Despite the outside basement staircase looking uninviting go inside. It’s lovely! And the food is great.

The place is really good! The interior is wonderful, the serving is really fast. I only have 3 stars for the food because the portions are small for the price. Other than that they have a huge variety, the taste is excellent but buy at least 2 if not 3 :) The english language of the staff could be better as well. Other than that, I recommend the place!

Ended up going here by chance for lunch while in Leeds; from outside it doesn't look much with being basement level ), but inside its amazing! We had 4 tapas between two and there was plenty of food and it was so good - everything was great but the pork belly especially was incredible! Service was fast and friendly - we'd definitely recommend a visit. Hoping to come back next time we're in Leeds.

Loved the food, the service was genuine and friendly. Would 100% recommend.

Me and my partner were both very impressed by the place. Food was delicious and the atmosphere is so welcoming and pleasant. There was a clear issue with our ResDiary booking but the staff were so friendly and accommodating despite the added stress. Much love x

I was away for business and was looking for a non branded restaurant with good quality food. With lots of choice in Leeds this one took my eye on trip advisor. The restaurant was in a basement decorated beautifully inside, it had a cosy ambience inside. For a Monday the restaurant was pretty busy with two people serving. As the dishes were tapas it was recommended to have 2-3 dishes each. We went for the beef Penang curry which was rich in flavour with a thick sauce. Broccoli in soy garlic and chilli. Prawns and a chicken rice dish. Everything was hot and had some great Thai flavours. We did also have prawn crackers but didn’t manage to eat these it was a step too far we found that 2 dishes each was perfect! Service was prompt and friendly. A great find and I would definitely recommend!

AMAZING food. Very friendly staff. Particularly enjoyed the the Krapow Moo Grob ( Crispy pork belly) but every dish we had was very nice!

This is the best restaurant in Leeds. The food is unbelievably amazing and the restaurant is really atmospheric. You'd never imagine from the exterior as to what lies down the steps to the premises. They will Thai tapas / small plates, ingenious really aa you get to eat lots of delicious foods for your meal. I forgot to take photos when there on Friday night which is a shame but trust me when I say this is the BEST place in town

It's probably the best tapas thai in Leeds. Plates are small, but enough if you want to sample quite a few different tastes and not get full up on one big dish, service is always excellent, nice and cosy for two, but also cater for bigger parties, get yourself there if you want to sample delicious food 😀

Disappointing! We went last week and got food poisoning. Such a shame, it’s a nice place and the staff were friendly. Food was such a let down - avoid.

Disappointing experience. Very small portions they are snack size on very small plates at a average full size meal price! For instance We chose the Seabass for one of our dishes, this was served as four small bite sized pieces on large lettuce leaves obviously in a attempt to make the plate look full! Cramped sitting too many tables for space available elbows kept rubbing with the next person sat at the table. Felt I was sitting in a railway carriage diner! Only redeaming feature here was the cherry blossom type artifical trees which did look nice. Staff average did not earn any tips as not exceptional service. Drinks menu was limited with no warm beverages available on the day we visited, this was in spite of me seeing these offered on a previously posted on line menu! The Prawns were served still in their shells which I thought was laziness on the part of the kitchen staff. Most similar restaurants would shell them before serving. This I have seen in previous reviews the proprietors do not seem to have taken on board their patrons comments, therefore the capacity to improve is nil. I would not eat here again and cannot recommend this Restaurant. Other Thai Restaurants that I have visited in Leeds Elsewhere in the UK Europe and Thailand itself have all been better. Left still feeling hungry.

Had a lovely meal here last night. Every dish was fresh and delicious and service was great. The Shiraz we chose was just the right temperature and very reasonably priced. We will definitely return.

Another hidden gem,local to the metropol hotel down a few stairs and what a lovely restaurant tastefully decorated and the staff were very friendly and helpful with menu choices.we had two tapas each,noodles and a portion of prawn crackers, we were pleasantly full when we left. Would definitely recommend this little gem and there’s plenty of tables and seating for large groups.

Really lovely food, well priced & quick service. We visited here as a large booking for my friends birthday & the experience was lovely. As someone who loves lots of variety in a meal the small dishes work perfectly for trying lots with little waste left over. Definitely going to come back again soon!

Booked and went for lunch , had good experiences previously, but this time service good, really friendly but my food not great really. Thai Chicken Curry was okay. Prawns were awful, one or two raw and bit into one that was cold. Rice was average. Dont fall for the prawn crackers, charged £5. Won't bother returning, save your time and money.

Gorgeous romantic little restaurant. Lovely ambience and decoration. Great quick service and fantastic food. We ordered about 6/7 dishes between 2 of us. The shredded beef was the only one that was a bit meh, the rest were yummy!!!! Highly recommend the squid it was the best. Will definitely return

Entrance can seem abit strange but trust me it’s a hidden gem. So much choice for food and the quality is out of this world. Service was quick and friendly. The cocktails were pretty good too. All in all very reasonable and very tasty.

