A nice and cozy place to enjoy some fine Italian food in Didsbury. The fresh ingredients and the taste of good food and flavours is something you can go back with. Some vegetarian options and plenty of sea food options. Worth a definite visit

If you want a traditional restaurant that lets you take your time, doesn't rush you out of the door because your two hour slot is up, gives fabulous, value for money (and a great negroni), this is your place. The fish is totally delicious & my favourite.

This is a really special small Italian restaurant serving traditional and modern Italian cuisine. We all had the sea bream special which was absolutely amazing. I could have eaten everything on the menu! The small team work hard to make it a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant.

I absolutely love this place! They do the best seafood and Italian food in south Manchester and have great wines too. It’s not expensive but the quality is amazing. Last night I had the best sardines starter and whole sea bream which had an Asian twist and then amazing brownie - all delicious. So many people tried it get a table while we were eating, it was crazy but good to see! Book it for next weekend!

Came across this restaurant by chance. Reviews were mixed, but I wanted to try for myself. I love small local businesses and wanted to support. Walking in the atmosphere was nice, chilled, and intimate. We were seated straightaway. Had a little time to go over the menu, which had plenty of options. The food smelt amazing. Ordered out starters, which was so tasty I could have eaten two plates! Now, with the mains, we waited nearly an hour for them to come out! I did have to ask the waitress where they were, to which she responded politely that were busy, but it was a long wait. I was a little uncomfortable on the chairs as there was no cushion support, considering they were solid wooden chairs, I had to stand up at one point to relieve myself. Something to consider, especially if the wait is long between courses. The main courses were nice, that made up for the delay and the dessert was also delicious. Overall, a good experience apart from the wait and the food was authentic. I would go back maybe on day they are not so busy.

I don’t recognise the incredible things said in previous reviews after trying for the first time last night. Food was oily and soggy, overcooked. Quite poor quality for the high amount we paid. Also took over an hour for the main courses to come. In its favour, the place is a nice cosy restaurant with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The place just needs a decent shake up to justify the prices. I hope it happens because it’s got a lot of potential. Some better alternative restaurants nearby.

Lovely cosy atmosphere. Small restaurant but feels very intimate. Staff lovely. Polite and friendly but not in your face. Best steak I’ve had in ages. Partner had sea bass, prawns and calamari and said it was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Decided to give Azzurro a try with a couple of friends, as none of us had been before. In terms of positives, it's nice and cosy inside with a good ambience. The service was reasonably good too. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. My main course was probably the pick of the 3 dishes. I had Sea Bass with Crab Linguine. It was good but not amazing. I was excited to order the Limoncello and Ricotta cheesecake, however it was a very stingy portion. Tasted OK but I've had better. The Coffee was good.

We went on a Friday night for my boyfriend’s birthday and unfortunately it was just really average and we came away quite disappointed. The first thing I noticed entering the restaurant was the damp smell. The bathroom is in the cellar and smells really damp, and I think that perhaps seeps out to the rest of the restaurant. It wasn’t the best first impression, but we’d booked a table and things like damp can be hard to control, so I just tried to ignore it. The bread we ordered to nibble at was perfectly pleasant, but nothing remarkable. For wine, we went with the house white. When it arrived, we had a sip and it was pretty much room temperature. The ice bucket was also warm. When we told the waitress it was warm, we were offered ice. We asked if we could have a bottle that was colder and were told they were all that temperature. It was disappointing, but we just accepted the ice, not the end of the world but not also something you expect. The starters were probably the best part of the meal. I had the prawn and squid toast which was nice. My boyfriend had beef carpaccio (again, nice, but not thinly sliced like a traditional carpaccio, it was like they had taken a standard steak from a shop, cooked it to blue, then sliced it into 0.5cm thick slices). The mains were okay. The seafood linguine was heavy on chilli, to the point where it detracted a bit from the seafood. It was the type of dish you could cook at home yourself. The sea bream was fairly dry and had a bit of a cotton wool texture to it. We didn’t have dessert, so I can’t comment. In total we spent just shy of £100 for two. We had really high hopes going into this, but came away quite disappointed; it wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good. I don’t think we would go back again.

