Peking Garden in Three Rivers

I received such verbal abuse from the owner of this establishment, after complaining for the first time after being a LOYAL customer for years. Fortunately I’ve never dealt with the owner prior to this experience, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been a loyal customer. We only wanted a small takeaway order, salt & pepper chips. The chips were given and as I walked back to the car I tasted them - the ones I tried were hard inside. I immediately returned and asked for them to be replaced, I apologised whilst asking!! The chef was clearly disgruntled by this and made two new portions. I left with the fresh chips, however I noticed the normal ingredients, onions and garlic were missing. I didn’t have time to ask for the chips to be made correctly again after waiting 40 minutes, so i phoned on my way home. The lady asked what should she do and I said suggested as a goodwill gesture the chips should be covered in my next order as these are still not what I paid for. I was told the owner would call me later to discuss - if needed. I received a call from the owner awhile later. The owner first told me that there was nothing wrong with the chips and all his staff members ate them the leftover returned portions. I asked what benefit would I have to bring uneaten chips back and why he would assume I’d lie for fun? I didn’t ask for anything other than a replacement at this point. I told him I travel far to come to this restaurant and have been coming for years. He said that none of that was relevant. The owner continued to imply I was a liar, shouting that he’s worked for 40 years and he’s now wasted four bags of chips. I told him this conversation is for his chef that wasted the first two bags, however I STILL paid for the two bags of chips I collected so I’m the one that’s out of pocket, not him. He continued to shout at me and not listen to what I had to say. The owner thought it was appropriate to act this way towards me, after I have been a loyal customer for so many years, with staff members knowing my name and it is incredibly disappointing. I am truly shocked at his over reaction for two portions of chips. I won’t be returning. I don’t need abuse when I’m paying such extortionate prices.

Look at recent reviews. All the local guides giving it 5 star reviews because they have been payed to do so. Legitimate local customers giving 1 star. Save yourself from the lies and order form literally any other restaurant to avoid disappointing food and service.

Peking Garden was a disappointing experience overall. The food lacked flavour and fell short of expectations, especially given the high prices. For what we paid, the quality just wasn’t there. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

Just got back from this restaurant, I have never seen bad service like this before. Most of the staff are rude and when I refused to pay the service charged the member of staff told me not to come back again. If i could i would rate the service a 0. Let me add everything is rushed and even trying to swap a table is hard work they have no understanding when you have a young child.

We have been eating at this restaurant for years and recently the decline in the quality of service and food has been drastic. Kiki is a rude and unhappy person, she was nasty and argued about everything. The other man was equally disgusting. We really like the owner but haven’t seen him lately. When we mentioned the food didn’t taste anything like before, they kept blaming a new chef and then argued with us when we were being polite the whole time . We shall never go again to this restaurant.

Absolutely terrible service! Ordered a lot of food for delivery, came quickly and was hot as we live locally which was great However the order was wrong. They sent wrong items and when I had reached out they have just constantly ignored me and do not care Don’t bother wasting your money with these absolute fools who don’t know how to treat customers right! For the price you pay here you’d expect good quality service Mistakes happen, that’s not the issue. The issue is how they have constantly just ignored the fact they have made a mistake and have done nothing about it Very rude old man who runs this place!!!

Good local Chinese restaurant in the Moor Park Estate. Service always top notch and I must say their crispy noodles r to die for. Updated 4th November 2023 The gentleman who runs the place gave me a table when It was fully booked fireworks night.. thank u and also.. boy oh boy, them crispy noodles are something special

Originally told me takeaway pick up would be 45mins at the end of the call they said come in 15- great! Expensive. Had to wait behind someone paying in huge amounts of cash (local clientele). However they made me gluten free Chinese - almost impossible to get anywhere - and it was literally the most DELICIOUS thing ever !!! ( I throw up immediately if im glutened, still well the next day.) THANK YOU.

