Sad to say that Pinky Murphy’s is no more….it was a super quirky cafe come coffee shop come artistic venue. Guessing Covid, Brexit and rent all had something to do with its demise.

No trip to Fowey is complete without a visit to Pinky’s. The owner is a delight, as are her attentive staff. Food is always delicious and the atmosphere convivial. We stumbled across this cafe, having arrived in the area too early to get into our rental house. As luck would have it, a table on the tiny terrace was available and we sat with fantastic views over the River Fowey in the sunshine. A very friendly woman took our order and food arrived quickly. The mixed salad was good. Fairly limited menu but all fine.

We have visited Pinky Murphys many times before and had good food and good service previously. However, on Saturday we 6 of us arrived at 2pm for drinks and cakes and one sandwich. We were told that there was a half hour wait (due to the Christmas fair) and were ok about this. Strangely, the drinks arrived first and then nothing.By 3pm, when other customers who had arrived after us had been served with food and drink, we decided to leave. The lady in charge did not agree we had waited an hour and argued that the sandwich had caused this huge display. Rude and unfriendlyWe will not be going back, despite being frequent visitors to Fowey.

We used to come here a lot for brunch. I think it may have changed hands as the menu options are not as varied as i remember and this was reflected as it was nowhere near as busy as in previous years. They used to do English breakfasts, avacado and eggs etc. That said the staff are lovely and i had a great halloumi burger and nice milkshake. The clientale seemed to have changed from families and young people to pensioners having tea and cake which perhaps again is due to the reduced menu variety. The decor is still the same slightly off the wall funky style though that sets it apart. Location slightly out of town perhaps means people don't brave he traffic so much. Lovely comfy arm chairs and kids cartoons on TV, nice light airy boathouse and upstairs there is a bar with estuary views. Family friendly with changing room and highchairs.

Called around lunchtime mid June on a not too busy day after reading the mostly good reviews here. Daughter ordered something like a cheese and onion toasty and was told they were out of onion. Wife had ordered a pastie but after a few mins a different member of staff came back to say they were out of pasties... what no pasties in a Cornwall eatery! She offered an alternative of a cheese and onion toasty. We had to remind her we knew they were out of onion.
