Picnic on the Green in Runnymede

Lovely lunchtime rolls but a bit pricey paying 20p per salad item. Weird and wonderful can drinks but would have liked some regular fizzy drinks as a choice too.

On our way to a funeral we needed to grab a quick bite to eat to see us through. So glad we avoided the petrol station offerings and called in at Picnic on the Green. Initially I thought the selection looked a little sparse but I soon realised it was spot on. Choose your bread (any roll from the window or type of bread) select your filling (egg, ham, tuna, chicken, chicken/bacon/sweet corn mix and more) Salad? Butter? You choose. I chose the chicken/bacon/sweetcorn mix on granary bread and it was absolutely delicious. Top quality ingredients and excellent value for money. The nicest sandwich I've ever bought - never thought I would wax lyrical about a sandwich! If you have a sweet tooth you will be catered for too. The owner was lovely and when I popped back afterwards to say how we enjoyed our food, he seemed pleased. You wont be disappointed if you call in here

We had a (socially distanced) delivery from Picnic on the Green this week and it was delicious. Our order included pastries, tiffin, sausage rolls and two loaves of bread. Everything was fresh and tasty, it was lovely to have some fresh bakery produce at home while we can’t go out.

We recently purchased local breads and cakes, would recommend this local shop. it has a very good local touch.

Ambrosde is very welcoming and provides fresh bread and rolls (with paper bags not plastic), freshly made sandwiches and lovely sweet treats.

For me, customer service is 90% os the experience when dining, whether is is an expensive restaurant or a take-away as in this case. I chose a bad time on a Saturday and suspect lunch time mid-week is the peak spot for choice. Nevertheless the owner pointed me to a few ideas and I wasn't disaapointed.

This is a fantastic place like no other. The owner seems to know everyone and greets all his customers with a smile. The area is small but well stacked with quality food products and at the back is a small open kitchen where Ambrose, the owner, prepares sandwiches using various kinds of bread or baquetas using a selection of fresh fillings selected by each customer. Different types of snacks are available including fruit and juices.Ambrose has a good espresso coffee machine which he handles to perfection and prepares exquisite coffee or any other type of drink.His shop is like a mini village shop and no matter how dull the day is outside, all his customers receive a warm welcome and smile on entering . If you have never been there, give it a try,you won’t be disappointed

Nice basic spread of sandwich fillings here, get it on any bread or on a bun/baguette of theirs for £3. The baked things they have are really great too! Not to mention the owner is so friendly and service is always great. Essentially, you should go here, support your local businesses and enjoy a great sandwich for a reasonable price! (They also sell other small-brand produce, eggs, bread, ice cream, etc.) Recommended to all my friends :)

I love this place. Man who runs it really knows what he is doing, he is always smiling, very chatty, polite and the food is delicious, bread is always amazing and always available. I have phone ahead before to ask if I can pick up some cheesecake at a later time and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend this little gem.

I have used this coffee house on several occasions love the concept. I do however wished the layout and preset was clearer. The sandwich bar areas does Oy a menu or indeed any prices for the sandwiches can lead to confusion and embarrassment sometimes. Lovely coffee house but please price and make menu options clearer!

What a treasure of a place to buy delicious breakfasts, lunch, tea and to stock up on larder treats. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

We buy our bread from Picnic On The Green most days as they have a good selection & the best freshly made bread in the village The staff are so helpful & friendly & remember what their customers normally buy.

Lovely little shop in Englefield Green with lots of different foods. Their fresh bread is amazing with lots of variety, breads I've never tried but look forward to try in the future. Their homemade smooties are perfect on a hot day to cool down with.

Great service! They sell pastries, sandwiches, salads, coffee and bread! Everything is so good! Sandwiches and salads have a set price even though you get to decide completely on your own what you want in them! I go here a few times a week!

They might seem expensive but it's the same or only slightly more than other sandwich places in the area BUT theirs is much better & the owner is so friendly & helpful. I'd walk a bit further to go to them.

Por lo que pedí (simple baguette) parecía caro. El propietario parecía poner - haciendo demasiado, todo era muy complicada. Tienda completa de artículos que parecía demasiado caro para el sake.

Ambrose offers the best choice of sandwiches freshly made, pastries, assorted breads and goodies and his water is the best this side of the Thames.
