What more to say other that the title, brilliant food and drinks it’s just a shame about the type of people it attracts. You know the kind, d**kheads who try to look good and “pull birds”. More commonly known and curbys. Just absolutely not the type of people you want to be around. 10/10 food. 1/10 customers. 10/10 would recommend to anybody wanting their night ruined by jacked up little boys who think they’re gods gift.

To say disappointed would be an understatement. A group of friends looking forward to trying this place for the first time, were left in total disbelief. One of my friends had booked a table a few weeks previous for 7:30pm for 7 people. We arrived at 7:25 ready for what we heard would be a good night of food&drink. On arrival my friend told the barman that the party of 7 had arrived for 7:30 booking, he just looked at her and said “ I’m just standing in tonight, I don’t know anything about your booking plus Chef is off sick!!” If we hadn’t turned up without a phone call I’m sure the owner/manager would be pretty peed off. So as you can imagine we all were very unhappy with the situation, not even a complementary drink was offered. So I can’t tell you what the food was like and to be honest I probably won’t be able to in the future, as not sure if we’ll be going back. A BIG thank you to “ Jamal’s Kitchen for getting us a table ready for 7 hungry friends. I’ve given one circle for PB&K because I had to. 😡

The People Bar is a small intimate space where you can get wholesome, delicious home prepared food, much in the style of family run European eateries. We had simple dishes of lasagne and a pizza and these were made from good basic ingredients, tasting wholesome, ‘real’, and a far cry from the pre-prepared, processed meals you so often encounter in similar British outlets. The staff are polite, friendly and informed about what they’re doing. They’re doing a great job in Cleethorpes, providing a welcome alternative to the majority of mainstream food establishments. Well worth a visit or three!

Like a micro pub with food but unfortunately no real ale. Only four or five customers having an afternoon drink. I liked the ambience of the place. The draught "craft" beer was ok. I'd go again and try food sometime.

Loads of drinks to choose from - couple of draught ales, bottled beers and winds and spirits. All chosen to match the vibe of the place

Having booked a table after viewing the restaurants (??) gallery and menu on line, i was soon to be very disappointed ! Entered to find the place is very small indeed, and can only cater for 10-12 customers, with a mish-mash of tables. Having seen Rioja on the wine list, i was informed the only Red they had was a Malbec, which was fine but disappointing. Had to sit at a High bench with my back to the room and close to the bar; so i was brushed against every time someone went passed. Still undeterred, with the menu in my hand i searched the walls of the room (not easy when everythings behind you) for the main dishes.... As advertised on line, and as per the menu the Main Course would be on the specials board, of which there was one; not board...Main dish ! I asked the waitress what the mains were and was told to look at the board. If we hadn't already started drinking the wine i would have walked out at that point. So we decided to order an Anti-pasta sharer, and then look for somewhere else to eat. There seemed to be a lot on the board that we were served, but none of it was hand made, all straight from a packet/jar, and not worth the 25 pounds it cost.

We ordered 3 plates plus bread between two of us expecting (given the overall price - £23) to walk away having had a good meal. We ordered the scotch egg, Camembert and king prawns. There was a single scotch egg which cost £6. It was very tasty but was literally a single scotch quails egg... looking at the pictures this should have come with coleslaw and something else with a sauce on it. There was 2 king prawns and tartar sauce for £6.50. Very tasty but again, we had 1 each! and then sat there twiddling our thumbs. The Camembert was £7 and came baked inside a bread loaf. This was actually fairly reasonably priced but was overshadowed by the ridiculous price of the previous two. We also had house 'breads'. There was one bread cut into 3 slices for £3.50. We maintain the food is very tasty but unacceptably high priced for what was actually received. In hindsight we should have mentioned this at the time but the plates came out individually and we assumed more would follow. For £23 between two people to receive half a scotch egg, a king prawn, half a Camembert and a slice and a half of bread EACH is not good value for money. We came away happy with the food but quite unhappy with the price. This would easily have been a 5* review had we paid £15-18 or had we received more food (or what was assuredly supposed to have been included with the scotch eggs).

