Great little tea room, we cycled along the Nickey Line with the kids- way cycling and traffic free. Then popped into this tea room for tea, coffee and some cake- perfect.

I always visit Pie in the Sky when I am in Hemel. Lunch is home made, delicious and healthy, and the staff are lovely. The cafe is a beautiful little Georgian gem, in Hemel Old Town, and is comfortable and relaxing. I love the quirkiness of the cafe and hairdresser’s sharing the building. (Sweeney Todd, but much much nicer!) All of this, and really good prices. I had 2 lattes and quiche and salad today, for less than £8.

So we came across here on the off chance and it was a nice day so thought let's pop in (it was a Sunday) so the tea room is very cute with out door seating both at the front and at the back in the garden (you cut through a hair dressers to get to it, the shot is split into two tea room at front hair dresser at back) we placed our order and it went down hill from there! We only had 1 hour on the parking and it took close to 35min for one Sandwich, a jacket potato and some hummus, the food is good quality and the staff lovely but it needs to direction and prober guidance... If they can manage there times better then this would be a gem

After moving to Hemel recently, I was excited to see this lovely tea room which looked quaint and cosy from the outside. I finally took my mum today and was not too impressed with the service. The menu had a good selection which I can not fault, the restaurant was very quiet. We asked about the afternoon tea which the waitress said would take about 20 minutes which was fine. In the end we ordered a sandwich each which I did not realise she meant all food would be 20 minutes, which was surprising as there was only myself and my mum and one other couple waiting for food (The other couple asked where their food was and was told they were a staff member down, they were also surprised as they had only ordered simple sandwiches) However Im happy to wait if needed. Food finally came. I cant fault it as it was very tasty (I ordered a bacon and bree panini) So hence why the extra star. Only to bite in and a huge hair from someones head was in it. Noone was out in the tea room so had to find someone in the kitchen and showed the two girls only for them to say sorry and then blankly look at us with no offer of a refund or replacement? We then asked for a refund as appetite had gone plus after waiting we had to get to the car. Money was given back for just the panini. I feel there is no excuse in this day and age for large hairs to be in food. Maybe on other days this place may be better with different staff on.

Pie in the Sky is not just a specialty tea stop like The Tea Room down the street, it is a dessert mecca. All desserts looked heavenly, but the gluten free options really deliver. The GF brownie sounds boring and is anything but; it is super rich and super tasty. The cappuccino is superb and they offer almond milk as well as decaf, unlike most places nearby. The owner was so hospitable, when I left as she was in the back room, she popped her head out to say goodbye to me. How lovely...many could learn from her graciousness and hospitality.

Exceptionally tasty, genuine food. Had a veggie breakfast, and it was the most delicious ensamble of soft scrambled eggs, ball-shaped hashes, and fresh mushrooms I have had in years and years. All locally sourced, I'm told. Shame it shuts down at 3pm, but they deserve every client and every penny they can get. Friendly young staff, cordial and easy-going. A gem within another gem, Berkhamsted dreamy town. Will become a regular.
