My mother and I arrived for lunch on Saturday. Firstly we were shown to a dirty table, rings from cups and salt or possibly sugar. As my mother has a walker and had taken her coat off and sat down I didn’t ask to be moved but cleaned the table myself with antibacterial wipes I always carry. We ordered drinks and food which you have to pay for upfront so no opportunity to refuse to pay. The drinks arrived, one of which was a bottle of water but no glass. I asked for a glass which the waiter came back with. The glass was dirty. I waited until the food arrived and asked for a clean glass. No apology was given for bringing me a dirty one. My mother had loaded fries at £11. Well I could see the crispy onions, crispy because they were those dried ones you buy in tubs in the supermarket, but no sign of any cheese. I started to eat my bacon, Brie and red onion chutney panini. Well I had bacon. I looked inside for the Brie. There was a sort of stain which was obviously the Brie. I’ve never managed to cut a slice of Brie that thin myself, I suspect they could see through it when they lifted it up. As for the chutney, I found a few soggy bits of tasteless brown stuff. I noticed my mother poking her chips about and asked her what she was doing, she said ‘looking for the cheese’. I asked if she’d found any and she said ‘not really’. She pushed the bowl away and said her legs were cold. We had been sat in front of the entrance and the draft was awful. I asked her if she wanted to go and she was out of her chair faster than I’ve seen someone of 88 move in a long time. All in all a most unpleasant lunch. £11 for a bowl of chips and dried onion, and £10.50 for a bacon roll. Very poor indeed.

Disappointed. Very expensive in my opinion. Ordered a ploughmans, £17, but the ham. Two teas but got a pot of tea for 2, £6. Bill said 2 teas. Asked to speak to the manager who took a good 10 mins to speak to us. Very standoffish, defensive. Seemed he blamed us for not letting them know the ham was missing. We said as soon as we realised we did, that's why you're here! Mentioned the tea and how pricey. His answer was you can ask for a free refill, but the waitress says not. No apologies. Ham arrived on a separate plate. Not recommended.

Beautiful garden displaying gorgeous roses. Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Prawn, mango and chilli salad....lots of very watery prawns..a tinned chopped mango and sadly iceberg ..going brown lettuce complete with the stub end of the plant. At £15 this was not good.and lacked any taste Individual quiche with a side of slaw and salad ..a bit of iceberg with one small segment of tomato £14 Such a shame as it could and should have been better...to match the garden and flowers . We would definately call in for the garden and to buy flowers, however, Sadly , we would not bother with any food again.

We’d spent some time in the rose gardens and decided to have a lunch before setting off for home. We ordered a light meal served with chips, the food was attractively presented but the chips were served covered with salt, not to our taste and actually spoilt our food overall. Why do this especially in this day and age when many people are trying to eat more healthily and cutting down on salt in their diet.

I visited because the nearby A11 diner was closed. The food is very expensive. Nearly at pub prices. The dish that we had looked like it had been reheated from frozen at there was a watery liquid in the dish. The mince beef looked similar to canned mince beef. Overall it was ok but I expected better for the price.

I like to take myself out for breakfast once a week, on my own. Just as a bit of self care. This is the best breakfast in Norfolk by a country mile. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and great ingredients. I just love having my solo breakfast here.

Lovely breakfast, lots of options to choose from. Staff very pleasant and efficient. No complaints at all. However this restaurant is part of Peter Beale's stunning nursery / garden centre (well worth a visit). Peter Beale is well known for producing award winning roses, so can you please remove the tacky plastic roses from the restaurant . Not a good look - especially the quantity.

Reading good reviews about breakfast I was looking forward to a treat. Boy, was I disappointed. Prices seem to have increased so looking at £11.50 for a full English from £9.50. Unfortunately standards have sunk as the prices have escalated. My wife had the mushrooms on toast as the only healthy breakfast available but the toast had been badly burnt on one side and the charcoal side turned face down to hide it with a measly spread of a mushroom sauce on top, not nice. The full English was little better with blond undercooked sausages, cheap ingredients, a stone cold ramekin of beans and toast without butter. Accompanied by two capuccinos that that tasted like warm milk with a chocolate sprinkle. Mentioned all this to the eldest lady behind the counter who looked in charge and received the usual look of horror when an English person has the temerity to complain. She blamed the Saturday girls who were training apparently. Final fob off was that next time we come back we should mention our complaint for a possible discount. She refused to give her name when I said this was an unnaceptable response - this is the true mark of the guilty. Shall not be going back ever again to test the discounted bad food offer as we both know readers, don't we? That this promise would be broken anyway.

