Peru Perdu in Manchester

Devastated to hear this place is closing - my partner and I visited a few days ago and Andrey and Rob delivered exemplary service despite being understaffed. A lot of love for this place and for the entire team.

Excellent food Friendly staff In a beautiful restaurant

I had a look to see what was near the theatre for my friends and. I was curious to try the Peruvian food so we booked. I felt like a wandering ghost at first, it's quite a large area and my friend was waiting inside but I wasn't acknowledged but eventually found her on my own. Once sat this kind chap offered me a drink so I ordered a mojito which was strong and well balanced. When the rest of the group joined we swiftly ordered. Tuna with ponzu, watermelon and Siracha, peppers, sea bass ceviche, and steak empanadas. We tried each other's plates my favourite had to be the super fresh sashimi style Tuna. For mains the ladies ordered these giant prawns, and myself and another had a sea bass papya salad and a Tuna steak variant. I was asked how I wanted my steak done, always medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and and was of good portion. Everyone else really enjoyed theirs too. Alas we had no time for dessert I did try another spicy cocktail. Overall service was attentive once Sat at the table, food was fresh and delightful and the cocktails were very well made. Yes I'd come back

Visited with the Fork booking as part of a promotion and it was a great choice to claim my Fork points. All dishes have been really good, well presented and the service was super nice and friendly. Special recommendation for cheesecake and popcorn shrimp. Not too busy early afternoon on Sunday.

Best chicken burger I’ve ever had, brilliant cocktail selection too

We came as a party of 16 last night and everything was top notch. Food was great but the service was absolutely first class. We were looked after perfectly from start to finish. Thanks Peru Perdu, we will be back!

16 of us came in for a work party and we wasn’t disappointed! Very colourful decor 💜💛💚🧡🩵🩷 and Rob the manager looked after us so well. Our drinks were topped up always and the food was delicious! Couldn’t have asked for a better place for after work dinner ♥️✨ was my first time but won’t be my last. See you again soon 🙂🪩

Absolutely beautiful food and cozy place, we ordered five small platters and all were delicious especially the Tuna Ceviche 😋, a lovely warm welcome from Rob and great cheerful service from Anna, very recommended..

One of the best restaurants in Manchester. Whether we're walking in with no booking at 9pm on a Saturday or have booked for a 50% off January deal, the team here has welcomed us in with open arms. Tuna picar - exceptional. Popcorn shrimp - insane. Steaks always have the perfect char, cooked in a way that no other restaurant comes close to. Superchimmi sauce with your steak is a must too. We will return here time and again, thank you!

Excellent, personable service and very dog friendly! Went for Sunday dinner and were the only customers in the restaurant (maybe something to do with the main entrance being closed). Didn’t try anything from the Peruvian menu in the end as we had the Sunday Roasts which had excellent meat (“maybe the best beef I’ve had in a roast ever”). Only hiccup was part of one of the Yorkshire puddings was still frozen. The real highlight was the service, however. Knowledgable and friendly, and catered so welcoming oh to our dog, who got his own little doggy roast too! Very quiet when we went (a sunny day that made it feel a bit dark inside) but can imagine a nice vibe in busy evenings. Overall will be looking to return some time to try the Peruvian menu which sounded great.

I booked a table for 14 as a pre wedding meal. The restaurant itself is really cool with comfy chairs and vibrant colours. The staff could not have done more for us and the food was amazing. Despite the large table, the food came out quickly and all together. We had 2 kids with us who they made adjustments to the menu for as well. The restaurant manager Rob looked after our party personally and was so accommodating and helpful. Everyone seemed genuinely really invested in us having a great time. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and we couldn’t have wished for more. Overall I would say this place is a must! The staff are all so kind and we felt really special whilst eating in Peru Perdu. I would 100% recommend and we will be back very soon.

