Benvenuti in Stockport

First visit to the restaurant and it won’t be our last, the staff are lovely, like to have a laugh and a joke and the food is the best I have ever tasted, great value for money!

Went for a family birthday meal. The staff are accommodating and a credit to the restaurant. We were in the conservatory bit which has over door heaters so keep the area nice and warm. The service was fast and the quality of the food was outstanding. The food was fresh and piping hot. We had a toddler with us and they were very accommodating they even have plastic plates. Nothing was too much trouble. My partner had the ribs and he said they were tender and the sauce was 10 out of 10. I had the garlic mushrooms which you got lots off. For main course, we both had their bbq tortellini which were served piping hat and stayed hot until the last mouthful. The kids both had lasagna, which went down a treat. Followed by ice cream, which can’t really say anything about that it went down This is a place I would recommend when a place we will be coming back to thank you for making the night special.

Me and my partner had our anniversary dinner here, the staff was very welcoming from the second we entered. The service and food was both equally amazing! The venue is really nice inside and out, very clean too. Would recommend to anyone to try and certainly will be going back again in the near future.

Terrible experience for 80th birthday. As customers for 45 years we were very hurt. No drinks for over and hour. The food was reheated. We were very unhappy with the treatment.

My friends mum ad dad first went here when it first opened in 1980 my friend has known this place all her life she first came here when she was nearly 1 with her sibling and she still goes to this place with her mum now ad she is over 30 now

Family run restaurant with a genuine welcoming atmosphere. Service was quick and food delicious. They were so kind and accommodating to our two young children. We will definitely be back.

Been coming here for 25 years, never ever had a bad meal. A beautiful family run Italian Restaurant, the Caprese Salad is a personal favourite! We also had the pleasure of meeting Phil Foden who was dining here the last time we visited. Love this place.

Absolutely stunning. Top quality, authentic food, extremely reasonable prices, outstanding service and an all round, genuinely lovely experience from start to finish. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Wonderful place with real food. Would eat here any day. Almost did since it was close to the hotel. It may be a little more expensive than fast food but would rather pay more for decent food than sloppy stuff any day. If you pass by give this place a go :).

Had a meal recently at your restaurant the food was very good. My only criticism is I think your serving staff don't ask the diners if they enjoyed their food and chat to diners. Also they come to your table put cutlery ect but don't say excuse me when they come between you and the next diner

Such a special little place. A friendly welcome, with excellent table service and banter. The food was absolutely delicious and catered for all dietary requirements. Lovely decor and car parking too! A place you must visit!

Shockingly poor food quality. Pizza bases were awful. Left 95% of it. Will never return. Everyone else in our group had a similarly poor experience.

Great experience out for a friends birthday, staff were lovely one female member of staff in particular went out of her way to compliment our hair, put a smile on all our faces. Food was great staff are lovely X

Tried to book a 7pm table for four, however we were told that they only take bookings for five or more. We turned up and after a few minutes we were showed to a table. We ordered drinks which were quite expensive, £5 for a small beer, and as it was quite busy it took a while for our food orders to be taken. For a starter I asked for garlic bread and cheese, I was expecting a lump of bread and a piece of cheese. What they brought was garlic bread the size of a dinner plate with melted cheese on top, very nice but too much. I had the Lasagne which was really nice. The staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Been going for years, great food, service is always excellent, very reasonable pricing. It's the only Italian restaurant I like and would recommend.

You don't put Parmesan on a Sorrento. Great pizza!

Very poor quality food and surly staff, very expensive and mushy pasta and hardly any meat in the sauce. Zero atmosphere too

It's been over a year since we last ate at here and I'm glad to say nothing has changed. The service was excellent, the staff were very helpful and polite and the place is like being abroad when your in there. I had the ribs as my starter and garlic bread, which was good advice from the waiter as the sauce with the ribs was excellent. My main was a lasagne which was very nice , seemed to be freshly made infact everything seemed to be freshly made and full of flavour. Thankyou to all who work there.