We popped over to Peter Beales specifically for lunch, fatal, as we were bound to walk round their stunning garden and be tempted by their nursery plants! We chose a table on the patio with a shade umbrella and, noting the table number, headed in to the servery to place our drinks order and collect a menu. The drinks arrived promptly and we returned to the servery to order two paninis and one baked potato, all of which arrived, fresh and delicious, served by a charming waitress. A very pleasant lunch with a friend - oh, and just to mention, said friend had 'special requests' which were addressed without issue. The patio overlooks the nursery plant sales area with views of the wonderful gardens beyond and yesterday the roses were absolutely stunning (whether they were 'better' last week or will be 'better' next week, I really don't know - but they were stunning yesterday!) Couldn't have been nicer!

Beautiful setting with excellent staff, we had a business brunch planned which was booked incorrectly due to a glitch in the hotels system. The man looking after us (apologies for not knowing his name) discretely resolved this offering us a number of options, which included continuing with our booking in the mirror room and keeping the kitchen open for us despite breakfast service being finished. We never felt rushed and happily had coffee before moving over to the restaurant at Rosewood for lunch - booked by our mirror room waiter who also walked us over. Overall, a lovely morning and lunch.

Excellent, varied menu, much appreciated in these tough times! Well done Chef ;-) Was very busy when we visited and we can see why- lovely to be able to sit in the rose filled garden and have our lunch. Had a selection of food - salad and sandwiches to pasties and drinks all tasty and well presented. Want to return again for the Afternoon Tea! One things that stood out for us was the children’s menu- a really balanced box meal of sandwiches and snacks for just a couple of pounds. Excellent value and pleased both children and adults that they weren’t filled with the usual rubbish! Thank you.

Difficulty in finding the way into the hotel and as there was no-one obvious entrance or anyone to greet our taxi. Once inside also difficult to find the Mirror Room restaurant. Once in the restaurant no staff available to welcome us or receive our booking. Eventually after walking almost the length of the restaurant I found someone to assist. Lovely dining room with various mirrors around. Subdued atmosphere for a Thursday. Maybe more suited for a romantic couple. Food fabulous. I had the beef which melted in the mouth followed by the Elton Tidy which tasted superb. Wines also very good but for the price expected much better. Ladies toilets fabulous. Loved the design and amenities. Followed our dining experience with drinks in the Holborn bar. Lively, packed and buzzing bar. My friend and I almost wished we had eaten in here. Overall a great evening. Would we return? Maybe but the experience was let down by lack of suitable visual staffing.

Amazing how much Peter Beales restaurant has changed. Smart and clean with polite staff and a cosy atmosphere. I thought I would pop in for a Christmas lunch while in the area. I found a table (18) close to the end of the counter. Nice and warm on such a cold wintry day. Time 13:11 (Lunchtime) That's lucky as there was no one queuing (but also very strange on a lunchtime) So I ordered and paid for the Turkey, Christmas pudding and Earl Grey tea. Sat down and 20 minutes later the very nice waitress arrived with a cold plate of brown objects swimming in a sea of congealed brown liquid, with a china container of ? mixed vegetables. I thought i would try to work out what this brown mess was? I found some brow leather type bits, which I think was the Turkey? Some brown long things which looked like parsnips and some lumpy brown things welded to the plate? Potatoes. A rather worrying strange shaped brown thing which could have been stuffing, but smelt like poo. A pig in a blanket which after removing it from the brown sludge looked uncooked. The mixed vegetables were also cold and looked like they came from someone else's rejects. I decided to try to eat this stuff, but after a mouthful and wishing I could politely vomit it up. Left it. I did complain to the waitress, who informed me that people like the brown mess? Next was the bought in Christmas pudding and custard with some red currents on top. Very hot and almost made up for the other stuff, well almost.

I found this venue via an online search for a birthday lunch venue. The website's ease of use and location made me book a table. My experience from arrival to departure was lovely. It was my birthday as well as my friend who joined me. The food was delicious and just the right portion size, although I could have has a little more samphire with my salmon (but that is because I love it!). Our waiter, Jamie was attentive as my friend and I both received a small but delicious birthday cake each as he had overheard us mention it was our birthdays! A slick and appreciated touch :) The ambience was just right for conversation. I will certainly recommend this venue to friends and will come again for afternoon tea, perhaps!

Visited Saturday. Was looking forward to having a roast dinner as they have been lovely in the past with separate dishes of vegetables and plenty of it. This time, however, everything on plate together with Yorkshire stuck on top, hardly any gravy and mash hidden under meat. Asked for extra gravy, which the helpful staff provided, but this was like water with onions in. Very tasteless meal and very disappointing. Daughter had the chips and they were far inferior to previous visits also. The restaurant has been extended to provide more seating outside but due to the poor quality of the food now, most tables were unoccupied. In the past it has been a struggle to get a seat. Please consider a new chef ( I can only assume the usual chef had a day off) as the frontline staff are so friendly and helpful, the setting is lovely and the garden centre is a delight. I would think twice before eating a meal in here again.

