Wonderful find. Tastes are sensational. Try the pork belly - any variation is tender and with a just crunchy crackling. One of the chicken dishes was full of lemongrass scent. Delicious.

The food here is fantastic, service was ok, but the toilets could do with a clean, not the best. I wouldn't let this put you off, the food is worth it even if a little pricey. Good selection of food here amd for tapas they were good size portions, we will be coming back.

Went there early Sunday evening, what a gem, tucked away but very worth a visit. Loved the interior, but the service could do with actually having someone to order from, waiters kept disappearing so we had to get up of the table for attention

Lovely dishes in a lovely location

We didn't realise until we arrived that this restaurant is located in the basement with no accessibility access... We had to take our young children out of the buggy and carry them down then lift the buggy down the steep steps. It was rather inconvenient. It was pretty with the cherry blossom decorations... But since it was in the basement, the environment felt a bit claustrophobic with the low ceilings. The food was nice apart from the massaman curry. I asked for the lamb to be changed to chicken but when it arrived, they had only added some extra chicken in and it still had lamb in... Turned out that they premade all the dishes so they couldn't be changed... So they're not very flexible to dietary requirements. The pad thai, duck spring rolls, pad tod, chicken satay were all quite nice. They all came in small sharing tapas portions so we got to try a few different things. The food wasn't very hot though when it arrived. I have been to more convenient Thai restaurants with better food options. I wouldn't be rushing back soon.

The tapas-style menu means you can try a bit of everything! Here are eight dishes we absolutely loved: Miang Pla – Crispy seabass. Gai Satay – Juicy grilled chicken skewers with a creamy peanut sauce. Pad Phed Nuea – Stir-fried beef with chili, garlic, and aubergine. Phranakhon Chilli Squid – Battered squid with a spicy Thai dressing. Ped Makham – Crispy duck leg with a rich tamarind sauce. Tom Yam Kung – Classic Thai hot and sour soup with king prawns. Kung Makham – Breaded king prawns with tamarind sauce. Gaeng Kaew Wan Gai – Thai green curry with chicken. To go with it all, we picked a Sauvignon blanc. Just right for balancing out the spices. Phranakhon is hands down one of the best spots for Thai food in Leeds. The food is incredible, the service is great, and the whole experience is just top-notch. Highly recommend checking it out!

Friendly and welcoming staff. Quick service. Loved the decor. Relaxing and cosy atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious! And good value. We did the early bird special menu. Definitely be booking again.

We came as a group 5 for a birthday. Top class service and very tasty food. We will be coming back!

We have eaten many times in the York branch which has always been outstanding. When we arrived here the lady member of staff was very accommodating with our table choice, so a great start. Unfortunately we waited so long for our meal as there were two large tables in that we ran out of our bottle of fizz and had to order another glass at more expense and to top it off the meal came out lukewarm. Although after telling us the food was in-fact warm, the waiter did take it back and reheated it. The food was very tasty i must say but not the birthday meal experience we had been hoping for. I think staff need to realise if someone is saying the food isn’t warm enough, it’s not. Such a shame as this could have been a lovely experience and as we regularly dine out in Leeds and we would have loved to return.

Great food, we have been here before and staff were Lovley, turned up at 1pm for a lunch and you’d have thought I shot the chef..still great food though no complaints there.

Amazing food and atmosphere for a Monday evening! Really enjoyed.

Really nice thai place for a very reasonable price - also has a great atmosphere once inside (although be warned, the outside is a bit underwhelming given it's just in a basement). Just had a curry and a bowl of rice and that was plenty, but if you're hungry you can go for more of the thai tapas dishes!

Si bien está claro cuando has llegado, no te dejes llevar por el hecho de que parece cerrado - no fueron las dos veces que visité. Tuve una gran cena, y luego su almuerzo especial al día siguiente. ¡Si me hubiera quedado en Leeds más tiempo, habría vuelto! Recomendado al 100 % por su valor y calidad

La comida era deliciosa. Los tamaños de las porciones no eran enormes, pero 5 platos satisfacían fácilmente a 2 personas. Sabores increíbles y un ambiente frío.

