Pickles in Shropshire

Four of us had a great meal. On a Saturday night it’s normally best to book a table - they do get busy. This Saturday night was no exception - they were heaving. However, our meals were spot on delicious. We didn’t have to wait for our table or our meals. The guys working there really do put a shift in. They’re very friendly, efficient and attentive - but not so that they’re hovering over your table. For us Pickles is the best Indian in town. Delicious food, great friendly service, a lively atmosphere and reasonable prices.

family birthdays, so dinner for six at Pickles, we always get out takeaways here, but this time we took the grandkids out for dinner, we had a splendid meal, just lovely food served by lovely friendly staff, thank you Pickles, see you soon

We haven’t been to Pickles for a long long time. Since we’d had a not so great take away we’d always been big supporters of the competition across the road; The Jaipur. However, we went last night with an open mind . It was packed when arrived but we were soon shown to our table. The menu is varied. There’s the standards that you’d expect from any Indian menu and a good selection of specials. We couldn’t find fault with any of our meals. Everything arrived at our table hot - cooked to order. The popdoms were especially fresh. Naan breads were very good too. We’d finished our starters but the waiter asked if we wanted what was left of the popadoms. They even brought more of the dips and onion salad. Nice to nibble on with the rest of our meal. Our mains were all spot on. Cooked fresh and very tasty. If we’re honest we perhaps ordered too much food. Portion sizes are generous. We couldn’t finish everything. Don’t forget that Pickles doesn’t have a drinks license. You have to take your own. This helps keep the price down though. Don’t think we’ll leave it as long before we eat at Pickles again. It was spot on and very good value,

horrible service, we were a little bit late as we had a hen do and the bride was 10 minutes late. then one of the staff started to argue with us, when we tried to explain the situation he kept repeating “well we are busy”. then the food proceeds to take 40 minutes to come. overall just a terrible service.

Service and food were excellent. Waiters were friendly and quality of the food was very good. I would highly recommend.

As the title states. Too be fair, the 50 minute wait between starter and main automatically dropped a point. Very slow service to the point every table had no food. This was then topped off by the people on the next table who vomited over our table. The staff changed just one plate but never cleaned the floor. Then they had the audacity to charge us full price for experience. The food for what we had before the incident was nice enough, so this will be a 2 from me.

Food was absolutely excellent. Could not criticise any part of the in house meal. Best butter chicken I have ever had. Starter accompanying sauces although quite spicy were thoroughly enjoyable. Will go again or will get takeaway. Thoroughly enjoyable and good value for money.

Takeaway from Pickles is almost as good as the Restaurant, free poppadoms and chutney greatly appreciated, good quality and good service.

A huge thank you to Team Pickles. We ate here on a recommendation and were not disappointed. Without even looking at the menu we were asked what we fancied to eat and hey presto our favourite dishes arrived. The food was amazing. Thank you again to Ali and colleagues.

It was our first time to pickles and will go again and recommend it. Staff fablouse food amazing carnt fault it at all was lovely meal out with my lovely wife. We had starters and main and the plates where empty it was that good. Thank you to all staff

Do yourself a favor and drive to Sangam in Stoke - Drayton can't do curry! Pickles can usually be relied upon to do a decent curry - if you can live with a kids sized naan that tastes shop bought rather than cooked on a tandoori. However tonight's meal was spectacularly bad! The rice was ok but the Korma was heavily watered down to the point of no flavour - think anemic gravy. I suspect it was an attempt to disguise the dry lamb pieces. I get times are tough Pickles, but I'd rather pay more for a decent meal than put up with this cutback special you are trying to fob me off with. So long Pickles - we won't be back. This meal was depression inducingly bad.

I say over spiced because as someone that ordered a butter chicken it tasted so full of coconut and and constant lumps of I think cinnamon bark and bay leafs it was rather ridiculous. Hair by my starter as well but as it wasn’t on the food I ignored it but still rather gross. Staff good but I just couldn’t bring myself to say anything, won’t be back.

Amazing food and warm and welcoming service from the staff, thoroughly enjoyed every part of my visit, the draughty front door was a bit of a nuisance but that was more down to where we’d sat, otherwise I’d say it was without fault.