We used to visit Peking Garden with family and friends regularly but hadn't been for some time. It was a Saturday night and we were in a big group of 14 persons. The restaurant was full. The food was fantastic - we are vegetarians and they have a large choice. The service on this specific evening was GREAT - very attentive! One waitress was constantly coming and checking up on us and refilling as required! We have got to know the owner quite well who is always present and helping to ensure a smooth operation.

Been many times to this restaurant before as we did previously enjoyed the food. Our starters were fine but unfortunately the Singapore fried noodles vegetarian , green beans with chillie ( very soggy) chicken dishes were bland. We always used to order these dishes abut this time they were very disappointing. Initially when we brought it to the waitress’s attention about the noodles she came back stating more sauce been pinkish sauce added but still no difference. We did bring it to Manager’ s attention nut he was very defensive stating we should have specified that we wanted the beens to be crunchy. We were not charged for the noodles and we didn’t finish the dishes. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Waitresses were speaking to each other in Chinese when they were clearing up. Should they be doing this?

Came for a family lunch and I must say the food was spot on, absolutely delicious. Caters for vegetarians and nut allergy .

After reading some of the reviews on here we was very apprehensive on our first visit to this restaurant but our experience was great? Staff were attentive and served us really quickly. We asked for a dish change due to allergies and they were more than happy to accommodate. Considering the restaurant was fully booked Food came out quick and was plentiful Enjoyed all the dishes The manager came round to each table for a little chat which I thought was lovely and also greeted us and thanked us when we left. Happily paid the service charge. Overall lovely experience with Great food will definitely be returning.

Delicious food and lots of vegetarian options (though noting that many of the main dishes are mock meat dishes - tofu- something to keep in mind). Enjoyed our meal. Service by our server, Jo, was great; however in general the staff are not super friendly. Decorum is pleasant. Wine menu by the glass is very limited but there are plenty of cocktail options. Dishes are on the pricier side for a local restaurant but portion sizes are pretty generous.

The bad reviews on this restaurant are 100% valid. The staff are extremely rude to their customers. I had a very terrible experience that I cannot recount at this restaurant today. Considering the bad reviews from other customers it is very likely that the days in operation of this business are numbered unless the owner is ready to turn things around. You have been warned, do not go there!!!

Unbelievably poor customer service- literally beyond bad. The manager was shouting at other customers in the restaurant, insisting they vacate in 2 hours (the other customers were fine with this, but he kept shouting and going over to to disturb peoples meals to tell them in a rude manner). When we arrived he rudely made it clear we have to be gone in 2 hours, we said OK yes that is fine and we likely will not be more than an hour, yet he continued to forcefully insist it had to be 2 hours and they are busy and we must leave! Food was nothing special. Totally ruined a mother's day meal as we were anxious to just leave

Food was nice but staff are EXTREMELY rude! The customer service is honestly terrible, and reading a few other reviews it seems like a lot of people feel the same.

It wasn’t good at all. We disliked every dish that we didn’t even order a main. Arrived at 8pm and left at 8.45pm. The service was okay but the food was terrible. This is what we got: *Pepper Prawns (salt & chilli) 3/10 Clearly overcooked, tough, taste was meh, very little garnish. *Crispy mongolian lamb 1/10 Oh my lord!!! CRISPY!!! Literally no meat and just triple fried skin…. It was awful beyond measure…. Never order this if you decide to go. *Steamed dumplings 3/10 One set was okay, the other was super tough and chewy. *Chilli pepper wings - 2/10 Tough meat with just salt and pepper, its like they just double deep fried the wings and just wacked some garnish on top after instead of cooking with it. We left 2/6 wings. *Fried asparagus with thai sweet chilli 5/10 The only decent thing on the menu and it was okay, nothing compared to Thai-pan. Overall, it wasn’t a great meal, and very cramped place with lots of big groups. I said service was okay but there were times they were a little rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and if you’re thinking Chinese, Thai-pan is where you should go.

Used to love coming here but after seeing the manager pour back wine that wasn’t finished by another customer back into the bottle, who knows what else they do! Service is awful. So rude and rushed. Definitely wouldn’t go back.

