Went to watch France V Ireland in the Rugby with friends and family. Got there early to secure a table and seat . Price of a pint of Guinness was £6:50. Not cheap but probably just above the average for central London. Just before the game started the price changed to £6:70! The place was rammed and no need to put prices up as they were selling plenty of beer anyway, pure greed. I’m sure there is a pricing list somewhere stating prices will vary but I didn’t see it. One positive was the table service, wasn’t difficult to get a drink even though the place was rammed.

vast selection of drinks, many TV screens, amicable service. Its a great bar with lots of seating outside, on a sunny day its a perfect spot for a beer.

Huge cockroach on the bar. Plus the venue stank. We walked straight out. So there isn't really much more to say.

Fantastic pub! Went for full Irish breakfast (x6) and stayed to watch the football. Service excellent, Guinness like Temple Bar and fantastic atmosphere! Friendly staff too - highly recommended!

Philomena's Irish Sports Bar & Kitchen in Covent Garden allegedly an Irish Bar, the hint is in the name They had the Everton game on and would not change to the 6 Nations Rugby game, Wales v Ireland until the football was over. Three Tv s showing the Everton game all 3 within less than 5 metres of each other and they refused to change to the rugby. So we missed the first 10 minutes of the Irish game. Please save me from the excuses, staff could not be bothered to sort it out, could have simply organised it so we could have enjoyed a competition that comes once a year but no, couple with the fact that they played music most of the time it’s says it’s a sports bar , it advertises the 6 Nations , its an Irish Bar so show the Irish match Show the sports that it advertises including the build up up and the half time analysis, people have travelled some a long way to enjoy the game with fellow supporters. Please no excuses and say the match was on 2 or 3 otherTVs The right hand side needs TVs too. Customers who wanted to watch the Everton game, tell them its only showing on one TV all others will show the rugby match , not that difficult or avoid the whole debate and don't show other sports until after the Irish game If the English game was on at the same time wondered what would have happened ? Do you think Irish supporters would have objected , dont think so. Simply inform everyone that the match is on at the scheduled time so any other sports take 2nd priority. So I would strongly recommend to give the ‘Irish Sports’ bar a width berth and head either across the road, big pub showing rugby or the Alexander in Clapham. Blue Posts bar Rupert St. Need to find another Irish Bar who show their respect to the fans and not their pockets. Don’t waste your money everyone works hard for their £s on a bar that doesn’t care or deliver on its promise.

Came here to watch the cricket and have a breakfast, the breakfasts were top notch, quality products, hot and well cooked - what more could you ask for

called in after show the four of us, we all had a beer sat out side and decided to have a night cap. 3 JD's and 1 Bacardi 2 bottles of coke. the bar man filled glasses up full of ice without asking and from a near empty bottle of Jack gave us 3 measures and 1 Bacardi as he was doing the Bacardi I tried the Jack and it was watered down a lot. he started to put soda in the Bacardi until I stopped him and he changed it, as he got the 2 bottles of coke I tried the Bacardi and that was rubbish too, not wanting to have a confrontation as we were on a theatre break of 1 night I paid the 27 quid and will never be back. trading standards should have a look at this place

Stopped here on Friday night for drinks pre theatre, it is literally just round the corner from the Gillian Lynne theatre and a short walk from Covent Garden and much cheaper than other bars in the area. Nothing fancy about this place but bar service was excellent and they even take your orders from the tables outside which saved going to and from the bar. Overall lovely pub .

This place has patrons outside drinking and yelling loudly enough to disrupt any attempts to sleep. The noise continues well after closing time. Between 2:30-3:00 a.m. last Sunday morning there were 4 police vehicles moving the last of the drunks along. It’s a Thursday night now and 20 minutes after closing the noise is still going strong. Can’t wait for this weekend. The place must be over-serving and definitely is unconcerned about impact on surrounding buildings.

First time visiting Philomenas, went 12/2/22, busy pub showing six nations rugby.....Nice pub with a good vibe, staff very efficient however the Guinness was the star, it was fab.......I'm a regular Guinness drinker and will travel for a good pint.....I will be back to Philomenas.......

