Piccolino in Liverpool

Perfect end to a fantastic day out. Absolutely could not fault anything. Love Italian food/ restaurants and this is our new favourite, even if we have to travel over and hour for a meal it’s worth it. We will be going back again and again.

Visited as a party of 3 having made a reservation at short notice for 8pm with myself being a coeliac (gluten free). We were about 1 hour early and were told whilst the table was not ready we were welcome to sit by the bar and have a drink - which we did. We were seated around 7:45pm. When ordering I was asked if I had requested gluten free due to an intolerance or allergy which is always comforting to hear. All the food was absolutely delicious including the gluten free spaghetti and portion sizes were perfect. My wife's starter came out incorrect but within a few minutes the correct dish was provided and confirmation that the incorrect one would be free of charge. The service was impeccable all evening and we all agreed that we would return.

Firstly we are guaranteed to come here again. There is absolutely nothing I could possibly find fault with. Great location, excellent customer service, immaculately clean. Reasonable prices and portion sizes. We booked for an early dinner at 4pm as we were attending a show at the Empire Theatre that evening. We were treated like Queens. The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. We had a main meal and a dessert which was also gorgeous. Our waiter David was brilliant. He was very pleasant to us, had a little chat but was never intrusive whilst we had our meal. The perfect host. They didn't rush you out once you'd finished either. We sat for 10 to 15 minutes enjoying the atmosphere. A million out of 10.

After looking at other tripadvisor reviews, we decided to book Piccolino for an evening meal. To put it bluntly, the food was far from ‘good’ and the atmosphere was chaotic. Both mine and my partners pasta was hard and undercooked and the pasta sauce was so watery. The bolognaise was so bland and far from authentic. I definitely have had better microwave bolognaise pastas! A couple seated next to us left all their food too and clearly was annoyed at the level of service and quality. Understandably, it was a busy Friday night, however this is not excuse for the quality and presentation of our food and meals. Definitely avoid and try elsewhere…

Managed to book a last minute table in a very busy Liverpool. Lovely meal and would recommend the Rose house wine. Great service staff were very helpful

Absolutely top draw, can't be improved! The Food, the service, the atmosphere all absolutely top draw! Dropped in for an early dinner & as it was before 5pm the lunchtime fixed price menu was still valid providing exceptional value for money. My wife opted for the 2 course & I went for the 3 course (obvs) every course was perfection but there has to be special mention for my main Meatballs in chilli Ragu & sweet Chocolate mousse, black cherries, caramel cacao nibs & vanilla Gillette. Absolutely the best Meatballs I've ever tasted & the sweet was just as good as it sounds. The 2 waiters were brilliant, with great wine knowledge & able to describe & recommend a fab bottle of Montepullciano. The atmosphere in the Cook St restaurant is very cozy, welcoming with a definite Italian feel. Considering there are numerous Piccolino restaurants about the Liverpool establishment definitely doesn't feel like a chain, more sole trading high quality Restaurant & I basically can't wait for our next visit. Visited on Monday evening (October) and waited nearly an hour for a garlic bread (starter) they brought out the wrong bread then made out that we were at fault. They then asked would we like them to start making our main course????!!! After two hours and two courses we got the bill which they cheekily added the service charge (for such poor service I would have been embarrassed to ask) Will not recommend or go back again.

Solid Italian food with a decent atmosphere

I do not recommend this place, as an Italian because the staff is rude and the food is not Italian. VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE, I EVEN GOT AN ANSWER IN TYPE BY A STAFF MEMBER. Go back to school to learn education before you go public.

Overpriced. Bruschetta was just a single slice of bread with some tomatoes on it and a single basil leaf? I’ve had Bruschetta so many times and this one was just awful. The arrabbiata was SO bland and watery it was the worst pasta I’ve ever had. Like eating mushy cardboard. Server was lovely and good at her job. Atmosphere was meh, just a load of tables with too loud music. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Came here as a large group of 11 adults and 1 child to celebrate our UK legal wedding. As soon as we arrived we were seated, and a high chair was brought over for the child without fuss or asking. We preordered using their set menu as we were a large party - set menu was 3 courses, good value, large portions and great choices. I personally had the calamari, sea bass and tiramisu, which was all delicious and large portions - I couldn’t finish it all. Everyone complimented their meal! The service was slow to begin with, with us waiting quite a while for a coffee but we were a large table and it was a busy Saturday night. The service picked up and we were well looked after, constantly checking on us if we needed more drinks etc. 2 of our party were unable to attend last minute, and the waiter serving us managing to sort this without a hiccup and didn’t charge us for their preset meal. They added a complimentary bottle of Prosecco as a congratulations for our celebrations. Would highly recommend - gorgeous food, large portions, good service & nice atmosphere. Will defo return

Wow!!!! Did not expect this in Liverpool. We are American travelers and have been to numerous countries throughout Europe and, this restaurant is by far on the top of my list! Outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Prices were also well UNDER what I expected. Had enough English and Pub food..... here's your spot. ( Note: it's a half block from the Cavern and in a great part of town.