Lovely selection of dishes all reasonably priced. We have been having takeout meals during pandemic and they’ve been really well organised and safe. Now eating in is back, they are obviously committed to keeping the customers safe and happy, the place is kept spotless, social distances adhered to and staff always so friendly. Will keep coming back to Pickles!

Had a takeaway from here, it was a toss up where to get one from as there are 3 fairly close to other. We chose wrong, it was dire. Poppadoms, mango chutney and mint raita ok that’s where it ends I’m afraid. The onion chutney was a bag of chopped onion, the onion bhaji was flat doughy and tasteless, the meat samosas bland , mushy & greasy. We asked for a recommendation on the curry which was a chicken tikka something or other with a dark grainy sauce. I’d advise avoiding the place if you know what a decent Indian should be like. This is more of a late night, tanked up last stop to soak up the beer place.

I booked a delivery last night to Woore and they kindly delivered it 5 miles to me. It was definitely one of the BEST curries I’ve ever had!! What a great place and I will be recommending to all my friends at work. Thank you Pickles.

We had had a busy day and decided to 'eat out' on our way back to Market Drayton. I have wanted to visit Pickles for sometime but never seemed to get round to it. We were very impressed with our visit. The staff were very helpful and the food was superb. Will definately go again.

Always great food and reasonably priced as they don’t have a liquor licence. Bonus becuause you can take your favourite tipple and they always provide glasses.

We booked a meal at Pickles with friends and had another great meal. The staff are very friendly and the food was perfect. There a great range to choose from on the menu. The food was served quickly and very hot. Very good value for money. We will be going back.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with my first visit to Pickles. Have always gone to the oruna for years but someone recommended giving pickles a shot so I did. When we sat down and they gave out menus I said I was gluten free and asked about dishes I wanted. I was reassured that the goan fish curry and chips were fine for me to eat. When the popadoms we ordered came I was told they had gluten in so I couldn’t have! I’ve never been told this in an Indian before and have never had any issues with eating them so felt this was odd and I missed out on my favourite part of the meal.The mains all looked really nice and mine tasted good too but to my disappointment it didn’t settle well with me. So couldn’t finish due to the pain it was causing.Will be sticking to other local restaurants for sure & a heads up for any others with allergies!

Pickles never fails to impress. I've been a few more times now. The best Indian in the area. The curry is fresh, hot and tasty. I was chastised for not mentioning the very friendly staff last time. Superb!

Just had a really good meal here. Picked this restaurant after checking the reviews of other Asian restaurants in town and was not disappointed. We started with mixed Starter Platters then I had the Mix Fish Zinga and my wife had the Lamb Shank. Both were superb in presentation, taste and portion size. We could not fault any part of the meal or service. Will certainly be back when in the area again.

By far the best in town, we had 3 meals planned here over the xmas period with different groups of family/friends. Its hot, fresh, great service, highly recommend. Taking your own ale in cuts the bill in half straight away, well done Pickles, spot on every time.

Really good food to go in and eat but not so great for a takeaway. The chips weren’t great. The staff are very friendly.

I've been to Pickles 4 or 5 times and have never been disappointed. The food is tremendous. Fresh and tasty, hot and spicy (if required). You bring your own drinks, but then you can choose your favourite!! Also saves on costs.

We have been here on a number of occasions for takeaway and restaurant service. All times it has been amazing, and the staff are really friendly :) Would recommend this restaurant!

Excellent food, with a very varied menu. Nice setting and very friendly staff. Not licensed, so need to bring your own booze. Very reasonably priced.

Interesting menu, attentive staff. I had a lovely fragrant and tasty chicken tikka katte mitta. Ok it's somewhat of a mouthful to pronounce but boy did it pack a flavoursome punch. Well worth the great reviews, I hope mine added value.

We went for a fantastic curry on a cold autumn evening. The restaurant was lovely and warm and so were all of the staff. The food was tasty and the best in Market Drayton. Great value for money and can't wait to go back.

