Caramello of Didsbury in Manchester

This was my first time coming here. I got a caramello English, I received this which included a DEAD fly. The waiters/waitresses/chef did not look at the full plate before handing this out. This is very disappointing and very unprofessional of them. Furthermore this is very harmful and against the law under the Food Safety Act 1990 S7 to not sell food that is unsafe for consumption. I would not recommend going to this place at all. Save your money and don’t bother going here!!!!!!!!

I came on a quiet weekday afternoon. Staff were friendly however the hot chocolate was a let down, marshmallows tasted stale and the hot chocolate tasted like hot milk. I got a breakfast which I enjoyed and I will give this place a second chance and try their sweet options as I’m hoping this was an off day

The best place to have an artisanal ice cream in Didsbury. Nice atmosphere and great service. I love it. Next time I will have lunch, because the dishes I have just seen are amazing.

the food was absolutely jaw dropping. the presentation was amazing and neat, very well designed😍. the lotus biscoff croffle was absolutely banging and if you come here, i would definitely recommend this and the service was amazing aswell, everyone was kind and helpful. loved the food, service and atmosphere.

This was honestly the BEST food I have eaten in a long time. We had the steak and avocado and eggs royale as well as their cinnamon French toast and pistachio French toast. Everything was absolutely divine and the staff were all so friendly and lovely. I wish we lived closer - I'm sure we'd be here all the time! Thank you for a wonderful brunch!

Buscando algún lugar en Didsbury para conocer a un amigo elegí Caramello principalmente porque el interior se veía muy inteligente a partir de las fotos en su sitio web. Al entrar me sorprendió ver que el interior del café Didsbury de abajo no reflejaba en absoluto las fotos del sitio web: la decoración era bastante anticuada, y aunque los accesorios limpios mostraban signos de edad, había muy poco espacio entre mesas, y, debido a que el café estaba ocupado, los que esperaban una mesa se quedaron muy cerca de nuestra mesa cerca de la puerta. Esperamos un tiempo a que se tomara nuestra orden, así que finalmente mi amigo fue al mostrador, pero le dijeron que se sentara y alguien tomaría nuestra orden, pero esperamos más de cinco minutos para que esto sucediera. Pedí las setas silvestres en masa madre (£ 12. 50 ) que venía muy bien adornado, sin embargo al probar los hongos apenas estaban tibios lo que fue realmente decepcionante. Este café es muy popular, pero parece que la experiencia del cliente puede sufrir en momentos en que está muy ocupado. Los precios de Caramello parecen ser ligeramente más altos que los de otros cafés Didsbury, y por esto habría esperado razonablemente un entorno más agradable que los de su sucursal de Didsbury, que no eran diferentes a muchos cafés de la calle principal. Dicho todo lo anterior me gustaría volver en un día / hora en que estaban menos ocupados para probar uno de sus desayunos cocinados que se veía muy bien.

Nice space with seating both downstairs and upstairs. Starting with the positives, the pistachio French toast was excellent and the presentation was spot on. The chicken waffles were just okay, looked better than they tasted. I’d recommend sticking to the sweet dishes, as they seem to excel in that area. The staff were friendly but seemed overwhelmed during busy times. We visited when it was quite busy and had to wait for about 15 minutes before being seated, though they kindly offered us the option to wait inside due to bad weather. Once seated, we were informed that food would take 30 minutes to arrive, which was fine for us but the overall atmosphere felt tense due to the staff being visibly stressed. Would recommend visiting during less busy times if possible for you

Nice place but wow the place looks sad. Needs some refurbishment. Absolutely freezing in the place too. The patisserie fridge just looked poor. The desserts in there were dry and stale. The place Needs some love and definitely a good clean.

Was recommended by a friend but honestly was left disappointed. Although the food was beautifully presented, it just wasn't quite right. Chicken nice but could tell was from frozen, and salmon was covered in balsamic glaze that just completely overpowered the dish. The spinach under the salmon was boiled without seasoning and so soaked through to the soft cheese and bread underneath which made it unpleasant to eat. The place was lacking an atmosphere, just couldn't put my finger on it. Staff were lovely, coffee was amazing. I think this is more suited to a desert place (unfortunately didn't have any but pastries etc looked amazing) but was definitely let down with the brunch food quality.

The food here is great and the service is good. The coffee is amazing (one of the best I’ve had in the UK).

