Piccolo Italian Restaurant & Bar in Stockport

This restaurant has quicky become one of my favourite places to dine, the staff are very friendly and professional and the food is so tasty 10 out of 10 for service and dining experience

Absolutely livid! I bought my son’s girlfriend a £100 voucher for Christmas. She booked a table for tonight (14/02/2025) for her and my son to dine for valentines. Firstly the restaurant said they couldn’t find her reservation, then when she provided her confirmation email, they “found” a table for them. The waiter then threw the menus in the table…no good evening, kiss my arse, nothing! The food was apparently very good, so I gave 4 stars for that. But the real piss take is that the bill came to just under £70. The management then stated that they wouldn’t give them their remaining change in the form of another voucher for them to go back and use at a later date. When my son said this wasn’t fair, the waiter said they would have to use the remainder of the voucher on a bottle of Prosecco. My son nor his girlfriend drink bloody Prosecco! So basically the restaurant have pocketed the left over £30 for themselves! I wanted to try this restaurant for myself, but if this is their policy, they can forget it. Nowhere on the voucher did it state this was their policy, if it had, I wouldn’t have purchased it. I want a response from management asap. This is a joke!

Had a lovely lunch here today. We chose off the main menu as it was still 50%off . The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Will be coming back,well worth a visit.

I’ve been here a couple of times now and I am still not bored. The food is always great, I’ve never really had to wait long from ordering, foods always great quality and hot. The atmosphere is lovely, very chilled and layed back. The staff are quick, efficient, friendly, they always have there’s eyes about and you never wait long for their attention. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food, we attended on the 50% off deal so what should have been a £93 bill was only infact £59. AMAZING ALL ROUND. Thank you for a great evening. ✨🪩

Went as a group for a birthday meal. I waitress was lovely and snook the kids extra ice cream for desert. Every one payed a deposit, and then payed the rest but it was still coming up short. Upon checking the receipt we realised they was charging us for drinks that had already been payed for at the bar separately, waiter tried to say the £60 was a service charge. I said I’ve ordered a coke, j20 and a water at the bar and showed him the bank transaction and showed them the receipt where they have added it to the table bill. £60 they tried overcharging for drinks already payed for. We told them we was not paying and walked out, as he knew once I realised what they had done. From other conversations they have done the same to other large groups equaling up to £150 in things they’ve added to the bill. Not many people would have noticed this but we knew we had all payed what we needed to pay. Would not be returning for the simple fact they are ripping people off.

Dined before Jan discount and will continue to be a customer. Food is great best tomatoes ever and no sneaky service charge so happy to tip friendly professional serving team

Really disappointed today. Visited with my family and were greeted by a lady who was fairly pleasant. The gentleman who served us throughout was very blunt and came across rude, he seemed angry and frustrated whilst we were ordering and gave us one word answers. But then walked over to other tables and was interacting nicely with them. We had the muscles as a starter which was extremely salty, however the calamari was pleasant as was the garlic bread. Mains were all salty (pastas) but the fillet steak was alright. The restaurant itself is quite nice looking, but the service was just really below standards to be honest and disappointing. We didn't get asked how the food was, or any interaction really. Won't be coming back again.

Before I write anymore I must say the food was extremely good and has been for some months now. However yesterday once again and the same as on the buble night in December, the bill was incorrect. No discount given on all the food (50% off in january) and once again we had to point this out. Same thing on the buble night in December when we were chsrged forceinecwe had not had, and same again when visiting with our family in summer when discount was not added. Incorrect bills every time. Why can you not get the bill right when other restaurants of the same standard can. Secondly and to my annoyance, my husband was given the wrong starter. The waitress gave him a plate of prawn cocktail instead of arancini which is his favourite starter there. We queried this and she simply said "that is what you.pointed to". Surely she should have confirmed what she had jotted down on her notepad before giving it to the kitchen. Surely she should have apologised and offered to rectify it. He put up with it but i would not have done. So we have decided to leave it for a while now. Having to rectify the bill as we did yesterday and on other occasions ast year spoils the experience. We were hoping to bring the family on Xmas day 2025 but that will not be happening now .

Delicious food and really attentive staff. Sara was particularly very kind and helpful. We would definitely go back there.

