Popped over to a pink lane bakery stall whilst I was visiting a local food market. Having been to the store in Newcastle I knew whatever I'd ordered would be delicious but still had a difficult time choosing due to the huge selection. One member of my party got the miso nut roast roll and they thoroughly enjoyed it, another got a pastel de nata which they loved (after they encouraged me to try a bit i had to go back and get another one to eat later it was unreal) and I ordered a massive hazelnut pain au chocolate that i had to enjoy throughout the day it was so indulgent. Thank you for making such amazing treats!! And thank you to the person on the stall who absolutely recognised me returning for more and didn't judge me lmao. Oh and there were a couple vegetarian options which is always fab to see!

That beautiful almighty ALMOND CROISSANT. Divine; fixes everything in your life the second you bite into it. Just the perfect bite and perfect texture and so enjoyable. It's quite big but I ate that thing in one sitting - it fills you up! The BEST almond croissant I've ever experienced; nothing will ever beat it I fear (and for that purpose, please bring one to East London where I live lol). It just made me so happy. And the Pastel de Nata is so good too! Light and creamy, perfect sweetness. Good vibes all around. 10/10.

Everything here is superawesome. Although a bit pricier than the norm, this is a proper independent artisan bakery. Both sweet and savoury alike are delicious. I've been here multiple times over the years and was here again this morning. I recommend the sausage rolls and raspberry crumble pastries but regardless what you get, everything is great 👍.

Was in Newcastle for first time since Covid. Had to have the sausage roll, I judge ALL sausage rolls against this sausage roll, it’s still the best, but today I encountered the mince pie! OMG the best mince pie I have ever tasted! Can you post them to London?

This place offers great food, the sandwiches are amazing especially the goats cheese however the shop is small and limited stock so you have to get there early, if you want to sit in and have a better range of stock then I would go to the Jesmond one. I regularly visit the Newcastle shop, mostly for the excellent plant based options, the vegan croissants are the best I’ve ever had, the miso and mushroom roll is also a total star. But regardless if you are vegan or not the selection of pastries / cakes, breads and sandwiches are vast, always served by some of the friendliest lovely people I have met since moving to the Toon in 2016, Pink Lane Bakery is absolute gem of a place.

What a fantastic independent bakery. The staff were so friendly and their baked goods are to die for. Their sausage roll was how a sausage roll should be, loads of meat and really crumbly, flakey pastry. The cinnamon roll is lovely and the carrot cake is heavenly along with their delicious hot chocolate. Absolutely fantastic!!

We were pleasantly surprised to see such a long queue in the morning! It was at 9:45am, and this bakery was bustling with life. The baked goods were delicious. The cheese pastries (can’t remember the name, something like a cheesecake?), cinnamon buns, and the coffees were splendid. This was our first time visiting in the morning, and it was lovely to see the variety of baked goods available. The smell was heavenly.

Lovely little independent bakery. The person serving is was lovely and service was quick. Gave us directions to a lovely Chinese garden round the corner to sit and eat in. There was a great selection of freshly baked pastries and they were massive. Proper Yorkshireman portion! Really fair priced considering the size of them too! When you can shake a stick in Newcastle and hit 4 different Gregg's it's nice to put money in an independent bakery. Forgot to take photos as we were famished and ate everything before I remembered! This is an easy 5* and will absolutely return whenever we go back to Newcastle again

I worked nearby and for lunch had the steak and ale pie. Which is excellent. Think Greggs steak bake but a posh version. Baked in a lovely shortcrust pastry. They apparently do the pies for the Red House pub on the quayside. So, most of the time they'd have the pies, not impressed that sometimes they hadn't baked enough. It was a 10 minute walk from work. So to get there and find no pies...... I only had half an hour for lunch. They also do a veggie pie. Butternut squash and spinach and something, with a hint of coconut. It ain't steak. Oh. And btw. There's a step up at the bakery door. But I'm sure the staff would be more than happy to help out.