Popped in for something to eat. The staff were lovely and the Sunday roast was the best I've had. My husband had the "Belfast breakfast" by far the best we've had since arriving in London. Do yourself a favour a drop in Thanks guys

Brief visit initially to watch F1. Ridiculous drinks prices, wonder if hitched up. Irritable long black haired member of staff when I was taking the decision of which beer to order. She did offer a taster though. Also rude, could not offer even a thank you. Not appreciated especially when paying stupid price. Hence a quick exit to somewhere more appreciated.

It is absolutely pointless to advertise that a pub shows all the Irish games but yet does not turn the music off or the game commentary on Didn't have time to get to another pub. Bit like going to a knocking shop for a hug.

Visited the bar to watch the formula one none of the tvs was on so we asked the waitress to show the f1 race as advertised , straight away she told us no. In the end more people arrived to watch the race and asked...

Went thete and was made to wait 10 mins just tp get one drink. They kept serving other customers that just came in. Wen i did want service the bar maid shouts am busy. If ypu cant handle catering dont work in catering i myself...

Nice bar nice staff london grime music wasn't to r taste when requesting irish music in an irish bar was told twice we dont play it. So basically its not an irish bar so in are opinion we will certainly not be back

Stopped in for a couple of Belfast Breakfasts and weren't disappointed. The plates were overflowing and every item was delicious. Particularly enjoyed the warm soda bread. It's just 5 mins walk from Covent Garden and you get a lot more food for a lot less...

Unplanned stop after our journey to London we was promptly seated and served all afternoon by 3 superb members of staff - food was very tasty and big portions . It’s a lovely location to sit, relax and people watch - we will be back

Great bar, great food and excellent staff. Spent a Sunday afternoon here having lunch, watching the Grand Prix and having a few drinks. Excellent bar, will defo return on my next visit to London. Sunday roast was excellent!

Quite an odd shaped pub with a narrow bar room with some tables and chairs leading to another room with tables and chairs at the back of the bar area. We ate here as a family at lunchtime. Great menu of well prepared food. My favourite was the pastrami baguette which came with a dressed salad as I'm not keen on french fries. Very tasty and a good filler for £7.50.Good selection of beers including draught ales though not as cheap as some other local pubs. Helpful and attentive serving staff.Definitely worth a visit for a lunchtime snack.

I was in tonight and an obnoxious group stood in front of the screen - where nobody else could see the screen. The manager refused to do anything about it even though they had plenty of room to move and ruined the night for everyone.Amateurish. Go somewhere else

6 of us popped in here for breakfast. We were the only customers but the service was slow and the waitress, who didn’t write anything down, got the order wrong. I had eggs Benedict and it’s the worst I have ever tasted. I wasn’t sure if the eggs were swimming in water or just not cooked properly but as I cut into the first one there was so much liquid that it meant the muffin became soggy and inedible. I’m sure it’s great for a drink but I wouldn’t eat there again.

Good selection of beers, good service even when it’s busy. Good location with outside space, doesn’t get to touristy.

Came to Philomena's to watch the all Ireland Final and decided to have lunch while we were there. It was a decent pub lunch fairly generous portions and reasonably priced for a bar so close to Covent Garden. Unfortunately the place was packed as they were also showing premier league football. However the crowds did not spoil the place in fact they added to the atmosphere, which, i have to say, was really friendly. I was surprised by how good the service was despite the crowds, it was fast and above all friendly. The food was decent enough not the absolute best but still of a good enough quality. I will come here again for food just not on a day when so much sport is on. Aside from the food there is a good selection of beer etc and their Guinness while ok to look at is not quite the best, pity. Still they have other beers and drinks and while they may seem pricey don't forget this place on the edge of Covent Garden so it's not surprising. Well worth a visit.

We had a very satisfying visit for an after theater meal. Prompt service, good food, and cold beer -- what more can you ask. My son had the double burger, absolutely the largest sandwich I've ever seen.

Nice bar in a tourist location. Prices are as youd expect. Bar service is quite quick considering its a busy bar.

Often very busy but always a friendly reception, a good pint and good food makes Philomena's my place to go especially when visiting Freemason’s Hall opposite. Because the food in the Grand Connaught Rooms varies between acceptable and very poor, I prefer Philomena’s.

Superbly looked after by great staff, friendly and helpful. Excellent menu, varied and not a single complaint from any of our group. Guinness is the best!