Had lunch there today. 2 courses for £15 between 12 & 5pm. Absolutely delicious! Sat in the new conservatory front, which was lovely & warm & listened to relaxing music whilst enjoying our meal. Definitely recommend.

Payed upfront £110 for 2 adult Christmas dinners, starter Fish cakes were bland. Main coarse was nice pudding came to soon. had a long wait for main I had to ask the server twice about our food which I was gven a rude look. Young staff very unhelpful and never smiled. Poor atmosphere for Christmas day not joy or a pleasant feel. Had 4 drinks we received the bill they added a 54% service charge on a £20.90 bill. I get it is Christmas but the service was horrendous, rude unorganised and literally not a joyful experience. I never paid the service charge as my service was below average.

We had Christmas dinner and payed up front for 5 people at a cost of £300 . We was seated underneath a balcony that was made safe by a hand rail and spindles that spaced too far apart. A disabled persons crutch fell through the gap from about a 3m height and just missed a new borne baby. The baby’s mum was holding the baby she got a fright of her life as did we. This was our Christmas dinner, the food was average not what you would expect for Christmas dinner. When I come to pay for the drinks two pint’s and two coffees it came to £13.00 but with a service charge of £26.00 for 4 drinks.

Came here going off recommendations but it didn't live up to the hype for me. The food was bland and tasteless. Had to chase the waiting staff for the things, however, atmosphere and decor is lovely.

Excellent food last night. In October I booked for 6 people. Given no information about it being a music night. Which we would gladly have joined, put in the very cold conservatory. Service appallingly slow. Half an hour before order taken (had to ask waitress to take it) then half an hour before it arrived. Also had to ask for the main course to be served. Will not return service is important. Waitresses need more training.

Went in last minute for 27 pizzas to feed cubs / beavers for camp night. Staff brilliant - no problem at all and sorted within 25 minutes. Sat me down and gave me a drink whilst cooking pizzas. Thanks all

I honestly don't know where all these 4/5 star reviews have come from. I went with work friends, I ordered a pizza that looked liked it had been microwaved. No cheese on it, I'm not exagerating when I say it looked like one of the 75p pizza's from the supermarket. I was shocked. No ground black pepper on the tables just powdered pepper. I asked for black pepper - they had none ??? Italian ?? The service and staff were nice, but the food especially the pizza's had nothing on them. Would I go again? unfortunately shame because of staff but I'm not paying those prices for a bit of dough, tomato and cheese. They reminded me of the little packs of 4 pizza's I'd get when the kids were small for a Saturday afternoon snack , I'm not exaggerating, I was shocked. My friend had a different pizza - hers looked the same, we both left half the pizza on the plate - I came home and had to cook tea I was so hungry. What a waste of money, I have had 5 times better and 2 pizzas for the price of this at Wetherspoons. I can't afford to go again, I mean that, and had to come home and cook.

First visit here & wasn't disappointed, fabulous restaurant with good service & very tasty food . I had chicken pate for starters & the pollo pizza ( chicken & goats cheese ) .This wad one of the best pizza I have ever had , loads of topping & the goats cheese was lovely. Food came out really quick even though we were a large group. A few of us did find it cold inside but besides that everything was excellent . I can't wait to visit again for more great food Fab resturant .

Was my first time visiting this restaurant. Food was excellent. Had the chicken liver pate for starters & pollo pizza ( chicken & goats cheese ). The pizza was definitely in my top pizzas I have ever had , loads of toppings & the goats cheese was lovely. Service was good & the food came out really quickly even though we was a large group. The only reason I scored it down one on atmosphere was a few of us found it cold inside. Can't wait to return for more excellent tasty food .

My partner and I came to this restaurant and we really enjoyed our time there, we have been back since, it’s the hole place and the food and wine is second to none We don’t do a lot in our lives so really the money isn’t that important we can go there and really enjoy, relax and have a great evening!!!

First time visit, lovely food for a decent price. The pulled pork pasta was delicious! Service and staff was good, a bit quiet when we went at lunch, but I’m sure a great atmosphere of an evening!

