Liosi's Italian bistro in Newcastle upon Tyne

Good Italian food made with good quality ingredients. Menu is a little small but better this than a large poor menu. Service was fast and the only real "complaint" was not being shown the specials menu. Quite a small venue so nice for couples but maybe not for larger groups.

We booked a table for last night and we got one so i was happy. The service was impecable the waitress was attentive the staff were lovely. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The only down side was being sat next to people at the back i felt like i didnt have much privacy as i was so close to the other diners so i could pretty much hear their conversations amd it was a bit too close. I would have preferred a seperate dining table. Next time i will request this. For the food i had seafood linguine and the meatballs for starter and the flavours were very bold and it was perfectly cooked. The meatballs were soft and not dry and chewy the sauce was delicious tomato. My pasta was incredible the sauce was so natural yet tasted deeply of seafood i loved it. Pasta was cooked al beautifully. The prawns were huge an perfectly cooked. I just didnt like taking the shell off it was a bit messy. They did give me little wipe to freshen up so it wasnt like i was left with dirty hands. Dessert i had the lemon torte and it was sublime im not a dessert person but this looked amazing tasted so good the pastry was cooked brilliantly and the lemon inside was soft creamy and not too sweet. I thouroughly enjoyed my evening and i will be back this month to enjoy with my friends. I will take some photos on my next one.

Went on spec with some mates. Food good but quite expensive and also the wine not cheap. Yes it's a decent restaurant but the salmon was a small portion for a big cost.

Stop over for a glass of coffee. I ordered a latte, and it was good. The service is excellent. The restaurant is clean even though not so large. They served authentic Italian cuisines.

It was nothing special but it was warm & friendly.

Very nice food and cosy place but please do something with your ventilation, the kitchen fumes in the dining area are overwhelming. After a quick 1 hour lunch my clothes stung so much that colleagues in the office asked if I work at a greasy spoon! I do expect some cooking smells in any restaurant but your restaurant is way bad in this respect, please do something about it! Otherwise some very tasty and well presented dishes, decent prices and good, quick service.

Pretty nice white wine My wife and our friends enjoyed there meal Me ? Absolutely fantastic Breast of Duck ( a little over cooked) that aside .Brilliant Oh ! Lovely place. A friend brought me here to chat and have breakfast. Pleasantly surprised! Quality coffee, quality food, quality service. Highly recommended

What a hidden gem. Went for supper last night before theatre, food was delicious, service and staff were excellent, I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

One of the best Italian restaurants in UK. The food over here is very delicious especially penne carbonara by add on 3 pounds for Italian style. A place is a bit fit, try to reserved before you going there. Lastly, the staff over there is very kindly and professional.

Excellent, authentic Italian food. Great coffee. The staff are attentive and friendly. I recommend the breakfasts. I use Al Dente regularly.

I’ve been here twice now once for lunch and once for an evening meal. Both times, the food was delicious, in particular the Ravioli Capesante was outstanding. I haven’t had starters here - just olives and bread which was pretty standard but served with a good olive oil. The lemon tart desert was decent, lovely base with tasty lemon topping and we were served complimentary limoncellos which was kind of the staff. The staff were super; helpful and friendly. Atmosphere wise - it is a bit more of a lunch time cafe/bistro vibe and more casual than a restaurant and small so we were a bit squashed up at our table for an evening meal. If you were looking for something fancy/formal then this might not be the best place, however it’s cosy, reasonably priced with tasty food and lovely staff - we had a great meal here.

Thank you Al Dente for a lovely evening to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Food was fab and table service friendly, quick and efficient (Pollo Arrabbiata was exceptional.) We would return. Even the grandparents said how much they enjoyed it and how clean the toilets were- you’ve definitely “past the test”!! Jxx

This Hidden Gem came highly recommended & did not disappoint. We travelled through from Morpeth on a Friday afternoon & enjoyed some amazing Italian cuisine accompanied buy some equally excelled red wine 🍷 . Can’t wait to return - Staff were amazing as well 👍

We visited for the first time tonight and fell in love with the place. A gorgeous, intimate restaurant with a great menu and a lovely team. We're definitely going to be back to try the incredible looking desserts.