Any where I travel, I seek out Peruvian food. Peru Perdu isn’t a traditional Peruvian restaurant but the influences are clear. I had the sea bass ceviche as a starter which was light and fragrant, but not the most traditional. The grilled chicken was terrific and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Peru Perdu

The Saturday night we went I think they were understaffed and it showed. They couldn't find our table reservation (booked a week previously), took ages to take our drinks order and got our food order wrong! Luckily the food they did eventually bring was super tasty so no marks taken off there! Also wasn't particularly Peruvian but that could just be me? The staff were very nice though despite being run ragged. Food not super expensive. We left contented.

Amazing place. My mum and I came for a Sunday roast and I have to say, the food was really good, and the service was brilliant. Anna looked after us really well all evening, she was so attentive and lovely, we felt really relaxed. I had the roast chicken and my mum had the roast beef, and we were both blown away by the quality and quantity of food. The vibe of the place was lovely and I will definitely be coming back!

Great freshly cooked meal ,friendly attentive staff ,really enjoyed dining here and will return to stay in hotel because this hotel restaurant is well worth a return visit.Highly recommend an evening in Peru Perdu.

Great service, lovely food and coctails. Great location, atmosphere and decor with music for a nice touch. Staff is lovely and lead by a lovely manager Rob whos been nothing but amazing during our time here! Will deffinitly be back soon!

Went on Thursday and frankly my papaya salad came out like mainly shredded cabbage. Was missing peanuts, tomatoes which it is meant to have and any flavour at all tbh. I couldnt be arsed to send it back. Just wildly dissapointing. Strange menu, chicken main course wasn't much better tbh. Certainly wouldn't go again.

So… I have been here once for a Christmas and work so and had had a great time. When I saw the prices of the food I thought it was a bit expensive for the standard of food but whatever had had a nice evening, cocktails were amazing and the place was decorated immaculate and the service and atmosphere was great … BUT my mum was here this weekend with her 3 best friends for her birthday, staying in the gay village for her birthday. So I booked this for them and had put in the notes, drinks only and that it was for her birthday so treat her well… I asked her how it went and she said they were really unfriendly and seemed annoyed that they weren’t eating?!? And that the cocktails weren’t made correctly?! I’m so annoyed because I wanted to book my mum places that she’d enjoy and this place ruined her special day … it is not a cheap place, you are paying for top quality service and they didn’t receive that. I was upset that I booked this place for them for them to make my mum and her friends feel so uncomfortable. Such a shame

what a fabulous spot! host was friendly and attentive and the food really was beautiful. had the empanadas and the asado chicken and a cocktail and my friend said her popcorn shrimp was stunning. will definitely be returning for another visit

The food was delicious but, I have to say, I didn't taste anything that would make me come back. The prices are quite high. Very friendly attention although the service was quite slow. Even so, the atmosphere is very nice and on the weekend it is a pleasure to be there.

My partner arranged for us to eat at Peru Perdu in Manchester on our Valentine’s weekend away. I had never heard of it before, but I was excited to try something new. Their menu was limited, but there were some good choices available. We went for… 🦐 Popcorn Shrimp 🐓 Chimmi Chicken Wings 🍠 Pastel De Papas 🍤 Argentine Red Prawns The popcorn shrimp was the most delicious shrimp I have ever had. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken wings were quite tough and slightly overcooked, but the sauce on them was enjoyable. Both of our main courses were excellent! The flavors from both dishes were incredible. The sweet potato was perfectly crisp and full of flavor, cooked to perfection. The prawns were delightful and very moreish. The staff here were lovely and accommodating, and our drinks were always full.

Splendid time with the wife and the owner was super accommodating! What a totally nice chap and a charming place. Would highly recommend.

The food was very good, arrived very quickly and was fresh and hot. However, the person serving us kept touching my fiance's back and shoulders inappropriately (he wasn't doing it to anyone else at neighbouring tables) which was quite uncomfortable for us and a bit much. Please do some HR training with your stuff or something

Had a wonderful Birthday there on the 25th of January. Had a small wait for table , but staff were excellent despite being so busy. Rob was very accommodating with his fabulous service. Would recommend this place for overall service and ambience. Will definitely be back for the beautiful steak.