Horrible. Booked in advance and was stuffed into a dark corner next to the only other table with guests. Asked to sit elsewhere but was told no. Mediocre food to say the least. A horrible experience not worth the money.

Food was superb, especially the crispy squid and pork dishes possibly the best Thai meal I've had in Leeds. Service was excellent. It was lunch time and very quiet.

The restaurant is down some stairs so it felt like we were entering a secret underground club which was fun. The place was artfully decorated with cherry blossom trees. We went on a Monday evening and we knew it must be good as it was busy and Thai people were eating there too. The tapas style is a good idea as you can try a few dishes which were all delicious. My student son loved it and is going to put it on his 'first date list'. I also recommended the restaurant to a work colleague and he rated it highly too.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! Stunning decor and atmosphere, the food was the best Thai we have ever had. We went on Saturday 14th October for a birthday celebration and everyone had a great time and found ever dish we had to be delicious. The service was impeccable, very attentive waiters, very patient, and polite. Thank you very much, we will be back 😀

We love tapas style dining because you can try a variety of dishes. There were plenty of veggie options, we chose 4 dishes plus one steamed rice. The food was really tasty and just the right amount for us although those with large appetites may need more dishes. We had a glass of wine each and the bill was £58 including service charge. The service was good. Don’t be put off by the entrance down some stairs, once inside it is quite cosy.

The food was good and liked the idea of tapas. Smaller dishes meant we could try more. The service was a bit lack luster. Need to go up and ask for glasses for beer and for water. Hard to get the attention of staff though more than enough of them. Would recommend trying it though for that taste and variety of food.

Where do I start - everything about this place was fantastic. The staff, the service, the food. We eat out a lot, and this place is definitely up there as one of, if not THE best place we've ever been!!!!

I came here with work colleagues a few weeks ago after wanting to come for a long time and felt very disappointed. Upon arrival they couldn’t find our reservation, I did provide email booking confirmation but they kept insisting that there was no table for us (despite only one table being filled at the time). I did ask if they could find us a table and the lady serving made it seem like it was quite a big ask and to be honest was really quite rude to us, however we did end up being sat. We had come out for my colleagues leaving meal, otherwise at this point we probably would have left it and went somewhere else. The food was really disappointing, very overpriced for what we got and one of the dishes wasn’t nice at all and ended up uneaten. As soon as the dishes from our mains were collected we were asked to leave for our table back (once again the restaurant was mostly empty). We had hoped to get some drinks as we hadn’t been sat for even an hour, however this clearly wasn’t an option. The restaurant itself is very pretty, however the overall experience for what we paid was truly not good enough. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but I was so shocked when I saw the vast array of positive reviews online, and I don’t want anybody else to waste their money and leave an expensive dinner hungry and feeling quite down after the attitude from staff. (I also ended up having to get a take away from my Thai down the road due to still being hungry!)

Where can I start the rice was burnt the beef was burnt and had no taste but pure grease then we ordered two fish dishes one was ment to be sea bass was cod the prawns was cold but added into a warm soup then the chicken wings was pure batter with no taste what so ever and Luke walm I complained and they said they can half the bill I wasn't happy so I'm writing a review so that no one else ends up the position I was in there are 100% better Thai places in leeds this place is microwaving low end food and nothing is freshly made just be aware it's sad to see that people still think they can convince people with this level of food ....1/10 for the prawn crackers and the bottled beer

Amazing concept. Never seen or even heard of a Thai tapas before but I'm glad we tried it. Each dish was of the highest quality. Absolutely stuffed at the end of it and the food was amazing. I booked the table for a Saturday evening at peak time based upon seeing the overwhelming positive feedback online. The atmosphere was great and the Saturday in question was my birthday and I specifically requested to visit a top-end establishment. I had high expectations. Upon arrival we were sat at a good table and ordered drinks in good time. After a time of reading through the menu, we then placed our order with the waitress who was really attentive. We ordered tempura prawns as part of our starters, and we also ordered pork belly for one of the main course elements. Unfortunately, the tempura prawns still had the shells on them under the tempura layer, which was not only inedible but also a head-scratching mistake by the chefs in the kitchen. Never before have I been served tempura prawns with shells still on the prawns! One of the main courses we ordered (mentioned previously) was the belly pork. This too was another letdown, as the skin from the belly pork was raw and essentially felt like eating a football boot. The chefs had not even cooked it so the skin was in any way edible, instead it was an unpleasant chewing experience and this ruined the dish completely. Surely a chef knows that if you are going to keep the rind on the pork belly to at least make it edible (crackling or rendered down). This was not cooked to a professional/expected standard from a highly rated establishment. After eating both the starters and the main courses we complained to the front of house member about the issues that we encountered during both courses. Both the shells still on the prawns and the inedible skin on the belly pork led us to speak to the (supposed) "manager" of the restaurant that evening, which was met with very standoffish and confrontational behaviour from the person that we were told was in charge. Upon our complaint, the person in charge had to ring someone on the phone who was supposed to be able to override a refund in any way. Why would you leave someone in charge on a Saturday night that was not able to process a complaint let alone a refund for inexcusable errors made by the kitchen?! After much deliberation and a frankly argumentative approach from the "manager", we were able to negotiate down with the person on the phone to not pay for the dishes we were dissatisfied with. The basic food mistakes. The terrible 'finger-pointing' attitude of the front of house "manager". Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I cannot ever see myself coming back to this restaurant based upon our experience, let alone recommend anyone to go there.