Walked in and this very rude lady told us abruptly to go wait outside in the cold and wet weather even though it wasnt busy and there was space to wait indoors..we were stood outside for 5minutes..awful service..it just spolt the mood..then we asked to place an order and the same lady said we will take your order in 5minutes..there's a way to speak and this lady was so rude, never coming here again..it just put us off the food..

Today was the first visit i made to Carmello cafe in Didsbury and I must say I enjoyed my experience. The cafe is nice, cosy and small, it has a comfort vibe to it. I ordered a pistachio french toast while my friend ordered their smashed avocado and berry french toast. The food was on point and so was their drinks. I'd definitely recommend this as a place for breakfast/lunch/brunch

Esta es una pequeña joya linda en Didsbury, la comida era encantadora, y el servicio era encantador y amable. Fue agradable saber que toda la comida es halal, así que no estábamos limitados a lo que podríamos tener. Tuvimos el desayuno inglés con salchichas de pollo y un desayuno vegetariano, que fue impresionante. Me gustó especialmente el haloumi, y nunca he probado salchichas vegetarianas, pero definitivamente las volvería a tener de aquí! Después de nuestra comida compartimos un croissant de pistacho que era delicioso! El estómago no lo permitiría o habríamos probado la tostada francesa que vimos a la gente al otro lado de la habitación teniendo, se veían fabulosos y esperamos volver para darles una oportunidad! La tienda en sí es agradable, limpio y presentable, hay asientos arriba, pero como nos sentamos abajo no estoy seguro de cómo es la capacidad, pero viendo en instagram de otras personas es un lugar "gravable" para aquellos que les gusta bloguear! Nota: Hay un pequeño aparcamiento justo enfrente de Caramellos, pero estaba bastante lleno. Gracias por la experiencia encantadora a todo el personal de Caramello, esperamos volver a visitar pronto!

Everything was good when we entered. We were seated upsatirs which was nice and spacious. My husband had ordered the english breakfast and i ordered the popular steak tacos. When it came out it looked amazing and presented nice. After the first taco i thought nice but could of had more flavours but still nice. Then rest of the steak was just so chewy like it was well done. I didnt want to say anything until my husband noticed me not eating and asked why so i told him that its too chewy. He then called a member off staff to tell them the issue but nothing got resolved. We went down and paid and my husband had to explain everthing that happened but they didnt even satisfy us but gave us a merely 10% discount. I left here hungry after my husband had spent £40 odd pounds after the discount. Very disappointed in them that they couldnt even do what they should do. Want be gking here again.

Have to admit it was well worth the long drive to this gem of a place, the cafe is in a beautiful little spot of Didsbury, bursting with life and people. The brunch was delicious, succulant and captures all the flavours at once as well as presentation was on point, the pistacchi croissant was my highlight, also had a moment to endulge in the french toast special with pistacchio pieces, sauce and sweetness, will be coming here again or I may try the one in wilsmlow for the sunday roast.....

Rude staff today, we arrived this morning and the young white lad at the door, the moment we stepped in asked us to wait outside in a bad tone.

Been here few times and the food has always been amazing, beautifully presented. Recently tried the steak and avocado paired with an egg and mushrooms, that was really good!

i’ve been here multiple times over the last few years and it never disappoints me, the presentation of the food is always so nice and it tastes amazing. I think it’s the best cafe i’ve ever been to. if you’re thinking of coming here, just go !!!

Food was lovely, but defaulting to a 20% service charge on breakfast seems excessive (options were 15%, 20% and 25%). Probably won't return to dine in due to this.

This is a cute little gem in Didsbury,the food was lovely, and the service was lovely and friendly. It was nice to know that all the food is halal, so we weren't limited to what we could have. We had the English breakfast with chicken sausages and a vegetarian breakfast, which was stunning. I especially enjoyed the haloumi, and I've never had vegetarian sausages, but I would definitely have them again from here! Following our meal we shared a pistachio croissant which was mouthwatering delicious!The stomach wouldn't allow it or we'd have tried the french toast we seen the people across the room having,they looked fabulous and we look forward to returning to give them a try! The shop itself is nice, clean and presentable, there's seating upstairs but as we sat downstairs I'm not sure what the capacity is like but seeing on other people's instagram it's a "gramworthy" spot for those who like to blog! Sidenote:There's a little carpark just opposite Caramellos, but it was quite packed. Thank you for the lovely experience to all the Caramello staff, we look forward to visiting again soon!

