1 Star — Utterly Useless Service If I could give zero stars, I would. Pepe should be renamed to Peasant delivery, because the service is a complete joke. Over an hour to deliver a basic order — are they sourcing the ingredients from a different continent? Every time I’ve ordered, they’ve taken the absolute piss with timing. No updates, no apologies, just radio silence while you’re left wondering if they’ve fallen into a black hole. By the time the food arrives (if it even does), it’s cold, soggy, and tastes like regret. Honestly, I’ve had faster service from smoke signals. Never again. Save your time, money, and sanity — go literally anywhere else.

Got a delivery took an hour and a half when it said expected to be 45 minutes and then the food was terrible

Awful awful customer service!! How they speak over the phone, just ordered at 9:16pm today Tuesday 1st April 2025. I’m not sure if some sort of April fools joke but it’s awful. Waiting over an hour for my order! Yet hasn’t turnt up and then still I then proceeded to contact them they was rude! Told me had to cancel my order! Lied multiple times to me saying they tried to call me when they never. Offered discount off but then five minutes on hold then randomly ended the phone! Can I take this any further🤔?

Ordered for peri peri large chips which costs £1.20 They gave me normal chips which cost £0.70 I called the restaurant last night to inform that they made a mistake in the other a night before. And yet again when I called for the same order. They sent me chips without peri peri. While they charged me for large peri peri.

Ordered rice with dip and dessert. Delivery man just gave the rice and when I asked he told me to call the restaurant. Called restaurant for 30 mins nobody picks up the phone. I don’t know weather that was intentional but indeed very poor service

0! As everyone said warning to not to order from here. Ordered last night for delivery for party of 11 and it took them 2 hours to finally cancel our order with 0 communication. I don’t know why they still exist. Someone needs to do a revamp with staff.

Absolutely Pathetic – Avoid at All Costs! If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is hands down the worst takeaway experience I have ever had. A few months ago, we placed an order and waited two hours only for it to never arrive. No apology, no explanation, just a complete waste of time. Against our better judgment, we decided to give them another chance today. Big mistake. Order was accepted for 21:15 delivery, and I even called the store at 21:25 to confirm was told everything was fine. Fast forward to 22:24, and I receive an email saying they’ve cancelled the order. No reason, no courtesy call, just another disgraceful display of incompetence. Looking at the reviews, it’s clear this is not a one-off issue. So many people have faced the same ridiculous service, yet somehow, their head office allows them to keep operating like this. How they are still in business is beyond me. Disgraceful, unreliable, and completely inconsiderate.

Came back recently, excited to have the fried chicken as I did. Was probably the best fried chicken in Southampton but unfortunately it’s all grilled now. Might have changed, but the staff hasn’t. I can understand how this place consistently employs staff who don’t understand the basics of working hospitality. I could genuinely tell them the sky is blue, ask them to repeat this and then tell me it’s a brick.

Today i visited Pepe Peri portswood , and unfortunately, the staff’s behavior was very disappointing. They were unfriendly and rude while taking orders, which negatively affected my experience. Customer service is a key part of dining, and this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I hope the management takes steps to improve their staff’s attitude to ensure a better experience for future customers

Tried it a long time after last review , not improved at all and portions are smaller for sure. Prices have gone right up, I now use another piri piri place in portswood and it's not Rio's either Have to say I used to enjoy the food a lot but after the price increase there’s no value for money , no deals and no rewards for being a very good customer .with these prices the portions really need to be bigger . Waste of money. The food was absolutely tasteless just plain boiled rice with turmeric and a pieces of chicken. No flavor, no effort. The portion size was ridiculously small, i have asked separately for rice… making it even worse. Honestly, it wasn’t worth a single penny. Very disappointed!

I have just ordered the rice box meal and been told by a someone at the till that as per pepe’s policy they are not allowed to give Pepsi can for eating in and only drink from cup is allowed. The thing is that even if it is “policy” this needs to be communicated nicely. Raza S if that is what the name of the guy was he needs to be retrained on what the company policies are and how to serve the customers.

Ordered from Uber eats, although the delivery was from in store. Ordered at 23:10, estimated to be delivered 23:55-00:15. Arrived at 00:30 well over an hour after being ordered, and what I received, makes me wonder why it took so long. Fries were stale and cold, chicken burger was a pre packaged frozen product dumped in the fryer (not fried chicken from a chicken place that's advertised) no different to a chicken mayo from McDonald's, and paying triple the price. Wings are OK, no different from Shirley kebab, wings just doused in your chosen spice sauce and not cooked in it. Seriously, for an establishment that brands itself for chicken, it's incredibly below par, frozen chicken and wings soaked in sauce. Pictures show chicken grilled in the chosen spice.

