As other people said... Yes, the wait was a little long, but by far the most delicious and fresh food you can get in town, and that's why it takes time. You want food at a different level, you wait to be cooked by people who know. As a Latin person who lived in Spain 4 years this outstands in the old high street. The duck with celeriac and ham was from another world. The priorat wine was perfect too. And it's been years since I have a cheesecake so flavourful. I have a new favourite place in Folkestone. And... 🐕 Friendly too... All day

Really good food and cooking. With a lovely, hospitable owner/chef and an enjoyable and interesting wine list. You can have a drink and just a tapa or dessert, or go all in for a full feast.

Great tasting food. Tapas dishes delicious as starters. Black pudding a must try. Beef rib with big bean dish and potatoes to share delicious. Definitely going back for more.

Our welcome was exceptional, the food equally, each small plate was done to perfection. I enjoyed the cod pintxos v much and the Basque cheese cake which was completely large enough to share. My friend was celebrating her birthday and she was surprised with a complimentaŕy Cava, which was delicious , as was the White Molina Loco.

*This is my third time re-submitting this review as both my review and another ex colleagues were recently removed/hidden* Update: the owner continues to flag my reviews and have them removed and has made no effort to reach out. (Most recently TripAdvisor) Please consider my review before eating here. I worked here for three months last year shortly after the restaurant opened. Not only were card tips not paid to staff but the owner became very defensive when pushed on this. I quit shortly after this as it is abhorrent behaviour to retain card tips especially when most people paid for their meals on card due to covid. I would not recommend working here as the owner promises to pay you what you're owed and then ignores all communication. I'm hopefull that other staff members that continued working here after me received what they were owed but my experience was unfortunately incredibly upsetting. One year later and I still have not been paid what I'm owed. Disappointing as I knew Gianni before I started working here and now my opinion of him is a negative one.

Amazing food but they need more veggie options. Wine is superb!

Croquetas de jamon were delicious, as were some of the other dishes. However the portions for what they were, were very much overpriced (a few bits of sourdough for £3.00!! and small secondo plato's for £9.99!!) and the service frankly was less than average. Think PUP could be good as the 'kinda ambiance works but with some serious re-think about pricing, portions and service.

This restaurant besides cozy for a dinner makes a wonderful food, not so cheap, but good quality, soft meat and the service is exceptional, for sure I recommend and when I return to Folkestone I make a point of passing around again! You're all to be congratulated! I wouldn't have chosen a better place.

Authentic food, incredibly tasty and right in the thick of the creative Quarter. Service was very good and was fun to sit outside and watch the world go by. Not the cheapest place but worth it in my humble estimation. The big sharing plates looked great too (we had to stop staring at the table across from us!)

Menu is out of this world and food great but only whilst the staff have an interest in serving you. Sadly most of the time they’re focused on chatting with their mates and despite repeated chasing they simply forget you even exist. Could rival a London restaurant but not without a complete front of house replacement.

The food was delicious but the portions are very small vs price and the waiting time for plates is EXTREMELY long. We were waiting at least 1 hour for the main plate. The restaurant was also empty so there isn’t much of an excuse there. If you are keen to wait at least 1 hour for food then you can happily come here.

Ate here last night with my dad and had a spectacular meal, shared the lamb leg. You will not find produce like it anywhere is in Folkestone, it’s incredible. Had a great chat with the owner/Head chef and one of the chefs moonlighting as a waiter last night and both were super friendly. Highly recommend

Our server Stephen was very good, attentive and patient. The food wasn't as I had expected, I don't tend to enjoy deep fried food and I like veg or salad which neither was on the menu; also the only meat dish was £45 my husband and I expected there would be a tapas selection. I get they're trying to be authentic so this is just our experience

Incredible food, wine and service. We'd visited Pick Up Pintxos on the Harbour Arm several times and were surprised to read some mixed reviews, particularly Grace Dent's one in The Guardian, which struck me as a bit unkind. I'm pleased to report that Pick Up Pintxos in its new location is on fine form! The service was impeccable - friendly, attentive and relaxed. Excellent wines and I love an Alhambra beer. The croquettes, black pudding, salt cod fritters and scallops were just as I remembered - stunning! The restaurant has a really nice open feel to it and is definitely a star of Folkestone's booming food scene. I can't wait to come back!

Me and my wife were looking forward to having dinner here after reading so many positive reviews. However the evening was let down by poor service. We ordered 4 dishes which came out very slow - around 40 mins per dish?! The price for the food was a bit on the high side. There was no attentive staff throughout the night as we had to get up and ask to pay for the bill, only to discover that 2 of the 3 waitresses were just chatting away in the corner. Very unprofessional. I felt sorry for the one waitress that was actually doing their job and serving food. After paying my bill, another customer came up to the till to pay for their food too - another sign that service was poor and slow. It was a shame as the food was pretty delicious. If it wasn't for the tasty food this would've been a 1 star. Good service goes a long way!