In was surprised by the different combinations of cheese, meat and fruit but it works. A must try for anyone. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble, a nice touch and a great addition to the building Cleethorpes eateries.

We went on a Friday night. The bar got busy very quickly between 7.30 and 8pm. If you haven't been, the place is small with a range of seating and tables at varying heights. We were at a bistro style table. Behind me was a chap on a stool so, at times, I was uncomfortably close to his elbows. If you don't like people invading your personal space then perhaps this place isnt for you. We wanted to share some starters on the menu. They were listed as small dishes. It said to ask the chef or see the Specials board for the mains. There was a board on the wall displaying 'specials'. After placing our order, one of the dishes being on the specials board. We were told by the male waitor that we couldnt have it because it was a lunch option. Despite the menu saying the mains were served from 5pm until 10pm daily. We asked the waitor what we could have and he said he didnt know. I think it may have been it first day or was standing in. The female manager/chef said that the meatball melt was a lunchtime option. I asked what we could order and she said I could have the curry or the lasagne. I asked how I would know this seeing as how these dishes (as well as the meatball melt) were all on the specials board. She said that they were getting new boards to make clear what was a lunch option and what was on the evening specials. We ordered bread, olives with oils, camembert topped with roasted figs, pistacios and chutney and the scallops with pancetta and pea puree. The olives came with no oil, the camembert was not topped with figs and there was no pancetta with the three scallops. We only really noticed this towards the end. The food was alright. I would recommend the camembert. The place had a good selection of beers.

Last night I visited People Bar & Kitchen to taste their exciting new Autumnal menu. We tried a large selections of the dishes available and all I can say is WOW. If, like me, you are always unsure on what to order as your worried about 'food envy', this menu is for you! Similar to tapas style dining this menu gives you the option to share small bits of everting with friends and family while conversation over great wine and ales. The little plates menu has a variety of options that I am sure will cater for everyone’s palette, ranging from baked cheeses, warm breads and homemade condiments, not forgetting the amazing fish selection. A favourite of mine was the baked camembert in a homemade cob bread, accompanied by figs, pistachios and over course garlic and rosemary for flavour! A great ‘tear and share’ option. A recommended place to go with Christmas looming and social gatherings taking place, People Bar & Kitchen new menu is the perfect starter for a great night. As always, great customer service with excellent atmosphere, in a newly painted, clean and welcoming venue.

Called in for a drink. Very very small! Not quite the smallest bar (mini railway wins that) but small!Venue really clean. Copper pans at the bar.. menus on the wall.. stripped back walls.. add a charm to the place. Didn't eat any food... but all sounded really nice.Draft craft lager and an American IPA on draft too. A fridge full of various bespoke beers. Wines a plenty too. For such a small place it has many more choices than most massive chain places! The lady behind the bar was really welcoming and the punters were also friendly and chatty. For an intimate venue it was really good.My only complaint would be the wine glass looked quite murky. The Sun shone into the bar onto it.. and really showed up watermarks, faded lipstick and smears. This is the only thing I would say they need to keep an eye on as everything else was superb.

Every time I walk into People Bar, I'm reminded of the theme song to the 70's comedy Cheers - 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name'. It's not that everybody does, it's just that Brett manages to create an atmosphere that perfectly blends serving customers with friendly conversation whilst respecting one's privacy. Quite a skill - maybe he's Cleethorpes answer to Ted Danson. My wife chose the poached egg and avocado on toast, and I chose the People Sandwich, a tasty platter mix of bread, pickles, hummus, cheese and meat. For me, it's completely unreasonable to expect a small establishment to stock every menu item every single day. My suggestion is to let Brett suggest various options based on what he has available and choose from those - you really won't be disappointed. The house Tempranillo went very well with the cheese and meat, while my wife went for her favourite Old Mout lime cider. Personally, I could eat a light lunch here every day of the week, and can't recommend the place highly enough. The five star hygiene rating was clear, with immaculate standards on display. A splendid place to relax and unwind.

