Pepe's in Birmingham

The chicken burgers are amazing let’s make that very clear I can’t lie even better than McDees in my opinion! However, I brought 3 chicken burgers, 3 chips & 3 drinks which would of cost less if they as workers and as a company told you as customers that it’s 5.49 if you were to buy the kids meal it may be a slight cheaper option for people as it was way over £25 when I could of saved myself some ££ this day and age everyone looks/wants a bargain however you should be vocal with your customers, tell them it’s cheaper this way but money really TALKS. Of course they won’t tell us to buy it as a kids meal they want the money but in this economy it’s crazy business. I would be a returning customer but I won’t be! 11 hours after eating this me and my husband got food poisoning.. that’s grim you know because how surely if it’s cooked proper we wouldn’t be bent over the toilets tryna calling 111 for help.. unless the cleaning of hands and general hygiene isn’t kept right? Either way.. That’s disgusting! £14 for two rice box meals just to get food poisoning must be some sort of secret ingredient because it didn’t state food poisoning will follow you eleven hours after. Ha.

There was a bug inside food and i ask staff they quickly took off and said its charcoal and they through out and ‘where was bug where was bug’ trying to be claver but I had picture. Can see properly Bug on plate. Rude staff

Food has slipped in quality and now overpriced. Also no level of concern for customer care. Upon my last visit I asked for the tomato to be left out because I had an allergy. The person in the kitchen shouted just ask them to take it out. (Meaning that never mind my allergies I should just remove it after it’s already been added) really poor customer service. Quite frustrating.

[WARNING] Made a phone order told it would be 10 minutes got to the shop and im made to wait another 10 minutes. Watching my food get prepared and paying attention i seen the worker dropped the chicken fillet on the floor and put it back in my order thinking i didnt see Wallahi [I swear by Allah] Like it was normal procedure nasty and disgusting.They think its acceptible to play with peoples food like that and put peoples health at risk. If i never witnessed this i would of eaten it without knowing. The same unhygienic employee makes me a new order and uses the same tongs he used to pick the fillet of the floor without changing or cleaning it that they use to prepare and handle everyones food. How this shop has a 5 star hygiene rating is mad. Cancelled my order got a refund staff/manager didnt seem bothered shows their hygiene and practices, what type of staff they employ and what they think of their customers. The employee should of been sacked on the spot. never eating from here again used to be a regular here aswel as my friends and family. I dont normally write reviews just want to warn people what i witnessed with my own eyes who knows how many times this has happened before or will happen in the future. How hard was it to explain to me what happened throw the food in the bin change gloves/wash your hands and equipment then remake my order? dont pepes train or monitor their staff? Are they told to do that by the manager/owner? like if they make a mistake it comes out the workers wages? Reported to Food Standards Agency. They try to drown out real genuine reviews with fake paid/bot 5* reviews dont fall for it

UPDATED: The true home of Pepe's Piri Piri chicken. Birmingham's No. 1 Branch. The tastiest, spiciest and freshly prepared chicken. It's flamed to perfection and delicious from the 1st to the 1,000,000'th order. The nail in the coffin for Nandos. This is where it all truly begins. This branch occupies two units, perfect for family and small groups. It's very comfortable and great for dining-in. Great staff and amazing customer service despite being busy almost all of then time. Mostly open till midnight and even later on weekends.

They really do the best grilled food.When I came here,Arham took my order.He was well mannered and really did take care of my order.The food was really 10/10 and they have one of the best customer service to be honest.

It was my first time order of chicken rice box meal from here and I really enjoyed it. The chicken breast with rice was a nice option, and I liked that you could choose from mild to hot flavours. The fries were crispy outside, soft inside, and not too oily. The order was ready quickly, and the staff were polite. Great meal and good service!

im going to speak to head office / human resources. and the hygiene standards. the workers need to make the food like they are making it for themselves or for their family. they just don’t care 👎🏻 need to fix up

Very disappointed with the wings

Absolutely rubbish. Ordered a meal for over £30 which is extortion in itself for just 3 items. Made we wait for over an hour. Driver was shown on the map on his way. Then he just parked up. A few minutes later the order was cancelled. And I was still charged. I tried calling the restaurant and waited online for 17.5 minutes as caller number 3 in the que. My call not answered and I'm of the opinion the other guys got fed up of waiting and just hung up. They charge through the nose for normal food. We still pay but the part which is most frustrating is making the customer wait for over an hour for food and then cancel without informing why. And then refusing to answer calls to speak to the customer. Definitely my last order.

