Pine Marten in Harrogate

Really nice stay. Staff busy but friendly. Food good.

It's been a while since I last visited the Pine Marten, and was pleasantly surprised to see it has had makeover in all aspects. Breakfast and lunch were good and the place had a good vibe to it. Would recommend anyone to have a visit. Even a stop over!

Berthdi lunch for a friend. Wandered up the lane, shared some delightful cocktails and ordered some garlic pizza and beef croquettes - yum. The Gals had sea bass, I plumped for the pork and scallops. I had to take a video of me eating the crackling to demonstrate how crackly it was….. We paused and shared a trio of desert and coffee. A totally relaxed luncheon in great surroundings with such pleasant staff and a lovely, measured pace of service.

So disappointed- the room rate was expensive but we were happy to pay to get a “higher end” hotel but the room was terrible, in a state of disrepair and slanted ceilings in both sides making it impossible to stand up - very poor - wish I could post photos on here

We have been promising ourselves to visit Pine Marten for some time. At last, we made it, and we were not disappointed. The building is lovely and well maintained, well furnished, and well laid out both indoors and outdoors. The staff are very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable (our servers - Milly and Billy) first class. Thank you. The menu was pretty much standard for the group. However, the food was well presented, well cooked, and flavoursome. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back. Thank you again, Team Pine Marten.

Stayed a couple of nights and ate on night 1. Accommodation comfortable, but probably not worth the price. Room has a couple of bits of paint missing (bathroom and wall near the door - we were in room 2). Food was lovely, but disappointingly one of their 'select' items on the menu which I ordered (lamb) was not available.

Had a delightful evening meal last night. The lamb, pork and seafood linguine was fabulous, freshly prepared to a high standard and absolutely delicious as was the creme brulee with home made biscuits, ice cream and mini rhubarb and custard with hot chocolate accompanied with a mini cocanut macaroon. Well done chef, this type of attention is rare. Waiting staff were very attentive thanks Jack. Loved the interior design too, very nice and relaxing. All in all a great place to spend time with friends and family 💗

Lovely quiet meal. Nice food selection, attentive friendly staff. Nice selection of cask and keg ales. Dog tolerant - our hound was quite happy settled under the table whilst we ate - although they seemed to be lacking dog biscuits. Bit of a gimmick? I actually notice my dog wanting to go back to a venue if she gets a dog biscuits during her visit. Also had to ask for a bowl of water - no biggie, but the places that ask if me if my dog wants a drink as well make me smile more. Quiet when we were there. Perhaps slightly over priced for bar food (dog area) - but yep, deffo elevated from ‘pub grub’

Nice setting with good food and great ambience. Friendly and accommodating staff who were efficient and respectful. Generous portions too!

It was my Aunties 70th birthday and we decided to stop in for Sunday lunch. As soon as we set foot in the door the staff was very welcoming and found us a table for 5 straight away (to say we hadn’t booked 😬) the roast was amazing best we’ve had in a while!! Highly recommend!! The decor is very chic, great atmosphere 5🌟

I would have given it 4stars if you could open the garden doors to get back inside, I had to bang on the door for a few minutes before someone opened it. You might want to make sure you prop the door open if you go into the garden

The Lad was visiting to swap cars - his treat, so we went to the Pine Marten ! Another fabulous evening, he worked there years ago and it was good that the Manager was still there. Service was paced nicely, menus and specials described, drinks ordered. Decided to share a baked Camembert with extra bread - superb. I chose the Harissa Lamb which was cooked - chef recommend and was beautifully pink. Tom had the beef and salad with spiced chips on the side and our Doris had the pea and asparagus risotto. Coffee had little coconut fancies as accompaniment which is always nice. Best bit was - the Lad paid !

Great place for a beer in the courtyard followed by a lovely dinner with steaks cooked to perfection. The pub itself is immaculate throughout and well worth a visit.

This place will blow your mind! The exterior and interior are absolutely amazing and that is completed by really good service and delicious food! Connor, the head chef and his team , up this place definitely!

Thankyou to all the management and staff for a lovely afternoon on sunday 06/04/25 After a warm welcome on entry we chose to sit in the beautiful sun drenched garden with 1 or 4 aperols and madris made and served by the charming ,attentive staff, Patrick, Maxwell to name 2 but all are just so alert and charming. We decided to have the 3 for 15 pounds nibble menu with an extra chicken thrown in and must say that it was absolutely gorgeous food. Highly recommend the beef croquettes, chicken skewers and Haloumi fries - Wow! all of it especially the Haloumi. Big shout to the chefs for this, i was told are Rudy and Agron - Thankyou.

