A busy local pub with decent beers and food.

Today was my third visit - always for the excellent beer. What a fantastic pub! The staff are brilliant. The food looks delicious, and the menu looks reasonably priced. On my first visit, following a 7 mile ramble through the Chilterns, I enjoyed several beers but left my bag behind. A quick phone call ensured the bag was safe, and 3 months later, I went back for several more beers and to collect my bag. Today, after another 7 mile ramble, we were back. Same excellent staff, with a couple of new faces. I'll be back in 3 months! Thanks.

Nice homely pub with outside area. Great food and drink, particularly the cheesy chips, and value for money. Not big by any stretch but nice to be in regardless. Live music once a year at the beer festival.

We went there as it has a good reputation with friends. It didn’t really live up to the reputation. They had NO rosé - bad planning I’d say; and the simplest of meals- ham, egg and chips , wasn’t available. Again bad planning by the person in charge of catering. I’m not sure that I’d return to a very average pub

Lovely friendly local pub, have been a couple of times now, will definitely be returning. Didn't visit for food just a few drinks.

Visited this month and had a Sunday lunch. Lovely roast and piping hot would definitely recommend. We had beef which we would have chosen to have medium rare if we had the choice.Only thing I would suggest is to get some new cutlery, the knives were totally blunt, didn’t stop us cleaning the plates though!

My family and I ate here last night and it was fantastic. We’re staying in a nearby hotel and I saw the great reviews for this friendly pub on Tripadvisor so thought we’d give it a go. I’m glad we booked a table in advance as it was packed. The staff were attentive, polite and super efficient. The menu was varied and there was something for everyone (2 adults, a 13 and a 10 year old). The portion sizes were very generous so go hungry!!

Excellent pub recommended by CAMRA. Nice selection of real ales available included local brews.

Just a great pub discovery - tucked away in a Tring backstreet. Great beer - friendly atmosphere and reasonable (if not gourmet) pub food. Will certainly try to revisit.

What a find! A traditional, welcoming pub, friendly staff and delicious food! I visited with family for lunch having been to the Natural History Museum. We had young children with us and were made to feel very welcome, served quickly and the food was absolutely brilliant. It was great to see locals in there, who made us feel welcome too. There doesn't seem to be many pubs left like this one, and I'll certainly be going back when I'm next in Tring.

Nice town center pub that we played dart competition in. Very good set up in the garden room with a bar and 3 dart boards. Lovely staff and made to feel welcome. Parking can be a problem.

What a find! This pub offers an incredible selection of local ales and the food is divine. Service is also perfect! A local, friendly atmosphere. Dogs and children are more than welcome.

Had been here before for something to eat and sat in the pub and i could not fault it. This time we went back for Sunday roast and were sat in the coach house which does not have the same feel as inside the pub because it's too noisy and you can't really talk to people at the table. The roast was nice but ruined by the roast potatoes because they were so bad and i would say the worst i've ever had and all the others who had the roast agreed. I would probably come back again because the first time was really good.

Phoned in and reserved a table. Had an absolutely gorgeous meal (chicken quesadillas) the chips were out of this world 🤤 lovely place, great prices and big portions 🥰 I had wine 🍷 and my sister ordered a new beer 🍻 great stuff

I took my mum for dinner last night. The food was really good, all very fresh and extremely tasty. The pub has a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back again soon.

The ribs were some of the best ribs we’ve ever had and the landlord was so friendly. Not locals but he made us feel very welcome! We’ll be back!! Parking isn’t the best but who cares when the pub is this good 🤷🏼‍♀️

I went there with the family for a Family Get Together all 19 of Us , it was lovely and warm a nice friendly welcome, I had a nice glass of Rose wine, as the Family Gathered 😊 .. the Meal which was pre ordered, was brought out hot it was lovely, lots of chatter, Good Food Good Company .. We will Return at some point...

Great pub, full of friendly locals, had a lovely meal too...staff absolutely superb, nothing was too much trouble...would definitely recommend and come again.

Firstly visiting this place in the back streets requires the premise that their is no car park & that it's extremely busy...then the building itself is a beautiful corner plot with a nice stone pillared imposing main entrance. Outside is a lovely cobbled courtyard area steeped in history. A gin distillery on one side & a restaurant overspill function room on the other. Benched tables run the length of the garden with the area being a sun trap in summer & very popular. Having been to this place on occasion to participate in the odd ale over the years, it was finally time to try the food that I had witnessed in days gone by. They did not disappoint.....if you want to have the Sunday roast, it is advisable to book in advance( preferably a week)it's that busy. They offer a small plate choice or regular size. If you want dessert, have the small plate, as by the time you have added the beautifully creamy cauliflower cheese, you will have more than enough on your plate. The meal itself is perfection personified. Roast meat of your choice, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, red cabbage,etc. Mint sauce & horseradish to compliment. The lovely couple who run this place know their stuff... you will not be disappointed. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

Used the services when attending a meeting of Tring Together. Very good, friendly atmosphere. Would recommend. Today they were very accommodating when we had to change venues at short notice.