Went there for dinner. Food is amazing, different level. Outstanding food and service. Our host was amazing and welcoming. We were explained everything from the beginning and we were more than happy to wait since we had a great bottle of wine. Again, great recommendations for wines as well. Our host was extremely knowledgeable. You don’t see this very often these days. Thank you for an amazing evening and definitely will be back.

Fantastic. The food was on another level from anything we had eaten in a restaurant recently. The starters were incredible and worth the slight wait while they were freshly prepared (something Steve, the front of house told us about). The main courses were equal in quality and flavour and were cooked to perfection. The Basque cheesecake was awesome for dessert and Steve was very attentive. It's not cheap but definitely worth the cost as it's been a while since we've raved about the quality of a meal. Thanks to everyone, we'll be back

How wonderful to find traditional Basque food in Folkestone! The food was superb - lots of tasty small plates to share and fantastic wine to accompany.

This was our second visit to Pick Up Pintxos and again it didn’t disappoint. We were a party of 6 and they managed to accommodate us last minute. To start we had the salt cod, jamon croquettes and sardines. All were amazing again. Especially the salt cod. When eating here you need to understand the principle of pintxos is that they are served as they are ready. So don’t expect them all to come out at the same time. For mains (over two visits) we have had the steak, whole turbot and beef cheeks. All amazing but the turbot was the best fish dish I have ever had. The wine list is fantastic and the wine in the picture one of the best reds I’ve ever had. The service was a lot better on our second visit and seems to be improving. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Folkestone

Decided on pick up Pintxos for lunch and could not be happier. Absolutely stunning food in a relaxed environment. Had the croquettes and prawns to share, olive and bread to share which was divine. Hake and Iberico pork with potatoes and fennel for sides. Will definitely be back the best food in Folkestone by a country mile.

I pretty much write this review while sitting on the toilet and having the worst diarrhoea from the food at Pintxos. I spent most of the night in the bathroom so I’m a tiny bit irritated and keen to share a review. The food selection is not the greatest. I understand that Pintxos that the owner wanted to keep it traditionally basque, however they could have added a few salads or lighter bits to the food selection. Food came super greasy, unfortunately I ate most of it, hence I spent most of the night praying to the porcelain god in the bathroom. The service was awfully slow, first they waiter forgot to bring cutlery and we were waiting for a good 10 min to ask one. As we were unable to get his attention, I walked to the counter to ask cutleries. 3 waiters were chatting there as there were no tables to serve. This happened at the minute when we asked the bill too. Despite of having only 3-4 tables to serve, the staff was busy to chat at the counter. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not return.

Had a very disappointing experience here. I would avoid in future. The first warning sign was when we turned up after booking a table outside and found it had been given away (we were on time) so was seated at the bar counter. Luckily there was only two of us, but it we had been a bigger group it would have been a real problem. It was then around a 30 min wait of trying to flag down serving staff, who were clearly rushed of there feet, before we were able to give our drinks and food order. Our starters arrived about 20 minutes later.... well one of the starters. The second had clearly being forgotten so arrived 10 minutes later after we reminded them. The starters were nice. Eventually the waitress asked if we had received everything, around 30 minutes later. Which we hadn't. We were still waiting for our mains. She went to speak to the kitchen, the orders had obviously been forgotten again. By the time our mains had arrived we'd already been at the restaurant nearly 1.5 hours. One of the dishes we ordered was the stuffed courgette, which was inedible. The courgettes had a really bitter, unpleasant taste to them. After this we left, thoroughly disappointed, hungry and 2 hours wasted. This was our first time in Folkestone and we had seen so many great places to eat throughout the day that we really wish we hadn't chosen here. Lesson learnt.

Heard good things about this place so thought would give it a try for lunch. Food was ok- nothing to complain about but not overly exciting either. The service was slow and considering they weren’t busy this was disappointing

We didn't book and arrived around 8. Unfortunately there was very little choice of mains left, the only thing was a £50+ sirloin that was pre prepped for size or Duck. To be fair the tapas we had was super delicious and the service was OK. I would recommend going early to ensure a decent choice.

Went to Pintxos by chance as it was near to the hotel we stayed at the harbour in Folkestone. Very busy restaurant and booking is recommended. It's Basque dishes and the food was delicious. Would definitely eat there again.

