Called in here for coffee and cake before visiting Brecon cathedral. The staff were lovely - huge smiles and very helpful. Cakes were delicious - lime and courgette was good. Made for a very pleasant stop. Cathedral interesting - so glad we came here.

After a pleasant walk, we were looking forward to a nice lunch. The waitress was surly and unhelpful. The quiche was accompanied with a very small salad and two very small potatoes cut in half. When we asked for more salad and potatoes we were charged an extra three pounds fifty for the potatoes and three pounds ninety five for the green salad; in total eighteen pounds fifty five pence. Will definitely not return.

My daughter took me here for coffee. After standing at counter to place order I was abruptly told it was table service despite the lady in front of me placing an order. Went outside and eventually had to ask for service. Only gluten free food available was cake. My daughter ordered welsh rare bit. Drinks came but after 20 mins I again had to ask the waitress where the welsh rare bit was. Service was poor but the young waitress was pleasant. Suggestions to cafe... Place a sign in an obvious place which states table service... If tables are reserved place notice to this effect... Gluten free options are not just cake. Hopefully new management will find their feet soon. This could be a wonderful cafe as it's in a lovely setting just needs a bit better management in busy times.

Lovely quiet spot for lunch that we found through TA. Out of the way from the centre of town but not far to walk at all. Lovely setting by the cathedral and we sat outside under a huge tree. Really lovely lace to eat our lunch. We had a Welsh rarebit which came with a great garnish and coleslaw type salad which was tasty and a higher standard than the usual blob of gloop and slice of cucumber you get in some other places!

Another excellent meal at this lovely cafe in an idyllic setting. Sad to see the notice that the cafe is closing on September 28th . This will be a big loss to many people not least the employees.. I must say the prices charged by the cafe are on the low side, making it very good value for the punters but less so for the owners. I wonder if a re assessment might point towards making the business more sustainable. If not thank you for memorable times over many years

After a sad and memorable service of remembrance for my father in law at the Cathedral, we all congregated for a cream tea, sandwiches and cakes at the small barn adjoining Pilgrim’s Tea Rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for Andy and his team; rustling up a gluten free option when needed and being on hand to serve to the 20 or so visitors. The food was excellent and plentiful; a range of sandwiches and homemade cakes and scones. The setting of Pilgrim’s Tea Rooms, nestled within the grounds of Brecon Cathedral, added to the poignancy of the day. Thank you.

Went for a Christmas lunch with work friends midweek. We opted to have a light lunch rather than the Xmas menu as we had to go back to work. My friends were all really pleased with their meals ranging from cheese on toast to paninis. I had the leek and potato soup with a crusty roll. It was very disappointing. Firstly because they were out of rolls (it was only 12.30) so I had bread instead, secondly the soup was very bland. There was not much potato and it had a slightly greasy taste. The service was ok. I didn’t think the waitress was particularly friendly.

This is a very nice tearoom within the grounds of Brecon Cathedral. We called in for lunch, the menu is brief but had a good range of dishes. We both had the Caerphilly Cheese Quiche salad which was very good. To call it a salad is a bit of an understatement, it was a generous slice of quiche with new potatoes, coleslaw and a mixed red cabbage salad mixture plus salad leaves etc. The quiche was (I think) made with whipped egg whites added to the egg mixture. The result is a very light mousse-like texture to the quiche, very, very nice. The coffee is also excellent. Staff very pleasant and accommodating, Parking for the Tearooms and cathedral is just a few metres away.

Unfortunately the person who made my coffee didn't appear to have been trained correctly on what 'A Flat White' actually is. My drink was a weak milky coffee with a bit of cappuccino type foam on top. Part filled bottles of beer on some tables outside did what beer traps are supposed to do and attracted the wasps! They need to be placed so as to lure the wasps away from the seating area not towards it.

My brother and sister in law, nephews and I visited this cafe around 1pm on a Sunday. It's a cute little cafe with a lot of options of food and drinks. The majority of the produce is locally sourced so you know you're getting fresh quality food. The prices are slightly high so with my tight budget I wouldn't eat here often. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Unfortunately, the customers made us feel rather unwelcome. We are three adults aged 24 and two children aged 6 and 4. As soon as we walked in we were getting glares from the customers (all elderly) that had probably just finished the Sunday service at the cathedral. I accidentally tapped an old ladies arm as I was moving my chair which I apologised for and she replied with a loud tut. We held the door open for two old ladies as we were leaving, they looked at us all, carried on walking through and not even a thank you. I'm not sure if it is the area or just those few people but manners cost nothing! I would like to go back here for lunch when I can afford it but the feeling of being unwelcome may just steer me somewhere else. It felt like we were looked down on because we are young and were with two children so I would only recommend this cafe to older people.

After reading the glowing reviews of this cafe at the cathedral, we timed our visit to the church so we could include lunch. Let me just say, then, that I fully expected the meal to be good, just didn't expect it to be not THIS wonderful! Ingredients are sourced locally, and the meals are very well-prepared and beautifully presented. Somewhere back there in the kitchen is an undiscovered Michelin chef waiting to emerge! My husband ordered a toastie with soup of the day, which was a delicious red pepper. I chose Welsh rarebit, which came with a side salad and chips. Fantastic meal! Wish we had saved room for dessert. Choose a table, indoors or out, and note the number, then go to the till to order. Take your drinks back to the table, and the meals will be served at table. Clean restrooms, and a pleasant gift shop across the breezeway.

We've been at this calm and relaxing place in the catherdal yard many times and have never been disappointed. They offer nice food lunch as well as cream tea and nice coffee.

We have been visiting The Drover's for around 25 years. As a full Family initially, now just the two of us. Peter and his Team never disappoint. The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. A good mixture of Walkers, Holiday makers and Locals. Thanks so much for everything over the years Peter. We're already in the process of booking next year's trip to Wales, so keep an eye out for an email soon!

Our first time here this morning. From the minute we walked in we was welcomed and seated. All staff were welcoming. Myself and fiancé ordered a full English, food was lovely not one fault and clear plates. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and perfect. We were approached and asked if everything was okay during our meal. We paid with cash and left a tip as we were very pleased. We will definitely be attending again on our next stay.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

Great place and food. Came here after other places were booked up. I'm glad they were because we had a lovely meal.

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.
