Popped to Pie Not? for lunch today, delicious and large courgette burger and chips which I munched through with delight. My friend had been a few times before, but this was my first visit. Tasty food, nice and bright inside and good vibe. Definitely coming back 🙂.

We've just had lunch in Pie Not? Bistro, and I couldn't fault it! The food was really delicious (steak & ale pie, mash, mac-n-cheese / fishcakes, poached egg, salad) and the service excellent. Everything had a great home-made taste and the service was good. We followed up with a coffee and (huge!) cake each, and waddled home full to the gills! I'd recommend this place in an instant, and will be back before long.

Who ate all the pies? We did.. Knowing Pie Not and the owner Stephen for ages, I hadn’t taken the time to visit until late 2019 - brought my niece and her fussy teenager for a late lunch, sat in the perfect window seat and were served courteously, and speedily - the food was fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented and tasted delish. My family have returned several times and when CV19 is over, Ivan and I will be back, well done and thanks Stephen

This is possibly one of the best bistros/cafes in Morningside! The staff are absolutely the friendliest I have ever met, (trust me, I’ve met a few.) and the ambience was so relaxing, and chilled. Food was amazing quality, and the pie I had was golden, and perfectly cooked. Free water was available and everything was very reasonably priced, with fast service. It was slightly past all the buzz of the high street, which was lovely, as it meant a little peace to eat. Overall, a fantastic experience, would 10/10 recommend for everyone!

We love weekend dining here, as the dishes are fresh, delicious and good value. BYOB is an added attraction.. Tonight our lovely starters were chicken liver pâté, smoked salmon pâté, beetroot and avocado salad and soup of the day. My main of homemade pumpkin-stuffed gnocchi with salad and Parmesan was just fantastic.. My friends all were delighted with their various choices. Thank you, Pie Not? Bistro.. We look forward to the next time!

We needed a bite to eat while waiting for our puppy to be groomed and found this little place. The pies tasted amazing and the ingredients were obviously of a very high quality. Very reasonable pricing too. Great customer service and only a short wait for the food to arrive at our table. Will be back again.

Avocado with poached eggs on toast and a tasty cappuccino, great way to start a day. Nice, smallish cafe on the outskirts of Edinburgh in an area called Morningside, easy to get to by bus, car, or feet! I've been in a few times for breakfast and it was delicious each time; friendly staff, comfy seating with booths at the window to watch the world go by and not being in the city centre means it's affordably priced as well. I'll be heading back in for lunch soon!

My husband and I had dinner in this charming bistro on Saturday night prior to seeing a show. We were not disappointed. I had the fish pie with seasonal veg and my husband had the chickpea and cauliflower pie with sweet potato fries. Absolutely delicious. Pastry melted in your mouth and the fish was succulent and fresh, not overpowered with creamy sauce. My husband raved about his pie as well and the sides were generous and tasty. Lovely, friendly staff and relaxed ambience. We will definitely be back! Very reasonably priced too!

Intrigued by the name, my friend and I decided to try the Pie Not? bistro for a Saturday lunchtime catch up and we are glad we did. The table by the window provided the perfect opportunity for a good natter and the excellent service and food made it a lovely afternoon. The haddock fish cakes were delicious and the sweet potato fries were thick and actually made from sweet potato, unlike the skinny frozen versions usually served in other 'restaurants'. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her unctuous pumpkin gnocchi and all in all we were impressed. The lovely waitresses added to the experience. I had experienced a couple of dreadful meals in supposed high-end restaurants, but Pie Not? has restored my faith in eating out. I would heartily recommend.

Pulled pork and haggis Bon Bon’s to start, steak and ale pie as a main with skin on fries and a cheeky side of mac and cheese finished off with a sticky toffee and date pudding. Lovely setting great service. Would highly recommend. They do several different types of mains and starters so if you don’t fancy a pie there is plenty of choice. It’s BYOB also, there were 4 of us we had starters and mains and 2 desserts and the bill after we left a tip was £20 each. Good veggie choices also. Will definitely be back.

We stay a short distance away from this attractive establishment so it made sense to seek it out. They are hoping to extend this eating house with longer hours as so far they only open in the evenings at the end of the week. It was quite full with business people when we came in. It is a pie shop only during the day but with side dishes it is very good value for money. We will be back for an evening meal quite soon. The service was good matched by the quality of the food.

First visit and pleasant waitress serving. Simple wooden benches to sit at and home made pies of various prize winning varieties served up with options like herby mash or fat chips. We had coffees (good) and cake to follow our pie. Not luxury surroundings but worth a visit for the novelty and you can take away a pie. They have special evenings too that sound fun on some Frdays and Saturdays

We were looking forward to trying here after previously buying their pies at Leith market (prior to the bistro appearing). The waitress was friendly without being overbearing & suited the relaxed ambiance perfectly. The menu is straightforward & good value for money. Both of our pies, sides & gravy were delicious. The interior is rustic & well judged. We look forward to our next visit - they do a roast Sunday lunch option which we’re tempted to try.

Perfect friendly place to have Sunday Lunch after a lovely walk through the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill. Such a tasty pie encased in crumbly pastry served with hot fries. The coffee is also very good. Excellent value. A great new addition to Morningside.

Cool interior and plenty of natural light but that wouldn't mean much if the coffee and cakes weren't any good - and they are, very very good ! My wife had the Cappuccino and Caramel Cake and I had a terrific Apricot and Almond Chocolate Slice.( The cake was served on a raised edge plate which allowed pouring cream to be generously added without making a mess ) Wife asked for a strong Americano and that's what came ( too often in Cafes its just press a button and take it as it comes ) and I had a spot on double Espresso.

Last year, mum and I found Max Bakes. Mum had haggis and black pudding and I had feta and spinach. I had never had haggis or black pudding (always put off by the ingredients 🤦♀️) I tried mums and vice versa...both were delicious! This year we planned to hunt Max Bakes down, worrying he may not be here this year, and much to our delight we found him in the exact same spot! (later we found out he is a permanent fixture not just for The Fringe) We order two haggis and black pudding rolls and they were as good as we remembered! Two very happy travellers 😁

Super little cafe, welcoming and well run. Dog friendly. Menu is limited however, if they're not too busy, other options are available on request such as full English breakfast. No obvious vegan options, other than toast. Oat milk available and gluten free bread. Freshly cooked food and really nice coffee. Full of locals, which is always a good sign!

Unpretentious, friendly, homemade, affordable. Not easy to find cafe's like this so close to the city centre.