I’ve been twice for lunch and will 100% continue going. It’s a bit tucked away, I never would’ve heard of it if a friend didn’t take me there so it’s like a hidden gem! The food is amazing and I love the tapas style small dishes as you get to experience more. Never had an issue with service they’ve always been lovely and quick. Should definitely go!

Not often I award 5 stars but on this occasion it is definately fitting. Food and service were amazing each dish tasted so flavoursome and with the added bonus of them being small tapas sized plates, what's not to like! We will definately be visiting again and recommending to friends 😊

Great little place. Slightly tucked out of the way but that seems to be par for the course in a medieval city! We ate upstairs and enjoyed a selection of little plates. They even took my boyfriend seriously when he asked for properly spicy! Really nice to try different things without committing to a big meal/plate. Lots of different levels to negotiate.

Fabulous find in Leeds city centre, loved the authentic feel of the restaurant and that as it was tapas style you could try lots of different dishes. We tried meat dishes, fish, shellfish, noodles, rice - all delicious. Great service and reasonably priced

We had lunch here for the first time on a Saturday in April 2023. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and authentic. We ordered six tapas dishes between 2 of us with a side of rice and prawn crackers. We immediately returned one of the dishes as the meat could have been better. The other dishes were fine but only average compared to other Thai restaurants in Leeds and the surrounding areas we have been to. In terms of value for money, I would give this 2 out of 5; most dishes range between £8 and £10, with the portion size below what I expected. Service was ok, 3 out of 5. Once our food was served, we saw the serving staff again 15 minutes after we had finished our meal; not the best, but not the worst. They do charge a 10% service charge, so you know. We would not return based on our experience.

Amazing selection of food, all came out quickly and was fresh and tasty. They also do an excellent mocha espresso martini!

Tiny basement restaurant, nicely decorated. Good food but some of it was far too spicy so ruined it a bit.

Not cheap especially when considering portion size. However once you start eating, OMG it is delicious. We loved it, so tasty and the tastes pop and then linger in your mouth afterwards!

I'd heard good things but, ultimately, was left feeling disappointed. The meat in most of the dishes was grisly and, even though it's a tapas place, the dishes were really pretty small.

Great tasting food and good service, even for tapas size portions this is too small, with the recent increase in price, it's not worth it, very poor value for money. I've eaten there a total of 5 times but the recent price rise has put me off, it also seems the portion size was less.

Just had a baby portion of tom kha soup and tiny little portion of pad thai. They served "soup" and "main" in the same time. There was 3 people in the restaurant so busy can't be excuse. I never seen such a tiny portion of sticky rice served in the plastic bag in my entire life ! I am in the m&s buying some bread coz I am still hungry and writing this review. Food wasn't so bad but aubergine tasted like a week old and then frozen. The staff is the reason for 2 stars they were smiling and nice. Asking £25 it's rip off and I will be definitely not coming back.

A unique food experience with high-quality food.

Very disappointed. Had heard great things: “it’s so good, you have to book”. Called and requested a table for 8:20. Was advised kitchen closes at 9 so, we booked for 8 and rushed our drinks to be there on time. Lovely decor, reasonable prices and most of the food was very good but, some beef was over cooked, as was chicken. We were the last diners there (only 4 other customers that night. At 20:45 we were asked if we’d like the desert menu, we said yes, only for the waitress to come tell us the kitchen was closed. We were last customers and closing early is a pet peeve of mine. Shame.

We had a really nice evening here. Service was friendly and food was delicious. Server suggested 2-3 small plates per person, We went for 3 small plates to share with 2 rice portions and then got 2 desserts afterwards as we have a sweet tooth & that was plenty for us! Would definitely recommend and go back again.

This was our second time dining at Phranakhon and we thoroughly enjoyed it once again. There were 3 of us and we chose three dishes each from the tapas menu veering towards fish and veggie dishes. It was a great dining/sharing experience with pleasant service....