Lovely food, on the high end price wise nit really nicely flavoured. We had some of the vegetarian options and a noodle dish with tofu. Well decorated cosey place but quite warm which made us want to leave as soon as we had finished. Overall would recommend

We arrived about 5 mins before our reservation and were told we have 1hr 15mins to eat and would then have to leave as someone else needed our table. We queried this as it didn’t feel like enough time and were told that we could actually stay for 1hr 30 but it sounded like they were doing us a favour. Overall, the food was delicious and beyond this little hiccup, the service was decent. However, it really put a downer on our evening as we felt like we had to rush to order and then eat. We were done in about an hour and felt like we didn’t truly get to enjoy the atmosphere or food in retrospect. The worst part was that when we did leave, the restaurant had multiple available tables. Also, they accepted two walk ins without reservations during our meal showing that they must have had enough tables (there were only two of us). Overall, we spent £80 but didn’t feel like we got our money’s worth and while the food was good, it was on par with our local, independent Thai restaurant which costs less and doesn’t start the evening by telling you when you need to leave.

They do a really great early bird offer which is £50 - includes 2 beers or soft drinks, prawn crackers, rice and 5 tapas. The menu is of course smaller but we'll worth it and is more than enough for 2 people.

Qué hallazgo Una pequeña caverna oculta de esplendor subterráneo tailandés Gran comida tailandesa servida por personal amable Tapas españolas sí... Thai Tapas que gran idea... Variedad de platos recién cocinados , sabrosos y de gran valor. Había 5 de nosotros pedimos 10-12 platos entre nosotros que era casi correcto, la comida tenía un gran sabor Carne crujiente. La carne de res, el brócoli crujiente, el pato, el curry Masamannam, las gambas tempura y el cojín de panza de cerdo tailandés, entre otros, eran encantadores. Ideal para una noche en pareja o familia, cena de amigos del trabajo Inténtalo. POR FAVOR

Visitamos anoche como cena previa al teatro. Había revisado el menú antes y pensé que las opciones de tapas se veían muy bien. El menú es extenso con algunas grandes opciones. La comida estaba bien presentada, pero era tan decepcionante. El calamar crujiente de sal y pimienta era masticable y como el caucho, las empanadas de pescado también eran como el caucho. Pedimos la carne crujiente dulce y salada, que literalmente se quemó trozos de carne desmenuzada y la salsa era muy aceitosa. El único plato bueno era el cerdo de vientre en salsa hoisin servido en una hoja de lechuga. El servicio era pobre, los camareros no estaban interesados - no vamos a volver.

El curry era mi favorito pero he olvidado cómo se llamaba. Sin duda volveremos cuando sea el próximo en la zona.

Fantástica selección de tapas tailandesas que fue una gran oportunidad para probar varios platos. La comida era genial, muy sabrosa! El servicio fue atento sin ser intrusivo. El restaurante tenía un interior atractivo. Nos habríamos dejado una propina, pero el alto cargo por servicio se encargó de eso, que me imagino que es opcional, pero lo pagamos de todos modos. Los platos eran quizás un poco caros para el tamaño de la porción, pero aprecio que los platos pequeños son a menudo más intensivos en mano de obra. Estábamos muy contentos con la experiencia en general y nos gustaría volver.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but overall, the experience was a bit disappointing. The food was quite average, with heavy localization, so it didn’t feel like authentic Thai cuisine. Considering the taste and quality, I found it to be overpriced for what you get.

On business in Leeds - 3rd night looking for somewhere walkable close to centre and train station. Chose this on spec but what a great choice! Tasty tapas some old faves like green Thai and pad Thai but also some great new dishes - sea bass was a winner with crispy mushrooms and belly pork coming close. Recommend this little restaurant which is in a basement but decorated to create a great vibe

Food was outstanding, we ordered three dishes each and some rice which was probably the right amount of food. Everything was delicious, loved the chicken wings in fish sauce caramel, Som Tum, Crispy Pork Belly, Panaeg Beef. Service was dissapointing, they seemed to be packing up at 1930, clearly didn't want to be there, it was difficult to get more drinks and our water replenished, we ordered desserts only to find out that the chef didn't want to cook anything else at 2030 so had to miss out. Left feeling dissapointed despite the incredible food, if they don't want customers just close for the evening. Anyway, I'd still visit again but maybe earlier in the day before the staff want to go home.

I've tried several Thai restaurants in the UK, and I have to say, this place is quite good, especially for someone like me who is Thai. The food was tasty compared to other Thai restaurants, and the service was exceptional. The atmosphere was also fantastic. However, the portion sizes were a bit small. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Quirky place in what looks like a house basement. It's tight and crowded. However, the food is fantastic and very well priced and sized to get 2-3 dishes per person. Definitely recommended

Nice selection to choose from on the menu. We went for a few tapas dishes which were all really tasty. The dining area is really nicely decorated despite it being small.

