My all time favorite take a way establishment

Foods ok but delivery time is showing, over 2hrs so far

We orders food and it arrive almost 2hours and a half later

The lady was very nice but unfortunately the food was not as great as she was. The food was salty and even more salty. I needed a gallon of water after one bite.

Decided to have ordered chilly beef....not crisp...chewy. Chow mean ok Curry not bad extra hot. Prawn crackers no flavour not crispy enough. Won't use again This was a takeaway. If was a sit down wouldn't have paid

Best Chinese in the area, would highly recommend

Delicious and flavourful dishes with large portions sizes and great value for money. The delivery service is lacking but that's because the restaurant uses their own driver and they're not on any delivery apps; there's no option for dine in service either as the shop is very small. The amazing food and lovely staff more than make up for both of those things though!

Absolutely the best Chinese takeaway around, never had a problem with any aspect of the service. Delivery is usually longer than other places but that’s because they are so good they are always busy. Definitely worth the wait, staff have 100% always been friendly,polite and helpful never had a bad experience and have ordered from this place for longer than I can remember

Worst chinese takeaway ever. Basically I had eat chicken chow mein from this shop. the chicken gave me food poisoning. I would not recommend anyone to order any takeaways from this shop. Also I find the food from this shop to be way too salty,greasy,oily and the mushroom chow mein I've eaten turned out to be out of date mushrooms.

We ordered our food at 8:30pm and still haven’t had our food delivered and it’s now 22:50pm. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Also they are not picking up our calls so now we are down on money and without food.

Phoned at 17.21 for a delivery. Spent over £65. Told delivery would take 1 hour and 10 minutes. Still waiting 2 hours later even after phoning at 18.45 to be told its being cooked and phoned 19.10 to be told driver should be knocking on my door. Shocking service. Will never use them again .

I always order sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and roast pork in green pepper nad black bean sauce and must say that they make it perfect. I tried various Chinese takeaways in Southampton but I always come back as they are the best. And very friendly staff.

Chinese chicken curry was not as normal, rice was dry ,salt and chilli chicken was good and spare ribs in honey were ok but grissley. Tried as a new customer don't think I'll return

Placed order at 7.07 told delivery in 1 hour was told . 8.50.still no delivery phoned shop .poor service shouldn't take orders when u have got the Capacity to deliver on time

Always late on delivering food if you want to eat around 8 in evening order as soon as shop opens as that's how long it takes the food is OK not the best but average

No takeaway is worth this kind of wait... don't care how nice the food is. Told ,no assured within the hour. 1hr 20mins.. you're next he's coming straight to you.1hr 40mins sorry he had to deliver somewhere else first. 1hr 50 mins arrived...told the guy won't order again if this late and instead of apologising or reasons on their behalf said Oh Ok !!!

If you like Chinese food. You can't beat Sam's King Chef. Tried other places, they never come anywhere near to Sammy & Jennys standards. Hence we have been using them for 20 years now. We even drive over to collect as unfortunately, we're out of their delivery area. But well worth going over & collecting.

Haven't been here for a while as quite far to travel for a weekly takeaway treat... But must have been nearly a year or more since ordering amd collecting.. Amazing food tasty as always! Still my favourite Chinese and worth a 50minute round trip to collect.

Used to be absolutely brilliant but never order on saturdays they don't have enough staff the food is always at least 30 mins to hour over the time stated

An efficient takeaway. Good food. Prepare for a wait if you're expecting delivery on a Friday or Saturday. But it is worthwhile. No eat in option. Order and pay by phone.

We have been using Sam's King Chef for over 20 years now & never been disappointed. Tried other places but always gone back to Sammy & Jenny. For the quality of food, always hot & always a happy & smiling greeting from all the staff. Excellent & would Highly recommend to anyone who loves chinese food.

Service was appalling; waited for an hour and 3 quarters for it only to be disappointed in the food.

Ordered takeaway for 3 people and was told it would be 1 hour 45 minutes, it still hadn`t arrived after 3 and a half hours. Phoned to complain and see where our order was and the woman who answered the phone was very rude, told us at first that our order was out being delivered and in the next breath it was being bagged up. Asked to speak to the manager and she refused to get him. Appalling service, don`t accept orders if you can`t fulfill them. WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN.

It’s 22:15 as I write this and still no food. Ordered at 18:15 for a very simple dish of chicken balls chips and veggie spring roll I’m probably about 10-12 minute drive away at max. Phoned up at 20:30 to be told 30 to 40 more minutes ok fine I’ll wait. Been trying to phone for fifteen minutes for them to ignore every single call. Complete crooks clearly they can’t cope or they’re taking to many orders. Note the lady who answered the phone was super pleasant otsbthe owners who are a complete waste of time. Never again will I order from you and trust me I will be at your doors first thing tomorrow

such good food here!! I've been getting my Chinese from here for 25 years I wont go anywhere else. Such a shame that their delivery service is terrible. A few teams its been late but I've been waiting for 3 hours and still not here!! Delivery's are the reason I haven't gave it 5 stars

Quoted 1.5hr for delivery but as alot of people were saying how nice it was I thought we would give it ago.. 2hrs later food arrived nothing special and quite greasy and 3 pound for delivery. Lady on the phone was great though.

