Pickin Chickin in Calderdale

The wedges from here are amazing! Chicken is hit & miss not always spot on. Staff need to cheer up as they seem very down & fed up & also heard a few customers mention it when we sit & wait.

The God of fried chicken blessed halifax (and the wider area) with this place. Wedges are manner from heaven. Chicken and wedges is why people go here....I've never bothered with anything else.

Holy moly macaroni!!! Awesome chicken, wedges are incredible and the garlic mayo dip!!!! Oooo yes!! Had the festive burger recently, wow wow wow. Simple but an exceptional combination of flavours. 100% recommend this place, just on the wedges alone!! The garlic mayonnaise is incredible with the chicken and wedges. The gravy is also excellent.

I saw many basketballs getting thrown about bananas and watermelon despite being only being 5% of the people there all the ones with baseketballswere shooting guns and attacking each other

I used to love it here!, the best chicken wraps and wedges around, but the last couple of times it's been dreadful. Hardly any chicken in the wrap, what there is was very dry. The chicken must have been sat there for over an hour before been served. It was almost like jerky. Literally had to wash it down with a drink. Quite mad to be fair as it's not cheap. Such ashame when places go down hill, they might think they are saving money by cutting the quantity of chicken and keeping it sat there instead of cooking fresh, but it's costing them custom. Sad to say really, but i won't be going back!

If you go here the food is nice but check your order before leaving. Went today, had to wait 20 mins for chicken, got home to find no chicken in our meals. He refunded for the chicken as he was exspecting me to wait another 20 mins for chicken to be cooked. It wasnt busy so dont understand their confusion. No apologies given even though I had to make a return journey. Not happy and certainly wont be going there again

Service was slow, but chicken was made to order and super fresh which made up for the 15 minute wait and being one strip short for the taco wrap

Chicken and wedges everytime, brilliant

Strange place you can feel your arteries tightening as soon as you open the door and the staff don't seem to understand the concept that humans have been able to talk sitting down as well as standing up for thousands of years .

My partner treated me to 2 chicken pieces , wedges and gravy from here , it was outstanding . The chicken was moist , the wedges tasted fantastic and the gravy ooooh it was like a meal in itself . I shall be a regular from now on .

I ordered a 1/2lb Cheeseburger for £4.50 & fries which cost an extra £2.00, The Cheeseburger was Very dry & tasteless & the Fries were the smallest portion I've ever seen & also had scraggy bits in it (not worth a £1 never mind £2) *See photo evidence, 'Pickin Chickin' used to be a Great takeaway with friendly staff But recently it seems to have gone downhill where staff try to rip you off with prices (Always ask for an itemised receipt or you may find you've been overcharged!) ☹️ I wondered why this place wasn't busy? Now I know! Definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone & I won't be returning again! 🤮

Always look forward to this place, but went today and nothing short or awful. The chicken was so overcooked and dry. My dog didn't mind it. Won't be going back.

Very poor, got home only to discover no chicken, I mean how hard can it be? Had to go back by the time we got home rest of the food was cold. Girl who served us very apologetic but not offered any sort of discount. Totally ruined my much longed for weekly treat, definitely won't be returning

We go every friday for our eveningmeal and i get something different everytime this week i got a garlic chicken wrap with chips whilst my partner had potaro wedges and chicken strips both delicious next week i might have a pizza or a baked potato with chillie ohi wont know until i getthere but one thing is for sure i shsll enjoy it what ever i choose ..

I wish I lived closer! I went in here to ask for a menu and was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. After going away to consider the options I returned to order a sharer meal deal to be ready at a specific time and the (rather beautiful) young lady who served me excelled in her customer services. The food itself, I can't fault. The pizza was not oily, the base was not stodgy and there was a generous helping of topping. The potato wedges, though, were amazing! They were so soft and tender, perfectly cooked with an abundance of flavour that made me wish I'd ordered more. My only regret is that I'm only in the area visiting family, and not a local, because I could easily return to this takeaway on a more regular basis, for the food as well as supporting the staff.

Fresh, tasty, great quality food. We were all SO impressed. We will definitely eat from here again. FYI it is cash only but there is a cash point at the post office to the right.

Tried this place before because of a order from a fellow employee at work, but went there and picked it up myself, clean and professional staff. Fixed problems with food if there were any and really friendly. Amazing food and service. Nothing to fault, but I heavily recommend trying the wedges, they're massive but are the best in Halifax for certain!

Lovely food although quite expensive so probably not affordable as a regular thing to most people... more of an occasional treat. The staff are lovely although it has to be said that each time I have been over the years, the staff seem very busy chatting to each other and I have needed to repeat my order 2 or 3 times. On a few occasions I have arrived home to find that some of my order is missing but I have been charged for the missing items. We all make mistakes but I feel that if staff were more focused on customers rather than chatting, such mistakes would be avoided. If prices were more reasonable and staff paid more attention to orders, I would give 5 stars.

Nothing negative had to wait for chicken to cook ( not a problem ) while I was waiting the staff was cleaning and it was spotless...6.30 pm and it was really nice and hot...thank you

Really like the wedges from here, we frequently drive from Manchester to Halifax for them. Only annoying thing is the price-quantity. Its £1.70 a portion and the portion size seems to vary a lot.

Great food but the prices seem to have jumped dramatically in the last week it's now cheaper to go to KFC which is a real shame

Got a tuna sweetcorn pizza and chips firstly the pizza fell apart waaaayyy too cheesy toppings fell of it was absolutely awful and the chips were cold half a container full and soggy. WASTE OF MONEY AVOID AVOID AVOID 😡🤬🤮

Got chicken and wedges twice on Tuesday late tea. After a few bites of chicken eating wedges got terrible stomach ache from early Wednesday until Saturday I’ve had food poisoning haven’t eaten anything as just being sick