Nice food shame the onion bhajis taste a bit meh but other than that very nice. Did ask for a very very hot curry as in spicy and it turned out nothing mind blowing but taste was good

Enjoyed our visit here. Bring your booze and good priced food. Meals good but this is not my favorite in Market Drayton. Always looks busy so must be doing something right...

We ordered a takeaway for 6 people on Tuesday evening. Was advised 45 minute wait and that was OK. On arrival we were surprised to find the restaurant very busy with about 30 guests waiting for and being served their food. Our food arrived in 1 hour. The very courteous staff offered a seat and refreshment while we waited.

We have visited Pickles many times and each time the food and the service is fabulous. We have not found another Balti place that comes close. The Barhar is amazing

Visited this restaurant with a large group of friends and was very impressed with this very pleasant venue. The menu was extensive and the quality of the food and service was excellent. Everyone in the group very happy with their choice of food.

As a visitor to MD can fully recommend both the good and the service. My Barah was truly rich and delicious with their secret ingredient a revelation. My partner tried the Salmon curry which he declared was aromatic, tasty and unusual. Friend’s verdict was a tasty, fruity Jalfrezi. The starter platters were enjoyed by all.

First visit following a few recommendations and not disappointed . Quality and range of dishes on offer were superb. If you go bear in mind it is not licensed but you are welcome to take your own drinks.

Our visit to Pickles was a great success,both in service price and ambience, I have visited many Indian restaurants in the UK and India,a pleasant surprise was the layout and comfort,the menu was very comprehensive with a great selection of traditional dishes,choices were varied by each of us,but everyone was satisfied with what they had in quality and amount, no hesitation in recommending this Balti,the staff were very attentive and helpful....

Enjoyed family meal with three adults and two children. Fabulous food for all and bive vegetarian selection. Bring your own too. Staff friendly. All dishes we had were cooked perfectly.

Ordered a passes on Easter Monday. Poor quality pureed slop with no flavour and dry chicken. No cream, no almonds and no coconut

This was our first visit to ‘Pickles’ and we’ll definitely be returning. Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. Food, and service excellent. Cleanliness, and modern decor made for a pleasant, relaxed evening.

Had a takeaway from here last weekend, the restaurant couldn’t be more helpful with our requests. The delivery driver was very friendly and polite. Food arrived piping hot and quickly!! Definitely the nicest Indian we have ever used - will definitely be ordering again!!

We keep going back because the curries are extra special. Certainly not run of the mill Indian Restaurant. The staff and service are terrific. The blend of spices and pickles is mouth watering.

Our second visit and even better this time. Four of us shared a selection of dishes and thought they were all delicious. Each dish was well flavoured and different and served really hot which is important to me - not happy with lukewarm.

WE called in this evening ,we had a warm welcome and taken to a nice table. All the staff we met were very friendly and eager to tell us about the dishes on offer. We had a great meal and all 100% will be back very soon Thank you Arosh Ali and staff great place to meet and eat.

Pickles has been our local curry house since it opened and we've visited at least twice a month since it opened. There have been various staff changes over that time and really sad to say that the quality of the food has severely deteriorated.

This is my third visit but my partners first. Service was impeccable, nothing was a problem. Very hospitable and attentive team. Food was perfect, starters of vegetable pakora and chicken tikka pakora followed by a delicious tasting king prawn garlic sizzler with garlic naan and pilau rice, my partner opted for the tandoori mixed main with keema naan and egg fried rice. We couldn’t fit a pud in however throughout the whole meal we were checked on to ensure everything was ok.

We’ve eaten several times at this restaurant and always found the food to be very good and the staff very accommodating and friendly.

The food was fantastic as was the service and friendliness of the staff. Would definitely recommend it. Can't wait for our next visit. The byriani was second to none.

Visited Pickles for the first time last night. Excellent staff and service with food that is second to none. Fantastic to be able to take your own alcohol to help keep costs down. Keep it up and you will be seeing us again.

we went for a friend's leaving do tonight it was fantastic service, that man who served us and waitered us was so kind and funny. always asking us if we are okay and the food is ok. the Bombay potatoes were the best in town. honestly I will be going here from now on. very cheap and great food. thank you for a lovley night

Five friends on a narrow boat for the weekend we landed in Market Drayton and decided upon this restaurant. We were all really pleased with our food. Prawn puri was very good and the main dishes chosen were delicious. No complaints. Just be aware that they are not licensed so you need to take your own booze.