I love going to Benvenuti, it is a great local Italian restaurant. We go quite often as it is quite close by and has a free car park also, this can get full so if that happens we usually park in hazel grove park and ride. The food is great, we love eating here I'm a big carbonara fan, and the carbonara from Benvenuti is very good and the portion size is also very good, large portions. Prices are reasonable. The Tiramisu for desert is also fantastic and I recommend trying it. The service is also always excellent and the staff very friendly, the only improvement to service would be I do feel it could be a little snappier, we have waited a long time before now for things like the bill. Not a problem at all, just an observation. If in a rush it can sometimes be a negative, and the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. If you like Italian food and friendly service this is the place to go, give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Excellent service but food wasn't nothing like Italian food. Too much cheese and cream. Too fatty.

I use to be a regular visitor to this restaurant before moving out of the area. I come back for a family meal and felt disappointed with the service we received. The service all felt very rushed and the waiting staff were stood behind us waiting for us to finish our meal. Drinks prices are also on the expensive side. It's a shame as the food was lovely but the service really let it down.

Used to visit here years ago and would regularly return with different friends! As we had respite we had a spur of the moment visit as we thought we’d encounter the same experience of years ago. We regret this so much. There wasn’t a lot to choose from for vegetarians and what there was didn’t seem that appealing. In the end my husband chose the safe bet of a pizza (£15). It was small but tasty thank goodness. I chose spaghetti bolognaise (£15) which was tasteless and not appetising at all. Presentation was nil. Perhaps basil 🌿 could have added more flavour? 2 very small bottles of beer 330 cl. Yes - £5 a bottle - £10 a pint!!! One very small glass of lime/lemonade £3!!! What a rip off. Soooo sad. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t return. Ps. The staff were very friendly !

Cheesy garlic bread was amazing, especially when paired with the rigatoni arrabbiata pasta. Atmosphere was cozy and intimate. Staff were very attentive - our favourite server was a short guy with curly hair named Tom, he was brilliant when running around with his pepper shaker and Parmesan bowl!

Very disappointed compared to previous visits . Four of my family chose pasta dishes which were all tasteless . My lasagne tasted like a ready meal off a supermarket shelf . We won’t be visiting again unless the quality of their food improves .

Wonderful, family-run Italian restaurant. You are instantly transported to southern Italy when you walk in. The decor is deliberately unchanged from its foundation in 1980 with mementos from across Italy over the last 50 years. The building has space for private functions and an outdoor area which is perfect in summer! The food is lovely with dishes from across Italy, including the family’s native Muro Lucano and the choice of bottled beers and wines are authentically Italian. A truly unique restaurant and a cornerstone of the community where everyone is treated like family.

Birthday party Sunday 4th December very welcoming owner and staff, good food at reasonable price and most of all made a wheelchair husband feel comfortable.

We hadn't been for many years but were pleasantly surprised at the pleasant experience we had. We'll definitely be going again.

Went here a couple of weeks ago and will definitely be back. Had the ribs to start and calzone for main and were both very nice. Staff also polite and attentive with no feeling of you being rushed. Would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Benvenuti - the atmosphere has never changed! Decor like an authentic Italian restaurant with quirky objects scattering the walls. Staff were exceptionally friendly and could accommodate our requirements. Gave good recommendations and attentive. The food was wonderful. The rib sauce was to die for and the meat just fell off the bone. We had a range of main courses and everyone enjoyed their meal particularly the Benvenuti Pizza dipped in the sauce!! Nothing was too much for the staff and our children had a great time. Will definitely return.

Sadly a poor experience. Benvenuti used to be our favourite Italian but service was poor and food pretty bland. Garlic bread was not garlicky and was very oily. Food wasn't hot and waiter was quite abrupt! Won't be returning .