Great atmosphere, great food. 5 of us went for Sunday roast and went home stuffed.

Much, much better than when I was last here. A step up from the usual pub grub. Great decor, modern but sympathetic to the building as well. Loved it!

I am a regular as I live just around the corner and, as a wheelchair user, I appreciate the accessibility (apart from the garden, which is a shame). The restaurant has one of the best disabled toilets I have ever used. The service is always great, with staff going out of their way to help; both in the restaurant and the hotel when I have visitors come to stay. The food is mostly excellent, but my one complaint is the Gluten-Free offering on a Sunday, which is very limited. The Glass Onion app is comprehensive and easy to use, ruling out any possible contamination. However, this often results in the only option being a side dish, or even just a sauce! I have a gluten intolerance, so the waiter spoke to the chef and I was still able to have a nice roast dinner (with some bits missing). But if you have Coeliac or need to be absolutely strict, there are very few options. It is such a shame and quite rare in this modern era, when only small tweaks are necessary to offer a wide range of GF food. I hope the Pine Marten can evolve in this area, as their standards are otherwise very high.

We meet as a family here every year in Spring. The service is excellent as is the food and surroundings. We are a large family with young children and are always welcomed warmly. Menus are varied with plenty on offer to keep the children happy. Its a bonus having an outdoor area for the kids to be able to get fresh air and visit the fish in the big pond..

We had great meals, i had sea food dishes, calamari for stater was so light and tasty, my main was a crab and king prawn chilli pasta with additional scallops which was made with just the right amount of spice and my husband had the scallops for starter and a buttermilk chicken burger for main and said it was the best in decades. You will be seeing us again soon!

Very nice food and friendly staff who were very accommodating of our baby and pram. Lovely decor. Slightly pricy in my opinion but still highly recommended!

Had a lovely meal. Salt and pepper squid and a dirty burger. Oh my God. Such amazing meal! I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. Joe S served us drinks and was very attentive. Vio was our Waiter. And was absolutely lovely. Phil is one of the kitchen staff. And he recommended coming for a meal with him. And I'm so happy he did!

The ambience of the hotel decoration and the full menu meal, where excellent. All the staff worked very hard and efficiently.

Friendly and helpful staff, service time good, enjoyable cuisine.

This is a local and we visit regularly. The last couple of visits have been disappointing as the meal I ordered was burnt and I left most of it, and two weeks before the vegan dessert was an inedible pear! Having provided feedback to managers and in a survey we were just given excuses, so sadly it doesn’t appear they will listen to feedback and improve.

Came to celebrate a birthday on Monday. Have to say, not often do you get a waiter that is as attentive as the one we had (he even joined in with singing happy birthday!). The food was excellent as well. We will definitely return soon! Wish all the best to our waiter, we hope to see him again.

First time there and was very impressed with the service and great food. My boys have been and recommended this place. Will definitely go again.

Popped in for a Sunday roast as had heard how good they were and I was not disappointed, greeted at the door by Reece who was extremely welcoming from the off set and he sat me in the restaurant who I was then looked after and served by Imogen. Amazing service as always. Will be back very soon😁

Had the most amazing experience at Pine Marten. Popped in for a drink and ended up ordering some food - I went for some of the small plates and oh my lord - AMAZING!! Really impressed with the food. I have to mention Joe, who served us this evening! Nothing was too much trouble for him and he made our experience even more enjoyable. Pine Marten are lucky to have him as part of their team.

We received 3 emails and 3 texts ahead of our booking; a confirmation is reassuring but 6 messages can become irritating. Access and parking were fine; perhaps the lighting in the car park could be improved a bit? It wasn't altogether clear where we should go on arrival but we found the bar soon enough. There were no staff present for a few minutes and we were about to ask guests what was happening when someone arrived and showed us to a table. The Pine Marten is in a fine building, perhaps not fully appreciated on a cold, wet winter night; the decor is pleasant although there was a searingly bright light in one corner; the spacing between tables was generous but, maybe combined with it being quiet, left us feeling that the atmosphere was a bit flat. We were given menus and a tablet to find the gluten-free options; perhaps it is understandable, with so many dietary requirements, that you are asked to browse a website to check the menu (and being handed a tablet is perhaps better than beingleft to browse on your own phone) but what about the hygiene element of passing a tablet around and how about the traditional approach of simply asking waiting staff? The All Day Menu starters were narrowed down to one by selecting the gluten-free filter; perhaps there are some dishes that could be varied to omit the gluten-containing ingredient. Service was polite and efficient but not particularly warm. The food was largely good, nothing that we couldn't confidently produce at home and we felt that one dish left a fair bit of room for improvement. Overall, a bit disappointing. There are plenty of local alternatives that we prefer.