Most of the time the food is banging but the chicken quesadilla smelled like poultry.

Collection order via Just Eat. Paid for a garlic sauce and it was forgotten, had to go back to the counter and ask for it, luckily I hadn’t left the store yet. Got home started to eat my food, opened the sauce and there’s only 15ml in there!!!! The lid states the contents are 45ml!!!! Where’s the other 30ml???? Soo disappointed as I love this sauce all over my chicken and rice box, I wasn’t given the portion I paid for so I didn’t have enough sauce and I didn’t enjoy my meal as a result 😢. Will be going back to Rios.

Ordered from Uber eats. Arrived 30mins late and got no apology. The delivery driver was also very rude- didn’t greet me when I greeted twice, didn’t even look at me, just handed my food and walked away. The food was nice but I order from here again.

We ordered through uber eat and the food was awful. Bad smells and the test was expired. They charged us double and when we try to cancel the order or call the store we couldn't. Vegetables were over dated and soggy. I don't know how they get the hygiene certificate

Got delivery, 45mins late! No bloody apology and refused to notify me! Food used to be delicious, now it’s vile, either burnt or undercooked, the dips have changed, the garlic is soo overwhelming, the food gave me a hella bad stomach ache! Honestly not going to bother anymore, lost a customer.

I just called the restaurant to order. I was trying to do it online but it’s not working. So I called at reception and the guy who picked the call he is just not listening anything. I have him my postcode and he straightaway disconnect the call without even listening me. That’s really bad service .! They have good food but the service is really bad . Honestly, this is a fast food styled kebab shop. The chicken was dry and the sauce couldn't save it. The piri chips sucked. Thry seasoned 2 of the chips with a pile of spice and the rest were untouched. The Pepsi tasted weird also. There's better places in Portswood for the price ud pay here. Service were nice tho.

Rude staff! They Burnt my food in revenge! Whilst ordering food member of staff on the till kept rushing to take the order for no reason as there was no one else in the establishment to serve. I requested for the order to be read back to check if it was correct but he ignored the first request, he was asked a second time to which he replied, it will be on the recipient, I didn't want to make a fuss thus I remained silent. After paying and reviewing the receipt I noticed the order was incorrect, I spoke to the same person, he started arguing then walked away when he knew he was wrong, he began bad mouthing in another language. Unfortunately for him I knew what he was saying! I couldn't believe his reaction and told him if you can't be bothered to serve customers politely you shouldn't be working in customer service, another staff member intervened corrected the mistakes without making fuss, sadly that person also made a comment when I sat down, thinking I wouldn't hear. Insult to injury went home to find one burger was incorrect flavour, but this wasn't the main issue, the burgers were burnt! Had the throw all the burgers away as it was like eating charcoal. The remaining order was fine, its a shame they had the inact their revenge by ruining our iftar. It's not the first time I have encountered rude staff at this establishment. I stopped going previously, family member what to give them another chance, but they lived up to their reputation.

I ordered food from portswood branch southampton. order was supposed to arrive at 6.30pm arrived 7.55pm food was cold! I tried contacting the branch kept picking phone up and then putting it down. Customer service is diabolical. Standards have dropped since!

I ordered this food at 6:50 pm, by 8:40 I had still not received the food I ordered. I tried phoning multiple times to ask for an update on my order and they didn’t answer any of the times I called. On top of this, the delivery was repeatedly pushed back with no explanation. When asking for a refund they did not offer any help. The order finally arrived two hours later. Terrible service

Ive been to many Pepes in my time across the UK and this one is by far the worst. Empty inside and food took ages to come, staff are rude and none of them understand what I was saying. Chicken strips my friend ordered tasted microwaved and were watery and yet dry inside. I got the quesadillas and they were not as nice as I've had them before.

Estimated delivery time 9.45-10.05 so at 10.20 a was told my order was 2 minutes away! At 10.35 rang again and was told 10 mins. Finally arrived at 10.47, what an absolute joke. Would not order from here again staff don’t tell the truth

The delivery driver was inept and hot headed. When asked to leave my food at the main door, he asked which window. When I raised my voice saying main door he got touchy and asked why I shouted at him. It was actually because I was driving and he couldnt hear me right the first time. Hence I had to shout for "main door". Not to harrass but to stress. When asked why I shouted, I said because he was an A hole and in turns I was told F you by the delivery guy. All fair and square there. But remember, I order Pepe atleast once or twice a month. You can check this at the restaurant. I wont order from you again just like I stopped ordering via Deliveroo.