This place used to be much better (coincidentally when they had more people of colour on kitchen staff..but anyway). Manager was attentive and the bar staff even made me a custom Mocktail without sugar which was lovely BUT if you want remotely authentic South American food, this is not the place. Their 'chimmi' and 'super chimmi' sauce is more like Nando's medium peri peri at best and nothing like real chimmichurri from any country. The ceviché lacked lime and was only made more palatable by mixing it with the guacamole (which is Mexican??!). Clearly this place is just trying to cater for basic white british palates and not interested in being a unique cultural learning experience in Manchester.

Must visit place! There was a slight mix up with the booking, but management more than made up for it. Cocktails are delightful and the food is delicious 😋. I had the popcorn shrimp to start and then a fillet steak for my main, it cut through like butter. It's a really chilled atmosphere with excellent service. I will definitely be returning. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pictures😄 Next time.

From start to finish it was excellent. Food was outstanding with polite and attentive staff and some really good cocktails and wine to match. Truly recommend

We had a lovely late lunch / early dinner at Peru Perdu on Saturday. We’ve rarely had such a great experience that covers great food, atmosphere and service. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with intimate dining tables. The menu is superb. We both had the Rib Eye and it was sensational. Not had anything as good as that for a very very long time. The service was impeccable. Rob and William work incredibly hard, and we’d like to give a mention to the tall man in the green knitted jumper too. Great pricing, lovely wine - We will definitely be back! Keep smashing it guys! 😀😀

Fantastic atmosphere and service. We visited with our teenage family, including a young autistic man and we were bowled over by the welcome we received. On top of that the food and service were outstanding. I couldn't recommend highly enough

Excellent restaurant. Arrived without a booking but Rob did his best to squeeze us in at a later time which was much appreciated. Ordered the chateaubriand which was one of the best cuts of steak we have ever had. Service was prompt. Will 100% be back

Booked for a little meal before a comedy show in Manchester. This place is just gorgeous. The restaurant was warm and cozy. The service was outstanding from the staff - they were so fast at serving the food and cleaning the tables. Due to a stock issue they didn't have the things I'd already chose on the menu but actually I'm really glad it went that way. JUST LOOK AT THE FOOD!!!!!

Best roast I’ve had in Greater Manchester. Chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Also tried the beef and it was delicious. Dulce leche cheesecake was yummy!! Service was excellent and the entire team made us feel so welcome and special. Can’t wait to return and try the Peruvian dishes. Thank you so much for a beautiful experience!

Fabulous food one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time TBH

All the food was delicious and good sized portions. Service was excellent, with the manager in particular being really friendly and welcoming. Popcorn prawns and peppers to start. Chateau Briand for main and caramel cheesecake for dessert. All fantastic. Really smooth red Malbec to drink. Will return when next in Manchester.

I had three of the small plates, the Sea Bass, Salmon and Empanadas, and can say they were all terrific. Fantastic personalities on the waiting staff too.

Read some great reviews on this restaurant so popped in mid week for lunch. I was the only person dining in there. I ordered two small plates and a glass of wine. Asked for the bill which was just under £20 including service charge. Waiter reappears with the card machine as I waved my £20 to indicate I would like to pay cash. Waiter tells me it’s card only. Well this is all I have I said. He replied ok I’ll take it but I can’t give you any change and it’s card only next time. Don’t worry I won’t be coming back. As far I was concerned cash is legal tender and I was initially refused. I did not see any signs to indicate cash was not accepted and at no point when ordering was I informed of this. It is discriminating against people who don’t have cards or prefer to pay cash Show less

We visited Peru Peru for an early dinner and was greeted by our lovely waitress Elise who could not have been more helpful, knowledgeable efficient and all done with a lovely smile. The food was delicious as we're the drinks so would definitely recommend this venue.

Tried refusing a cash payment, eventually accepted cash but refused to give change.

Had the pleasure of attending a baby shower here. Met by Rob who could not do enough for us he was amazing such a star. Make sure we were all catered for and had a warm and welcome attitude. Decor is beautiful Food was tasting Staff friendly Thank you for making my friend’s baby shower special :)

I was just passing through Manchester and i found this inspiring Peruvian place , was a lovely experience, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The chef Mark made sure that evrything was on my liking and our waitress Maria welcomed us and served us in the best way . When i will be back in Manchester i will definitely be back there.