Starters we good, ribs were sooooooooo good. Garlic bread was tasty but on a factory mass produced pizza base, the kind you get from Iceland or Dr Oetker. Pizzas were genuinely horrific, using the same frozen type of pizza base as the garlic bread. Cardboard. Everything else looks authentic Italian, but no authentic wood fired or otherwise pizza in sight. I cannot stress how poor the pizzas were, the person who makes the pizzas must have the easiest job in the restaurant and has clearly never seen an authentic Italian pizza. Pizzas were the price as Piccolino, and more expensive than Pizza Express - both of which are authentic wood fired and rustic. We ordered 4 pizzas and it was not value for money in the slightest. Salad was lazy, 1970's style, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions. No rocket in sight. If you want to taste some of the best ribs ever go to Benvenuti. If you love ASDA / Iceland / Lidl pizzas go to Benvenuti. Service was great, wine was fine. Come on Franco, you know better than this - have a word with the pizzaiolo!

They were the worst pizzas we had in a restaurang. The pizza dough was a frozen one that you can buy in any shop. As an italian i would be ashamed to serve such piza..

Been here lots over the years and been very happy unfortunately this was probably my last time. We came for my dads birthday party of 7, initially order process was good, starters were nice and so was the steak. My daughter and I had salmon pasta, hardly any salmon in the dish. My daughters bf had chicken hardly any veg or chips on the plate she had to ask for their attention on this. Ordered 2nd round of drinks and was given a can of coke without a glass and and a bottle beer without a glass, i am not being awkward but when going in a lovely restaurant id say you have a glass. There was plenty of young staff just seem to be hanging around looking at tables but not actually doing anything and didnt seem to have a friendly approach, maybe some more training needs to be done here. So my overall view was very disappointed when spending a lot of money you do want the best of service.

I had my 50th birthday party here it was so good, I also had my retirement party here last night. Franco and all the staff made it a very special evening, the food as ever was excellent. The best Italian restaurant in Stockport. Franco couldn’t do enough for us all, nothing was too much trouble for the 45 guests. Thank you so much to all the staff who made it a truly memorable evening.

The menu is extensive albeit fairly standard options they could do with offering specials as an option Overall the group of 9 were satisfied and the service was excellent

Had heard great things about the restaurant so though we would try it out. There were 6 adults in our party. The food was very basic overall. I ordered pizza at £14 and was extremely disappointed with it. It was not fresh dough but a shop bought one, it was thick, dense and hard to cut with a knife. The lasagne had some meat in it and a white sauce with barely any cheese or flavour. The bread served with the starters was not crusty bread but basic bread. Sorry to say but I would not recommend this restaurant.

Lovely food, great price and the staff are very kind and helpful. Made baby plates for my 13 month old who loved the spaghetti! Plenty of space and great atmosphere, will be returning 😀

My family have been coming here for over 30 years and it has always been fantastic. I always request a meal at Benvenuti as my birthday gift from my parents and I am never disappointed. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious, it will always be my favourite restaurant.

Came here a few weeks ago for an anniversary dinner and was blown away by both the food and the service. Will definitely return. Bruschetta for starter is especially tasty!

Great customer service. Ordered a takeaway and collected. Was always a bit unsure about collecting a delivery as the takeaway is on a busy junction. I realised there is parking through the archway to the left of the restaurant.

Very disappointed with some staff didn't seen to know what they were doing , alcohol was served from a can (ridiculous prices for cans ) asked 2 separate people for the bill waited 20 minutes for it ,food was good though

Extreme busy on a Sunday evening. Very noisy inside. Food was too salty for my liking but ok, my husband liked his meal. Staff were pleasant, but obviously very rushed off their feet. As we were finishing a waiter took my daughters meal away so we felt very rushed. I think they like you in and out quickly. Definitely wouldn't recommend for a romantic evening but with friends or family then fine.

My brother and I grew up in HG and often visited Benvenuti’s as teenagers, we’d not been for over 20 years but last night did not disappoint. Service was attentive, food was good quickly but the quality was amazing. We will definitely be venturing there again soon.

It was my friends graduation meal but my baby was tired and fussing so needed to take her home before the food was ordered but whilst chef sorted everyone's meal the waiter himself cooked mine for delivery in less than 10 minutes so I could take my daughter home, amazing food and amazing service! Highly recommend!