Really lovely independent, the kitchen is small so food took a little while to come out but the waiter was really honest from the start about this, but definitely worth the wait.

Great night. We were running late but they accommodated the hours delay. Food very nice and a great atmosphere. Chief/owner came out at the end of the night to have a chat which was a nice personal touch. Would recommend to anyone who like Italian food

Dined here for the first time this evening, I'm afraid we won't be returning. Although the food was indeed outstanding, the service was terrible. Firstly we walked into the door Greated by two people who we believed worked there, neither of which offered us a table asked if we'd got a table reserved, nothing just let us walk on in and we were stood around waiting aimlessly. Seated after receiving drinks, which I'm assuming the staff were new, as the wine glasses were not removed from the table, and glasses were put at the wrong side. Anyway aside from that we got our amazing food fantastic! But the staff were just hanging around a few feet away laughing and joking. I'm like trying to have a romantic meal here.. We didn't get asked at any point if everything was OK. When our food was taken, we got a desert menu, which didn't actually cover what coffee they did. We asked for a maciatto and a espresso and the maciatto came out looking like a tiny latte.. So if you go to a restaurant and are not bothered by service rock on in. But as my partner is a ex chef and has worked in the industry, standards have to be met! Sorry Azzuro but you can do better, it's a no from me.👎

Incredible food and incredible service. We were feeling sad as it had been a month since our fortnight in Italy. We wanted to recreate an evening in Venice with authentic Italian food and this place absolutely nailed it. Outstanding food, wonderfully welcoming service from Luca and Danny. We only moved to Didsbury yesterday and already have our favourite restaurant, can't wait to go back!

A gem of a restaurant in West Didsbury. It retains its charm in an area that has otherwise become over commercialised with cut-and-paste bars and bland food joints. Azzuro is family run; Emil and his team have put together a delightful menu with great flavours. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. A place to go to enjoy food and drink in convivial surroundings We love the seafood and fish dishes here: no other place offers such food locally. We need more places like this in West Didsbury 🙂

I have been to Azzurro Ristorante on quite a few occasions. I cannot praise the staff enough, they are so friendly and helpful. The food is second to none, if you want a place to enjoy food and company without shouting over the music than look no further.

Food was okay but service was quite slow and think it's a bit overpriced for what you get - the bruschetta in particular seemed like all store bought ingredients

Decided to try this restaurant as it’s one of the only ones we haven’t visited on Burton Road before. I ordered the goats cheese followed by the steak, my OH selected the carpaccio, chicken and then the brownie. My meal was okay but average at best. I was actually disappointed as we took our friends there and they didn’t seem impressed either. Shame. We won’t be returning with the variety available in Didsbury

We visited with our son and his partner. They have eaten here several times before. Whilst the place is quite small, we didn't feel too close to other tables or in any way packed in. The service we received was efficient, informative, timely and with no issues. We had starters and mains - all were of a high standard. They have a fairly short, but imaginative menu - a sign of quality over quantity. In addition, they have a blackboard with several fish options. Overall, this was a great experience and we will definitely return.

Nice little independent restaurant on Burton Road, does unfortunately give the vibe of a hobby Business. Some of the wait staff were excellent but a few were very disinterested and actively seemed to be ignoring tables. The food was good, but at a very high price point. Am hoping we just caught them on an off day, will probably try again at some point in the future

Although the place looks great I don’t think I’ll be returning. Food was nice but the portion sizes were very small. Unfortunately, not worth it.

I keep coming back to this gem of a restaurant and it never ceases to leave stunned. The quality of the food is tremendous, in this day of chain restaurants where the food is a confused mish mash of flavours it is so refreshing to eat a meal where the individual flavours explode on your palate, you experiance a fusion as opposed to a mish mash, again I have enjoyed a wonderful meal.

