I gave this lot the benefit of the doubt because their food was generally ok - nowhere near as good as the restaurant Pin Wei that sadly closed down next door. Twice in a row, they have let me down to the point of no return. Last Saturday evening, ordering food online on the website, I ordered food at 6pm. I was told it would be an hour, which is quite a long time. I was happy with it though as they had managed expectations - we had four young kids to feed in the house. The food took over two hours to arrive and despite me calling at least 4 or 5 times I was told the driver was “on the way”. Food finally arrived over two hours later, after 9pm. The following week I thought that maybe the website was the issue, and therefore i would call and place an order. I was told by the same lady that the food would take 30 minutes to arrive. Five phone calls later, and having threatened to cancel the order, it arrived an hour and 40 mins later. The food is ok, no problem there. But I’d advise anyone who wants to actually taste it to place their order now for next weekend, because they have no concept of time and the two hour long waits for food ruin your evening. “He is on the way” “No, he’s not”

Ordered a takeaway which arrived on time. It was cold, tasteless and unpleasant. My wife has been sick. Will not be ordering again

I've been meaning to put this review on for a long time Love everything about this Chinese from great customer service right through to the food. Ordering is easy, they always understand you even if your not sure what your after as such they help you find it Never waited long for delivery always, warm when it arrives. Good tasty. Real good value for money.

Had a brilliant take away from here there was 6 of us all Of our food was tasty and big portions. Delivered in 30 mins would recommend.

Been looking for a new takeaway. Reviews are very hit and Miss for lots of restaurants. This is soo nice and we feel it’s better than one we previously used. Portions are really big, the roast pork char Sui is fab. Everything arrives nice and hot and the two times we’ve had it they arrived quite quick which was good as ordered on a Saturday.

Had not had a takeaway from here for years but thoroughly enjoyed it. the food was all tasty recommend the honey chilli chicken. delivery was within 45 mins which was good for a Saturday night. Staff are friendly and very accommodating for food intolerances. Would def Recommend and will get ours from here next time. Portions are a good size even had some left for leftovers 😊

I rarely write negative reviews but I had to write this one to prevent it happening to someone else. We usually get our chinese from here as the food is always so good. My Husband went into the shop to order but was told there was an hour wait so he came home and we ordered online. It said 1 hour 10 minutes wait which was fine. We ordered at 6:30pm. When it hadn’t arrived by 8pm I called them. Got told it was going to be another 45 minutes !!! We decided to wait. At 9pm we called back and was told he was on his way. No offer of an apology and just got told “happy new year”. It arrived 20 minutes after that! Nearly 3 hours just for a takeaway is absolutely appalling. Lost customers after many years of using them. The attitude was just all wrong

We always get our Chinese from here and have never been disappointed. Recommended by several friends who live in the village. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way for you. I've seen bad reviews left on here, but our experience has always been a good one going back over 2 years. We have now moved out of the area, but when passing always grab a takeaway, as it's the only Chinese we enjoy. Thank you.

Absolutely vile cold and greasy bland. Save your money and go elsewhere ww wish we had read the reviews before we ordered. Lesson Learnt

after reading a bunch of recent reviews i was slightly deterred, however i decided to go for it and see what all the fuss was about. Ordered chicken in black bean sauce with egg rice and smoked shredded chicken, and honestly i dont know whats so wrong with it? i feel bad for this small business on the highstreet, their food was great, service was great, they even called to say it was ready earlier than they expected if we wanted to go and pick it up to keep it warm? would definitely recommend.

Awful. I lived in Abbots for years, Peony Gardens was my absolute fav Chinese takeaway. Moved away for years, tried Peony when I returned, it was horrible. Not a patch on what it used to be, no interest in ordering from there again.

Recommended by family as they order from here quite often, I have to say even my family was applaud at the service received this evening, Firstly delivery driver refused to give me my receipt of payment after asking numerous times he just walked of, my order was completely wrong, I was overcharged for items I didn’t even order, phoning the restaurant the staff were rude and didn’t seem to care and not once offered to sort the issue for me, instead they hung up the phone, being a restaurant manager myself I think this is terrible customer service and failing to solve there mistakes is disgusting.