I had never heard of this place until I won a meal for two in a charity fun run, so I was rather intrigued to see what the experience was like and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The venue is very small with a shabby chic decor that gives a feeling of intimacy, the selection of drinks was excellent (choosing a Beaujolais rather than Cabernet was a treat) and the food was delicious. We chose the antipasti option and when it came we thought that it would not be enough for three of us yet we left feeling satisfied and no sign of hunger pangs. Well worth a visit.

A small bar and restaurant. If busy feels a touch claustrophobic. Ate a small lunch meal here. The offerings are different from the norm. We had "Our Grandad's catch" and "The Peoples Sandwich". Two of the cheese options requested for the sandwich were not available. The cheese on the fishcakes was not served! If you read the menu description of Grandads catch It sounds great but the offering I received was not the same. What we had was quite nice and for the price I suppose portions although small were suitable. This time there were only two people present and it took longer than expected for the meals to arrive. Once other customers started to arrive the one member of staff could not cope and service was slow and erratic. One of the beers we wanted was not available. The door is always kept open here and on cooler days it is cold inside, Need to bring a jumper to eat here sometimes particularly with the back door always open. They will not close the front door for your comfort. There is a small patio area out back which is really a smoking area so stay clear if you don't smoke.

This place has had a lot of publicity locally as I understand that there have been some issues with planning consent and complaints from neighbours, so we thought we would go and see what all the fuss was about. It is indeed a quirky place, in a tiny old house close to Seaview street in Cleethorpes, and quite different to a lot of the local places. We visited at breakfast time and it wasn't busy, but at capacity it probably holds only 20 or so people. We were there early morning but there still seemed to be a bit of a mess from the night before, a stack of empty bottles in the yard and cigarette butts on the ground. We ordered breakfast, and it took around 20 mins to arrive, which given that we were the only customers seemed a bit long. The food store is at the back of the courtyard and the food is cooked in the bar, so we saw the member of staff make several journeys from one to the other carrying uncovered food. Our food was ok, but served on trendy slate rather than plates. I was a bit concerned about the hygiene of this, particularly given the state of the tea cups which were stained and dirty. The other thing of concern was the outside toilet in the yard, which was clean enough but I was put off using as it was so close to the area where customers were sitting !It's a shame, because it offers something a bit different in sleepy Cleethorpes, but I'm not sure I will be rushing back.

Quirky yes - clean noThe very small courtyard is also the beer barrel store and wheelie bin store area. Empty milk bottles used as a cigarette butt bin. Cigarette butt ends and matches all over the floor there are only two tables and one of them was very grubby. If you can ignore that and the fact that one person smoking outside fills the whole courtyard area with smoke then ok but it might put non smokers off. If you can stand all that then see what you think when someone walks past and goes into the outside loo right next to you while you are sat on the patio chair where you can then hear every noise from the loo.Don't expect any refinements here....

My husband had seen the website for this venue and so we made a special trip to have breakfast. We received a friendly greeting and promptly sat down. The venue is very small, but has been quirkily decorated. Unfortunately the back door was left open, so it was beyond draughty and I sat in my coat shivering. When the breakfasts arrived they were beautifully presented, which is always a great start. Unfortunately from here onwards I began to feel disappointed; my cup was stained and had a stained inside; my cutlery was unclean with obvious egg yoke residue on my fork; the breakfast looked great, but my egg yoke was over-cooked and not runny; the sausage cage. was pink in the middle, so pink in fact that I didn't dare eat it. From a promising start, it quickly went down-hill. From the breakfast served I only ate the egg and the toast, as I'd declined the black pudding and passed the streaky, smoked bacon onto my husband's plate. Would I return? NO! Great menu, but if the cleanliness and comfort are poor and the food is not cooked correctly, then not a lot of point going! I know the venue has limited space and I marvelled at how the breakfasts were cooked, but if it's not edible them it's missing the whole point. I think only one person cooking/ taking orders/ clearing tables and washing up is not enough. When we arrived there were just 2 others in the restaurant, but there were seven others when by the time we left. Better to do less and do it brilliantly than try to do more than is possible.

