We enjoyed a lovely walk and finished at the café. The blueberry and white chocolate cake was amazing, and the staff were very friendly.

This is ok after a walk around the Haughmond Hill, a good cuppa at a reasonable price, staff friendly.

Butties tocino genial.

Precios razonables. No se puede pedir más 😁

Me and my family always use this cafe when we go up haughmond for a walk. You can order food and drinks from the hatch and take it on your walk and eat it as a picnic. But we personally like to sit inside after our walk and eat in next to the warmer. The kids snack boxes are great, nice fresh sarnie crisps drink etc... And the salads, breakfast stuff is always really good. And a reasonable price too! Defo worth a visit if your up there.

This place situated at the edge of the Haughmond Hill Forestry Commission site to the east of Shrewsbury began life as a "sandwich van" a few years ago. The two ladies who run it built up a loyal and enthusiastic clientele but seemed in danger of losing it to a larger concern when the FC decided to build a permanent facility and put the business out to tender. The fact that the ladies had created the place from nothing counted for little, but their regulars and many others signed petitions and wrote letters and they won the bid. Now there is an excellent little cafe open most of the week (closed Mondays and Tuesdays excepting some Bank Holidays) from 08:00 until mid afternoon, where you can get yourself a snack and a drink before or after a walk in the woods or just sit and enjoy the location. There is ample outdoor seating amongst the pine trees and a couple of inside tables with a wood-burning stove for those chilly winter days. The food is simple, bacon and sausage sandwiches, burgers etc. but usually with some soups and specials available. It's always freshly cooked so you might have a bit of a wait but the ladies will keep you entertained if they're not too busy (they're often busy, though). Homemade cakes are a big feature and we seldom visit without sampling a couple. Carrot cake, coffee and walnut, brownies and lots more will make the choce difficult. There are other things to buy as well, homemade pickles and jams, free range hen and duck eggs, dog treats (Haughmond Hill is a favourite spot for dog-walkers) plus sweets and drinks if you're planning a long walk and even some maps to help you on your way. But whenever you go and whatever you buy, you can be sure of a friendly reception and the best breakfast in town (or rather, slightly out of it).

We are always wary of believing Internet reviews but in this case the high stars are completely deserved. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the pub has a charming quiet, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We both tried the steak & guiness pie from the Chippy Tea Friday menu which at only £10 each was extraordinary good value being not only very tasty indeed but also a portion size that we haven't experienced for a good many years. The steak was extremely tender and so tasty, and the home made chips were certainly a cut above the frozen oven style so commonplace elsewhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will certainly be visiting again and have no hesitation recommending the pub to others who enjoy good value tasty English pub style food served with a smile.

What an excellent restaurant! Came for an evening meal with friends and we were blown away by the quality of the food. The service and atmosphere was also excellent and we found the portions to be just right and the pricing fair. I would highly recommend Number Four and if we’re back in the area we’d definitely come back to try more on the menu.