Had a lovely dinner for Mother in-laws birthday with hospitality as always unmatched anywhere in and around Harrogate. All courses were stunning especially the king prawns and the rib eye steaks which importantly received 5 stars from the birthday girl. All the management and staff as always attentive, so pleasant and a credit to the business but last night an extra special mention for the extremely courteous and pleasant Maxwell for looking after us above and beyond. Arrived with my family and was really disappointed by the level of service immediately, taking a long time to be acknowledged at the door and eventually sat at a table. It took far too long to order drinks. When the food arrived, the food was very poor quality, cold, and even smelt past its best.

Lovely evening away for my 70 birthday Great service from checking in. Staff where all very helpful nothing too much trouble Food was first class, Room was very comfortable we had a huge breakfast next morning which was hot and tasty, Will return. Well worth a visit

Fantastic place very pretty in side and out clientele seems to be respectable people waiting staff very polite and helpful. Prices are decent however no price on draught beer no idea why as there's prices on everything else. Honestly can't fault the place . If your doing something nice for your partner or friend this is the perfect place .

The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very accommodation and friendly , however we were very disappointed with the food. For the price, We would have expected the food to be of a higher standard. The meat (said it was pulled pork) in the ‘dirty burger’ was a slab of meat that tasted old and dry, the macaroni cheese we ordered was one of the work Mac and cheeses I have tasted, it looked like it had been slipped out of a tin into a dish and had an awful powdery taste to it. We did communicate this to the waitress, she apologised but no compensation was given. Like I said, lovely pub and we will return for drinks but would not eat here again or recommend the food.

We have been visiting the Pine Marten for well over 16 years as our regular go-to restaurant for a guaranteed high quality meal. This year, for the first time, we booked for Christmas lunch, and it did not disappoint. Having eaten out on Christmas Day before, we were a little dubious, but we were overwhelmed by the genuine welcome on arrival, the high quality dishes and the outstanding hospitality we experienced during our whole visit. We asked for an off the menu change in dessert to accommodate our picky eater which was met with ease and was truly appreciated. Thank you to all the staff who gave up their Christmas Day to host a wonderful service. Of course, we will be back!!

Actual abysmal service. Waited for over an hour to be served after asking twice and being fobbed off by staff members. Burgers were dry and comparable to a rustlers burger. A standard beef burger that cost 16 pounds come with chips but the vegan burger for the same price doesn't? Make it make sense. Overall really let down and I would NOT reccomend.

Really high standard of food in a lovely environment.

What a lovely place! Original leaded windows, indoors the original wood panels gave the place a small stately home feel. The food was well cooked and reasonably priced. We had the Xmas menu, Not 5 star food, but good all the same with a great atmosphere.

Ok so it was busy with a couple of Christmas group parties, BUT…. You make a booking, which is accepted, and you expect the usual excellent service. Sadly we were forgotten about all night. Had to ask for menus, ask to order, ask for our drinks order, ask to order dessert. Then after spending over £200 for 4 of us we were told to pay and leave as the bar had closed. And the food? Well poor tbh. All in all not a great experience. Don’t take bookings if you can’t give everyone the service and quality of food they are paying for.

Had an absolutely delightful lunch on Wednesday, and Monica was the star of the show! From the moment we walked in, her warm welcome set the tone for an amazing experience. Monica's impeccable service and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. Her recommendations were spot on, especially the sea bass, which was an absolute treat. Monica's attention to detail, ensuring our drinks were always topped up and checking in on us just the right amount, truly elevated our meal. Her genuine smile and cheerful personality made the afternoon even more enjoyable. Kudos to Monica for making our lunch unforgettable!