I ordered 2 starters and 2 mains from Azzurro's takeaway menu for Valentines Day. It was £30 in total which was really good value for restaurant quality food. We preordered earlier in the week and Emil was great at keeping in touch with what specials were on. We had a mixture of meat and seafood dishes and all were very tasty. Id definitely order from them again, and I'm looking forward to visiting the restaurant in person when we are allowed. Thank you again!

This family run independent restaurant in West Didsbury, Manchester is a must visit if you enjoy fresh, passionately made Italian food. Far better than any Italian chain restaurant as this little gem will give you that authentic passion that you only feel in the back streets of any Italian town. Get booked in for the whole evening (as they certainly won't rush you to leave) and let them spoil you.

I found this fantastic restaurant during lockdown and have become totally addicted. The food is fabulous and their delicious 2 course take out menu has become my weekly treat. It’s one of the best quality take aways I have eaten and the staff are so friendly. I can’t wait for normality to return so I can dine in and sample Emil’s cookery in its natural habitat!

Had the most delicious take home meal from Azzuro for Christmas Eve, really fresh tasty sardines, packed well and good portion sizes. I forward to our second annual New Year’s Eve supper from Azzuro. Such great quality food that I can now have at home. ❤️🧡

Give this a try if you haven't already ..... since Covid started to change our world Azzuro has opened as a take away serving restaurant quality food at great value three days a week. The quality of the food is excellent - always a range of great fish dishes (sea bass, sea bream, seafood linguine all great) but also specials including wood smoked meatballs and steak - always super fresh and hot on collection. Emil and the team are really friendly, quick to reply to messages and accommodating on collection times.

Discovered this hidden gem well too late in our didsbury days before we moved 20 minutes away. Having done so it is still our favourite restaurant and now favourite takeaway making it worthwhile still making this journey quite a few times over lockdown to get our fix. Amazing food every single time and have been able to share this with our family when they have been able to stay. Unbelievable value for the quality of food served. Best Italian in the area by a distance.

We’ve been coming here for years and in 2020 have used them as a takeaway which has provided their outstanding restaurant quality food at home. The food is always fresh and the £15 starter and main deal is simply the best value. Our favourites include the sea bass linguine, whole sea bream and goats cheese starter. If you’re reading this post pandemic, it’s an absolute must visit for cosy, atmospheric dining. I even hired the whole restaurant for a party once and would love to do that again. It’s the kind of place you can stay all night without being pushed out for the next booking. A true gem.

A real hidden gem! I have dined at this family run restaurant on several occasions (pre-lockdown) and on each and every occasion have been impressed by the delicious, fresh, authentic food. The attention to detail and personal, friendly service from the staff is exceptional. The restaurant oozes character and they have created a cosy romantic atmosphere. During the lockdown the restaurant has continued to offer takeaway food which has been equally impressive and great value for money!

Since moving to Didsbury in the summer my girlfriend and I have regularly ordered from Azzurro and we've yet to be dissapointed. Food is great (the steaks are FANTASTIC) and really friendly, personal service. Can't wait to actually dine in the restaurant once we're past the worst of the pandemic.

We discovered Azzurro for takeaway during lockdown after a recommendation. The food is fantastic, freshly cooked and amazing value. Looking forward to visiting it again and also when it is fully open as a restaurant.

As Locals in the West Didsbury area we've been visiting Azzuro for years. We love the atmosphere coupled with the wonderful food and drink. We were worried with how it would manage with Covid and the new regulations however this concern was clearly unnecessary as Emil and Anna have taken things in their stride. They have taken the leap to takeaway. The food is just as good as ever and we still enjoy the personal service with a smile. I'd also recommend taking the opportunity to pick up a bag of their freshly ground coffee at the same time. We look forward to when restrictions lift and we can dine in again.

