The best Korean restaurant in Edinburgh, or in the UK

Really friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The food was great, well flavoured and really good value.

I've been to many Korean restaurants in the UK and this was by far the best. It was more delicious than the Korean food I ate in Korea. We ate grilled pork belly and seasoned bulgogi, and the quality of the meat was very good, and the kimchi stew was clean and spicy, perfect for our taste (if you're Korean, they made it to suit Korean tastes!). The galbitang was thick and rich. The owner and staff were all friendly. I don't often leave reviews, but this was a place I definitely wanted to leave!

There wasn’t a single thing bad about the restaurant. It is placed in a sketchy location but don’t be deterred couldn’t rate this place enough if I tried great for families too.

Staff were so polite and made my family feel welcomed. I have visited korean bbq restaurants before but nothing like this food was 10/10 will definitely be back!

We didn't have a reservation, but the waitress managed to squeeze us in. It was my first kbbq, and they were all very lovely! One waitress prepared a mix of beer and soju in the traditional manner and the manager(?) Showed my mum how to eat her food; she even sent us off with a handful of sweets 😁 Wonderful staff and great food. Just beware the toilets are downstairs and it's a small restaurant, so not very -if at all- wheelchair accessible.

I went to this Korean restaurant on the last day of my trip to Edinburgh, and it was so delicious that if I had gone there on the first day, I would have gone here every day. The amount of pork belly is really large, and the soft tofu in particular seems to be more delicious than what you get in Korea. I packed some stir-fried squid to eat as a snack at my accommodation, and it was really delicious. The owner is really kind~~ I'll probably travel to Edinburgh again in the summer, so I'll definitely stop by again then!!

Me and my family loved it, and it tasted awesome!!!!!!!! The service was good my mom said, I don’t really remember though. But still it was great! Recommended.

Our waitress was so nice and helpful! We had never had Korean BBQ before and she explained the process to us and was very pleasant! The food was so delicious!!

How dare this place be so good? I'm in awe. We had the best time here, everyone is so fast and kind. We had the assortment of meats and it was incredibly delicious. Salads get refilled twice. Rice and kimchi has to be ordered separately but definitely recommend, this kimchi was one of the best I've tried. There are some hard working women behind this place, which makes this place even cooler. Thank you for the amazing experience! And the candy. ❤

Amazing Kbbq. Table is a bit small so I recommend ordering bit by bit so that you have space. Food was great tho, really felt authentic like back home :). A great place to bring your friends and family. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We had this Malaysian girl who served us and she was very kind. Offered to put our dishes at another table cuz our table couldn't fit it. She was also very attentive. Great service :D

So so delicious and great value for money! Good vibes in atmosphere. Our waitress explained everything very kindly and clearly (my first Korean bbq), and we had a lovely conversation with her after the meal! 10/10 would recommend. Definitely going to come back. :)

It's the perfect meal. I'm so lucky to be here in the high culture of eating out in the United Kingdom. On the 7th day of my trip, I missed the food in my home country and felt the pride of Korean food in a restaurant full of locals. The food is so high quality, delicious and neat. The staff welcomes all the guests and responds right away. What an amazing restaurant that is so cost-effective! I travel abroad a lot and don't often go to Korean restaurants, but when I arrived in Edinburgh and it was cold 🥹, I went there to soothe my tired body and mind, and it was an amazing comfort. The pork belly is really filling and the meat is good. I feel happy when I put a piece of pork belly with wheat in my mouth 😍 The food was clean and the staff were very friendly, so I had a pleasant meal with steamed rice :) I heard that eating out in the UK is dead, but it was so cheap 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 If you have trouble deciding what to eat during your trip to Edinburgh, just go right away. Please 🙏🏻 P.S Reservations are required if you visit during dinner time ~ We were the only Koreans in the crowded restaurant on a Wednesday evening😂 This is a local restaurant.

Myself and three friends popped in for a meal on Saturday night and though we didn’t have a reservation, the lovely woman who greeted us at the door managed to accommodate us! The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant was really pleasant. Special shoutout to the young boy doing his first day of work experience; you were adorable and did a great job! I recommend making a reservation for sure because we could have really missed out on this gem of a restaurant if there wasn’t a way to get our little group in! Thanks for the nice evening ☺️

This was the beat Korean BBQ! We came from England to celebrate our engagement, but this was just a wonderful, cosy, meal. The place was like a family atmosphere. I felt like my "unni" was literally my sister...I refuse to call her my Auntie! Everyone was so lovely and when trying to make sure our Korean was correct, it was a casual lesson on what to say so thank you so much! I honestly had the blues when we left to go home! I can't wait to come back to do this again!

