We frequent every time we visit shrewsbury. The food standard is very high. The service is excellent. I had tasty spicy pampadoms and a street food starter crisp semolina filled with a sweet and sœur sauce it was light and delicious. The main was a vegetable curry with a peshawar nan. The food was fresh and so tasty. The chef is very talented. They do taster evenings on Mon and tues. Will have to come back fir that. My fav Indian restaurant to date.

This was my second visit and it was just as good as my first visit . The food was amazing and not only did it taste good but the presentation of the food was also very good . There were 4 of us and we all had different dishes and each one of us loved it . The staff were friendly and efficient , and the food came out together and well spaced out between each course , menu choice is also very good and varied .I have visited a lot of Indian restaurants around the Shrewsbury area and this is definitely in my top two . Will definitely be returning. The photos I have attached are the starters .

In the area with my son's cricket festival in the school. Staying a few doors away, I only wish I went her first night and not the last. Food, service, venue and atmosphere were first class and will 100% recommend and revisit if up this way again.

Had a few normal meals here but I've been twice to the banquet nights on a Monday/Tuesday. Absolutely spectacular, the food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Staff were brilliant and very attentive. The food was like something from a Michelin star restaurant, but for £26! Can't beat it.

I went to eat at Curry house that day, the food was delicious as well as the service was comfortable. Especially the food cooked by the head chef Moinul Islam added a different dimension. The sincerity of the staff was more impressive, especially Sourav and Noj.

The meal we had was absolutely amazing. Not fancy, just extremely tasty. The service was good too - friendly. Highly recommended.

Spur of the moment choice and we were not disappointed. Excellent staff and service. Food simply wonderful. Only downside was a draught of cold air - aircon or door open and acoustics quite loud - both music and other diners. But would definitely go again!

Lovely comfortable restaurant with immaculately dressed staff. First class service and some of the best Indian food we’ve eaten. Only in Shrewsbury for two nights, and the food was so good, we ate there both nights. Would very highly recommend.

Quick delivery and very good curry (jalfrezi) and special naan. Chips weren’t as warm as they could be. My one ‘complaint’ would be that despite ordering 2 mains, 2 sides and 2 naans, (total order £37) we were only given 1 complimentary poppadum with the meal - I think it would be nice for there to have been 2 at least! Very good food though, would recommend and would definitely order from Curry House again.

Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere, average curry. This place has good ratings but really doesn’t taste so great. Some of the vegetable dishes are mixed vegetables (frozen). The sauces are similar, not strong enough in flavor and generally too sweet.

Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. ⭐️5/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸/💸 No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Came to the Curry House Shrewsbury on their exclusive ‘Gourmet nights’ they have on during the week for my wife’s birthday. The dishes were presented beautifully and the taste was something you’d find in a Michelin starred restaurant. Each ingredient complements each other well and highlights the chefs creativity. I personally went for the Amrisari chicken and then a lamb shank for the main. Both dishes were bursting with flavour, and the lamb in particular was falling off the bone. Credit to the CH team and I will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu!

Recently visited the Curry House Shrewsbury for their Gourmet menu & it was exceptional! Their food is always great but the gourmet menu is definitely a favourite for a special occasion. The bombay bindi aloo & Seabass palak were the best I have ever had. They never fail to amaze, from the service to the quality of food served. Couldn't recommend them enough.

Perfect from start to finish. The staff were always available and attentive, the food was exceptional and the restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. It was completely booked out but never felt like it.

We came here for my daughters birthday meal. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The owner came and greeted us. The food came out in an acceptable time and was fresh and piping hot. I can not say how much flavour was in the king prawns mmmmmmm. Washed down with a few pints of Cobra. See you again guys.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at THE CURRY HOUSE , and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. Best curry I can remember eating.

Here for my sons 18th a big group , but service was fantastic , food amazing and something we would recommend to anyone , we weren’t left disappointed and we enjoyed all the food , no complaints from any of the family that came we would definitely recommend and will be back again I’m sure

Placed a takeaway order with them only to have it cancelled forty minutes later! That's five minutes after the earliest delivery time we were expecting. Highly annoying to leave it forty minutes.

Such wonderful aromatic flavours! This isn't your bog standard curry house fayre. Everything is clearly prepared to order with no generic base sauces used. Particularly recommend the veg panch puran satkora and the tarka dal. Will absolutely be visiting again!