This is a below par restaurant. We ordered our food and it was microwaved by the looks of it especially the risotto.Wetherspoons is a LOT cheaper and better(dare I say it) quality. Avoid at all costs. Extortionate fake Italian food. I should know. My family are from Naples.

We had a delicious lobster ravioli and prawn fettuccine. Portions were ample but not overwhelming. We had a very pleasant bottle of house white wine which was nice and cold. The proprietor was very honest in admitting that the tiramisu was unfortunately not homemade that day as the chef was on holiday so we had a good pistachio melt in the middle dessert instead.

Our quest for good value lunches continues. And Piccolo certainly offers good value at £15 for two courses (and a tenner for just a main). And a goodly bit of variety – a dozen starters, followed by a range of salads, pizza and pasta dishes. It’s been there for years in the building built in 1841 as a Methodist chapel. So, bruschetta to start for one of us. Crisp, toasted bread topped with flavoursome chopped tomato and onion, drizzled with balsamic. That was followed by a very decent lasagne. For the other, fried squid rings in a crisp coating, with garlic mayo, followed by a Chicken Caesar salad. Good lunch

We had a great meal for 13 celebrating a 90th Church anniversary. Very friendly, great food. Only reason not 5* was one dessert got forgotten.

What an absolute Gem. My daughter and Granddaughter who is 1 year old went for lunch. so glad we did, treated so well nothing too much trouble. I had vegetarian Lasagne and my daughter had Vegan pizza and Granddaughter they made a special Penne tomato dish. We also had vegan garlic cheese bread. All the food was absolutely delicious, great tasty authentic food. We will be back that's for sure, never had such a delicious Lasagne.

Absolutley dreadful never in my life have I walked away without eating a meal service was a shambles had to go up and ask for drinks when the girl came over asked her for a cocktail menu she walked off and made a face we was about to walk out then we should of food came omg dreadful no other words

Great place. Nothing to not like.

Whilst 50% off looks like a snatch… it shouldn’t mean that you recieve 50% effort in service, food and overall quality. A missing meal and drinks, frozen food in the centre, cold sauces, forgetting to send orders through to the bar and kitchen and an hour and half wait on main meals is not acceptable. Any of this could’ve been rectified with anything such as a normal apology, instead we we're told by the servers that they know it’s bad and they wouldn’t have it themselves (yet didn’t do anything to rectify) and we’re told we were being slagged off behind the scenes for having to send back our cold, frozen and totally unacceptable food. Sadly won’t be returning, and from the look at every other dissatisfied customer with hours long waits for food, I think the feeling runs across the board.

Lovely little restaurant, atmosphere was calm service was wonderful really pleasant staff. Clean and tidy. Food was wonderful we asked for the steak to be cooked more, which was taken care off without issue. The costine was incredible i'll order them next time I go. The portion sizes are huge which was great.

We had a meal here with close family and friends to celebrate our wedding. We have been quite a few times before so we knew the food was amazing and the staff very friendly and accommodating, but we were even more impressed on the day! The food was flawless. I can whole-heartedly recommend the steak! We were very well looked after. They managed to get everything out at the same time, cooked to perfection and were so friendly and relaxed with our children which made all the difference. Cannot recommend Piccolo enough! You’d struggle to find better anywhere else.

love this place! sit in the window and watch the world go by! dined here with girlfriends…and drank lots of vino. food was delicious, we had the king prawns, ribs and scallops for starters then steaks…all delicious! the manager was fab, friendly, attentive and very professional. he gave us limoncello after the meal and i can thoroughly recommend the pinot grigio🤪

We have been regulars at Piccolo's for many years and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Recently, we purchased a token that gave us 50% off our food bill, which we used today. In our party of five and a child, we had five starters, five mains, two deserts and a children's pizza. Obviously, we knew drinks would not be included in the deal, but the voucher said "50% off you food bill." The bill came to £109 (after the discount) and our discount was £41. Our drinks (we only had water with and coffee after the meal) came to around £25. I didn't think the bill was correct and that the 50% had not been applied. We were told that the discount only applied to the main courses. However, that's NOT what the leaflet says, it says 'ALL FOOD.' Piccolo need to make this clear on their coupon, because not everyone will be as understanding as us and accept their explanation.