I visited here because I really missed spicy soup while traveling with my mom, and it was so delicious! I ordered pork belly and soft tofu stew. The pork belly was generous and the quality was good even though it was frozen. The soft tofu stew was spicy and refreshing to suit Korean tastes, so I really enjoyed it haha. Above all, I liked the fact that the owner and the staff were really friendly, always smiling, and had a good impression! Thanks to you, I can finish the rest of my trip well haha. Next time I come to Edinburgh, I definitely want to come back!!

This BBQ place is a 10 out of 10 for me. Good food and very friendly staffs. We reserved a table beforehand and were met with super warm welcome. I was happy with everything we ordered. Compared to a lot of Korean BBQ restaurants in Europe this one really is worth getting your hair smelly. I’d love for the kimchi soup to be a tad more sour, but it was tasty nonetheless. Certainly going to be back again and again.

A lovely place to have a solo dinner . But kimchi was little bit tasteless should be improved otherwise food and service was excellent. Will be visiting again.

Kimchi soup is very delicious. Everything is delicious. It's like eating in Korea. There are many menus, good service staff, ordering as a set, very good value, very filling. Recommended.

Me and my boyfriend went down to Edinburgh this week with the sole intention of coming here for dinner. We had been last year and it was incredible. Definitely a must try if you're in the area. Amazing selection of Korean dishes and beverages. The kkanpunggi is one of my favourite dishes here (me and my boyfriend have to get a plate each!) Service is incredible too, the lady that primarily served us was so kind and attentive, this applied to all the staff too who were serving the other customers too! Definitely recommend to anyone I know that is planning on going to Edinburgh whether they have tried Korean BBQ or not

This is fast becoming my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. I’ve had the BBQ menu each time I’ve been & being able to cook your own food on a grill within your table is a really great and unique experience & creates such a positive atmosphere in the restaurant - made even better if you are sharing a range of meats with friends. It was our first experience with Korean food. We got the Meat assorted bbq for 2. Jin was amazing the whole time, so was the rest of the staff. Food was amazing, so were the portions and the final SoMac. Cannot wait to go back!!

A very lovely place to eat korean BBQ! Their beef is local and absolutely delicious, the prices are totally fine for what you get. The waiters are very nice and we had some good chats with them even though I still feel kind of sorry for ruining the little chews for one of the waiters because of what's in it 😂 We hope we can get back to the restaurant when we'll be in Edinburgh one day again!

I came here ages ago and I forgot do give a review but it defenatly deserves a one. The service and food was amazing and the lovely waitress saw me having a little emotional moment and proceeded to give me sweets to cheer me up. Was the kindest thing ever. Thanks xx

Went here a couple months ago but forgot to leave a review. The atmosphere and getting to cook your own food was a cosy and enjoyable experience. we were also served by a really lovely waitress who was very helpful about recommendations and portions. she also gave us some sweets once we were paying our bill and throughout the whole dinner was extremely generous and kind with smiles.

This place is amazing, great for small groups 4-6. Meat eaters will be very happy. Also, the chilli -soybean paste is absolutely amazing. Such a great experience and the staff were really funny and insightful on the cuisine. Can't wait to go again.

최고의 식당입니다. 한국분이 운영하는 식당이라 그런지 먼저 마늘과 고추를 준비해주셨고, 삼겹살은 냉동이었지만 두껍고 퀄리티가 괜찮았습니다.(냉동이라는 점도 미리 주문 시에 말씀주셨습니다. 소고기가 더 괜찮다고 권해주셨으나 여행 중 한식에 목말랐던 저희는 삼겹으로 주문했어요.) 여러모로 세심한 배려와 매너에 감동이었습니다. 다음에 또 뵙고 싶네요!

The bbq is absolutely amazing, staff were so lovely made me feel at home! The food was so great but the service was even better, staff were so involved!

I would give 0 star to the services received if I could. Can’t believe the attitude we had from the waitress who speaks fluent Chinese ( maybe she is the boss?or someone related). No customer services at all, however do see a big difference when it comes to serving local customers. How sad is that. I feel shame for her. NEVER come here if you are Asian too. You WILL receive NO services with average food. Update: The owner replied in Korean. I don’t know what she/he is trying to say but bad service is bad service and treating customers differently is the truth.

What an unbelievable evening. We weren't sure what to expect but we weren't expecting that. From the start the staff were very enthusiastic and extremely helpful when it came to the menu and how to authenticly eat Korean food. The experience of cooking your own meats was a joy to behold and partnered with the wonderfully prepared accompaniments added to an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend this hidden gem and I will definitely return.