The peoples bar and kitchen is a brilliant , tiny pub that serves some great food. Just before the bottom end of sea view street , it is easy to miss with very discreet signage and door laws over winter months ! However it is well worth a visit. Probably 20 people and interior is full ? However there is also a small open air courtyard to the rear of premises. Food platters- cheese or meat or mixed are different to your average pub food and offer some great flavours / combinations and good value. Very friendly owner. I hear they now also serve breakfasts and will have to return to give that a try !

Visited just as the bar opened last year and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We had a sharing cheeseboard and it was gorgeous. Loved the added touching of being told where each ingredient was sourced.Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and meeting the owner!

Can't fault it. Just the type of place Cleethorpes should be encouraging. A real gem, warm and welcoming. Definitely be back soon.

Great idea having something a bit different in Clee - cold meats and cheese board in a lovely setting with a really friendly owner.

It may be tiny but it is a great place to go for drinks and lunch/ dinner. Very small food preparation area and platters are the main offering- sort of tapas on a slate ! Presented well and tasted great ! Good selection of beers and wine available- small courtyard at rear accomodating smokers or dogs !! Reasonable prices.

An odd little place, but we did not know it was supposed to be a restaurant, and it would be difficult to class it as a restaurant !! This place is OK for a drink or two, but that is about the sum total. We were surprised to find that it managed to get planning permission from the local council.

You must visit this eatery/bar, a must to see and amazing choice of fun foo and drinks lovely staff welcoming you. Enjoy the great atmosphere in there, a fusion of Parisian nibbles and Milanese treats. Although the venue is small its packaged well and well worth a visit when in Cleethorpes or even in the Lincolnshire area.

We went a few weeks ago, booked as it's pretty small, traffic accident conspired against us but Brett took us in despite the late arrival and fed us well. If you like a wide menu to choose from then this is not the place for you, but if you are willing to chance it then you will be well fed and watered in this charming place. Try it!

Three of us arrived and luckily there was just one table free for three. The room was very small and crowded and everyone was huddled up in overcoats as the back door was stood open - it's November! We ordered coffee but there was none - they'd run out! After freezing on metal chairs some people left and we got some warmer more comfortable seating. The food was very good - a sharing plate of cured meats, cheese, bread and relishes. An amusing and memorable dining experience, but not one to be repeated.

Only visited once so far but will definitely return, went in for a drink a couple of weeks ago, well one drink turned into several due to the great atmosphere, chilled environment, fab selection of drinks and a very friendly owner. Being small but relaxed you can't help but mingle with others on a evening (haven't been in the daytime yet) which makes a refreshing change and is a good way to meet people. Great music and Brett the owner is so friendly and is eager to please all his customers. Look forward to returning

We happened upon this gem, after a stroll down Seaview Street. It serves great beer and although we didn't eat here, the food is great too (we were told by another couple). However it was blowing a gale, with flurries of snow and the door was wide open! I like a bit of fresh air and I can understand that if the door is closed the bar would not appear open but how about an 'A' board or some blankets. Despite this the atmosphere was warm so we will come back and remember the thermal challenges!!

This is the best bar in Cleethorpes. It's got to be the most friendly place around here; excellent, welcoming staff and a brilliant atmosphere. The food looks amazing which I'll have to try next time I'm in, and it has a wide variety of craft beers and ciders to choose from. It's a small place, but that just adds to the charm. 10 out of 10.

People"s Bar is small, sensational, and super. I could"t recommend it enough, Brett is a one of the most down to earth people you could wish to meet, if you have taste, a sense of humour (you will need one) then this is the place for you, expect something that isn't conformist . something that is unique, and well worth a visit then this is the place for you.