Peru Pedu has always been a bit letting from a service aspect. Staff aren’t always attentive and turn around can be slow. The amazing food is what keeps us going back well over 6 times now. Yesterday they had a new waitress she was absolutely spot on and knocked the service out the park. The food was amazing as always. Can’t wait to come back soon.

The food is delicious and the staff are so nice)) I had chicken burger and beetroot with feta, I was surprised how well they combined unusual sous and well fried chicken, and as side with beetroot was awesome! Also got two pisco sours and it was very good, I had many another Piscos in another places but these ones was amazing! Only one thing, music was a bit too loud.

Perdu meaning lost, Peru is definitely lost in this Peruvian"inspired" restaurant where the closest you will come to Peruvian food is the restaurant recommendations in the 2016 Lonely Planet guide to Peru which decorates one of the seating booths. The decor, which features posters for Patrón Tequila and Milano Vermouth and a bar decorated with painted cassette tapes is as confused as the menu, which places a sebass ceviche alongside steaks, a chicken burger and a "Colombian" banana split. Authenticity isn't apparent, and the inspiration seems less "Peru" and more "countries where the language is a bit spanishy". Unfortunately, the food is as far removed from any good flavour as the whole concept of the restaurant is removed from Peru. The seabass ceviche (£9) surprisingly hasn't seen any lime and tastes suspiciously identical to the salmon ceviche (£9), in the sense of both being rubbery and bland. At least the portions are small. The guacamole (£7.5) served with black corn nachos likewise lacks flavour and lime, and begs the question as to why guacamole features on the menu at all. Peru is very, very far from Mexico. The chicken burger (for £16) has been better replicated at your local dirty chicken shop (£4, and includes a hash brown and a drink). At least the fries are nice. The biggest failure by far was the pisco sour, the national drink of Peru, which was honestly the worst I've ever had. The ingredients for this classic cocktail call for sugar, which was missing, and freshly squeezed lime juice, not old lime juice. In fact, the lack of freshly squeezed lime juice throughout was puzzling, given that like wedges appeared as garnish on almost every plate. The staff were friendly and efficient and food came out quickly, and it's for them that I want to give this venue at least a few stars. Unfortunately, everything falls so far away from the mark of what Peru Perdu sets itself to be that it does not deserve more than one. Honestly, the Peruvian embassy should force this place to issue a disclaimer stating that patrons should not take the food there as indicative of the variety and flavour of Peruvian cuisine.

It has Peru in the name but that's it. One of the worst pisco sours and ceviches I've had. Many posters for Padrón, which is from Mexico. Not ideal.

Lovely restaurant. My waitress was really lovely and attentive. I didn’t catch her name but she had blonde hair. She was alone but was really aware of what I needed and accommodating. The food itself was really really delicious. I had the steak and the pineapple carpaccio. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely lovely restaurant, we visited on Thursday 10th August for Lunch, the new small plate menu had just been launched. The sea bass ceviche was amazing as were all the other plates. Service was 5 star, I’d highly recommend this hidden gem on the corner of Princess and Whitworth Streets.

A beautiful restaurant. Lovely decor and excellent service. Was slightly disappointed that on the OpenTable website the menu was not updated and therefore the pricing was vastly different. The pork was exquisite! Would have loved to have a steak knife instead to eat it with though. Highly recommended.

Excellent service, the waitress who served us was a very passionate and kind person! Unfortunately the food is very overpriced and portions rather small. ‘Pollo Tigre de Lêche’ is actually a fried chicken thigh, apparently worth 18£. The Empanadas were very tasty, ‘Caballa’ (Mackrel) was tasty, mains are served with no bread / rice or potatoes which may come as a surprise.

Lovely experience! The staff is very kind and attentive to the customer. Especially Ana at the bar, her food recommendations were on point!