Over the years we have always used the Sweet Briar Bistro and loved it! Table service, specials board, home cooked food and smiling staff. Finally made a visit yesterday to the revamped, extended and improved 'restaurant' Really sad to say we did not have a good experience at all - firstly the layout of the chairs and tables were difficult to navigate. It was a take a tray, order and pay, certainly not what I expect in a 'restaurant' the ambience was clinical, cold and gloomy. Sandwichs were just edible and the advertised skin on fries were cheap chips from Asda. Latte no sprinkles, long spoon or biscuit. Will never return - you have spoilt a great place and to be honest there are so many places doing a garden centre 'restaurant' so so much better!! So sad to see a self service cafe replace a great eating place

Located in a garden centre specialising in roses - with impressive & extensive gardens. The food however was somewhat of a let-down - rather basic old fashioned English home cooking of the variety that gave English cuisine a lacklustre reputation - to put it politely. Ended up with a gooey mess by the time I got to the till. Over all prices were over inflated for the fact it is just a self service coffee shop. I didn't like the low tables, which may be suitable for afternoon tea, but not really for lunch. It's a very elegant room, but it lacked atmosphere. The food and service was fine, but overall I think you're paying for the location. It didn't really represent good value for me and I'm not sure I'd go again.

Lovely meal for 7 for a birthday lunch much. Attentive staff and very good food. The steak was done perfectly. It is pricey but worth it for a treat. The flowers and decor are outstanding.

Very disappointing. The restaurant decor is amazing but it's slightly odd to have to perch on an oversize sofa for fine dining. Service was very friendly and helpful but staff seemed to be a bit short of training. Weirdly, when I asked for a sherry, it was served in a cut glass brandy glass and the serving was over-generous, not least as the fino sherry wasn't that good.
My wife enjoyed her vegetarian options but my seared mackerel starter was cooked right through and had unpleasant tasting accompaniments. My main course of sea bream tasted a bit old and that it had been hanging around on the plate in the kitchen for a while. The roast purple broccoli was cold. I could easily have produced better at home with little effort.
Really poor value for money on a birthday evening when we had hoped for something special

Beautiful room, I was there for s business dinner, excellent food and service. I would not recommend it for a business dinner, the ambiance is really more appropriate for a date. But I would come back for cocktails or a date dinner! One point, the chairs and tables are a little too low for dining, more like lounging.

Overall very good experience. Waited a little long for the breakfast to arrive and thought the presentation of the scrambled eggs in a bowl was a little odd.

Had a great pre Christmas dinner with some friends there. Good food and service, it was pretty quiet and relaxing.

The mirror room is a stunning venue and the service was absolutely impeccable. The set menu represented surprisingly good value and although we were always able to get attention when required, it also felt as if we had complete privacy. Looking forward to a return visit.

Service very poor. Arrived on a coach which was pre booked with garden centre. Order taken quickly as we were the first ones off of coach but then waited 45 min for food and coffee. Did complain was told you were not first (they lied) as being a table of 9 we know we got in early, table's that arrived after us got their food before us. Others on coach had to have their food and drinks as take away as they took too long to serve. Staff rude and unhelpful.

I agree with previous reviews about setting and facilities - all great. We had visited on previous occasions and always enjoyed the experience. However I am guessing that we caught the Bedingfeld Arms at their leist desired serving time, and definitely on an off day. Our timing was for 6.30pm on Sunday 10th of November. Upon arrival, which was fortunately slightly early, we were shown to our table and advised that we had seven minutes to order, and that 60% of the menu was not available. We had not been advised prior to our arival (they had our phone number) of the tight timing or lack of menu items. Food was ordered - 3 burgers and one Pheasant dish as this was all they had. Upon arrival of the food the waitress, who was clearly under pressure from the front of house lady and the Chef, was dealing with who had what relish for which burger etc... when the front of house lady came over and lambasted the waitress saying something about the Chef needing to be informed propery - no idea what that was about, but it was seriously cringeworhty and unprofessional to have been holding that conversation in front of us. We duduced that the Chef was the worry for the staff at front of house, and it seemed that he and the kithcn staff just didn't want to be there. The food was good, and the waitress and bar staff extremely pleasant - they were apologising for the Chef and the restrictions to our meal - which gave us a good idea of where the pressure and unpleasant atmosphere was coming from. I have written directly to the Bedingfeld Arms via there website, but as of two weeks later I have had no reply. Seeing all of the other reviews, which mirror my previous experience, I would just recommend avoiding a Sunday evenings.

Found the member who served me to just kind of rush not ask if I wanted any of the extras that I was looking for. I requested sauce for both boxes but only received one :( just didn’t feel welcome