A pearl of a place; People Bar has become a firm favourite of mine. I’ve visited the bar mid-week and at the weekend and on all occasions the food, drinks and 'feel' of the place have been just the ticket. Brett, the owner, is really creative with the food; I’ve tried some new dishes whilst in there, along with some classics, and really enjoyed them all. Brett and the staff have managed to strike a perfect balance: lovely food in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere.

What a great addition to Cleethorpes. Whilst not a huge bar it is certainly full of character with a good selection of beers and the best G&T you will find. Shipyard is a winner for me. Brett's passion is clear and the service is spot on. We will definitely be going back.

A Tiny bar full of charm and character, it can be a bit of a squeeze on a weekend night and on the two occasions we visited they had no JD but nevertheless it is my favourite bar in the area. Nice food staff and owner too, well worth checking out.

Having read the reviews me and my wife went there one lunch time for a cup of coffee, full of expectation. Much of what we read was true. Despite the concrete floor it's a cosy little, place, with lots of reclaimed timber and some ancient industrial metal chairs. There was a pleasant lively atmosphere, but we were left standing for what seemed quite a long time while the proprietor chatted to friends. We ordered a cappuccino, a 'normal' coffee and were tempted into ordering a couple of sausage rolls. My wife drinks cappuccino wherever we go and assured me hers was just a cup of normal coffee with a little frothy milk and a sprinkling of chocolate on top. She thinks there should have been much more milk. My coffee however was ok. The sausage rolls were tasty. We expected the bill to come to about £6.50 to £7.00 but were shocked when it came to £8.00. I suppose with hindsight they may have made a mistake. We were disappointed but we might give it another try to enjoy the unique atmosphere and hopefully, better value.

Completely love this place. It's a funky, little bar tucked on the corner of Cambridge Street. It reminds me of some of the bars I used to frequent in London. Music, atmosphere and staff are all brilliant. The G & Ts are definitely a firm favourite of mine.

We thoroughly enjoyed a sharing platter this afternoon, clearly put together with care and attention. The cheeses and cured meats servings were both traditional and novel, and the service from Brett friendly and interested. We'll definitely be returning and we'll bring friends along as we need to share this superb food and service. The beer and wine selection was very different from anything you'll find at other establishments in the area. Though we might pay the price by not being able to squeeze in one day, it's brilliant to see an innovative business grow.

The same as many others, gutted that the place is changing to a Premier Inn guests only restaurant, seriously bad move. The place is busy nearly every serving We have even been for Christmas dinner for the last 10 years or so as well as breakfasts and tea times Please rethink this ridiculous decision

We visited to commemorate my Stepfather’s 80th Birthday after he passed away in 2022. He was born in Cleethorpes and as a child looked through the windows of this hotel with his brother saying that one day they would stay here. They both lived to experience staying here, and it is now our privilege to carry on this tradition. The hotel is beautiful, traditional and spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant and found the food and service impeccable. We look forward to returning next year…. And every year after.

My husband and I arrived at 1250 to be greeted with “have you booked?” As passing trade but living local we hadn’t realised you had to book and we were informed by a member of staff that they were really popular so tables get booked quickly but she would take a look. We noticed two tables free both seating 4, one in the corner and one set inbetween two other tables. The member of staff informed us that the corner table we had placed our things on was booked at 1:30 but we could have the one set inbetween the other tables and the one where everyone knocked into when passing. I told her we would be done quickly anyway so not to worry. My latte came and I had drunk it before my cake arrived, my husbands’ Americano was very weak but was hot, his cheesecake was tasty all the same and my Victoria sponge equally tasty. Within 15mins a table of 6 was cleared and made available and the table that we originally had chosen was offered as a “choice of where would you like to sit” to customers who had booked. We have eaten in some lovely places and had coffee in some nice settings but have never felt as uncomfortable or unwelcome before. I would say that if passing trade isn’t welcome then put bookings only on your page would be helpful, so customers who feel It would be lovely to drop by and support a local business don’t.