Sadly one of the worst dining out experiences I've had. I'd booked via the website for a Friday evening at 7pm. It was supposed to be a treat for my wife's birthday, and my mum was visiting from abroad for the first time since Covid started. They didn't seem to be able to find the booking and as a group of 5 we were shown to a table with four place settings. We had to remind the waiting staff to set another place after about 10 minutes. Our drinks order was taken only to then be told that they'd run out of the Gin we ordered (one of only two on offer) and they had no mango juice - remember this is 7pm on a Friday night! Then when ordering our food we were told three of the options we chose were no longer available. Also, we were keen to try the Txuleton but they had to check if there was any left! We were told we were in luck and there was one left - again, this is 7pm on a Friday night! We ordered 3 small plates and mains with sides but after an hour and a quarter we'd only had two of the small plates. We reminded the staff about the 3rd small plate but we're brought the wrong thing at least three times. Then two mains and a selection of the sides arrived. However, the two mains that arrived were finished (to save them going cold) before any sign of any other mains, and without one of their accompanying sides. However, shortly after the correct 3rd small plate did finally arrive! Enough was enough at this point and we spoke to the waiting staff and manager and chose to leave. The fact we couldn't eat together and share the tastes and experience, the whole point of going out to eat, left us all feeling very very disappointed. Given it was 8.30 on a Friday night getting in to somewhere else was difficult so we ended up at Weatherspoons! But at least the service there was very good and the food we ordered actually arrived!

A very underwhelming experience. My wife and I went here for my birthday last night. Pick Up Pintxos had been recommended to us so we were expecting great things. I won’t go into the agonising detail but half of the dishes we wanted and were on the menu were not available and we were only told this after 20 minutes of placing our order. The alarm bells were ringing when we sat down and got asked if we would like some water and nothing arrived until we grabbed the attention of a member of staff to make a drinks order about 30 minutes in. We were not the only ones having a bad experience, the tables next to us had also made very vocal complaints regarding the service and to be honest the atmosphere was very uncomfortable. The front of house had told us that they were understaffed and you could see they were visibly stressed which doesn’t make it easy to leave this review because we all have bad days. At the end of it all though, we chose to spend a special occasion in the restaurant. We have a young child so we don’t often get out for meals in the evening but had arranged child care for this occasion and were super excited to only be let down. The food was good, but considering we didn’t get the dishes we wanted we ended up with 3 potato based dishes and one of the mains. Between the starters and the main there was an hour wait. By the time it turned up our appetites had gone. We received a complimentary drink and the bill was reduced substantially due to all of the above but it wasn’t about the money. Our time is precious and we wanted to have a lovely experience on a special occasion. I’ve read plenty of great reviews about this place but they really need to up the service. One final thing, the lighting is brutal, that level of brightness isn’t flattering for anyone.

I do not recommend this place as the quality and the price of the food is absolutely absurd .I’ve payed 7 pounds for a dish that was only a croquette with a courgette on it and not to mention the service ,it is uncomfortably slow as It took the dishes 30 minutes to arrive .

Ate there last Friday. Amazing food. Our order was a ting bit slow to come out so they practively gave us two items off their snack menus. We ordered the whole fish for two and the chef/owner sent out free bread for us to enjoy the gravy that comes with the fish. Even without the comps amazing amazing food! And friendly staff. Will visit again. Ohhh forgot about the dessert! Yum 😋

The food was really nice but the service was so slow and no front of house, having to wait for table service and drink service. Added service charges ar 12.5%. A tomato salad with truffle, well it was a large tomato 🍅 sliced and olive oil £6.00. Not good

Great food! I would highly recommend the jamon croquetas

Very nice quality food, super tasty. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The only little issue was the 6£ tortilla was a really small slice which for potatoes, eggs and little bit of green peppers is overpriced, it felt a bit strange as the rest of the food is correctly priced.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. Beats gaucho, Goldman’s and hawksmoor for flavour. Went for a 1.1kg cut and it had sooo much flavour. Also had the iberico pork and again was extremely tasty. We will go back soon.

Wow! Authentic Basque food in Folkestone. Absolutely delicious. Muy rico! My wife is from the Basque Country and we visit there every month so we can categorically say this chef knows how to cook! Fantastic, we'd highly recommend. Gora Euskadi!

Really enjoyed the food there was a slight slip up with part of our order (it initially went to another table) but we eventually received it at no charge. The food is truely amazing and a rather rowdy table were delt with in such an expert manner so as not to offend while still quiteting them.

Small place on the harbour arm, definitely worth to check out. If you enjoy Spanish tapas, then Pintxos will not disappoint you. Good place for a snack or meeting friends over a glass of wine - don'tt expect a lavish main course. One Star less due to poor choice of vegetarian options.