Azzurro is probably my favourite restaurant in Manchester, and one I return to whenever there is a special occasion.It is a personal, friendly restaurant where you can feel that the staff want to go that extra mile in order to make your meal special.I've eaten here multiple times and always been impressed by the quality of the seafood, the offers available and the general ambience and character of this restaurant.Throughout lockdown they've also been offering excellent coffee and takeaway food which is significantly better than competitors.It is only opened a few nights a week which always makes it feel like you've stumbled into somewhere that is exclusive and "your own" but there is always unfailingly warm welcome.The seabass and linguine in particular is a favourite.Can't recommend enough.

Since lockdown Azzurro have been operating a delivery service. I decided to try the delivery service as I had heard so many good things about Azzurro. I can honestly say that the food rivals any of the Italian restaurants I’ve dined at in Manchester. The food was amazing. I ordered the prawns for starters and they were delicious. For mains I had the seafood linguine. If I thought the starter was delicious , the main was on a different level. I’d go so far as to say this was the best linguine I’ve ever had. Succulent prawns , mussels and squid along with a tomato sauce to die for. You can taste the love that goes into making the food. They didn’t skimp on the portions either. As if the food wasn’t amazing , the service is excellent too. From ordering to delivery to the quality of food , I’d say the experience from Azzurro was the best I’ve had in terms of food delivery. Unlike the delivery service from Deliveroo or Just Eat, Azzuro have their own driver and deliver on time and to the correct address! The food and overall experience I’ve had from Azzurro has turned me into a regular and I honestly can’t wait to go to the restaurant when it can open back up. So if you want some of the finest food at excellent value and a great all round service , then you should try them out. Not only will you give your taste buds a treat you will also be supporting a local business. I really can’t recommend Azzurro enough.

What a place; Azzurro was our favourite before COVID although we couldn’t visit that often due to having young children.The move to a takeaway during COVID has meant that we have been able to enjoy Emil’s food more often. And what food it is - fish/seafood a speciality, amazing pasta and brilliant steak and chips.The chocolate brownie and the hand roasted coffee are also firm favourites.Couldn’t recommend Azzurro more. On our list of first places to visit once it returns as a restaurant post-COVID to enjoy the food, service and atmosphere of this amazing place and team.

Since moving to West Didsbury in June, we have regularly ordered from Azurro. The food is amazing, generous portions and great flavours. The staff is so personable and are always accommodating. My favourites are Nonna’s Canneloni and any of the seafood specials! I can’t recommend it enough.

During the lockdown I was fortunate to have tasted the delights of the takeaway service and there hand roasted ground coffee. The food was excellent and the ground coffee was addictive.

I had the steak and chips, with chocolate desert. Steak was delicious, the handcut chips were perfect and the desert was another level of delicious!!! Definitely recommend you try. Restaurant food in the comfort of your own home!!

We've eaten at the restaurant a couple of times and always enjoyed it. Wondered how the food would travel as a takeaway. Well, it was fabulous! So impressed. Food was piping hot when we served it up and so, so delicious. I had the cannelloni, husband had the pollo alla luca. Highly recommended.

El italiano es mi cocina favorita y por eso puedo ser bastante exigente a la hora de elegir restaurantes italianos. La comida es excepcional: siempre pido el linguini de albóndigas porque es diferente a cualquier otro. Mi amigo generalmente pide linguini de mariscos, que es hermoso. El vino y la bruschetta siempre están en el punto también. El personal es muy amable y siempre me siento bienvenido cada vez que voy. No podría calificar este lugar más alto! Amor amor amor es xxx

Recently wanted a family meal at late notice. Even though the restaurant was not open until the evening they responded quickly to my call around midday and we were booked in. Small and inviting Azzuro has a menu that’s not too big but yet had plenty of choice. Between us we had a range of starters and main courses that were all cooked to perfection . I had the Tuscan style chicken livers on crostini to start followed by butternut squash, ricotta cheese and spinach cannelloni, both of which were so so tasty. The restaurant had a mixture of larger and smaller parties in and had a lovely welcoming vibe. Having lived in Manchester a number of years I can’t believe I haven’t been here before, I’ll definitely be back.