Went with my friend Joy Whyte. The food was really tasty, do nice. The service and staff was excellent. Be back very soon.

Having recently moved to the area we were delighted to discover Pickles, we have order a few take aways and have enjoyed them all. Can recommend all the veggie dishes and the Butter Chicken which is always tasty. We will be back.

My wife and I visited one weekday evening on spec.. we were made very welcome indeed. This is an unlicenced premesis so you can take your own tipple, maybe call in the William Chester a few doors away en route.

Have a take away cheat night every couple of weeks and have to say the food is always excellent.

We like going out and trying different places to eat, a friend recommended Pickles to us but with it being a 40 mile round trip I was not in any rush..

On a whim, Mother and I dropped into Pickles for tea. So glad we did! It was delicious, with great service and great value. Best curry we’ve had in town. Can highly recommend both the Chicken Tikka Pakora starter and the Butter Chicken main. Lovely evening.

Very good food and service enjoyed by all young and old a regular customer a good menu plenty of choice and just as good to take away and have delivered !

We booked last minute, really enjoyed our meal, we could of done with a little more rice in proportion to the size of the dish (i.e korma etc)

Wife and I made an impromptu stop over at Pickles last week (being too idle to cook). We recently moved back in to the area and this establishment was not in place when we were here previously. I had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, it was faultless (big chicken pieces in a thick spicy sauce). My wife had Chicken Rogan Josh which she also said was one of the best she has eaten. Only one downside,,,,,,,the establishment does not yet have an alcohol licence! A beer or two is THE ONLY beverage to be taken with a curry (I had to resort to orange juice!). Next time I visit (as I surely will) I must remember to take my own alcohol. But I implore Pickles to try and get an alcohol licence ( just to mark it 5 out of 5!). PS Staff were excellent

We arrived early evening, about 6pm thinking it wouldn't be busy, although at that time not many people in, they had to check their book to see if we could eat, we sat down, staff very attentive, had starters and main, all were served promptly, and tasted amazing, will go again, the only down side ( and I can see space is a premium) tables are very close together.

Not sure whether cost cutting is getting in the way of service or quality but my last review was 5* now down to 1*. Disappointing to see such a change over the last 6 months.

We rang & got a table straight away without any hassle! The service we received was great & the food was gorgeous and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to visit here again!

Have had three Take Aways from here in the last 5 weeks and have to say the food is excellent. Fresh herbs, quality meat, no artificial colours - this is truly authentic, high quality Indian food which I genuinely think is head and shoulders above any other curry house locally. Service (on the phone) is friendly and efficient and the delivery drivers are always polite and friendly. I own a restaurant local to Pickles so no axe to grind here just genuine credit where it’s due - thoroughly recommended!

We ordered takeaway for delivery. Unfortunately one curries was missed off the delivery but once identified a replacement was delivered within 10 minutes with fresh rice and poppadoms.

Great Food and service you can also bring your own drink which is good the staff are helpful and friendly

Had some great food here - if there’s a group of you ask for one of the round tables - bring your own booze so it’s a cheaper night out - good value and great service

Me and my family have been going ever since it opened. Fab and friendly service. Food is gorgeous every time, it hasnt let us down at all, even the takeaways are the same quality as if your eating at their restaurant but at home. It’s good value for money and can even bring your our drinks. We don’t normal eat out in Market Drayton but this is the one restaurant that we do. We would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a good curry house.

Pickles !!!!!! you wont be in a Pickle when you dine with Ali & Mia at Pickles in Market Drayton. Indian food with a difference. quality second to none The very best Indian restaurant we have ever visited. Unlicensed for alcohol but take your own. Glasses provided at no extra cost.