Oh my word. I’ve eaten in lots of Piccolino restaurants. All have been better than this. The food was terrible. I mean, really bad. Overpriced and poor quality. We’re talking school dinner standard. The wine - a chianti classicco - cost £33. It retails for £10.99. It’s the quality of a £5 bottle. Much the worst Italian restaurant I can remember. Avoid like the plague.

Hubby and I had dinner here and were very happy with the tasty food ,lasagne and calzone with side of rosemary and garlic potatoes and salad .Service was good but seemed to take a long time to get our bill paid despite staff being available .Had to say we'd go up to desk for someone to come with it .However we decided to return with friends again a couple of days later for the set lunch menu which I felt was good value .Pudding was pretty big for a set menu so happy with that .Unfortunately again there was a long delay in staff giving us the bill when asked .

We picked this restaurant at the last minute and were pleased we did. Both main meals were fantastic as was the wine, and the cheese and cocktails to finish were spot on too. Although there were a good number of dishes not available this didn’t negatively impact our choices. Excellent service, too. Well worth the price for the quality.

A lovely authentic Italian meal was had here last night. Lady on front of house was very friendly and polite. Menu is very extensive and something on it for everyone. Waiting staff are very professional and helpful. Lastly, the food was beautiful. Everything was cooked well including a Fillet Steak. Would not hesitate to eat here again and will now be our go to when visiting Liverpool.

Cari amici non è facile mangiare vero italiano all’estero ma questa volta hanno superato ogni aspettativa e la prova la fai con la parmigiana( fantastica)con la carbonara (altissimo livello)con la pizza whaoooo E soprattutto con la gentilezza del personale alla quale siamo abituati Congratulazioni a Dario,Vittorio,Federica e a tutto lo staff…siete bravissimi e professionali Proverò il ristorante di Londra e vi aggiornerò P.s. il giorno successivo siamo ritornati…. Excellent meal here last night. Food extremely tasty and decent portions despite what other reviewers have said. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful and keen to ensure we had a good night. Yes it is a bit expensive, but given the quality of the food and service I don't mind paying that little bit extra. Given that this is a "chain" restaurant, the standard of food and service is way beyond what I would have expected. Will definitely be returning.

Really awful pizza, pasta too thick and over done by sitting under heat. Staff very pleasant and took the food we complained about off bill .very busy, very loud , music too loud. Crowded seating.

I've booked a table for two in advance and was given the worst in the whole restaurant. Attached to the bar, next to the till and right outside the kitchen. (In my opinion there shouldn't be any tables there) Expressed my desire to have another table and to be fair, 10 mins later we were offered another table, which was far better than the one we were sat at (the comment made that "we have another table for you, because you are not happy with this one" was a bit on the passive aggressive side) Sat down, took us a while to order as a few dishes we were interested in were not available. Ordered... easy over 45 mins later our food arrived. Cold mash potato, lukewarm meat and burnt and dry attempt of garlic and rosemary potatoes. The courgette fries saved the evening, along side the lady that served us. I wish I had more than a 2 star experience tonight. It's a 2.5 for me. Thank you.

Slow service, the main dish was pasta, watery sauces and no meat to be seen in the bolognese. Garlic bread was very oily and the potatoes were sitting in a plate of oil. Worst meal i have had for a while.

Erhan was amazing waiter, very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to friends. Food was incredible. Erhan really made the night special too- very good host.

I recently visited Piccilono and was highly impressed by Erhan's excellent service. He was professional, attentive, and prompt, making me feel welcomed and valued. Erhan went above and beyond to ensure all my needs were met. I highly recommend him for outstanding service.

The food was lovely, I would highly recommend, Erhan was excellent. All in all, really good experiance, I will be returning.

Lovely meal, only marred by the fact that they thought it was acceptable to serve an affogato without coffee as they had turned off the coffee machine, despite having just served us all coffees. Otherwise, an excellent celebration meal!

We visited this restaurant today for my birthday and what started off as lovely ended very disappointing. My partner and I received lovely service from our waitress, we ordered our starter which was lovely, tasted nice and was presented very well. We then received our main meal and it was awful. In this picture is a fillet medallions meal which is on the menu for £31.50!! Would you pay this for the meal pictured?! When asked by our waitress if we were happy we politely said we were disappointed with this dish and didn’t feel it was worth the money. The manager approached us and was very unprofessional, he was seen speaking with another waitress laughing about this situation, he proceeded to argue with us about this and even told us to not order this again if we didn’t like it!! We will not be returning

Nice atmosphere, but it was the staff who made this place worth a visit. They were very friendly, attentive and able to help when it came to the menu - there is plenty of choice! The food here was delicious, great quality.