I had a delivery for them. It was a very hot day and I decided to have an ice cream. They offered me a passion fruit ice cream and it was delicious. Friendly and helpful staff.

One of the best french toast I have ever eaten in my entire life. Tiramisu French Toast....gooey from inside and crispy from outside, perfect coffee flavoured with a twist of pistachio cream! Made better with a beautiful butterfly 🦋 decor of the cafe.

Went for Sunday brunch not long ago. Beautiful hidden little gem inspired by the mediterean displayed by the artwork and floral decorations inside. It wasn't long before we were seated after waiting outside. Staff were polite and knowledgeable of the menu. I will visit again for a sweet treat as freshly baked brioche sounds wonderful. My only reason on not giving a 5 star is where we were seated was right next to the back door(which is not a problem) the issue was the door could have door with a nice clean to enhance my dining experience making me feel more comfortable.

Decided to try this place after finding it on Instagram. Once we got inside we weren’t keen on the options so decided to just order coffee instead. We were very polite about this and said we’d decided to just get drinks. Whilst paying for our coffee, the girl that served us (black hair and a septum ring) came out from the back with I’m assuming the chef, they both looked at us around the corner, clearly in mid discussion about us, and eye rolled “just a coffee” to each other. They made it very obvious that they were talking about us and I couldn’t believe it when they stuck their heads out for a look as we were leaving… We ordered coffee to be polite as we didn’t just want to leave without ordering anything. So rude. Headed up the road for Gail’s instead. Upsetting service.

Just feel like this place was not what it used to be. Charcoal lattes and delicious cookies are no more, it feels like it’s not an independent anymore and more like any other chain. Sad :(

Definitely overrated and overhyped Food always takes long and *some* of the staff seem to be a little rude Atmosphere is quite bad tbh tables are so close to each other you can fully hear other people's conversations And overpriced in my personal opinion Interior is actually quite bland and boring too if you actually take time to look around

Just ordered a chicken burger , and chips . We got our food after 55 mins of waiting , burger was burnt edges were really over cooked , so much sauce was on the burger the chicken was just falling of the bun . Onion were supposed to be caramelised , but were so burnt so much that became bitter to carry on eating , managed to eat some of the burger by taking off the burned onions and edges and try to eat middle part . Chips were so stale and overly oily . For the price and quality of food aswell as service I wouldn’t come here again , waiting times are really long from 12 pm to 2:40 we were at this resturant . I hope things can change for future .

Halal breakfast and brunch options are great but quite expensive

Best French toast I’ve ever had! Went on a Sunday morning with my friend, we were seated straightaway and a friendly waitress took our order. Lots of choice on the menu! We ordered berry French toast and the special pistachio tiramisu French toast. The food arrived quickly and looked almost too good to eat! Can’t fault the presentation! Generous portions and really tasty. Can’t wait to come back!

Went in with my mum and my little one for breakfast. Staff were very lovely and kind. Food and drinks were tasty. We sat upstairs , atmosphere was relaxing. The only thing i would suggest is to get an extra high chair for babies as we got none (only 2 which were used) and eating with 1 year old on your lap is not ideal.

The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, and the seating upstairs was quite spacious and very nicely decorated. And, I liked how it was such a family friendly environment, with so many families dining in as well. The service overall was average/normal, however some workers were quiet rude, with one being confrontational over leaving our umbrella in the basket - instead of explaining why we should, he kept insisting we had to. Also, after waiting 50 minutes in the rain, once we got in, there were no pleasant welcomings or any 'thank you for your wait' type of pleasantries, it was a simple 'your seats are upstairs' and we had to guess which seats were ours. Another point, when it started raining while we were in the queue outside, they initially offered us umbrellas, but then everyone else who joined the queue afterwards had no idea about them and were using their jackets to keep themselves dry, one person we even had to tell ourselves to go inside and ask for an umbrella. Food was very sub par, I ordered a £12 shakshuka which arrived with one egg, and a hot cast iron skillet. The tissue was under the skillet, which meant I was expected to hold the hot iron handle and lift the skillet to get to it. The skillet was also quite small and deep, which meant trying to scoop out some of the shakshuka with the bread was awkward and I'd occasionally touch my hand on the hot skillet. The shakshuka presentation overall looked nice for an insta story, but is clearly poorly thought out for the eating process, especially with bread. Coffee was also sub-par, I ordered a flat white which was very watery and weak. Also from my point of view, coffee is a drink best enjoyed either alongside or after a meal, not before, which is how they served it. Unfortunately this meant by the time the food had arrived, my coffee was already cold.

