Pera - Turkish Mangal & Meze Bar in Edinburgh, City of

Little being the operative word having only about 10 tables. The table turnover was high with good, fast Turkish food. We had a mixture of starters followed by kebabs which tasted great. The is no alcohol served but you can bring your own.

Great food, lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. We eat at Pera quite frequently and have never come away disappointed. As it is BYOB and we bring along our beverages of choice, it is also extremely reasonable. Highly recommend!

We're Edinburgh locals and this is one of our favourite spots. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is cosy and authentic. Ate there tonight and had the Banquet for Two - hot and cold starters lovely and lamb cooked to perfection. A tiny gem on Leith Walk. Highly recommended.

Bit of a rustic feel upon entering! Dark and dingy downstairs to the rest rooms, needs a bit of fresh air in the basement. Not the best view on the way down the stairs you pass the kitchen area, not the worst I’ve seen, not the cleanest. Service was fine and welcoming. Food was awful, cold meze starter was probably all out of a can/shop bought/pre made with one particular smelling absolutely disgusting. Two hot starters were ok, passable, but we come out to eat food we can’t make at home and these two dishes could easily be replicated at home. Bread on the side was ok. Main courses, two kebabs, one lamb and one chicken. With the lamb coming in at £19+ and the chicken at £16+ you would expect more than one skewer with 5 cubes/small pieces of meat. The onions on the side of the plate were not cut fresh that evening and the bulgar wheat and salad were minimal. At nearly £80 this is a firm no.

Great food, friendly atmosphere, would happily recommend. Not rushed and very relaxing place to enjoy our meal. Bring your own bottle too keeps the costs down.

If you’re wanting good food, cozy vibes, and great service this is the place to go. Me and my friends spent 3 hours there just because it was so good.

Been here a few times now and it doesn’t fail to amaze! Both the food and service is amazing! The staff are amazing, always a cracking a joke. Service is impeccable. The food is authentic. Orkun catered for our 70th birthday lunch with a magnificent spread of mezes, grilled meats, salads and sides, not to mention Turkish flatbreads and baklava. All freshly cooked and delicious, and delivered on time. Highly recommended.

Fabulous food and service. We ordered the banquet for 2 and left very full and very happy as it works out a bit of a bargain. The food was amazing, especially the lamb! The fella who served us was welcoming and tentative. He was in good spirits considering the restaurant was pretty busy and he was running the floor on his own! We were still served in good timing nevertheless. If you want a great meal in a cosy spot a little bit away from the hustle and bustle, go to Pera!

This is the best Turkish food I’ve eaten since my trip to Beyoglu/Istanbul. Everything is made fresh to order. Subtly flavored mezes, lamb stew that melts in your mouth, and killer kunefe for dessert. All with very generous portions at reasonable prices. By The owner/chef is delightful, as is the staff. Don’t miss it!

Simple and delicious Turkish food. Beautifully spiced and perfectly grilled. This restaurant looks nothing from the outside and is small and basic inside but the food is simple and delicious. It's run by the owner/chef/waiter so things may take a little time but it's worth the wait. No drinks licence so bring your own if you want any or stop by one of the off-licences nearby

Fantastic food! So good to go to a small, friendly establishment with a real love of food, as opposed to all these chains of restaurants that we all see around us. Great "homemade" food served with attention and humour. What more could you want!

We were their with family. The waitress was very friendly and suggested that as it was our first time we might want to try the Sultan's banquet. We opted to do this and were delighted we had. There was lots (and I mean lots) to eat, all of it of a very high standard and beautifully cooked. The waitress explained what each course was. We were not rushed and were able to take our time and really enjoy the food. I would happily recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed (or hungry).

Enjoyed our first experience at Pera! Small and friendly BYOB meze bar. We ordered 2 tasty banquets for 4 of us. Plenty of tasty food accompanied by 2 freshly baked loaves of bread. Lovely cosy atmosphere and very welcoming and friendly waitress and chef. Thoroughly recommend and we will most definitely return! Refreshing change to visit a local restaurant who appreciates your business unlike the many chain eateries.

We had a fabulous meal here. We were super hungry after a long train journey so had the banquet option. The food was plentiful, so fresh and piping hot and really really tasty. Service was great considering the gentleman was doing everything himself! 100% recommend.