Didn't book and was only waiting about 10 minutes for a table, service was very good, staff where very attentive it was a Saturday so got very busy, but had a great atmosphere, we didn't wait too long for food, my pizza was lovely the fries where piping hot, my partner got the Lasagne which he said was delicious. We got desserts which where gorgeous. We wanted to add a tip to the bill our server explained that there was already a service charge added to the bill but we tipped anyway as service and food had been great. Will definitely return in the future.

Came here on Sunday for Sunday lunch. as restaurant bar and grill had contacted to say there was a plumbing problem and offered here as a choice. We agreed as eaten at piccolino chester o lots of occasions. Ordered drinks told by waiter there were no cold bottles of diet coke . Ordered Sunday lunch waiter told us about rewards app were already members but didn't have app. He told us about the sharing platter which was a good deal with app so downloaded. Waited ages for th for to arrive we were so hungry. When it came it looked lovely but was luke warm I carried on eating because I was so hungry. The waiter came to as if everything OK told him it was all luke warm edible but nothing worse than like warm food. We were asked if we wanted the bill they gave us £5 off as a gesture because of our complaint. We explained its not about the money we just expect a hot meal. , we left as didn't wat to make a fuss as it was our wedding anniversary. After coming home and looking at the menu we had paid for the sharing platter which we ordered yes... but there was a sharing dessert included in the price we weren't even offered it...... Service was terrible we did see a few people complaining about cold food... Total waste of£65 !!!!

What can I say about Piccolino’s. Floaters, they’ve completed it. The boys described it as like “ Coasting down a lazy river with nothing but Fiorentina Pizza, Calamari and Zucchini Fries floaters”. For mains we chowed down in 12 Bolog (Bolognaise for those unsure) and although it had that rich vegetable taste, it left something to be desired on meaty goodness. The ribeyes were cooked well and seasoned in the right way. The carbonara had that “Take me home to Italy” factor as they made our CM reminisce about his holiday to Naples with his Mrs and their chihuahua Sushi. The real winner on the night was our left footed wideman ( can play across the middle too) Nathan, who indulged in the Duck L’Orange. He was a man in heaven, feasting well, with his glass of red to accompany. All round Piccolino’s came through for us, just like we knew they would. Providing great wine, floaters and a meal that set us up to win our first Peter Morrison Trophy the next day.

Came here for my partners birthday and the food was absolutely lovely. However, service was extremely slow in taking orders and bringing food out; it was very busy but as a result was very loud and couldn’t hear each other speak. Staff were lovely and food fresh and delicious!

Nice menu to choose from. The dishes we selected were cooked really very well, presented nicely with attention to detail. Service was very good, engaging but not overpowering. Well done to the staff at Piccolino Liverpool.

Nice food and service bit pricey especially on drinks.

Food was fantastic. We could eat it all over again. It was so delicious. Crab ravioli was awesome. And creme bruleé was magnificent.

The food is fine, especially the margaritas pizza. But topping corns on pizza are a real pain match. BC

Worst sunday roast ive ever had. Consisted of little squares of potatoes and carrot little bit of kale. Beef with blood dripping out of it and a teaspoon of gravy. No mint sauce available. Told the waiter. Was still charged the £50 for sunday roast really disappointed. Credit where its due looks smart inside an service was good just a shame what they were serving.

Ioannis was a lovely server and very accomodating. I had a great view and tried carbonara without cream. It was awesome lad. P.s just chiming in here, I had the sirloin steak (medium rare) and I must say it was beautiful but what made it better was ioannis’ smile every time I took a bite. Cheers 👍

Ionnis was a perfect accoutrement to a perfect evening. The food is exquisite and the chef was on point this evening. This has to be up there with the top 5 central Liverpool 'true and genuine Italiano experience' thankyou very much we will visit soon. Xx

Went to this restaurant tonight, ordered pizza, didn't think I would need a spoon to eat it. It was sloppy and there was no way I could could ever eat it if I used my fingers, came out Luk warm aswell, all I can say is I gave it a go, and I couldn't go back there again

The food was excellent and staff members Hannah & David very attentive. Ambience was good, even though it was a Monday evening. We were asked if it was a special occasion and my husband told them it was my sisters birthday. At the end of the meal, they brought a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it and sang ‘Happy birthday’, which was a nice gesture. It was only the next day we realised we had actually been charged for it…only a small amount but it was just the principle that we hadn’t asked for it. The kind gesture was a little ‘soured’ by this, considering how much we spent.

