is very little choice for vegetarians. I liked my starter and my main as okay. But staff are lovely and plenty of choice for meat eaters.

The quality and presentation really showed the true authenticity of Italian food. The spaghetti carbonara was honestly one of the nicest I have ever tasted and there is a fantastic choice of starters and puddings. The service was very friendly but slightly slow in parts. Overall a beautifully decorated restaurant with a happy and relaxed atmosphere. I would absolutely come back here again.

Last minute girls night and mezzaluna didn't disappoint! It was amazing from start to finish! We had the early bird 3 course menu and it was delicious! Great food, great atmosphere and great service! Would highly recommend! We will be back! 5 stars!! X

Booked a table for 8 and cannot find fault with anything, spotless clean, excellently presented , staff smartly dressed and all very polite friendly and funny, service absolutely spot on , as was the food cooked excellent. Very good quality and value. Only one very slight niggle was out table was just a tad small I thought but certainly not uncomfortable. All in all a lovely evening. Recommended highly

Been here a few times now and the food is absolutely beautiful. Easily the best Italian restaurant in Barnsley without a doubt. Highly rate the lasagna it's the best I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back.

During lockdown they have stayed open providing a takeaway service. I have to say that the 4 occasions I've ordered from there that the food has been on time, hot and very tasty. Despite it being takeaway the standard of food has been extremely high.

I've been to this restaurant on a few occasions and always had a great time the food is first class and I would definitely recommend the Barnsley chop .