Came here with some friends who had recommended it, having been several times before. Food was pretty good but I lost count of the number of times a waiter came to the table to ask if everything was OK with the meal. It wasn't three or four times or five or six and more likely a dozen times or more. Can be a bit frustrating when you're actually trying to enjoy the meal that they keep interrupting to ask if you're enjoying the meal! Other than that, the only tip I can offer is have a booth if you can.

I made a reservation for dinner for last night at 8.30pm on Friday at 6pm. I said that we were bringing friends and requested a booth rather than one of the canteen style tables. I was assured that that would be fine. However, upon arrival and giving my name I was asked if I had maybe booked in another name? The waiter then found my last name and pointed to our table, which was not in a booth. When I said that I’d specifically requested a booth we were told to go and wait on a bench by the toilets. Another waiter then came over and said that no one would have said that we could reserve a booth! At that point we left and will not go back.

Very sadly we found the waiter amazingly rude! (He literally shooed me away for taking a photo of our party and 'being in his way'!) and food exceptionally poor quality. Korma sickly sweet - children couldn't eat! ... tikas unpalitable - we had high hopes for this place after reading reviews, but I'm sorry a definite 'no-no' for us - I haven't ever previously left a negative review - so please be aware!

Had the need for a curry on a Thursday evening so we had no hesitation in heading for Pickles once again. Food and service as good as ever, it's to be hoped they keep it up. Excellent value for money as well.

Pickles Restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Market Drayton food scene. It's a nicely decorated restaurant with lovely staff, delicious food and the best bit is you can take your own bottle of booze, without corkage, saving lots of money to spend on the tasty food!

Just been to pickles for a fantastic meal and super service. I would definitely recommend it as the best Indian restaurant around and will go again and again. Not expensive either and you take your own alcohol with no corkageĺ charge which saves loads of money. Well done Pickles. Keep up the great work

Had our first experience of pickles two weeks ago. I live 10 miles from the restaurant, and did a pick up on a Friday night.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery for six and told it would take 60 mins to deliver. No problem with that, but then was called back to advise that card had been declined. Not declined at all, their machine was playing up as the second time it went through no problem. After 80 minutes chased up the order to be told it was just leaving. Eventually tuned up over an hour and a half after ordering. Very annoyingly, the first dish ordered (veggie, so no way of sharing other peoples) was not in the order. When called, they denied having taken that order even though it was repeated back to me. Advised that it would take over an hour to get the missing dish sent out. There are plenty of other good Indian takeaways and restaurants in MD, and when I told them that we would no longer be using them (regular visitors for both eat in and take away with a local curry club) I was told that it would be my loss, not theirs. With arrogance like that (don't forget, they are the new boys on the block and need to build up their reputation), then I'm happy to take that loss.

We went here for a change & were disappointed by the food which lacked flavour and depth. The staff were helpful & attentive.

On entering we were made very welcome and found all the staff friendly and keen to help with unknown dishes. We found the food excellent, good flavours and good sized portions. There is no drinks license so take your own, they provide glasses and ice if required. There are a number soft drink choices available. The decor is pleasant and the atmosphere buzzes as the tables fill up. We felt it was very good value for money and will certainly return.

We have a takeaway from this Indian Restaurant at least Once a week and I must say this is the best Indian food I have ever tasted, the best Indian restaurant in Market Drayton, to be honest... the best Indian restaurant in Shropshire!, the Food is so tasty its unbelievable, The chicken madras is so addictive because of the flavour! it tastes so good, we are always welcomed with a smile and friendly customer service ( other restaurants in Market Drayton please take note, you could learn a lot from Pickles) always hot food waiting for us to collect in person, you cant get better than that, see you again very soon. We had heard rave reviews about Pickles and a couple of weeks ago gave their delivery service a try. The food would not have arrived at all had I not chased up the order after it was 40 minutes late. When the food eventually arrived, about an hour late in total, it wasn't great. However, we decided to try again. A group of us placed an order for a take away to be delivered. Again, it was an hour late. So,the food was quite cold and dried up when it did come. Not impressed in any way and so after giving a second chance my first bad impression was confirmed. Needless to say, we will not go to Pickles again for take away.
