Visited with my husband on a Saturday lunchtime, the pub itself is lovely with a log burner and it's dog friendly. The staff were polite and helpful. The food is good quality however its also a bit on the pricey side. As this was a special occasion that wasn't the problem, I just don't expect to pay nearly £80 for lunch and feel hungry still. The portions are far too small - even offering a side of potatoes/vegetables as standard would have been better (instead of charging £4 per side).

It was our first visit to the Pheasant, and is somewhere we’ve always wanted to try. We went there for Sunday lunch and found it to be a very pleasant experience overall. The pub is everything you expect from a traditional countryside pub, and the service and food are of a good standard. The only negative was the cost, which was £16.50 for one course, which means that we wouldn’t eat there on a regular basis because there are other places in the area that are much more affordable. Having said which, we would eat there again because it was nice overall.

Amazing food the beef was tender veg was cooked to perfection will be back every Sunday. Easily the best Sunday lunch ever.

Went with a group of friends and ordered a fish dish with Pak choy in a sauce for £19. I presumed it would come with some kind of potatoes or chips but it was literally a piece of fish and one bit of vegetable. To be fair the menu didn't state it came with anything so I wish I had have had the steak for £1 extra which came with chips and would have left me full. It just felt a bit of a rip off to me to ask someone to pay an extra £4 for a potato based side when you are already charging above average for the main course. The waiter didn't make it clear it didn't come with a side so it looked like a starter on my plate and I was really hungry after it.

Lovely interior, particularly with the log fire going on a late Autumn afternoon. Tasteful rustic decor, friendly service. The food arrived quickly and was very appealing - it was filling and two extra vegetarian options were offered aside from the menus choices. A really nice experience for a family get together. Excellent service from attentive friendly staff. The food was delicious - panko coated squid with aioli was amazing, great quality rump steak with great flavour and utterly delicious Cornish cod in light curry sauce. Amazing. Great local beer and local gin too. Can’t rave highly enough about this little gem. Oh and quiet too, comfy bed and nice en-suite room with good quality linen.

We were on a short break in the area, and chose The Pheasant for Sunday lunch on the strength of its Tripadvisor reviews. We had a super meal, accompanied by our dog, with great service and value for money. We would recommend unreservedly. Thank you to all staff concerned.

£18 pp for 2 small slices of turkey, 2 roast potatoes , spoonful of suede & peas. Asked for extra gravy as minimal on the serving platter for 3 people. When the bill came we had been charged £3.50 for the extra gravy.

Arrived today 24/11 to a fantastic smile and enthusiasm by Andy. Had booked the pheasant for my birthday celebration as its not far from home and having searched extensively for a local hotel with exceptional food we decided on here. And I can say its lived up to my expectations. Warm welcome, great food menu and lovely hotel rooms. Only reason I have given a 4 is the noise from downstairs whilst in the hotel room. Its now 12.52 and can clearly hear the conversation of people talking. Only complaint I can mention. Otherwise it would of been a 5. Yes we will be back but only for the food and drink. We'll done keep it up.

We had a lovely, relaxed lunch at the Pheasant. The menu choice was amazing. We opted for a main course and dessert. I had cod fillets with curry sauce, chickpeas and cauliflower and my husband had locally sourced rump steak. Both were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. This was followed by chocolate fondant for me and apple and blackberry pie for my husband. Again, faultless and delicious. The welcome, the service and the food all made for an excellent experience, as always.

The menu is imaginative, interesting and supports local suppliers. The service was good. The venue is relaxed.

From the ease of booking ,attentive confirmation and a warm welcome . I felt it was going to be a good night. My family and I all had one problem too many delishious dishes on the menu and it was hard to chose. ,My wife had the Mackerel and Steak both dishes full of flavour, my son had squid and duck and was very happy with his food , my other son had Crab salad followed by Belly pork and thoroughly enjoyed both. I had 2 starters chicken livers and crispy chicken thigh followed by Chicken shnitzel all very very good Overall it was one of the nicest meals we have had in a long time - Thank you very much everyone at the Pheasant

The quality of the food and service was absolutely superb. We all ordered different meals and each one of us was blown away with the quality, presentation and taste of the meals we ordered. It wasn’t just pub grub it was outstanding food. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and attentive. We all had a superb lunch and will definitely be back.

Had the most delicious meal here. The menu is fantastic. One of those menu’s where you would like it all! We were a party of 6 adults & we all chose a different meal. Every single one was over & above utterly delicious. Good portion sizes. We would have loved a dessert but were all too full. The service was spot on. Would highly recommended this restaurant.

We’d read lots of favourable reviews, but we remained open-minded. Then came the food! The spiced cauliflower soup with home made focaccia was remarkable. We both had a Sunday roast, which came as a sharing platter. A generous portion of perfectly-cooked belly pork came with tasty vegetables, red wine jus you felt you could drink by the pint, and Yorkshire puddings that deserve to win medallions. We were both too full to tackle the puddings, so we’re just going to have to return.

What a wonderful place for Sunday lunch. Originally looked at the Pheasant as a place to stay when visiting the area but unfortunately they were full. Decided to go for lunch anyway and am glad we did. Everything from the welcome, dealing with food allergy and service was perfect. The portions were generous and very good value for money. I have people visiting me in Derbyshire over next couple of weeks and wish there was somewhere like this nearby. Well done to whoever runs this place as they have built an amazing team. Will certainly return when in the area and would thoroughly recommend.