We have visited Philomena's on most visits to London and are never disappointed. Really great atmosphere and great music. Took friends on this visit who really enjoyed themselves.

Looking for somewhere to eat lunch, and someone recommended Philomena’s Irish Pub. Staff were pleasant and the food was reasonably good. Prices are high for the food quality and the standard of the premises. I don’t know if they decided to make the place look rough and distressed, but if they did, they succeeded! The place is a dump. The worst furniture I have seen in a bar or restaurant anywhere. The seats are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever used. So if you want a decent meal, at a slightly too high price, in crappy uncomfortable surroundings, this is the place. But my partner and myself will not return.

Had lunch here a couple of days ago. The Hunters chicken with salad and fries was acceptable, unfortunately the table where we were sat was like an old school class room table and very uncomfortable. Next time we will make sure we get a better table.

Big, lots of big meat, potato bread and fills you till dinner! Everything you could ask for in a full Irish breakfast. The black pudding and sausage which are crucial to the breakfasts integrity are flawless!

Estábamos en el centro de Londres habiéndonos quedado de un concierto la noche anterior en Wembley. Queríamos ver el fútbol y nos dijeron que el bar de Philomena lo tendría. Nos acomodamos en una mesa con bebidas a precios razonables y excelentes bagels de desayuno. El personal y los clientes eran amables, lo que hizo un muy buen ambiente. Mi título lo dice todo, simplemente fantástico. Sin duda volveremos.

Well, perhaps not really hidden, but we came across this place completely by accident, because on a really busy Wednesday evening we couldn't get in to where we had intended to go for food, and so ended up here - glad we did! Yes it was absolutely heaving, we ended up by the toilets, but we were pleased just to have a seat - and then we ordered - the fish and chips were to die for - superb! And the service was also excellent too!

Visited with some mates on a Saturday night (mainly interested in football matches) and didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere and great staff. Had some beers and watch some games, had a great night overall. We'll be back soon.

Go to Philomena's for a welcoming environment, fast service, and a great drink variety, more than other pubs. Their food menu offers great selection as well; not something you get at many Irish pubs!

Very traditional Irish feel to this pub. Relaxed atmosphere when I dropped in. I didn’t eat but the food that was being served looked great. Definitely worth a visit for a pint and a bite to eat.

Abbiamo fatto tre giri di birra della migliore weißen ( 7 gradi di birra ) che avevano e ci siamo ubriacati in fretta ahaha nonostante il costo della birra (7 sterline l’una) , personale gentile e simpatico ! Staff are so rude!! They were abusive to my girlfriend for ordering a lemonade and would rather turn the TVs off than show a non England/Ireland rugby game. What sort of sports bar does that?? Awful experience. Never going back

It's a popular sporting venue,so consequently when a big event is on,like an England rugby international,you've got little or no chance of a seat. It becomes hot and noisy, thus,unless it's the game you're after,I wouldn't bother.

Average pub. Limited choice of Irish food so would not really qualify it as an Irish pub. Nice and friendly staff.

We stopped here for lunch and had their steak in ciabatta sandwiches. They were excellent, and came with chips and a small salad. Very tasty, nicely cooked, and all done very quickly. Will certainly go here again, when I am next in the area.

This is, genuinely, a friendly and welcoming pub. Table service and fab food. My new favourite place to watch sport. Highly recommended!

Called in mid afternoon for a pint of Guinness and were pleased to find a really nice bar with super friendly staff. Decided to eat so I had Tapas and my husband had an Irish mixed grill. Both were served in good time, beautifully cooked and very fresh. Lovely staff were very attentive and helpful. Would go again and certainly recommend.

Yo estaba buscando algo para ver el partido de los Rangers que era patear en 4:55 pm antes de ir a un evento de la NFL. Llamado por diferentes bares para preguntar si tenían Deportivo y podría mostrar el juego, me dijeron que sí. Cuando llegué al pub, hablé con el mismo camarero y me dieron diferentes opciones donde poner el juego. Un gran servicio al cliente.

Little sports pub with about a dozen televisions scattered around. It’s not a large space, so on nice days much of the drinking spills out on to Great Queen Street.