Loved it. We were lucky to get sears.we sat at the window on high stools. Shared a meats and cheese starter and pizza so delicious. Looking forward to returning

What a nice place staff so friendly the were busy but we're able to get me and my other half in in realy short notice the focaccia was amazing I had the carbonara which was so lovely ive had a few but never had the meat cooked like that. my other half had the fettucine with salsiccia mushrooms cream and truffle which she said was amazing. If im ever back in newcastle I will be going back. Thank you

Gorgeous cafe and friendly staff. Fairly new place (as of Sept 2024) as it used to be Liosi's, so thought I'd give it a try. Popped in at the weekend for coffees and ended up having pizza as the menu was too enticing! Best pizza I've had in ages, the crust was that lovely soft, chewy, slightly charred crust that makes or breaks a pizza. Thankfully it's close to where I work, so looks like I'll be visiting some more...

Authentic Italian dishes and amazing Italian staff, both chefs and waiting teams at Al Dente Cucina Italiana are going to work wonders to make your day. Delicious regular menu and great specials any time I have been there! Been there plenty times, and vibes, food, and drinks always all on point 😋 Super recommended! 💯

Lovly little bistro. Right in the city centre and the staff are super friendly and kind. The food was fantastic take it from someone who is a peaky eater. The prices are fare. And the place it's self is rustic and homly.

Legit Italian food served by legit Italian speakers. Good coffee, Italian beer, what more do you want? They take reservations for evening meals, so you should absolutely book while you're having lunch there.

A recent addition to NE/Newcastle Italian restaurants and I was very impressed. Very friendly and efficient service, the food was great and it has a beautiful interior that doesn't shout for your attention when you're eating(unlike many other modern restaurants), thus creating a very nice atmosphere. There is outdoor seating too. A restaurant well worthy of a visit and support. I highly recommend.

I went in for lunch with a few mates and ended up ordering the Pollo Al Funghi and Tiramisu from their ocean of options. My main course was lovely but it was the dessert that was absolutely godly. Great table service as well. I’d recommend this place to anyone who likes and appreciates good Italian food 🇮🇹🤌

Best Italians I've had in the UK by a mile and struggling to think of one better anywhere (I'm a little fat lad and love my Italian food 😉). Brilliant service, sensational food made by people who you can tell really care about what they are doing. My wife said don't tell people how good it is or we won't get in. The people who run and work in this little gem deserve it to be packed to the raftas morning to night.

Intimate, welcoming, fabulous food

Live just behind, couldn’t be any handier! Small, independent, city centre Italian. Brilliant little spot right by Newcastle City Hall and Northumberland St. Food is always top tier, great value and the staff couldn’t be any friendlier/accommodating. Both sit-in and takeaway.

Went here on a whim last night with no booking. Staff couldn't have been better in getting us somewhere to eat. Food was excellent and service was top notch. Will definitely be going back.

Cozy friendly Italian with fantastic food. Discovered Liosi by accident . So we thought we would try . It was a Saturday eve ... The were very accommodating and found us a table ... . I chose a seafood risotto .. it was so delicious . We sat outside for coffee, before we headed off to the City Hall for a show . I tried it again ,for lunch 4 days later ,as I was so impressed . Again the food (lasagne )was delicious .. all fresh and home cooked . The staff are very pleasant . I notice they are open for breakfast .... so I will try this option next . Can't recommend enough . (Very handy for the City Hall )

Really cute and quaint bistro I just happened to stumble upon! Decided to take advantage of the sunshine and have a coffee outdoors (to just watch the world whizz by me). I had to treat my husband to a cannoli- was recommended the pistachio one! Service wad fantastic and was nice to see both outdoors and indoors with customers ❤️ Will definitely come back again-may even treat myself to food here on my next visit.

Just popped in for a quick coffee to-go this afternoon and it was one of the nicest caramel lattes I have ever had. Also helped by two lovely waitresses/front of house ladies. Would definitely pop in for a bite to eat as the food and atmosphere both looked lovely.

Beautiful food as always stupendously scrumptious perfectly aligned to the amazing historic Georgian period architecture outside the premises! The staff are benevolent as always and always looking to go the extra mile! Silly not to go there if you are in the city to be honest. 10/10

We cannot comment on the food as, after having booked on line for my wife's birthday and received confirmation, we turned up and were told we did not have a booking even after showing the confirmation and were treated in a very off hand and rude way by the 2 waitress with an interigation on why we thought we had a booking . After leaving we managed to have a very nice meal in the hotel. I would advise you to check and recheck your booikng with them before you arrive!