Food was really nice. Best Chinese I have had for a while. A parking which is handy too. Staff were nice and decor was OK . Place clean and tidy. No beer on tap but apart from this could not fault the place. Will visit again

Worst Chinese in Abbott's Langley In fact in hearts waited 2 hours for delivery when' it finally came it was Luke warm, chicken balls was just stoge, beef in green pepper in black bean sauce tasted and looked like gravy would never recommend it to anyone

Excellent food. Lovely kind lady who served me was delightful in fulfilling an off the menu request.

Was looking forward to a Chinese takeaway for weeks as it’s not my partners favourite. Ordered by phone giving 45 mins to collect but was left waiting. Was happy initially as was hot. So far so good. That was the end of the positive. Everything was tasteless, even the prawn crackers. Such a shame as it used to be very good. To a proper restaurant for a Chinese takeaway from now on. Put that down to experience and will not use again.

Purchased crispy lamb pancakes and duck pancakes. Initially pleased as they included free prawn crackers but in the end this turned out to be the only edible thing in the bag! I don't like complaining as I try to understand how difficult it must be to run a high street shop. I returned to the shop the following day with all of the duck meal and the small amount of lamb I had been able to retrieve from the bin (thrown away in disgust). I spoke in a reasonable tone and because there were other customers, quietly and explained that both meals meat looked like it had been hanging around for a few days as both were totally dried out. The man explained that 'people had different tastes and what one liked another didn't and they were freshly cooked for each order'. I explained that I have had the same meals from the same shop before and in comparison the meat was totally dry and inedible. No apology was given and I was made to feel that it was my fault! I was so cross with this poor customer service that I asked for my money back to be told I could only have the money back for the complete meal returned and none for the other that I threw away and that if I could get the other meal out of the bin I could have that too! My husband, who had not eaten with us was astounded that I (not usually liking to 'make a fuss' about anything) felt this strongly but as soon as he saw the meat totally agreed. This meat looked and tasted worse than that dried meat product biltong!!

Food the same as any other basic Chinese restaurant. Used to be the only one that didn't use MSG. Now full of it which causes me breathing problems. Will avoid in future!

Food tasted ok at the time. although nothing special.Then had a lousy night due to the vast amount of msg in it. This enhances the flavour but does awful things to stomach and lungs. The original Peony didn't use it but food was a bit variable.

Not sure what happened to the chicken in my curry but we weren’t able to eat it. There were some processed chicken pieces but loads of pieces of skin. Definitely gone down hill - will have to find another takeaway.

The chicken was processed and poor quality and the beef was very tough. Food was not very hot and needed to be put in the microwave.

So. Just read some weird reviews in this place. Have been using this place for about 3 years and always good. We drive from Hemel to collect from here and we like the fact a couple of dishes are not actually finished cooking until you actually arrive, and we have had no problems. We have always had good food from here and we visit on a monthly basis.

Got a takeaway tonight - really disappointed. Front of house was not a good experience. Burping from the kitchen, added with the order takers appearance, it did not make me feel confident in ordering. She was eating as I was deciding and then on multiple times picking at her teeth. Food was really bland, quickly went cold. Chicken was really not of a good quality. This is not a well run place anymore. Will not revisit until I start hearing some really positive comments that this place has seriously upped their game.

This has been taken over by new owners, avoid at all costs! The food was disgusting- mushy rice that was over cooked or cooked more than one. Frozen prawns that they actually showed me in a lump of ice when I complained that were on the turn. They even argued with me that prawns are supposed to smell eggy!!! The chicken strips were pink inside and I was told this is normal???? I took the whole order back and they were so rude as if I was being unreasonable. I wish I had taken a photo. I hope I'm not poorly in the next few hours....

I have used this take away for over 25 years, i have never had on bad take away. The food is àlways consistent.