Do not sit in the bar area & expect to be serviced! Had to leave because nobody was interested in taking our order … couldn’t even get a drink. Ignoring the table… even got up to find a waitress to take our order who didn’t come over after 10 mins.

We came for a roast dinner and you didn’t disappoint at all. The stuffing wrapped in bacon made our day and we had to order more as we couldn’t get enough of the stuff. The Chef who made these deserved real praise

Living in Scotland you hear rumours about Yorkshire's famous roasts. It was mediocre at best. We didn't get our table so got put into the "kids room" lovely for date night. The roast was underwhelming, the meat was good quality but poor seasoned, gravy was very good must admit, roast potatoes felt like they had sat for an hour before being served, nice parsnip, flavourless carrot and quite possibly the worst Yorkshire pudding I've experienced. It tasted like an undercooked American pancake.

The decor was beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful , the food was brilliant and it was really child friendly which we really appreciated. Providing cutlery for children is something we’ve never experienced before, we also really appreciated that the children’s food came at the perfect temperature so we didn’t have to wait around for it to cool. We genuinely will be recommending this place to others and returning ourselves!

An attractive place to visit,excellent food and service

First of all, we arrived and were taken to right hand side dining room which was very cold, a log fire was lit but made no difference Walking through to the toilet the rest of the hotel was warm -these radiators were on in these rooms, it was either a cost cutting exercise or a faulty central heating system On to the food - I chose the roast beef and when it arrived it looked very underwhelming two slices of very pink beef which was not easy to cut and it had quite a bit of fat in it. The Yorkshire pudding was ok, but there was only one carrot, 4 small roast potatoes and one parsnip -it was crying out for some mash to add to what was a poor showing and it was only just warm - the greens didn’t come for a few minutes after and were a bit underdone. I have had worse Sunday Lunches but for £20 it was really poor and if l hadn’t have been with family on a birthday celebration l would have complained personally to the manager

Some menu items were good (freshly cooked steak ). Others. (Burgers. ). Almost cold and the fries too. Average burger. Other pubs in the area have stepped up on the burgers but this tasted like a big standard frozen one that had been warmed up - but then left to get almost cold!! Not really acceptable for £20 - after all it’s not fancy food. The staff were great and responded well to the complaint and the dining areas were very nice and cosy. However it’s not a recipe for a good meal out when half the diners have to send meals back. I hope they can just get the basics right. We don’t expect fancy food for pub dining . Just hot and fresh.

Lovely building, staff and food!

Just had a 2 night stay with breakfast and evening meal. What a fantastic treat! The building is packed with character blending modern and traditional styles. All the choices on the bar you could ask for. The food was great and the staff were fantastic very polite and Freindly. A nice mix of clientele too, or at least when we were there! Will have to come back for a Sunday lunch one day. A big thanks to all the team it's a big thumbs up from us 👍👍

We had a super visit to the Pine Marten - made even better by the warm welcome we got from Hugo the barman. He served us quickly and professionally and encouraged us to try a couple of his excellent cocktails-superb! Well worth visiting for great service and a super atmosphere! Highly recommended.

Hugo was our barman for our stay, polite, curious and with a wealth of knowledge to keep us entertained as we relaxed in the very comfortable surroundings.

Popped in after a long day at the office with the gang! Joe served us all evening and made sure we stayed well hydrated throughout the evening! Top bloke- will be making a return for this amazing service.

The booking (over the phone) was easy, and staff very accommodating, however I did not get initial confirmation of appointment emailed or text to me as promised and I had to chase up twice. The meals ordered were on the whole ok, but mine (sea bass) was not cooked fully, and cold ( I was not charged for this meal). Another person in the party had rissott. This was tasteless (but was eaten). The 2 course meal took 2.5hrs. Front of house and serving staff were great… very friendly and welcoming.

I visited the Pine Marten on Sunday with my partner and we had the loveliest time. The food was great and the service was impeccable - shout out to your team member Dani. We’ll be back when next in Harrogate!

Everytime we visit here, for just a drink or food we have a great time. The staff are fabulous and we love the decor. Shout out to the barman, I think his name is Hugo. Update: barman Hugo is amazing very talented at making all the drinks !

It had been a while since I had gone into Pine Marten. So I found myself in the area and decided to pop in for a drink. The staff were very welcoming towards me and acted as if I had never left. Maxwell on the bar was very chatty and pleasant. I will certainly be returning soon ;)