We love this restaurant. The food is excellent and menu extensive. The staff is friendly and welcoming. A rare jewel and we are fortunate to have it so near to our home.

Absolutely awful service , as soon as we walked in we was not felt welcome. We could see them talking about us and whispering to one another staring at us. The waitress was so rude ,my starters came out with everyone else’s mains and they do not seem to come to our table and ask if everyone was ok. Be careful as they add extra things to your bill and say you have ordered it , they added 98 pound extra to our bill and said we ordered it. I too embarrassed to argue as she became very aggressive when I challenged the bill. We spent almost £500 i will never take my money there again. The food was good but not worth being made feel like you’re not wanted or valued.

Staff were extremely rude! Booked in advance and they were informed there would be 2 buggies. The staff said only 1 was allowed around the table. Staff asked if one of the babies car seat could be put on a chair. Completely unacceptable and should not be turning business away or asking customers to do such a thing. The restaurant was far from busy with only 6 other customers. Left after the way we were spoken to by staff. Would not visit again!

A very good Chinese restaurant with a large range of menu options, a bit of a small restaurant so it can feel noisy and packed when busy

We had a lovely evening meal at this very busy, well run restaurant. The staff were fast, friendly and welcoming. The service wasn’t the fastest but was at an acceptable pace to allow maximum enjoyment. The food quality was high, portion sizes generous and although not the cheapest, great value nonetheless given the quality. We will definitely be back.

I went to Peaking Gardens in Moor Park for dinner with close friends. On the day of the booking, someone called me at lunchtime to confirm the booking. I missed their call, so a voicemail was sent. It basically said if I didn't call urgently they will cancel my table, as other people want to book. She was very rude in the voice mail, saying call back, callback! In a rude tone.  When we got to the restaurant we were put in a corner table, so tight to pass the other table near us. When we ordered our starters, then the waitress was rushing to pick up our prawn crackers, when I said we're still eating. She picked my friends cocktail before she had finished it!!!. Waitress was also not helpful when I asked about vegetarian options.  When the bill came we decided not to pay the service charge, manager came over and very rudely said why we didn't like the service! We said the waitress was rude, abrupt and overall the service was terrible. He didn't apologise instead said if you don't give the tip to the staff,then next time you come they will not give you good service as you didn't tip them!!. We said we won't be returning, he said yes don't come back!!how RUDE! Also infront of other customers he said we're the only one's who complained today, shouting loudly to humilate us. Never going there again!

Amazing Chinese food, great staff love the restaurant

Good food and atmosphere service is very quick but they pick up our plates after we done without asking which I think it's imporatant. But overall all good, the place is inside residential area and easy to find parking !

Definitely not as good as I remember it to be... The food quality just isn't there anymore. And a lot of the food was a bit on the sweeter side. Last time I had been was pre-covid days and the food was very tasty back then. Probably not likely to go anytime soon.

The service from the waiting staff was amazing, served very politely and the food was excellent. The smoked chicken, egg fried rice, crispy beef with carrots and sizzling beef were so good. Will definitely come back again.

Unless you want to be humiliated, I suggest NOT going here. Despite the eery atmosphere as soon as you walk-in, the restaurant is poorly maintained & very drab looking. Having received news about my mums cancer diagnosis, who is a single parent, we wanted to eat out & cheer ourselves up. The crippled paper menu held together by some string, was hard to read with fainted text. The prices were similar to Central London, so quite over priced for such a depressing restaurant. £14 a dish to say the least. Having ordered our food (5 dishes), it all miraculously arrived in 3 minutes. Little cooking required obviously as it tasted pre-cooked. The rice was dry. And the curries were not flavoursome. Just tasted of salt. The chicken was extremely dry. Having opted to not pay the Service Charge as it’s OPTIONAL. The Manager then came over & laughed “Of course, you can choose not to pay the SC, but just know that next time, you’re NOT welcome here”. Now had he said this discretely, I would have respected him. Instead, he shouted this out in front of the entire restaurant. And then he just kept repeating himself. Just to make us feel as small as an ANT. Not sure what the manager’s/owners problem is but he seemed to go above & beyond to HUMILIATE us. The whole evening, my mum & me were so upset with the treatment we received. The SC is OPTIONAL. NOT COMPULSORY. There was nothing to pay extra for. There was NO ‘service’ even provided. A miserable looking Restaurant with rubbish cooked food. 👏🏼 Disgrace of Restaurant & Manager.

