Food is good, not the most amazing Chinese takeaway but still better than most. Is a good comfort food

Was over this side of Basingstoke and it was on the way home so we thought we'd give this place a go. So glad we did! Generous portion size of chips such that a single small portion was sufficient for two people. Fish was fresh and had a great taste and not too greasy. I initially thought the batter looked overdone as it was quite dark but it was crisp and perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend this place based on the cod and chips alone. Reasonably priced, great friendly service. There was a slight wait due to how busy the place was, but that's a good thing. They must be doing something right if it's that popular and to be honest, it was well with the wait. Despite a 5 minute drive home, the food was well wrapped and still piping hot. If you're local, give this place a go. You won't be disappointed!

Food always good and a good menu

The fish & chips at this shop are no where near as good as they used to be. Very disappointing . Will not buy cod & chips from there again , they served me what I now know was a frozen white fish fillet. Very unpleasant.

Every single week I go get fish and chips I always ask for extra salt and vinegar and they are very stingy with salt and vinegar its like they just touch it with salt and vinegar I've even said to pay extra but always having problems with service I hate to write this as the food is good

Took a bunch of Cadets out for a special treat, ordered for 7, scampi, sausage, fish, all with chips. Order turn around was super quick, food tasted great!

Website said open 10am till 2pm but got there and it was closed.

The Chips are always Full of flavour, Fresh and they are not greasy. The Staff was Polite & Friendly.

Found this place by accident when looking for a pharmacy! 😃 We ordered the fish and chips, chicken and mushroom soup and the Singapore house special.. The portion for fish and chips is HUGE!! Most definitely a filling meal! The Chinese food was a hit and miss for me..

The food here is absolutely amazing both the fish and chips side and the Chinese. Very big portions and great value for money. Only downside is that they are cash only, but there is a shop next door with a free cash point. Parking can be limited as well

Fish and chips for the family. I walked in off the street and was served quickly. The food was freshly cooked to order and handed in over in no time at all. Delicious food, as always from the best little Chinese takeaway/fish and chip shop in the area.

They are always very lovely in here. Fast service even when their busy. I was 50p short once and they let me off to pay them the top up next time. Food quality is good and consistent but not there best you've had. CASH ONLY but there's a cash point like 10 metres Down past the shops.

Just moved here and saw he was open, went in and stood for 15 minutes (he was wrapping up a customers order) then i gave him mine to which he said im done cooking and not cooking anything more, its what i have left! With a massive attitude! Why didnt you tell me this when i walked in or just advise before asking my order that your closing soon (as said been stood for 15 minutes inside) and that it would only be what is in the cooked window. Will go somewhere else who wants me as a customer thanks!

Peters Fish Bar have a massive menu ranging from Sausages, Burgers, to Chinese food. All their food is of a High Standard and at a good Price. I Highly recommend Peters Fish Bar.

Used to love this place, but standards have dropped. Got food poisoning Christmas Eve from the pork and rice. Used to be my favourite Chinese takeaway but lost its charm and quality.

We were looking for fish snd chips locally and found Peter’s. We had a range on the menu to please adults and teens including fish snd chips, saveloy, battered sausage and battered burgers. Really good value. Clean plates. Will be our regular fish snd chip shop now.

I only use this as a Chinese and its fantastic, the chips are good I can vouch for them. The Chinese is always good, hot, tasty and fresh. My advice is always phone ahead or be prepared to wait. I have never had a bad meal from here and we use it weekly.

The girls decided they wanted 'chip shop' chips for lunch, hadn't been to Peters for a very long time, got there at 12.15. Hardly anything ready or available. Asked if I want fish and said 1 cod, was told they only have large so accepted that. He then disappeared to get the cod. Prepared it and put it in the fryer. Then started tipping buckets of chips into the fryer? Ordered in addition to the cod, 2 savaloys, I jumbo sausage, I hamburger and 2 portions of chips. Got home, the large cod was very small and mostly batter, the savaloys were rock hard and the jumbo sausage w as anaemic and grey. The chips were also soggy and greasy. Most went in the bin. Absolutely awful. Was never like this when Peter and Wendy were there

Decent Chinese, good deal if you for the meal for one, but there is enough food for 2! So go for that if you want a fairly cheap meal for 2. Would have been nice to have a meal for 1 that was suitable for 1 person, i.e. reduce portion sizes and reduced price. The lady on the til had poor English, did not know what a plastic fork was (I was away on business so needed cutlery), but managed to work it out in the end.

Good food and good service. Far better than any of their nearby competitors. Five stars, highly recommended.

Pretty yummy Chinese/chips place. It is quite expensive however, I often find myself paying more here than for the same order elsewhere nearby. Cash only which is only mildly inconvenient as there is an ATM outside (sometimes not working though). Usually very friendly staff. A locals favourite no doubt. Very short food preparation times (chips take longest!) - can make you wonder about quality of the Chinese food but I've never had any issues.

Been going to peters for years and always been really happy with it. The last 2 times we’ve been there we’ve been given the wrong order. Rang them when we realised they had given us the wrong order and they kindly said bring it back but we live a while away so wasn’t practical. Looking for different Chinese takeaway.

Peters Chinese is always very good. We like their noodles and we normally have sweat & sour pork Hong Kong style. Phone ahead and order - ready when you get there. Staff are always friendly even if they are really busy.