My wife and I went in for a coffee and a pastry while waiting for our son to finish his saturday school. We had about 40'. There were some people but tables were available. We sat down after having asked to a waiter. The table was cleaned immediately but we had to wait about 20' before being able to place the order. When the order was placed it took again quite some time to receive the coffee and the pastry. When the coffee arrived I asked for some sugar. It was so late that I could not drink the coffee and I had my pastry while walking. Interesting, other people arrived after us, were served first. So, eventually after having waited for about 40' I did not manage to drink my coffee (but I paid for it)! Not impressed by the service (at all).

The one star is purely for Phil who was absolutely lovely and a pleasure to be served by. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for the rest of the experience at the cafe in Jesmond. £11.50 for a pasty and coffee after being advertised as just under £4 for the pasty. You are not told that when you sit in the prices vary and you are served a side dish of salad that increased the price drastically. That aside, I paid for it as I understand prices are sometimes higher when sat in. After being asked why we didn’t eat the salad I simply explained I did not order it nor did I really want it. The waiter then went to speak with the manager on his own accord who then shouted across the cafe ‘no they can pay for it’ (it was already paid for). The waiter Phil was being very attentive and I believe the manager can learn a lot from his great customer service skills. The manger then proceeded to lie to us after we stated we wanted to speak with her after what we heard her shout. She then passed the blame onto an employee and took no responsibility and said she sent her home, we later walked past and seen she was still there. After an offer of some pastries (which we declined) and saying she would refund us came back a few minutes later with a pastry and a £5 voucher, despite saying we would not feel comfortable going back. Will not be returning.

I'm not sure wether this has always been the case… or was the usual almond frangipani filling you’d usually expect in an almond croissant missed out by accident on one I purchased from your branch in Jesmond earlier today ? If it’s usually the case then basically it’s it’s just pastry with a few almonds scattered on top along with a dusting of icing sugar….which is not very up to standards in my opinion. Also the raspberry and custard danish… yes whilst it was ok (5/10) the raspberry sauce looked to be just a dollop of cheap raspberry jam from a jar ? Which in turn made it too sweet and sickly. A better approach would be a fresh raspberry coulis with a little icing sugar so not overly sweet, leaving it still a little tart to then contrast with the sweetness from the custard, thus making it more balanced and enjoyable. On a plus note 👍🏻 the pancetta sausage rolls are worthy of a Michelin star in their own right, and the railway gingerbread cake is top notch also. 😋👌🏻 Review update ! 😀 Hi, so upon your reply relating to yesterdays review…. I popped in to the Newcastle shop on pink lane to collect my almond croissant which you kindly offered as a good will gesture; I informed the staff working there of yesterday’s croissant missing it’s filling and they were totally understanding and with no qualms gave me a free replacement. I didn’t quite catch their names, but both the lady and gentleman working were lovely and a credit to your establishment. 🤜🏻🤛🏻 As for the croissant it was perfect this time around and very delicious indeed 😋 definitely worthy of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kindest regards, Andrew

This place just gets better and better. Have just had lunch here with a friend. We both agree this was the best lunch we've had in ages. All vegetarian. I had rainbow falafel salad with pomegranate and chilli dressing, she had a salad with halloumi. Both delicious. Mine was amazing. Gluten free bread was at least if not more delicious than the regular. Banana bread similarly lovely and very generous portion. Do note that the address is Windsor Terrace, and sometimes wrongly labelled Cafe 22, which was a previous incarnation and not a patch on this.

Food came out very slow and was also slow for the family before us. We were the only party in the resturant other than them. We asked to remove the service charge because of this and the host haggled with us for 2 minutes to keep it on saying no discounts. If service was good we would not have asked. You can't legally make people pay the service charge especially if the service was poor. It's not the money it's the principle. Additionally I ordered a meat noodle and it came meatless!

Unfortunately Hoults Yard Landlord uses a parking management company that requires paying through parking via an app having attended a function and spending over 15 minutes trying to get the app to download and register the app failed to take the payment as the payment is not actually taken until leaving we have since found out and we have been hit with £100 parking fine. I managed to sort the parking fine. Please be aware the app is very problematic to use and double check to make sure the transaction has completed. A nice venue just be aware of the parking app issues.