Lovely Thai tapas restaurant in Leeds. All of the dishes tasted fresh, had lots of flavor, and had decent sauces, which we really enjoyed. Each tapas dish is over 8 pounds snd 3-4 dishes per person is sufficient. The dishes with crispy pork belly are highly recommended.

Hi there! Firstly, I’m a huge fan phranakhon. The food is always outstanding and well priced. I’ve actually got more of a specific issue I would love to speak to somebody about. Last night me and my partner arrived for a 7pm booking which I had made several days in advance, in the booking notes I even stated how this was for my partners birthday as it’s one of her favourite restaurants (because the food is that good!) Sadly things did not go well last night. It was clear the team had no table prepared for us even thought we arrived on time. They then spent the next 5 minutes discussing where they would even put us while we stood around (even though there were multiple tables of 2 available) Once we were sat down, a server immediately came over and asked if were okay to leave in exactly an hours time, I myself work in hospitality and understand it can be quite difficult when an unexpected booking turn up however, to ask us if we will only take an hour to eat our food and be out of the restaurant just feels wrong. I don’t see this as acceptable. Let alone the fact I’d already booked and this was supposed to be special for my partners birthday celebrations. It instantly left a sour taste in our mouths as it was such a disappointment to be told we’re essentially getting kicked out in an hour when we already like this place so much! Anyway…. We’re now sat down and feeling a bit down, next we see two separate tables of 2 sit around us and each are served their starters of prawn crackers and drinks before us. Something we thought nothing of. Then both tables are served their mains of tapas dishes, before we have even received our prawn crackers let alone our main dishes. At this point we’re finding it hard to enjoy the place as it feels as if the staff have essentially kicked us to the side. Now to make matters worse, and I want to make it clear that this is what really upset us, BOTH of these tables had paid up and left before we were even served our mains! They arrived much later than us and somehow ate their starters, mains and paid the bill before we had even begun eating. I spent just short of £90 on this meal and I didn’t even get an apology off the staff. I am not the sort to ask for compensation as it just feels cheeky however I think an apology was more than expected at this point. All in we waited just under an hour after ordering our food, to be served it. While watching people who arrived later than us eat and leave. I’d like to state I think this is a one off occurrence as phranakhon certainly run a tight ship! To say the least, I am really unhappy with this and feel I have spent far too much to be treated the way we were. I would be more than happy to discuss this further with somebody. Thanks!

The food here is very good. However I have been put off visiting again due to the service and getting our order wrong. Firstly we arrived at 7:30pm without a booking and asked if they had any availability on a table for two that evening, we was told no and that they were full, the lady did not even seem to check or try to accommodate us. I went back up the stairs outside to get a mobile phone signal, checked online and booked a table for two for 8:30pm that evening. Secondly although the food is good here, we ordered three dishes each, one of which was not what we had ordered. When mentioned this to the staff and queried this, the lady went through the dishes. No apology and said it was what we had ordered, I didn’t want to make much of a fuss or get into a debate about what dish was what so we carried on eating. I then ordered an extra dish which was what should have came in the first place. Please be careful on what you order and make sure it’s correct. The staff seem too busy to care not much attention is given in terms of customer service here but the food as mentioned is good.

Visited here 13/04/24 with my wife for lunch. The restaurant is lovely… small and intimate. They have lots of variety on the menu and all sounded very delicious. We chose 5 tapas and 2 glasses of wine while came to £81, which I didn’t think was too bad. However I paid £90 in cash, but my change never materialised. Normally I would leave a tip, but at least give me the option to choose how much I give instead of presuming that the change was in fact the tip

Nice place, nice food but the service we received was really poor. They completely missed two people's orders. After reordering them they still got it wrong and still missed two dishes from one order. Eventually both got food, but one only received the bulk of their order after the rest of us had finished eating. We were only a party of 6 and the restaurant wasn't very busy so it really is an unforgivable service.

Phranakhon is one of my all time favourite restaurants and today confirmed that once more. Not only is there an extensive tapas menu, it caters for all food requirements with plenty of vegetarian food also. The staff are very polite and helpful and the food is amazing.

4 of us went Monday evening- Down stairs, restaurant is in basement, plenty of atmosphere although only 1/3 full. Ordered 8 tapas plates plus some rice and veg. Fish, belly pork, sea bass, squid , prawns- everything extremely tasty and variety of flavours. Friendly efficient staff. Great evening, good value. On a Monday night plenty of parking outside on street, but didn’t expect a flippin traffic warden ☹️