Been a few times to Piccolo now and both the food and service have been excellent every time. The portions are a decent size, tasty and fresh. The waiting staff are all friendly and polite and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend this Italian gem.

I visited a few friends in Manchester over the July period. 8 of us went to Piccolo on 20/07/24 for dinner and it was fabulous. The restaurant interior is lovely and the food is delicious. However, what impressed me most was the service. The staff are competent and the service is speedy. This restaurant recognises the value of having enough staff on to ensure there are no long waiting times. This restaurant is good whether you’re a family, couple or big group of friends. I wish more restaurants in London were like this place. I look forward to visiting again when I’m next back in Manchester.

It's always a pleasure to come to this lovely restaurant. I have been here with my Son for a number of celebratory occasions ... 21st Birthday, Father's Day & most recently, my Son's Graduation celebration. Friendly staff & great service. A very welcoming atmosphere & the food is always fantastic. This is definitely now my favourite 'go to' Italian restaurant. Highly recommended.

I rarely post reviews, but I don't understand all these 4/5 star ratings. Maybe we were just very unlucky, but our experience was unfortunately mediocre at best. First, the service: There seemed to be many waiters/waitresses, most of whom were stood talking with not much to do. Despite this, we were left for long periods at times without attention. Indeed, when we asked for the bill we waited 10 minutes before we had to ask for it again. When it arrived another 10 minutes later, the waitress put it down without saying anything. When the owner (I presume) came to take the payment, he took my card, punched the numbers into the machine out of my view, and swiped it himself! I've never seen that before. Luckily it asked for a pin, so at least I got a chance to see what the cost was before I approved it. Secondly, the food: I'm afraid the food was mediocre. My kids' pizza was like something you'd get out of a supermarket freezer, and covered in a layer of oil. The rest of the meals were just a bit boring, including my stroganoff, which was not worth £24. I was still hungry when I got home. Maybe we were just unlucky, but we won't be coming back here anytime soon.

Had the most amazing meal here on Saturday. We didn’t book as we aren’t local to the area but took a family visiting from abroad. It was such a gorgeous evening and the food was top tier. She commented that she hadn’t had a meal that nice and an experience that special in a long time. Thank you!

A small family birthday lunch. A fabulous experience, amazing food and very attentive manager and waitress, couldn’t wish for better. Calamari to die for, the spaghetti carbonara was delicious. Finally sticky toffee pudding was superb, especially a wonderful amount of ‘sticky’, many place don’t have enough ‘sticky’. We will definitely be back.

Went in the afternoon for starter/main courses for £15. Can’t fault it, had 4 meat balls and large bowl of chicken and chorizo tortellini. Absolutely top notch. Good service with friendly staff. Highly recommend

We came to celebrate a birthday on a quiet Tuesday evening. Staff were super attentive, food was delicious and despite it being quiet we had fun. Thank you for making it special. Little touches like remembering names and making a fuss of the birthday girl make a huge difference.We will be back back very soon! 😍

The most beautiful restaurant. Sat outside on a lovely sunny day. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I very rarely change where I eat an Italian as not many places do it perfectly but piccolo was recommended by the friend I visited with and it did not disappoint. Arancini was a delicious starter and I had the carbonara which was delicious. My friend had the lasagna which was very rich in flavour and delicious. Will definitely go again

Not sure if he is the restaurant manger or owner but to put it mildly I think he went to the same hospitality college that basil fawlty did !!! Rude beyond belief food is really lovely but he totally ruined our family night !! It was 9.45 we had been in a family group doing the canvas and cocktails event but we ate first and said manager made me feel very humiliated when I ordered a children's meal ,I've had major surgery and can only eat very very small portions he was huffing and puffing and let me know by glaring at me that he assumed I was a cheapskate!! After we had finished our evening of art I went over and asked very politely if we could sit down and have one last drink before leaving for home it was 9.45 pm and still people were eating but it wasn't busy and he said in a very rude abrupt manner "well how longa u gonna be ??" To which I replied its absolutely fine we will go swiftly paid our bill and went next door to the Prince of Wales pub where we were welcomed with open arms by the loveliest landlady and barmaid

I had a date with my miss. Everything was fine until we discovered that we had long black hair in our garlic break. The waitress didn't even offer us to compensate with something or to take that garlic bread out of the bill. We pay as normal and go.