We arrived at 12pm when they had just opened, it was a cold day and the pub was just as cold inside sadly, we were expecting a warm cosy feel with fireplaces etc but this was not the case. Perhaps the heating had not fired up as they had just opened so we were able to understand that. However, the reception we received from the two ladies who worked there (older lady with glasses and grey bob hair and the lady with grey dreadlocks) was about as cold as the temperature. No warmth at all, we just felt unwelcome and as if we shouldn’t be there. Certainly not service with a smile, when we asked if they had some gravy to accompany our food, it was as if it were too much trouble. It’s a real shame, as the food itself was very tasty and home made which is impressive and rare for pubs these days. My only criticism was the cheese and potato pie we had was very dry inside (big chunks of boiled potato and not enough white sauce), hence our request for gravy. It’s a terrible shame that the staff were not friendly I.e definitely no service with a smile. Pubs in the UK are a dying breed, they rely on customers and you’d think they’d value custom and appreciate footfall. I can see that all the other reviews seem very positive, even citing “friendly staff”. Perhaps, therefore, we can presume and conclude that the reception we received may well be because we were a multicultural family of mixed races. If you’re a person of colour, you ‘just know’ when you’re not welcome. Damn shame and very sad.

Great pub serving a good choice of 5 local ales all well kept and served in prime condition. Staff are friendly and helpful, the home cooked food was as ever very good.

We had a very nice meal, 2 x roasts and a pie, all were good and the side order of Cauliflower cheese was amazing. We had a dog with us and my brother has mobility issues but we were made to feel very welcome and the staff couldn't of been any friendlier or helpful. Thanks and we look forward to returning.

Great Sunday lunch at the Kings Arms. Day trip to Tring and found the pub via the Internet. Food was great. Everything home cooked. Amazing meat, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and other yummy vegetables. Service was great. Jane our waitress was just lovely. Everything came with such a warm and friendly smile. Thank you

Decent Sunday roast atmosphere and beer

Found this place on the off chance whilst in Tring and what a find. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. I had a lamb Sunday roast which was lovely and hot and loads of it. The other half had ribs and the meat fell off the bone. He was very impressed. Really good portion size too. If you’re in the area, pop in. You won’t be disappointed. We will be going back when next in the area.

Loved this local pub, great beer, their own Courtyard gin, and really good food including small portions for small appetites. A great courtyard too, perfect for meeting friends or family.

Hands down the best pub I have ever been at. Known by the locals for good reason! The food was impeccable, the looks where superb. If you are in Tring be sure to check this one out even just for a drink!

Great staff here. Good real ales. But have a real problem with their premium lagers, we feel buying new glass will do the trick. The lagers go flat really quick, the prices are high end so I hope they resolve the on going problem. The food here is good value.

Brilliant pub serving excellent local ale. They even sell their own gin, distilled on site. Great food very reasonably priced. Only issue is lack of parking. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent all round. Very attentive service but not pushy. Food and drink, for our table of eight was perfect. No complaints, hope to come again before long.

Stopped off here for lunch today, we all had different meals and they were all very tasty and piping hot, finished off with a nice ice cream and americano, served by very friendly staff - would thoroughly recommend and would visit again if passing through the area.

Dreadful menu. The only remotely healthy meat-free option was vegetable soup. I think since we visited salads have been added which should be an improvement.

Ate in the Coach House on a Sunday afternoon. Food wasn't bad or great, ordered a diet coke which somehow tasted like stale ale. Ordered a salted caramel brownie and received a chocolate brownie (it was very large but not as advertised). The Mac and cheese bites were nice, in fairness, apart from the hair present in one of them. The waitress seemed a little under prepared. It wasn't an all together awful experience but I wouldn't opt to eat here again or recommend it to a friend. Other people in the party enjoyed their meals!

Very friendly, accommodating staff, excellent food and quality beers brewed at the local Tring brewery. The fireplaces beneath the windows is a unique feature in this characterful building.

Absolutely delicious food and the service was superb! We were hosted by the owner and he was so welcoming, friendly, professional and helpful. So grateful that was able to accommodate our large group! We had the lamb roast, calamari and mushrooms. The kiddos had a burger and smaller roast meal and they loved it. Massive screen showing the rugby was an added bonus!!! Highly recommend.

This is an old style pub, I could feel like at home. Very nice waiters, probably the owners of the place! Very good food, they add something different in each plate, far from the normality of the chain pubs.

Popped in for a delicious Sunday roast. The pub was packed, and it was easy to understand why. Excellent food, good beers and superb service. Can't wait to go back!