Had sardines for starter which was really good..the main was average had butternut squash cannonelli but no butternut squash in it..all in all decent place and cosy venue .

Very good gnocchi starter with delicious plump mussels but the star was the rib eye main which was cooked perfectly and well rested with a very moorish herb topping . Definitely coming back

Nos mudamos a la zona hace poco y necesitábamos un buen restaurante italiano auténtico. Encontramos esta pequeña joya y no podríamos haber estado más satisfechos! La comida es absolutamente excelente, y el servicio es excepcional. Realmente se puede decir que se enorgullecen de ofrecer comida italiana de alta calidad. Teníamos el arrancador muscular que era hermoso. Tuve la albóndiga linguini principal (que recomiendo encarecidamente - pasta perfectamente preparada y la salsa para morirse!) Y mi compañero tenía lubina. ¡Perfección!

A real nice change to the usual flipping of tables. "Stay relax" is the mantra, and when the food and atmosphere is this good.... why not?? One of the best crab dishes I've ever eaten followed by sea bass which was superb.. and finished with a rather good brownie. Will definitely be eating here again

We had a family meal here and were left very disappointed! The steak was overcooked (they didn't charge us for this as we sent it back), the chicken was dry and everything else was very underwhelming. Service was also poor, waited an hour and a half for any food to arrive, even though we were on of the first in the restaurant.

This restaurant gets it right every time, exceptional food and service. The octopus salad was just amazing - hope it’s a regular in the menu. One of the best independent restaurants in Didsbury. Thank you for a wonderful evening

Came on a Friday night for a spontaneous meal out, but luckily managed to book a table before we got there as we saw a few people turned away at the door.For starters we ordered the goats cheese and the aubergine bake and shared them between us. Both were delicious! We both had the sea bass special for main course which came served on a bed of crab linguine. Lovely fresh flavours and good portion sizes. We ordered the brownie for dessert, which was nice and gooey and had sour cherries running through it. The service wasn’t the quickest but the restaurant was clearly busy with larger tables and the staff were lovely. We didn’t ever feel like we were left waiting. It was actually quite nice to be able to chat between courses and not feel rushed.Would 100% recommend Azzuro and we’ll definitely be returning next time we are in the area!

Perfect small family restaurant with a super atmosphere. Service was nicely judged attentive without being over the top. And all the food we had was lovely. We did see people turned away. So advisable to book to avoid disappointment. One thing that does puzzle me is that they only seem to open Friday and Saturday evenings. Would have thought in Didsbury would have had to open more days.

Perfecto pequeño restaurante familiar con un super ambiente. El servicio fue muy bien juzgado atento sin exagerar. Y toda la comida que teníamos era preciosa. Vimos a gente rechazada. Muy recomendable reservar para evitar decepciones. Una cosa que me desconcierta es que parece que solo abren los viernes y sábados por la noche. Habría pensado que en Didsbury habría tenido que abrir más días.

I have never been disappointed with a meal from Azzurro. It's such a gem. The service is great, the food is fantastic and it's such a cosy little restaurant. Book in advance, as you can't often just stroll in and get a table. There's something for everyone in there and the specials are always good. Ask the staff for recommendations if you want - they're very knowledgeable.

This is the second visit and it did not disappoint! I had emailed the booking with a personal response, mentioning it was my daughters birthday. On arrival they had placed balloons on the table...what a generous and thoughtful touch!

We visited as a couple on a Friday evening in October. The restaurant is small and cosy with a lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely beautiful, tasty and great value for money. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Fabuloso menú, entorno precioso y agradable ambiente relajado. El chef Emil es muy hospitalario y un gran chef. Reservé una fiesta de Navidad para mi compañía que la visitó durante muchos años desde su primera apertura y el servicio y el estándar siguen siendo exactamente los mismos fabulosos e impecables. Muy recomendable, vale la pena una visita!