Unfortunately went into bin after picking the chicken out. Extremely over priced, a waste of money. Naan tasteless. Being charged £4.50 for garlic rice (boiled rice with slices of raw garlic) a slap in the face. Think was probably a busy dinner service and were getting deliveries out quickly.

Probably the best Indian I’ve ever eaten!! Food was packaged amazingly and was warm as well as being given extras! So polite when I called with my questions. Cannot recommend enough and worth every penny!!

Second time here in as many months. Last time pretty much our whole group agreed it was one of the best currys we had tried. Last night was exactly the same, a superb meal in a pleasant environment.

Hard not cooked chips, old oil taste . Lots if money .... for very poor food.

I would not recommend ethnic brown people come here. These Indians are extremely racist, I had a reservation a day ago. They placed me at a table almost in the middle, they constantly came to hurry us up and move the plates, then some White British arrived without a reservation. and they began to hurry us up. One of them told my female friend to leave. I have been a resident of Shrewsbury for years, but my friends are only in the UK for a few months, doing a church service.

My family came to eat here on Christmas Day as everywhere else was full. Wow what a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely amazing ! A veritable feast! A whole 3 hours of wonderful food. The service was excellent - the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome , asked if our granddaughter would like a different menu, and generally were very friendly and efficient. If we lived in Shrewsbury we would be back again next year for sure. Thanks for making our Christmas

A wonderful little Indian restaurant that really goes the extra mile - both in terms of flavour and in its extensive choice of menu options. The decor is traditional, the atmosphere cosy, the service attentive and friendly. Just like an Indian restaurant should be. Dishes are nicely presented. I attended with a group of six friends (curry house connoisseurs) and they all remarked how lovely the food was. A traditional menu but with flavours you just haven’t tasted before. Shrewsbury is spoilt for choice, with Avatar a few doors further up Mardol and The Third Place across the river offering some of the finest modern Indian cuisine you will ever find. Both are enthusiastically recommended. Indian food is one of the highlights of a visit to Shrewsbury and The Curry House is one of the top restaurants to add to your repertoire.

Food wasn't the best we've had, it was a bit bland, we did get the wrong rice, the rice was tasteless and the meat wasn't that nice, sauce was okay but didn't taste like I've had from other places, the bombay potatoes were watery and tasteless and far too big. The poppadom was soggy, not crunchy, BUT the naan was delicious, though. We had the cheese and garlic. Best Naan I've ever had anyway.

It is curry house , so it will be in and out , not going to be your 5 stars restaurant, however the food was very nice , the portion was good , and not bad price , I do recommend

We booked our table to accommodate their timing as 5.30 was too early for us but we took it anyway. Food was good as usual but being rushed to eat up drink up pay and get out left a nasty taste in our mouths so no we won't be visiting again.

We went there Saturday night and will never go again and they ripped us off £36 for two pints and one curry with rice . And our friends was all charged over £56 pounds no prices on the menu either . I recommended you keep away .

Order was late, smallest onion bhajis ever, food not hot & doubt it would meet food temperature policy. Garlic naan was crispy except for the edges. Overall very disappointed especially considering this restaurant has received awards & has high rating. Don't think we'll be ordering from them again.

We arrived fairly early without a booking (ahead of a show at Theatre Severn). We were quickly seated and drinks and poppadoms served. Service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant was well decorated with a good atmosphere although it was quite early. Food was excellent - not the typical any meat in any sauce offering. Every dish was individual and tasty. We really enjoyed the food. We will definitely be back.

They forgot to cook our order. I phoned once and they said it was on its way, I phoned again at 30 minutes late and they said it hadn’t even been cooked. We got vouchers, but food arrived nearly 2 hours after ordering.

Ate here first time tonight. Pleasant welcome and nice table. Table next to us were choosing from phone menu which waiter explained was the take away menu. However they proceeded with it. They ate all the food then declined to pay the £5 service charge. Anyway we ate from restaurant menu and found all we had to be good quality well cooked and my allergy catered for without fuss. Not over priced. Thank you guys we will be back. Toilets not disabled friendly but reasonably clean.