Lovely gem of a place hidden away in Didsbury. We were brave enough to take the kids with us and it was wonderful and child friendly. Elliott was very helpful and knew the menu well. Service with a smile is what we love and service with a smile is what we got! We ordered a full english, Shakshuka and Steak and eggs for our meals and we ordered the following drinks: apple juice, lemonade, frappucino and ferrero rocher milkshake. All food was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Even the fussy kids gobbled it all up! Excellent customer service and very friendly welcoming staff. Elliott and Jim (hope i spelt that right?) were excellent. Thank you for the amazing food and memorable service. We will definitely be back again soon. PS: chocolate ice creams were a big hit in this lovely hot weather!

So my friend and I were stood in the queue for ages not realising that, if you just want to get something to takeaway, you can head straight to the counter. The sign outside confused us! The sweet treat I got was a caramel-filled delight (see pic).

We didn't have a booking and we had to wait for 20 mins or so to get in. Can see why there was a queue. The food was amazing. We tried the Caramello breakfast and the smashed avocado meal. Delicious high quality ingredients. We didn't get a dessert but eyed them up on other people tables. We will be back to try them out!

My first time having breakfast here. I was really amazed by the food and friendly atmosphere. I ordered the Caramello English and it was really tasty, especially the sausages. The customer service was lovely. Definitely would go again!

This is truly a MAGICAL place! The owner/ chef clearly thinks out of the box! The dishes looks amazing and tastes even better! Defo must go try EVEN if it’s few drive! Make a day of it, go for a long drive, grab brunch, talk about it all the way back!

We have just visited CARAMELLO in Wilmslow for breakfast with friends. What a lovely experience. We were warmly welcomed and drinks order taken quickly whilst we waited for friends to arrive. The food, service, ambience all first class. The presentation of the food was so professional. We’ll be back. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and service as usual

An Instagram type cafe, good for photos of food, but awful staff and awful service doesn't guarantee a good time at the cafe. This cafe made me realise I'd rather fast over the day or go elsewhere in Manchester than go here again. Hire better staff and make your paying customers feel welcome.

Absolutely a hidden gem. Food was spot on. The staff were very helpful.

I ordered medium rare steak and it arrived medium/medium well. It was incredibly Chewie. The chef refused to accept it was not medium rare. The waiter did take it off the bill but I was given the same plate of food back and it had gone cold and the steak was inedible. I was not able to order anything else to replace the meal as the kitchen had closed. The cafe closes at 5pm, but we were not aware the kitchen closes at 4pm. We let the waitress know we would like tea after the meal and she said that’s fine she’ll be back up to take the order but no waiters or waitresses came upstairs to check or try and take the tea order. Instead they came up at 4:55 and said they’re closing. The French toast tasted more like dry cake would not reccomend.

May have been an rule to the exception however; Service was slow French brioche was stodgy & dry! Rather expensive. Not fussed if I didn't go again.

I have been visiting Caramello in Didsbury for a while now. The food there is absolutely divine especially the pistachio croissant and their French toasts. And the coffee is one of the best as well. I love visiting there on Sundays when I go for my walks. But last couple Sundays when I visited I had a really awful service from some staff members there that I thought I would write a review. The Asian boy who seems new and the girl with curly hair and glasses on, both are really rude. They completely kept ignoring us and are all over the place both the time I was there. I know the place gets busy on Sunday and people are queuing but that doesn’t mean they should treat customers like that. Last Sunday I waited almost 45 minutes after being sat on the table just to get my pistachio croissant, pistachio gateau and flat white. Today again the Asian boy just took my order on the counter and then left me there hanging and went to serve another table. They both kept eyeing me both times I was there and felt like intentionally avoiding us which made the whole experience very uncomfortable. All the other guys are usually quite polite and lovely. It’s a shame for me to not give a five stars review to one of the best food place cause of how some of the staff behaves.

PLACE STANK! ground floor seating with no fresh air whatsoever and all you can smell is eggs eggs and eggs. Asked if we could sit upstairs simple no "it's full". The hot chocolate was warm (not hot) but pleasant to drink.

Caramello serves a fantastic English breakfast with all the traditional favourites, and a variety of breakfast choices and hot drinks. Great service. There's a pay and display car park right in front, although gets full quickly.