A well established local favourite. Priced correctly, consistently good service, great place

Excellent food but: there is no mobile phone signal, neither mobile data 4G - 5G. The establishment should at least offer free WiFi that costs nothing to them. It’s quite annoying when organising a group of diners trying to communicate with each other whether they are late, early orders etc.

This is the only Chinese restaurant I go to because they are consistently good. Love their mock duck, vegetarian lettuce wrap, salt and pepper broccoli, fried bean curd in blackbean sauce, vegetarian Singapore noodles, mixed vegetables in blackbean sauce and vegetable fried rice!

Not so busy as it use to be. The standards and quality of food and service has dropped and is below par level. They use to be great but those days are no longer. They must evaluate the standards they previously set and try get back to those levels.

We ordered a takeaway as we’re new to the area. The gentleman on the phone was very helpful and friendly, delivery was fast and again very friendly. However, our order for five people wasn’t excessive but it cost just under £125!!! £25 per person. The food was hot but the noodles were poor as were so eod the other dishes. If you want an adequate takeaway for a high price then go for it, otherwise give it a miss. We won’t be back.

The food is great. We got takeaway from here a few weeks ago and the Kung Po (vegetarian chicken) and the mock duck pancakes were delicious. We ordered on Saturday evening and understandably it is a busy time at this point but the food did take quite a long time to be prepared for collection from point of order (almost 1.5 hours) so not sure whether they were slightly understaffed. On the whole the fantastic food was worth the wait.

Extremely rude staff who forget our middle course and had to be reminded twice. Waited over 40 mins for it to arrive. Then got charged 15 pounds for service charge which we refused to pay. Will never return. Have better service/wait staff in Perth, Australia.

First time customer for a lunch time meal! Food was ok but bland. The customer service was awful. The man who served us was so rude and we felt as though we shouldn’t be there because we had disturbed his day! We were the only customers in the restaurant so I expected a better service and for that reason alone I would not return! Horrible man! If this is the type of service they offer I wouldn’t go back.

After using this establishment for 30 years the manager informed me that I was no longer welcome due to the fact I didn’t leave a service charge when I visited previously. After explaining to him clearly that I felt no need to as the waitress had slammed plates down in front of us and provided a shocking service with a face to match. He then made the excuse that the staff wouldn’t serve us despite the 30 year loyalty. On the back of this my colleges who had never been before pointed out the fact the flooring is absolutely filthy and questioned why I had used it for so long. What used to be a nice dining experience has clearly let standards slip including the quality of the staff. I wasn’t aware it’s the law in this country to leave a £15 tip for rubbish service.

Came here recently for dinner with some friends, after what feels like a long time! Really missed the food here, so decided to come back now. We were seated quickly, and the servers were helpful and friendly. Food tasted great, as always, and didn't take too long to arrive. Overall, another positive experience, and hopefully will be back again soon!

The best Chinese I have eaten in years! Great restaurant and staff

Food is delicious, I skmetimes make trips to London from the North just for their delicious dumplingsnand braised fish. Sometimes abit cramped and loud, but of little matter.

Went for a meal today and the manager took an order for a vegetables dish where we told him to add cashews. He agreed and the dish turned up without the cashews. When we POLITELY complained he said he didn’t charge for the cashews, so it was acceptable not to give them. He said he will take it off the bill, but asked us to never come back again! I have never met such an arrogant and rude manager like him and I out of principle wouldn’t go back there ever again. He obviously doesn’t need our business but with his attitude I hope he shuts down.