We've been ordering from this location for a very very long time but it's just gone so far down hill!! We waited for 2 hours for our food for it to come here WRONG definitely be looking for a new Chinese soon

Hola compañeros conocedores chinos. Estoy al final de mi atadura. Después de una hora de no presentarse, los llamo y me dicen que han estado tratando de conseguirme porque hubo un problema con mi pedido. Dijeron que habían sonado fuera de pato. Me refiero a wtf. Lo que el chino se queda sin pato. Seguramente podrían haber saltado por el estanque local. Sin embargo, ni siquiera habían empezado a cocinar mi pedido! ! ! ! ! Entonces, si nunca hubiera llamado, ¿no habrían simplemente entregado algo? ? ? Entonces me dicen que comenzarán mi pedido y lo sacarán lo antes posible. Pasaron otros 45 minutos y todavía no habían llegado. ¡Así que vuelvo a llamar solo para que me digan que AÚN NO PUEDEN ENVIARSE por 30 minutos! ! ! Cancled nuestro pedido y nunca volveremos. X

Phoned up for a takeaway, was told on the phone it would be 1 hour. 2 hours & 30 mins later after 2 phone calls it turned up. And was very disappointed with the food the chicken balls were still drowning in the grease. It is a shame how down hill the place has gone as we have used for many years. But unfortunately this will be our last visit and will now be looking else where.

Give yourself plenty of time to wait for order. Food good standard

Food was of a decent standard but 2/3 of the occasions I ordered they forgot dishes and had to wait half an hour to get them.

The service was very slow and the lady on the counter was juggling answering both phones while she was trying to serve customers over the counter. There was also a lot of shouting going on in the kitchen with the lady on the counter also being involved with. The food was great when it eventually came :)

As the title says, we ordered, and after 2 phone calls out order finally arrived. No worth the wait, sub par except for the chicken balls that were satisfactory.

Went and picked up food last night, I used to use this Chinese a lot but haven’t for over a year. I still can’t believe how bad it was. The ribs were all fat, the chicken balls were huge long things with the lowest grade of chicken ever (the batter was good) I saved the worst until last. I asked for Singapore noodles and got chow mein noodles congealed with some sort of Indian curry paste it was the most revolting dish I’ve ever had. I eat Asian food all the time and this was absolutely rancid. Would never use them again. It’s a real shame as this used to be very good.

Ordered 2hrs ago had to phone and chase as 30 mins over delivery time stated no apology told meal was just leaving get a call back to say no cumcumber for duck. About to cancel when it arrives 45mins after 2nd call. In total 2 hours 10mins. Absolutely disgusting service and no manners around customer service at all. Will be avoiding them in future

What an absolute joke, ordered meal at 610pm 826pm still not arrived the lady on the phone was extremely rude and with two young children waiting as-well as this was supposed to be a treat

2 and a half hours and still no food. Shocking customer service when calling twice. Lied and told me the driver had left to then when I called again to be told he’s out on a delivery and will then do mine! I still don’t have my food and quite frankly am not happy to pay for it with how rude the lady on the phone was with absolutely no apology! I really don’t know how they think this is acceptable! Never ordering from here again!!!!

a real let down, we had chicken balls and there were black patches over some of the chicken (almost like it had gone off). I had chicken with mushrooms and the chicken was pink inside, also it was very gluppy. my husband's chow mein was ok. overall diassapointing!!

not only did it arrive late - for the price it was awful - overcooked pork balls - burnt fried rice -and the chow mein was stoggy on top of this the prawn crackers were chewy ---- never again a waste of £20

Scheduled for delivery at 8.55, ordered at 7.40 ...didn't turn up til 10pm. 2 hours 20 mins after ordering had to phone the store 3 times. Nothing was done about this just some spring rolls chucked in. No apology from the driver at the door either

The same "Chinese" food as you get at any other Chinese take away. Quite high in sulphites, so sufferers (like me) might wish to avoid it. The sweet and sour pork is nice.

This is a very British Chinese takeaway. Nice people and big portions but very mass produced food and not authentic in any way. I love Chinese cuisine but so hard to find anywhere good in and around southampton. It all tasted the same with no veg, dry rice and cheap meat.

this is our favourite chinese take away in southampton. quality is always top and delivery is mostly within the time scale they specify but is always quicker to collect especially on weekends when you'll receive some extra goodies if you spend over a certain amount

Waited 3 hours in total called said delivery in 20 minutes came 45 minutes later Not usual standard cold and dripping with grease very disappointing

Normally quite a good place but was told hour and half wait which was understanding but to ring up after hour and half and find out it ain't even being cooked and told to wait half hour more then hung up on so rang back asked how a refund on card was done and then told that's fine with no hesitation and hung up on again very disgusted with the attitude I was giving customer service skills are poor got more politeness from my two year old son very disappointed put off ordering again !!!