Great place, close to Grand Lodge, has character, drinks are London priced & expensive. Had a pint of real ale here - cost £4.95 per pint, one can get 2 pints for the same price in Lancashire

Cuando llegamos estaban intentando solucionar un espacio para una encantadora pareja india para ver el críquet, una pantalla de televisión para un grupo de chicas jóvenes irlandeses para ver la excursión y luego una televisión y una mesa para ver el Grand Prix. Que continúan apareciendo más que ofrecer para conseguir una bebida, muy habladores y amable. La otra cosa es que este pub es tan limpio! Mientras estábamos allí alguien estaba cambiando cada pedazo de muebles, adornos, atrás de TV's, teniendo mucho orgullo. La noche anterior había estado increíblemente ocupado por el fútbol, así que asegúrate de que están aquí si quieres ver la copa del mundo!

Cortado de esta tarde para el almuerzo tarde ya que estaban matando el tiempo de espera para el tren de casa, personal encantador y amable, la comida era muy sabrosa, caliente y muy buena relación calidad-precio (no necesitamos una segunda hipoteca para almorzar! Jamón y huevos), Chicken Ciabatta, un refresco y una pinta por menos de 25 libras, ¿qué más se puede pedir!

Cada vez que he estado aquí el lugar está lleno de toques irlandeses. Si estás buscando un lugar para ver deportes en la televisión irlandesa, este es el lugar para venir. La Guinness es buena y la comida también es buena. Porciones grandes. Normalmente lleno cuando mostrando rugby, fútbol o GAA así que llegue temprano si quieres un buen asiento!

It's not overpriced, it has a great atmosphere, staff are friendly and helpful. What more do you need? Great place for a pint or G&T; when wandering around London.

I use this place once or twice a year, mainly for drinks - it is usually very busy and spills out onto the street outside. Yesterday I went in earlier than usual, it was quite busy but only one member of staff serving and several customers had ordered coffee which takes longer. Despite the queues I'd still go back, largely because of its location.

...with attentive staff and good attitude. Fine selection of beers and lagers AND very good coffee bar!

The staff here try to be as efficient as quick as they can. They DO struggle at times during big football games (particularly ones involving Liverpool/Man United and a london team) however, you can tell that they are trying their best with 8 or 9 members of staff at your beck and call. Also their Irish Breakfasts are great value for money

A group of us arrived in London and needed breakfast. There were 10 of us in our group and the service was brilliant. The food was hot and tasty and the staff were very welcoming.

This bar is my regular, not only as its local but because all the guys and girls that work there are so lovely. They are always very attentive and friendly. The drinks are perfect ( They know exactly what I want I dont even have to ask for it!) And the fopd menu is a nice little menu, decent prices and tasty.

This is a great Irish pub in Covent Garden. The food is great amd Guinness on tap os good. Its a great pub for warching sport. Staff are friendly and helpful too.

Popped into this Irish bar to watch the Champions League and it had plenty of room to watch the screens. They also catered for all supporters and the atmosphere was friendly.They serve a decent pint and Howling Hops too.

Went to this bar last night. Very busy but great atmosphere. Luckily got a seat and watched the world go by. Didn't try the food. .....maybe next time. Recommended

Went in to watch the hurling on Sunday and when we got in we would could see that most of the people in the pub were there to watch the hurling but there was no screen on.Asked the barmaid if the game would be on and she was a bit rude and sarcastic about the fact that she would have to actually turn on a hurling game. So because of this, despite arriving 30 minutes early, we did not get to see any of the build up to the game. Just a blank screen until 1 minute before the game began.The general disdain towards the game of hurling continued after that with bad comments during every interaction and then the screen/sound being turned off during the half-time analysis. When the game was over, it was then turned off straight away again. Now, I'm not expecting the staff to be hurling experts but 90% of the people in the pub that day were there for the hurling so you would expect a tiny bit of respect at least for the national game, as it is an Irish bar at the end of the day.Couldn't recommend this place to watch a hurling game and I won't be going back to watch one there again.

Great for summer evenings as there is an outdoor space. Good selection of beers and a great ambience.

Been going to this place for years. It used to be an O'Neills until the guy went out on his own and renamed it. Since then it's been refurbed a couple of times and its a great place for a beer or seven, with good solid pub food as well. It can get very busy at after work times so if you're after a quiet drink maybe avoid it post 5pm on a weekday...