Lovely food but unfortunately had a bad experience ordering a takeaway with someone who even lied about there name. I think some of the staff could do with a bit of training with customer service.

Actually 10 stars for the awesome service, 👌 the restaurant was full and busy and we thought our order will take time but surprisingly they were efficient and quick, great flavour ful food and amazed at the perfect spice level. My only critique would be the quantity of the portions, for the price they shouldn't be such small portions. Experience ended with nice presentations of hot wet wipes. Overall brilliant 👏 highly recommended

I have never seen such nonsense- who on earth do these people think they are The manager is a first class nutter. If you actually walk to the rear of the building and look into the kitchen it’s filthy.

Food was very good. The service however made the whole experience feel rushed, overshadowing the good food. The table turnaround was only 1h 45 mins and close to the end time they started clearing the table and handed the bill without being polite about it. The staff were efficient but i think they should be more friendly.

The food was delicious, and I can't argue with that. However, the waitress serving us had a bit of an attitude problem, was very rushed, and just seemed to want to rush us with our meal.

Regular local sit-in and takeaway customers, the food here is usually very good. However, tonight our takeaway food tasted strange (including chicken) so we called to ask for a partial refund. Very rude telephone service, said that we were 'taking advantage' and only grudgingly agreed to refund the two dishes. We will not be returning, which is a shame.

Very rude staff, they have no clue when customers are asking for things, they ignore you and don’t serve you. They have no understanding of English at all, they need to be trained. The manager, the short man with the glasses, it’s extremely rude, raised voices when talking to o our family. He needs to be re trained and spoken too. There were 16 of us and we were very disappointed with the service. We had to ask about 3 times for our things or extra condiments. Food was decentish with a 3-4 star, but the above ruled out everything due to poor attitude and lack of training for staff. When ordering veg menu and non veg menu, the food should all come out together, not the veg only which all got cold. The entire family should eat together. Staff need to be more understanding and empathetic, please learnt this. Far to over priced for the awful service we got. Staff not welcoming. Too quiet in the restaurant, need some background music to change the mood, all you can hear is large groups of people talking which is very off putting. We will not be coming back here again

Great place to dine and get good service.

Rude waitresses and very average food, I have used this restaurant for 30 plus years and have seen the standards fall massively and basically turn from a lovely dining experience into a cafe style affair. The food now is twice as expensive and half the portion size that is literally thrown in front of you by someone wanting to not be there, it’s a massive disappointment having known the quality and standards previously. The carpet is absolutely filthy and it makes me wonder what the rest of the establishment is like We never paid the service charge and left with no intention of returning as the local takeaway is probably friendlier and cleaner.

Visited Peking Garden evening of 29th October with my Husband & brother following a recommendation from a friend. What a mistake! Soon as we arrived the manager abruptly told us to quickly sit down & order in 15 minutes else we will not be served. From his tone & welcome we should have left. We thought he was having a bad day & carried on ordered food quickly. Food was ok nothing special & very expensive. (£100 for three of us). We requested the OPTIONAL gratuity to be removed from the bill did not think it deserving. At this point the Manager came over & started shouting at us in front of all the other customers asking why we did not want to pay the gratuity. I politely said as it was optional, we would like it removed. He continued to shout at us telling us that if we don't pay the gratuity how could we expect staff to serve us & how will they get paid he basically told us to leave & not return! We said very little. However, while leaving I said to the manager that he did not need to shout, he could have spoken politely, He said he did not care and started yelling again(I thought the optional gratuity was a bonus for the staff not their wages) The Manager said saying he did not care who I told I could go & tell The Queen. We have been to restaurants all over England & many other countries around the world & have never ever come across such rudeness & poor customer service. Can't believe we paid money to be shouted at!

Best chineese restaurant in London

We went for Sunday lunch with friends. Had a lovely time. Food was excellent so was the service, and they catered for a friend’s nut allergy too. Lots of options for vegetarians. Prices are rather expensive but for a special occasion, it’s worth it

Coming to visit the restaurant but was not impressed with the food .I order non veg hot and sour soup which did not taste as I Have tasted in other restaurant and the chicken and shrimps were very cold and no umami taste was not there .Veg rice Were not cooked well .Hope you improves.