I have visited this place 4 times in 2024. The standard varies greatly from good to extremely poor. We have enjoyed both Sunday lunches and evening meals, however the last 2 visits have been extremely disappointing. Recently I ordered Avocado Gamberetti. Previously the prawns have been nice and juicy. Not last time, they were like cheap tiny prawns tgat you get from a supermarket basics range. We ordered Chicken Liver Pate, it looked like it had been left on the side for hour's, very unappetising. The Sunday lunch was nothing like in the pictures. Meat was fatty, tiny amount of veg, and served luke warm. Maybe tge staff were to busy dealing with a larger group. Yes I've had the Sunday lunch before and it's been great. Overall I should have complained but I didn't. This is certainly not 5 star as described!

We had a birthday meal here for my wife and all the food was absolutely amazing. Reasonably priced too! The staff are lovely, giving exactly the right amount of attention to their guests. All in all one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. RECOMMENDED :-)

Popped in here for lunch I had the mussels to start and the salmon and prawn pasta in vodka and cream sauce. Both were fantastic lots of salmon and prawns in the pasta and I also got plenty of bread to dunk in the sauce of the mussels. My friend had the ribs and pepperoni pizza. Ribs were amazing and very good portion and pizza was decent. Served by 2 lovely friendly young waitresses (forgot there names sorry!!) Overall 5 stars and will defo be back again soon

My salmon and veg very salty. It's a shame as I use to love the food here. Due to be in company I would not complain. I don't do salt so when it's covered in it then it's not a nice experience. The staff were nice just a shame about the food.

Came here for some lunch after the restaurant caught our eye walking past. The interior is absolutely beautiful, the staff were so professional and welcoming (forgot to ask for their names but two lovely ladies). The food was so delicious we were so happy we came here! It was so fresh and flavourful. Not to mention the quality of all the ingredients was amazing. I look forward to coming again back soon.

Myself and my wife visited here on Sat. Been coming here for years absolutely consistent standards and service. The waiter who served us has been here for years and we were also served by the Manager (The big chap in the suit) who were very helpful and friendly. If I could give any constructive feedback it would be fix the mens toilet door and possibly the portions could be a bit bigger for the price tag. The food is home cooked to a very high standard absolutely full of flavour including the ribs and the lamb shank. Pizzas and lasagnes won’t disappoint either!! Well done to the team delivering a great night for us all round!!

Well where do I start me and my partner absolutely love this place….We have been coming here every Valentine’s Day and other occasions for 5 years and never failed to disappoint. The food is amazing as always proper authentic Italian food…Staff are so friendly and attentive and always have been since we first starting coming….compliments to the chefs as always as they always make sure the food is so tasty and fabulous quality….Keep up the hard work guys…🙌🏽😍💘 We got the gamberoni along with the fillet steak…The prawns were so juicy and succulent and fillet steak and was cooked to perfection and how we liked it….🥩🍤

Had the pork meal off the menu. Half of it was fat which was soft like jelly. Actually made me feel abit sick. Was expecting it to be Crispy abit. My daughter had a pizza which was one of the best I've had in a while. My wife had the roast which was nice.

Not a great welcome, but the server st the table was lovely and courteous. The maître d' seemed very disinterested. Food was decent. Ok for a local Italian would be nice if they did specials.

When I say this restaurant does the best carbonara I have ever tasted , I mean it! I have tried many Italian restaurants in the area and I am yet to find any in Manchester to beat this one. Staff are all lovely and the food comes quick and on point every single time , how any has left a bad review is beyond me. We will be back !

We go here regularly. It’s perfect for all kinds of occasions, be that friends, family, kids or just the two of you. The food is great, but I’d only ever give 5 stars to outstanding top range restaurants. We love it here, great food, great wine, great service and so dependable. It has become a Gatley institution and long may it continue. The ribs are insane though. Always get the ribs.

Just the finer details missing which let the service down. Staff need to listen, communicate, action. All staff welcoming and polite. Food amazing. Would highly recommend and defo come again.