The father of all Pepe's store. This is where the Pepe's franchise began from. This store is generally very good all round. Food is consistently fresh and made at good standards. Ordered a full chicken with large fries and drink. Order came to £17.50 and was made in about 20 mins or so. There's plenty of seats inside. The staff are very friendly and unlike other stores; are more than happy to throw in a few extra sauces etc.

Disappointing once again!! won’t be ordering ever again. £50 order delivered & I only live 5mins away cold cold fries, fillets over cooked & no flavour whatsoever, chicken & rice totally bland with dried out chicken. What a waste!!

Pepe’s Alum Rock offers a clean, spacious dining area with a nice atmosphere; however, the food left much to be desired. I ordered the chicken and rice meal—while the chicken was flavorful and well-cooked, and the fries were as good as fries can be, the rice was undercooked turning what should have been a convenient takeout meal into something closer to a “home-cooked” meal, as I had to re-prep the rice to make it edible. Pepe’s Alum Rock could be a great spot, but for now, it fell short for me. Note: This review is based on my personal experience, and others may have a different opinion.

I haven't been to this place in a long time, I usually go to pepers on Alum rock Rd. Today I decided to order the food from pepe's. I placed an order by call, as I was on my walks. I thought by that time I get the pepe's the food will be ready. When I got there the kid behide the counter was acting strange he took my details and told me to wait few mins. When my order was ready he pulls out the card machine and makes me pay for the order, which I did. Then he smirks at me and says, we have ran out of carrier bags. I had to walk back home like this with no carrier bag. Sometimes the bag rips as the flavours leak out or of to much wieght. I was hoping nothing like that happens. You run a business, its your job to stay on top of things. Very disappointed.

They are very rude and just hang up when they feel like it never ordering again this .

I asked for extra marinated chicken and ive got dehydrated chicken instead in the rice box

Was banging a year ago consistently, fell off now and either a hit or miss, took about 35 mins to come wasn’t too fussed about. But you’d think the foods gonna be good, hot and fresh given the time they’ve taken but was complete opposite. Fries were dead (6 year old thought so) like they’ve been sitting around for ages dry and the xl burger chicken fillets was dry, hard burnt on the side, if u close your eyes you’d think your chewing tyres or someone’s leftovers, absolutely miserable and for paying £12 odd quid for a meal like that, never again. Can’t fault the uber driver bro did his job but for a business like this they need to start putting a bit more effort in the food quality taste than bumping up the price every week, might have better ratings overall 😉

Slowest service every, don’t bother coming here.

First time going to this place in ages - used to be a regular a long time ago. Alas I do feel standards have slipped. The food is good and still one of the top 5 places in Alum Rock for me but simply not as good as it used to be.

Alum Rock Road branch has always been a regular. Few months ago the standards dropped immensely poor cold food. However recently there definitely been an improvement in terms of food quality. The XL fillets are deffo bigger in size and service is better.

Terrible experience ordered off Uber eats and the food was dead it was ice cold soggy and someone didn’t even bother putting the drink or sauces in the bag which didn’t come in proper packaging for some reason. Merigo stetchford is better just go there not the pepes they’ve fallen off.

Took 25 mins for the food, and only had one till working. the other one was down, and it took ages to reboot. So, I had to wait 10 mins to get served and then and then 25 for the food. My daughter started falling asleep. Food was nice

I recently placed an order with Pepe’s, and unfortunately, the experience was a complete letdown. Upon receiving my delivery, I found the food haphazardly thrown into a paper bag, with cold drinks stacked directly on top of the hot food. As a result, the drinks were warm, and the food—intended to be hot—had gone cold. The fries were soggy and entirely inedible, turning what should have been a satisfying meal into an utter disappointment. For a £50 order, I expected far better care and attention. I called the restaurant to seek a resolution, and while the manager, Saad, was polite, the solutions offered were completely inadequate. His first suggestion was for me to walk 25 minutes to the store to collect a new order, promising they would "get it right" this time. Given the distance and the fact that I had already paid for delivery, this was an unreasonable request. His second offer—to give me a free meal whenever I visit next—was presented as suitable compensation for a £50 order. Frankly, this response felt dismissive and unprofessional. A token offer of a free meal at some unspecified future date doesn’t adequately address the inconvenience and frustration of having my current order ruined. Overall, this experience highlights a serious lack of customer service and quality control. I expect more from a restaurant, especially when spending a considerable amount of money. Until these issues are addressed, I won’t be ordering from Pepe’s again.