The food is good and the service could improve. I gave one star because the names of the dishes has nothing to do with what you get and we as a clients felt a bit scammed. If you go to this restaurant I'm sure you will enjoy it as we did but don't go thinking you will eat real Peruvian food because you will not. Maybe as a constructive suggestion the restaurant owner should change the names of the dishes.

Had high hopes but the place felt a bit tired. Had to abandon 1/3 of my steak because it was too difficult to cut through. Was served a stale glass of wine from a bottle that had clearly been open for a while. They replaced it with a different (smaller and cheaper) glass but still charged me for the original one. Staff were very friendly and the place itself is nice but not sure I could recommend given the prices.

What a fantastic find. We did go on a Sunday which meant a Sunday dinner, which we probably wouldn't have chosen had we thought on, saying that we were there and we just went for it. I am so glad we did as the service was excellent and the food just delicious. Drinks were very good too. It was also father's day which again we didn't think of, but when we arrived they sat us out of the way on a lovely table. I am so glad we did try here and we would definitely return but perhaps on a Friday or Saturday night. Also did I mention the desert we had was so yummy. All in all a fantastic evening and would definitely recommend

Love this restaurant. I have had dinners and Sunday lunch there. The food is top notch. Staff friendly and welcoming. Lush Argentinian wine. Chocolate dessert with raspberry mousse and cinder toffee is amazing.

Booked Peru Perdu for a little romantic date based on the good reviews and menu. Warm, friendly greeting, shown to our booth-like table and instantly felt a warm atmosphere and the quirky decor gave us something to talk about. Our main downside was one of the waitstaff. He was an amazing guy, but derailed the night. So we had the same female waitress for all our orders who delivered our drinks and most our food too. After she took the initial order, he appeared, introduced himself and asked to take our order. He didn't realise we'd been seen to. Simple mistake. Forgivable. But he came back again and said the kitchen didn't have our order so we re-ordered through him... lo and behold, our waitress brought the food to our table... for the waitress to confusingly bring a second order of the same mains... management sorted it out, but the waiter had put the order through when he shouldn't have got involved. It led to management comping the second of mains. While we thought it was well handled we ended up eating twice as much. (Came here Dec 2021)

Staff were super helpful, friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. We ordered a lot because we couldn’t decide what to have. All the dishes were really well presented and tasted amazing. Would highly recommend.

We had the place to ourselves for first couple of hours (we ended up staying just over 5!) which was odd on a sunny day. Food exemplary, service from the beautiful young woman looking after us was faultless. We dined on small plates, extra fat chips and deserts. We're all planning on coming back. Fab find

The servers were fantastic and super friendly, the atmosphere was lovely. We tried the signature cocktail which was nice, though a little overpriced. The food was also a little expensive. I tried half a lobster for the first time to treat myself, and I've got to say I was disappointed. I understand it was only half of one but the meat didn't even constitute a mouth full, so a full lobster wouldn't have been much better. I don't know if that's standard for lobster but for the price it definitely wasn't worth it, tasty as it was. Overall it was a nice experience and I enjoyed myself there. There is a discretionary service charge of 10%, which you can remove, though I imagine having to ask for it to be removed would make you feel a little guilty.

The location and atmosphere of this place are great - very central and hip vibes. Not very busy either, which was nice and the staff was very attentive and chatty. The food we had was absolutely incredible, although I would have liked some more hot and vegan options amongst the small plates. It seemed to be a lot of salad variations. Didn't try the vegan big plate, so that might be good.

The food was delicious! If you are a seafood lover, I recommend the raw scallops. It was very tasty and very unique. For mains, we had baked bream which was lovely and tasty. The lobster was a bit disappointing though as the portion was very small for the price and had so little of side salad. The dessert was alright but nothing special. Staff was very friendly, great service and atmosphere.

Took 50 minutes to receive food and drinks. Ordered based on what we were told wasn't available, only to be told the items we ordered also weren't available. No communicatio from staff whilst waiting for food, or even offer of more drinks. Appalling service and information from staff.

First of all, Ana, who served us was so kind and attentive, she was lovely. Second, we had the picanha and it was so good and tasty. But the winner is the dulce de leche cheesecake, it was SO good, we loved it!!