I have to say what fantastic service tonight was . The food was Devine along with all the little personal detail like the black branded bags , particularly accurate delivery time , the delivery man was dressed in black waist coat / white shirt black trousers very presentable greeted with a smile . Food arrived 20 mins early. Everything was hot and very tasty. £10 each for a Korma and a Dhansak is expensive. Our two person meal was £43 so we ordered an extra item to take advantage of the 15% discount for orders over £45. Would definitely order again as the food was great.

We went on a Monday night after seeing the promotion for the 5course Tasting Menu. As you may be able to tell from the photos, presentation was super. The taste of each dish was absolutely gorgeous and service was up there with the best My only snag ( and why it didn't get 5/5), was the fact that although they catered for my wife's vegetarian options, the same dish was served twice. Perhaps add some "digestifs" to finish off what was a really lovely meal. Would recommend a visit. Well done to the whole team,

We had a takeaway which was absolutely amazing. The only problem was our naan was missing, we called the restaurant and the owner came out to us to deliver the naan, he also brought bhaji, dips and salad to make up for their mistake. Highly recommended.

Not as good as it used to be to be honest! Just no flavour which is very strange for the curry house but yeah pretty disappointing 😭

I ordered a vegetarian meal which was supposed to be quorn and panir, unfortunately for me it was panir with what I strongly suspect to be Linda McCartney meatballs in a jalfrezi sauce...kinda taking the p*ss... defo don't recommend for the vegetarian as I found this disrespectful..any old sh*t will do..

Was staying in the area and ordered a delivery for us, popadoms and dips, onion bhaaji pilau rice, garlics Nan, chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. Everything on the order was excellent and would definitely order again.

Fantastic choice with various types of curries. The menu gives you an explanation of the origin etc. The food was excellent along with the staff. Price was reasonable only downside was the decor it could be a bit brighter.

A very nice meal but spoiled by 2 very drunken couples in their 30s who screeched and swore loudly throughout their meal. A complete embarrassment to themselves. Just sick to death of this British arrogance. Just sorry that the restaurant let them in as it was obvious they were very drunk.

Late has the delivery driver couldn’t find my gate which is a huge black date on the main road but as he went to the right address, which is fine but he refused to come to my gate I had to come out down the side to the front where he was, not very good customer service, he was very argumentative about the whole situation

Ugh well I don't usually put reviews but this time is necessary, ordered a meal me and partner from here we have sat in many times and enjoyed it, however literally 10 mins after ordering I had the message saying it was on the way, I had the biryani the save had frozen mixed veg in, was watery and cold, the chips, onion bhaji and poppadoms was stone cold and soft and was 100% not cooked today, considering we always thought it was a higher standard establishment I can't believe they sent this order out, ended up in the bin, had absolutely nothing to do with journey here I think it was yesterday's food, hoping they reach out and rectify

Spent a night in Shrewsbury with 6 friends and decided to go for a curry, The Curry House was recommended by a local we spoke to. Popped down but they were full at first but managed to squeeze us in over 2 tables. The food was fast to arrive, nice and hot and very tasty. Staff pleasant and friendly. Would I go again... Yes. Would I recommend to friends... Yes. Seems a busy popular place so would consider booking a table to avoid disappointment.

I have never had a bad experience with the curry house before, and I’m certain this was just a one off lateness, and was the result of a perfect storm as it is bank holiday weekend and a Saturday. However, I feel the need to be honest on this review.

We were a walk in on a Thursday night about 8 pm. We chose the restaurant mainly based on it seemed busy inside so it must be good. We waited a while to get menus but were happy to wait and questions we asked about the menu were pleasantly dealt with. We had the mix starter which took its time to arrive but was tasty although not as warm as I would have liked and served on cold plates. Waited similar times for main to arrive. Again tandoori dish could have done with being warmer. Overall we enjoyed the busy atmosphere and the food was ‘okay’.

A better than average menu with a good choice of dishes. The food was very tasty. Attentive service. I was fortunate to get a table on a Saturday evening without having booked - very busy. The restaurant is split on 2 floors and the single tables (2) were in the farthest corner but still plenty of space and good comfort. I would classify the prices as medium but the quality was good. There were some good vegetarian options including a thali. I had the crab cake starter and the lamb rogon which was subtlety spiced. I also had a salted lassi which I really enjoyed.

Very comprehensive and exciting menu. Each dish is given a series of codes indicating common allergenic ingredients. The staff took great care to understand our intolerances. Our meals were great in both quality and flavour. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.