I genuinely can’t believe how a business can be so bad at what they do after running for so many years. I ordered a paneer rice which clearly had old outdated cheese, which absolutely stank to the point that you could smell it outside the bag, needless to say I struggled to sleep and was sick. I came 20 minutes after Uber said my order was ready for collection just to find out that it wasn’t actually ready and I had to wait for a further 20 minutes. The only reason I ever come to Pepe’s is because I love the sauce and the spice, but if it was possible to buy them elsewhere, I wouldn’t set foot in any of their restaurants again in my life. For the prices they charge, their service is completely unacceptable.

Pepe’s Piri Piri used to my favourite take but unfortunately today was last order I made with them. I made online and ask to give extra time to the chicken but may intentionally they raw chicken with blood, photo is attached.

Food took an hour then was given wrong order by driver so he returned and swapped the order back so unfortunately the next customer received food that I had been already opened. On top of that shocked at the potion sizes. Probably the worst takeaway experience I’ve ever had. Cooked food after eating it which is not what you expect for almost £30 between two people would never order again.

They need to learn how to wrap a wrap up properly, the bread was soggy and cold.. also portion is quite poor, especially for extra "large" chips I do recommend their ricebox tho, usually quite decent.

Waited a considerably long time to be served and usually their food is good but on this occasion the food was burnt and overcooked even after addressing with staff who advised to contact the head office. Had a message back that the cctv was reviewed and no contact made with the staff to rectify the issue after food being served. This will be the final time I will be using this store and will take my business elsewhere considering I’m being spied on.

We heard great things about this place so ordered a feast and it did not disappoint!! We are just on the edge of the catchment area for delivery but even during rush hour on a Saturday night, it only took an hour. We were too excited by the quantity of food and the mouthwatering smells to take photos (sorry!) My husband had the chicken nachos and I had half a chicken, the chick n rice to share and a tonne of sides and sauces…the portions were massive (we way over ordered), so we stuffed ourselves silly and saved some for the next day. I can’t comment on the nachos personally but my husband rated it highly. But my oh my the half chicken!!…not only was it quality meat, but the bag was full of sauce so you could keep topping up the flavour. I didn’t need any dip for the chips as I had an abundance from my chicken 🤤 I really cannot wait to order again.

Honestly from start to finish I was impressed with the speed of delivery, the portion sizes, and the taste was out of this world! The menu is vast but easy to navigate, will definitely be going again.

This is my best chicken grill peri peri restaurant. They are mostly good, but sometimes you don't get the sauce around the chicken in concentrated and it becomes like a soup. Please Pepe be aware of this.

Great halal beef, chicken and lamb. I am not muslin but I am happy eating meat, halal or not. The spicy fries were delicious and just cooked. The chicken wrap was full of flavour but I would have like more, either thighs which are more juicy or have the breast fried with breadcrumbs. Overall good customer service,

Came here for a quick bite to eat. Ordered the food but it took a while for it to come to us. People ordered after us and got their food quicker. Not bad value here. Wasn’t the greatest place to eat but it’s ok.

Love pepes, it's mine and my families go-to. The only downside is the time it takes for food to be delivered and served if sitting in.

The food is always been good and best. It's difficult to find an Asian cuisine with such a b r illanat taste and good quality. The staff are always friendly dly and they server the best and very quick on their services including the hot cooked food with perfectly packed delivery bag and if in case of dine in they serve with a black tray and some seivert and tissues for Excellent presentation they also make the soul filled with joy as they fill the stomach with the quantity of the food they provide.. There are various vegetarian options also available and good to have a panner dish. They cook food separately not to mix the vegan and non vegan product at the same fryers. They cook the chips or fries very well upto the golden yellow color. Incase of spicy fries they used good spicy mix masala to produce better taste and quality. They also have lots of other side meals and different snack options I loved their chicken rice, lamb burgers and chicken wings. The fired chicken is always been crisp and good to taste with no bad soggy appearances. They always look amazing. Not to try is their burrito rolls. They have a good space to dine in around 30 persons can fit easily. Parking is not available at free of cost. It's at the center point of Portswood shopping center. Overall satisfaction level is really reasonable and amazing for their food and experience eventhough their pricing is bit affordable. The shop is maintained very clean and hygienic and has a toilet accessibility for 1 person at a time.

I would never order again.. I waited 2 hours for my order which when finally arrived was cold. I called the shop 2 times, to be told my order had left the shop and would be with me in 10 minutes. After a 20 minute wait, I called the shop again to be told to go and stand outside as the driver was near (I live in a house not flat). I expressed how i had been waiting 2 hours when originally I was told it would be 30-45 minutes. The staff member was very rude and told me he closes in 15 minutes so nothing he can do and put the phone down on me.