You know when you stumble across somewhere and know someone is looking out for you? We were in need of food on our trip to Edinburgh and with such choice in the area it is difficult to choose. We were driving through and decided to stop the car, park up and try it. So pleased we did. The vibe, drinks, and of course food was top quality and delicious. Great value really for two people with the amount of food you get in the set meals. Staff all so lovely too. Really recommend and mate sure you get their kimchi, very authentic and delicious!

Women who works there needed some serious customer service training. Matter of fact … they treat Asian/Chinese customers differently when it comes to locals/ white people Shockingly not just me feeling the same way as previous customers review showing the same outcome. I used to go to this Chinese owned Korean restaurant few times with my local friend and was satisfied with the service until today when I came with couple of my Asian friends and we have been treated completely different. My advice for the people who reading this before they planing going (Don’t go (if you’re Asian) as you will have a terrible customer service.

맛있습니다. 근데 한국에서 먹는 한식과는 조금 다른 느낌입니다. 재료와 대상고객이 다르니 당연한거겠죠. 돌솥밥, 된장찌개, 불고기 시켰는데 돌솥밥을 특히 맛있게 먹었습니다. 된장찌개는 조금 개운한 맛이 떨어지더라구요. 근데 위치가 중심지랑은 거리가 좀 있어서.. 버스 타시는걸 추천드립니다.

Ordered the bbq beef bulgoogi and pork bibimbap. The beef was so tender and delicious. All the sauces and seasoning were excellent. They were very kind to hold our reservation. Had a lovely meal and the service was really quick.

Had a fantastic spread of food, and was welcomed in to the Korean culture by being show the traditional way of having SoMac. Truly incredible experience topped off by delicious food, what more could you want! Can’t recommend highly enough.

My boyfriend and i went for some lunch here, we ordered the Chicken Dumplings, Boneless Beef Ribs, Pork Belly Slices, Spicy Squid and Teriyaki Chicken. The Boneless Beef Ribs, Spicy Squid and Pork Belly Slices were all part of the BBQ menu, which you cook yourself in the grill in the middle of the table. For the BBQ menu items you also receive free bean sprouts, lettuce leaves, radish, cabbage etc. This place is amazing value for money and amazing food too!! Staff are fairly friendly and can give great recommendations. There’s also a great selection of drinks!!

Fantastic selection of food, staff was very friendly. Great experience of cooking the meat yourself at the table grill. Enjoyed the food so much that burned some of the food accidentally by leaving meat too long on the grill so the place had to be ventilated a little bit :P Definitely recommend visiting.

Nous cherchions un restaurant asiatique et au décours d une ruelle nous avons été attirés par les bonnes odeurs qui en émanait. Nous n avions jamais mangé de bbq coréen et nous nous sommes régalés . Le personnel a pris le temps de tout nous expliquer lentement notre anglais n étant pas parfait. On nous a même conseillé de ne prendre que 2 bbq pour 4 alors que nous étions 5, notre dernier n ayant que 10ans. Les repas étant très copieux c était largement suffisant. Très bon rapport qualité / prix. Nous avons passé une excellente soirée, les enfants étaient émerveillés et le personnel à nos soins . Merci Virginiem

Extensive menu. Lots of good choices but we managed to choose well with the advice from a very supportive waitress. It was Korean beef bbq. In the middle of the table we had a grill. Shortly after placing the order we got three types of marinated beef (including sirloin) on a big dish. It was accompanied with several little bowls of fermented vegetables and sauces. The whole process of grilling our own meal was entertaining and savoury. It was so tasty that we started talking to the waitress about different marinades and Korean food. We got to know that it was her sister who was very skilful preparing the meat and the marinade. Our lunch was relaxed, entertaining and tasty. The bill was under £40. We definitely recommend it.

Barbeque was good taste and I enjoyed the food.kimchi could be improved(felt bit blant), but overall happy with food..However it was not fair to impose mandatory 10 percent service charges without prior intimation. We are okay to pay it even then, but it is not fair to charge it without prior knowledge. But yes food was authentic Korean and felt happy to have it.

Great place for Korean food in Edinburgh The prices are not too crazy and the food is good! Definitely recommend the BBQ option, but bibimbap, pancakes and kimchi jjigae are yummy as well

Visited here 5th of August First time in Korean restaurant of this kind Food was good served in a hot pot bowl which was really good Full of flavours and textures Japanese lemonade was rather good not to overpowering Staff at times felt a bit grumpy but told this norm for Korean attitudes but certainly not a reason not to go though would gave rated better if more friendly

The overall experience was bad for us. We felt the chicken texture like it was frozen before. The beef tastes funny, and the rice has no seasoning at all! Not even some salt! The sides were horrible, and we literally went out without touching most of the food! On top of that, for 2 dishes, we spent 44£

What a brilliant find. Amazingly delicious food and very helpful staff. Highlight was that you get to cook your own meats on an inlaid grill set in your table!