Tenía muchas ganas de calificar este restaurante más alto y tuve muchas expectativas después de leer algunos comentarios en google. Desafortunadamente, lo que recibí fue un servicio lento y comida de degustación promedio. La camarera tardó media hora en llegar para tomar nuestro pedido y luego de una llegada lenta de los entrantes, tuvimos que esperar otra hora y media para nuestros platos principales. La pasta era insípida y muy decepcionante. El restaurante es pequeño pero acogedor, por lo que no debería haber una excusa para el servicio extremadamente lento. Debido a esto no volveré, lo cual es una pena.

Amazing food, and the staff were so friendly to us and our toddler. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Al arrancador de berenjena le faltaba sal. El servicio fue muy lento y no nos cuidaron a nosotros (y al otro cliente, creo) adecuadamente. Voy a dar otra oportunidad. . . .

Visited early on Saturday night, friendly welcome, authentic Italian atmosphere.

We’ve been going to Azzurro for months now - it’s the most welcoming, friendly and lovely restaurant to visit. Always warm and cosy due to its smaller size, with exposed brick walls making it attractive and stylish too. The people and owners are endlessly helpful, even putting on our favourite starter on the specials when we requested it (the chicken livers!). The steak night deal is unbeatable and we can’t help but come back week after week. Highly recommend but make sure you book to avoid disappointment - it’s very popular!!

Don’t be fooled by the size of this restaurant, it packs a culinary punch. My personal fave is the chicken liver crostini and the rib eye but they produce the most fantastic seafood! My favourite place in Didsbury!

Cute little Italian restaurant tucked in between the lively bars and pubs of Burton Road. Friendly service, good wine, reasonably priced and my main was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Service was a tad slow but it was a busy Friday night. Highly recommend.

I visited Azzurro with some friends on a Friday evening. Despite a very rude fellow customer trying to dampen our spirits early on, we had a fabulous evening. The service was great and the food delicious. I would really recommend the seabass and the seafood linguine. We loved our evening and I will certainly be back. Thanks Azzurro.

Viajando desde Newcastle y reuniéndonos con nuestro amigo. Una bienvenida muy cálida, nos dejó suficiente tiempo para relajarnos antes de que nos preguntaran si nos gustaría pedir nuestras bebidas. Entonces, de nuevo, el servicio era de primera clase, las buenas bromas del personal te hicieron sentir que te querían allí. La comida era excelente bistec perfecto para mí, mi esposa tenía pollo y nuestra amiga es vegetariana y algo que disfrutó totalmente. Excelente lugar para pequeñas reuniones

Realmente quería a este restaurante más alto. Reservamos para un viernes por la noche hace un par de semanas. La comida es muy buena, y por eso estábamos tan decepcionado con el servicio. Tardaron más de una hora para los entrantes para llegar (después de unos 20 minutos esperando a la orden) y luego a otros 30 / 40 minutos de los principales campos y aunque no en una particular prisa fue entonces tarde. Puede haber sido una mala noche, pero me temo que nos ha disuadido de ir de nuevo, lo cual es una pena.

Friendly neighbourhood Italian and always a great experience; love the whole sea bream and seafood gnocchi.

This place is a little West Didsbury gem. We made a reservation via the website and visited on a busy Friday night in July. The food was divine - very authentic Italian and beautifully presented. Be prepared to have a none rushed evening as, although the service was generally great, the busyness of the restaurant meant the two waitresses serving were a little stretched (but still attentive). We will definitely be returning.

Booked last minute on a Saturday evening for a romantic dinner. Had the perfect evening and would definitely recommend. Service is quite slow but we much prefer this as we were able to spend most of the evening there. Staff are lovely and friendly. Reasonably priced for the high quality of ingredients - we had two starters (bruschetta & goats cheese), the steak (highly recommend) and the sea bass linguine (also lovely if you prefer a more delicate taste), 4 glasses of wine, £60. Would definitely come back, thanks!
