Went to this shop to pick up a couple of pies and sausage lovely shop well stocked but my only gripe is to much piled up on the counter I'm only small and couldn't see the lady serving me over the top of it all

Ordered lunch to be delivered - 2 sandwiches and 1 cake for £19 - the waiting item displayed suggested it would arrive in 25-40mins. After an hour it hadn’t arrived. When I rang to chase my order the lady on the phone said “I don’t really know what you want me to do about that”. She just blamed the situation on a lack of drivers and offered no solution or apology. Terrible service and a waste of money.

I heard rave reviews about this place and so was looking forwards to trying what was on offer. We ordered 3 of the festive barms. To say it was poor would be an understatement, was expecting some nice cut turkey, nice sausages, stuffing and crispy bacon. Sounded amazing. One and a half tiny stone cold sausages, stone cold greasy bacon, no stuffing and the lowest quality sheet of turkey. The three of us compared each others, not only do we feel ripped off, it tasted disgusting, unfortunately that is the last visit!

Had quite a few home deliveries and just placed another order for today. Top class products no matter what you buy. Delivery at these times for us older folk is brilliant. Worth every penny.

Good food, but beware the woman with short brown hair who picks and chooses who she wants to serve first in the queue, with complete disregard for who's at the front. Very unprofessional service and probably won't return as a result.

Thank you to everyone at Pickles who delivered a range of yummy pies, bread, sausages to my parents in St Helens. I live in Oxfordshire and you were real saviours on the food home delivery front - my parents have great food to eat and I have peace of mind. Thank you so much.

Resurrected this as a pick up lunch from work. It was as good as ever the sandwiches are very good quality from the breads to the dressings. There is no better locally.

I have been here many times and have had mixed experiences. The food is lovely and variety is great- many options for lunch. Improvements could ve made with preparation as I cannot abide the taste of onions and.often I can taste onions on parts of my sandwich as boards are not cleaned after each sandwich and no prep paper down to discourage cross over of flavours - I am fussy so I can.cope with throwing a bit of my sandwich away as the sandwiches are plentiful and very filling. However what I cannot put up with is poor customer service and just on Friday I visited, waited patiently in the queue ( a clear obvious queue at the deli counter and the woman with short dark hair just completely ignored me and literally skipped me in the queue...didnt even look at me and served the lady behind me! The cheek...I have limited time on my lunch and to wait and then be ignored has really made me fume and I can assure you there was no mistaking I was there waiting to be served so no excuses can be given. I was actually on a lunch run for other colleagues at work too so lost the custom for us all as I went to the daily grind instead and was treated lovely.

Having lived in St Helens for about five years, I cannot believe I have only just found this butchers cum deli hiding away down a side street in the town centre. Absolutely fantastic pies and the sausages were amazing. Will be coming back here again.

The sandwiches on offer here are the best I've ever seen. Massive selection and meat counter has a huge variety on offer. This is the best sandwich shop in town, by a long long way.

I dont visit Pickles as often as I'd like to as I shouldnt really eat bread anymore but occasionally I will be naughty and have one. Pickles do the best butties in town - FACT! If you like your butties thick and over loaded then you will love these. My personal favourite fillings are egg mayo or tuna mayo. but there are dozens to choose from. there is also a cooked meat counter, chicken barbeque and a good selection of cheeses. I can also recommend the pies and hotpots. The shop can become quite cramped around lunch time and the queue for butties and the queue for cooked meats jostle for space. the staff are really helpful though and it's possible to ring orders through in advance.

Great little shop to have in the town and a treat for lunch. The quality of the products used are amazing. Been going in for years now and have got to know a few of the longer serving members of staff and they're fantastic. Always polite, and no matter how busy they are they ask how I am. Very busy little shop which shows how popular it is.

I love this place! Their selections are great. The staff are brilliant. Their stilton cheese is quite possibly one of the best that I have tasted. The only negative point, that I wouldn't mark then down for, is that it can get very cramped. There is too much clutter of crisps and boxes on top of the counters and the display stands.

Always freshly made to your specification. The tastiest bread you will find. Wrapped up in greaseproof paper and popped in a brown paper bag. You just need a private place to eat the enormous doorstop filled to the brim. Messy!

This shop provides everything to meet your fresh food requirements, from freshly made sandwiches to order to hot rotisserie chicken and gammon. Their selection of fresh farm produce is second to non. A great asset to the town centre

This is my local chippy. When it first opened the lite bite was excellent value for money. Enough chips and a decent size fish. On the last 2 occasions I had the lite bite the fish wasn't much bigger than a fish finger. Long wait in the chippy as they were busy getting online orders out. You would do well to remember your local customers!

Womble Inn is a small place in the Hardshaw shopping centre which is part butchers, part deli and, thanks to a counter at the back, part fast food takeaway. The range of food on offer includes breakfast barms, burgers, chicken nuggets and curry and chips amongst others. When I visited there was a fairly long queue whereas the Waterfields Choice bakery a few doors down was empty which was a promising sign. I opted for a beef brisket and onion barm which for £2.60 was very good value with plenty of filling and certainly for me was a far better option than going to McDonald's for a processed beef burger. I'd bought my barm before going to a rugby match at the TW Stadium and was so happy with what I'd been served that I went back after the match, but unfortunately they'd stopped serving hot food by then. I'd very much recommend this place as a better option than McDonalds or KFC as you'll not only get better food at a decent price but you'll also be supporting a local business. I don't know when I'll next be in Sint Ellins in the daytime but I'll be most likely be heading to Womble Inn for lunch whenever that might be.