Ordered a takeaway from here bank holiday weekend and when it arrived, all of the chicken dishes were undercooked. Chicken was bright pink and clearly raw, other dishes were nothing special. Returned to peony gardens to complain and management insisted that chicken was meant to be pink and it was 'well cooked'. No where in the UK serves 'pink chicken', why does this place think it's acceptable ? Absolutely shocked and disappointed. Concerned that they didn't just admit this as a mistake and actually showed us a box of the rest of their 'cooked' chicken that was all pink!!!! Fully expecting to be sick tonight/tomorrow. Be warned

The food from here is delicious, I have never had any complaints. Lovely flavours and a nice choice on the menu

Been using this takeaway for over 15 years and always found it to be great service, hot food and order completed efficiently. However, last night the food was cold, the chicken balls we ordered were basically slabs of battered chicken in a bag and the sweet and sour sauce was missing, fried rice did not appear to have seen a frying pan (was waxy, cold and just appeared to have been boiled). On an order of £60+ would have expected better level of customer care when we phoned to complain, but the staff member didn't appear to care. We were told a manager would call back - but of course nobody did. Avoid this place - there are better Chinese takeaways in Abbots Langley by far. We will definitely never use Peony Garden again.

We order from here probably once every couple of months. The food is lovely and always hot, not too greasy either which some Chinese can be. The staff are really lovely and friendly and always offer us a little freebie, either a drink or sometimes prawn crackers.

Nuevo en la zona y primera visita aquí. Menú de 2 llegamos tibios, en el mejor de los con arroz frío dura. Los artículos como a lo que irreconocible ordenados y sin pregunta qué carne realmente independientes. Los sabores son inexistentes y la carne de esa mala calidad, llena de grasa y cartílago. Tanto mi compañero y ahora encontraba con malestar estomacal, tener sólo sabía quizás respirar cada uno.

Ha sido un poco desde que este para llevar ya alejando.

At one time this takeaway was excellent but on my visit recently the food was virtually uneatable .the spicey dishes ordered were not spicey at all the chop suey was almost like a sloppy jelly with a strange taste and the Kung po chicken was cooked in a half cooked batter and the meat did not resemble any thing like chicken ? We had to throw away most of the food but gave some to our dog and he was sick a short time later.From the best to the worst take away I would never revisit again as the food is dubious and I would consider questionable.

Always good food from here, the sweet and sour chicken is very good also the chicken chow mein, would recommend

Rude staff food taste like tinned cooked very dirty went toilets very awful dumpy smell to the place and we had to walk out

Take away not up to usual standard had lamb with ginger and spring onions all greasy and fat straight in the bin won't hurry back

I've been going to this Chinese as long as I can remember under the old management . Under the new management I've rang several times to place an order to then have to wait another 30 minutes as they usually forget ! The squid this time was so chewy it was inedible & the beef & mushrooms looked like dog meat !! Never again sick all night !! All this is down to greed they are

Went there all the time but after moving did use. Returning to have lunch with Grandma decided to go back. Under new management. Food was yummy all cooked fresh and hot. We will be going again soon.

I really love this place, my family order from here every time we get Chinese and I really can't fault them, with such a variety of foods all at high standards it's a really great place to eat! As well as the staff being really friendly!!

My usual take away was closed so after looking for reviews decided on this oneCrispy beef!! yummy!! take away service was very quick and food was lovely may well be getting in the car more often!!

I haven't been for a while but the receiptionist from Malaysia remembered us by name. I was impressed! Loved everything we ordered, hot and sour soup, salt and pepper squids you can actually taste the squid, not too much butter! Very good portion the special fried rice and shredded chili beef (would prefer slightly spicy). Thanks for the free red bean paste spring rolls, very creative. Will be back soon!

Have been ordering from this Chinese for years! The family who run it are always polite and friendly, food is great especially the sweet and sour chicken - food of the Gods!

Previous bad review a bit harsh - lovely family been their a while - always had pleasant service myself - give them a break everyone has off days but they don't all come with a decent chilli prawns :)

They have the best sweet and sour chicken you will ever taste. Instead of the cheap balls you normally get in a takeaway they cook a whole chicken breast and slice it up into portions. Staff are friendly