Sunday Roast! Historical building with quirky interiors and a calming feel to the restaurant. A group of us enjoyed the chicken & beef roast, steaks and red wine. It’s well known they know how to cook steak and we certainly went let down. Very very tasty food! The drinks were tasty but seemed to take a long time to come which disrupted the flow a little. Perhaps this is because it’s also the bar/restaurant for the hotel too. It’s not enough to put us off and will look forward to our next visit.

Food was barely warm. And not the best to be honest. Chips were undercooked. We had the gem lettuce, which was whilted and grilled, definitely not fresh. For the price I would expect top quality produce Unfortunately, I don't think it was . I won't be returning or recommend this restaurant. Pulled pork on flat bread was cold. Calamari was Rubery with a mayonnaise that had been left out and had a skin on it like custard. Not worth the money

I had high expectations for this restaurant. Unfortunately I found the food to be poor, lukewarm and the croutons were stale.

Tasty food with great wine! We loved the picanha & scallops ceviche, with papaya salad & asparagus sides. The place is beautiful, the food is full of flavor, the service is great and friendly, and the wine selection is perfect.

First time eating here and I have to say, the food and the service were fantastic. We all had steaks which were cooked perfectly and the staff are both polite, attentive and knowledgeable. A definite recommendation if you like steak and a good wine!

My friends arrived at 2pm for our reservation and granted I was running 20mins late due to being unable to get an Uber. The staff were very accommodating and totally fine with this. However, when I arrived there were only around 4-5 tables in the restaurant. I sat myself down and a young gentleman came over to take a drinks order from me and explain the menu, which was great. This is where it pretty much went downhill. Our drinks came, one of the original ones my friends ordered a glass of wine was forgotten, no biggy but a little poor. The server got the wine and filled my friends glass with what looked around 75ml of red wine. It looked more like a taster. We sat and caught up and unfortunately I didn’t track time as I hadn’t seen my friends for ages so we were chatting. However, both me and a friend ordered the beef roast, my other friend ordered small plates. My friend must have got his small plates around 15mins after ordering, perfect! Around 5mins later and after us all trying our friends small plates. A young lady brought over our roast board full of what looked like delicious potatoes, veg and Yorkshire’s to share. After this, we pretty much heard nothing for at least 20mins! We resorted to starting to eat our roast sides without our meat. My friend ended up finishing his small plates, by which point we had helped him to eat them as we were all starving and we had eaten some of the Sunday roast board too. My other friend then approached the young lady on the pass, to explain that we hadn’t received our meat to go with our roast board, to which she replied ‘your friend ordered small plates, so this delays the cooking of the meat’. Why would you bring the roast board with all the trimmings on if the meat wasn’t ready for at least over 20mins later? Why do small plates ordered on the same table affect the cooking of roast meats? The lady came and took the roast board from the table, at which point we had probably been waiting around 30mins for our food after our friend getting his small plates. The lady tried to play the whole situation down by saying ‘the chefs are going to whip you up some lovely fresh stuff’ - this surely is the basic requirement that we came for and were paying for? Again, we waited and around 10mins for our food to come after speaking to the lady. Rather than receiving a roast board, my friend and I received a plate this time with all our roast items on, again another disappointment. The food was okay, expensive for the 4 small fatty pieces of beef you receive but at this point I just wanted to eat and leave as it was so awkward how the whole team were blatantly avoiding our table. Noticeably in the time between my friend getting his small plates and us receiving our roasts, at least two other tables received their food who definitely came in or ordered after us. I wanted to pop this in an email rather than a review as I can imagine there were probably reasons as to why we received the poor level of service we did. However, I feel like we were made to feel stupid on the day and as if it was just normal to wait so long for two meals after our friends meal. To add, by the time our roast meats came, the same lady who brought them over cleared my friends 4 small plates as he had completely finished. My friends got the bill but I was told we paid nearly £90 for this meal which seems incredibly expensive again for the service we received.

Great experience! Amazing food and really nice service! The cheesecake is worth it! Loved the decoration as well!