We had a lovely anniversary dinner at the Peking Garden. The welcome was warm, staff friendly and attentive throughout. The food quality was very high and portion sizes generous. Prices were reasonable given the quality. Well worth a visit

Located in Moor Park, a really impressive area and the restaurant fits in well.... I had sweet n sour chicken and egg fried rice, nice and easy and simple..... rice was greasy and warm, sweet n sour chicken was dry and crunchy. Definitely not freshly cooked, was disappointed and expected more.... not going back

This time I went with a friend and service was better as compared to last time. Food was amazing. Definitely worth it.

Being a regular at this restaurant, I have come to expect good food and average service. On this occasion the food was good, I have no fault in that. The service was one of the worse I have experienced. Rude staff, had to ask multiple times for food and drinks and my child was shouted at for being in the way. The worst part was that at the end of the meal, there were three drinks and a mains dish added to the bill. When I mentioned that we didn't order or receive these, they argued with me and reluctantly removed them from the bill. At the same time, they added additional cost for ordering extra "sauces" out of spite, which weren't on the bill originally. When I raised this with the manager he said "I can't control my staff" and said that he would give us free sauce next time we came! He didn't remove the charge off our bill though... There won't be another time fella. Shameful. Enjoy your extra £2. Never going there again.

Not authentic caters for a local crowd as opposed to showcasing the flavour that Chinese food has to offer... many of the dishes seemed average maybe even pre prepped... Great service though but wouldn't say I would be back for food... Not the choice of a foodie...

Absolutely a delight to dine here. Tasty Chinese food with a large variety of vegetarian food. Well seasoned and good every time with very friendly staff. Highly recommend dining here.

FOOD POISONING! my wife and I both got struck with it, been out of it for 2 days and have now missed a business trip to Malta! Stay well away from this place!

The food was bland, the service was non existent, there was no atmosphere as the restaurant was silent as a grave. The decor was from the 60’s and the carpet was a spectacle to behold, as it looked like noodle soup😋. I would not recommend this place for edible food!

Good food but expensive and over-priced. The restaurant was packed and so noisy we couldn't hear each other. Too many people, no ambience, and slow service.

My husband and I have dined often at this restaurant , usually on a Saturday night. Last night we dined with another couple, The food as usual was very good and plentiful. We decided to take away the food we had not managed to finish from our mains but the waitress told us they charged for the containers! We were astonished, never having been charged for them before. They did concede to letting us have 3 in the end, which wasn't quite enough for the rice. We ordered a dessert, Toffee banana and Toffee apple. I cut into mine and was disappointed to find a very small segment of apple in the Toffee and 2 very squashed slices of banana in the other. Such a shame that they skimped on the desserts and containers as our friends had not been there before and were not impressed with these two faux pas.

Excellent Chinese food. Helpful and friendly staff

Delicious food, excellent customer service, nice ambience. What more can one ask for? The Ho fun noodles were very tasty as was the beef satay skewer.

Never actually made it to the restaurant to try the food! We are staying locally, and like to call restaurants in advance due to husband being coeliac. The listing on here states gluten free options, so called to check husbands order is available gluten free. Was aggressively told we were speaking to the owner & was told to check their menu (which we had & there was no info on it) when we said there was no information on the online menu, she shouted “I don’t have time for this” and put the phone down! Never been spoken to in this way by any restaurant, it was just plain rude!

A lovely restaurant with pleasant , attentive staff and scrumptious food. We were introduced to it, by our friends in Moor Park and it’s now a joint favourite the food is just impeccable and super yum.

Super disappointed. Went for newyears eve meal. Found a hair in my food and when I bought this to waiter attention he sent the manager who said to me that the hair was not greasy enough to come from the kitchen. What does that mean.lol. He totally embarrassed himself with what he said Won't be eating there again.