Lovely staff and nice food. Was charged 5.50 for water or something like that (which is very expensive in my opinion) and also service fee (which I don’t mind paying for the amazing staff. Tap water would be a better option.

Great Italian. Had calves liver for main course which was very tasty and well seasoned just a shame it was not pink. Every thing else lovely and staff very friendly.

Went in for a meal after visiting the Cavern (wonderful), welcome OK, starter of garlic cheese / tomato bread ( half and half) was good, my daughter ordered penned arriabatta which was avera6 I ordered Tagliatelle contadina- when the food arrived I was served gnocchi of some description ( surprisingly as the restaurant wasn't busy), told the waiter who took it away and said correct dish would be 5 minutes, tagliatelle arrived with an inderminate sauce which looked suspiciously liked the sauce that the gnocchi was in, tasteless! Waitress was surly, not a smile to be had and obviously got the order wrong, no apologies- £60+ (including 2 glasses wine), worst Italian meal I have ever had - would have been better off going to the Slug and Lettuce next door

Recently dined at Piccolino restaurant and was really disappointed with the experience. Don't mind paying for quality but on this occasion a search party was needed to find it, both £8 starters were lacklustre and the main meals unfortunately the same. The waiter was very attentive and now I know why. I wish I had been more diligent checking the bill so to anyone else visiting be sure to check the bill for the so called 'optional' 10% service charge as we were not even given the option, some people would say they stole it. The overall atmosphere was lackluster and uninviting. The prices were exorbitant for the subpar quality of the food and the overall dining experience. I definitely do not recommend dining at this restaurant and will not be returning. Being generous with the 3 star

Went in to piccolino on Valentine’s Day was seated straight away even tho it was very busy the food was amazing and the service was quick efficient and the staff are very friendly and polite I will definitely be visiting again in the near future

Bang average food, dry pasta and pizza with toppings all falling off. Service was good but that’s the only positive I can give, would not come again and much nicer food restaurants for cheaper value. Avoid.

Gorgeous meal with a great atmosphere and lovely service. Ioannis G went above and beyond and despite it being so busy, was incredibly hospitable - the effort he made to speak with us really made our night.

Ioanuis looked after us this evening at Piccolino. He is an excellent waiter which makes a difference to the experience! The food was good and reasonably priced.

Food just wasn't that great and let it down sadly. Pizza was very soggy in the middle and disappointing for the cost. Fries were good, did not try the garlic bread but friends did and this looked mice. Service was attentive, and friendly.

Very disappointed!! Had to send the king prawns back as it was black!! They took it to the kitchen and said the chef said it’s because of what the prawns have eaten!! They didn’t offer to replace it.

Not for the first time visiting Piccolino, greeted with what's not available on the menu. Not a great start to any occasion. We all had to compromise, and our guest was understanding. If we had a little more time, we would have left and ate elsewhere. Was it a good experience? No. Will we visit again, maybe, but there are plenty more restaurants in Liverpool. In fairness visited during the January offer, so the restaurant was busy. Would have preferred to pay full price against a full menu.

Excellent service from start to finish. We were a party of 10 fitted in at the last minute due to another restaurant letting us down. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed. Our table wasn't quite ready so we had drinks at the bar downstairs first. Bar staff were knowledgeable and helpful, drinks reasonably priced. We were seated upstairs and given plenty of time to look at the menu. There is plenty of choice including veggie, vegan and gluten free options. We realised that we had to leave quite quickly for the theatre, however staff were quick to help, the server coming to the table to help us work out individual bills. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion and would definitely visit again.

Came here between Christmas and New Year and had a wonderful time! The staff were really friendly, attentive, and made us feel extremely welcome throughout our meal. There was a bit of joking and laughs, too, which really added to the experience. The food was all fantastic. I went for the Burrata to start, which was absolutely delicious! I had to slow myself a couple of times to make sure I savoured it! My partner went for the tartare di salmone, which she adored! So full of flavour! For main I went for the Capricciosa pizza, which was very nice, the dough was the best bit, really moreish! My partner went for the Filetto Al Pepe and said the steak was cooked beautifully, really tender and so full of flavour. She also said the fries were tasty, crispy with fluffy centres. We also has a side of Zucchine Fritte, which were lovely, crispy on the outside, and cooked nicely in the middle. They have a good selection of beers, wines, and spirits, as well as soft drinks, so something for everyone! The dishes are pricier than other restaurants, but we felt the service and food quality were definitely worth the price. Highly recommend coming here for a great meal!

Really lovely restaurant with great staff and good food. We were a family group of 13 people ranging from 8 years old to 78 and everyone had a fab night. Also very accommodating with the food preferences of some of the less adventurous eaters!.
