Fab food and a very warm welcome. I had the steak pie with mash and peas. Cannot show a picture as I ate it all. The husband had the oink and Moo . Ribs fell of the bone. Would definitely come again.

We were staying at the Motorhome park close by and called in for a meal and a few drinks We were made to feel very welcome by the staff , we had a few drinks and a couple of curries. Very happy good food and great service

We decided to stop here having read the TripAdvisor reviews! We were not disappointed. The gammon and chips and Steak and Ale pie were all excellent. The gammon was juicy and the pie had actual lumps of meat! Our dogs were welcomed and given a treat. The staff were great,attentive and pleasant. We can definitely recommend this pub.

Recommend by staff at ocean heights, I had the chicken burger my partner had the barbecue chicken and both meals excellent.

We arrived at 1.30 after pre booking. Our table wasn't quite ready but the pleasant gentleman behind the bar asked would we like a drink while we were waiting and they would call us when they were ready. We did this and only waited a few minutes. The place was very busy and booking is strongly advised. We were seated in the restaurant and offered a choice of beef or turkey or half and half , which my husband and myself had. The plate consisted of turkey, beef, carrots,peas,swede,cabbage,roast potatoes,boiled potatoes, stuffing, yorkshire pudding and a boat of gravy. My husband had the gluten free option and was very happy to have a gluten free yorkshire pudding and gravy! The food was plentiful. We decided against a dessert although it did look lovely. Choice of chocolate fudge cake, apple crumble jam sponge were avaliable. Not sure about gf options as didn't want any. At a cost of £10.95 this was great value for money. Pleasant staff and all very helpful. Thank you.

Lovely, proper pub food. Reasonably priced and good portions. Had lasagne with good salad, loads of chips and very cheesy. Just how I like it. The wife had 1/2 a chicken. Again good size and lovely food. Waitress was very amenable and attentive. Honest pub food, good atmosphere and dog and family friendly.

My wife and I ordered the mixed grill and beer battered fish and chips. We couldn't believe the size of the portions. The quality was second to none. And the staff can't do enough to make you feel welcome. Absolutely well done. As Arnie says, we'll be back.

Don’t let the appearance deceive you. This may look like just a little locals pub in Wales but it manages to do something else as well - serve AMAZING pub food. It’s not a bistro pub by any stretch but the grills are simply sublime. It’s good honest pub food done to perfection. Another thing this pub has in abundance is great staff. From the owner to the bar tender, they all want you to have a nice time whilst visiting their pub. We had 2 mains, the gammon and the mixed grill. The mixed grill is a dying art in the UK and if I see it in a menu I can’t help myself. This mixed grill did not disappoint and all the meat was cooked just the right way. My only little thing would be to have a butchers sausage rathe than the standard one but I like it either way. Lots of drinks to choose from on tap as well as bottled wines (small bottles). Would defo eat here again if ever in New Quay as it’s good honest food at a good prices.

From their Facebook page Fantastic family Pub and Restaurant, with great food and the best beer. However Table reservations are required. You can’t just turn up. So we called them, but if all you want is a drink you can’t reserve a table. And you can’t go in without having a table reserved. Almost as if they want to be a restaurant and not a pub. Even though on their facebook and google pages they describe themselves as a pub. Just one that won’t allow you in if you don’t want food. This is a real shame. I know it’s years ago but when the neuadd caravan park was our every weekend destination the Penrhiwillan. Or Smokies as we knew it was our destination every night as it was too far to walk to the seahorse. Fred on the organ and a great night out. Even when this area was dry on a Sunday the Penrhiwillan was always open you just had to know where the back door was. Tonight we thought it would be nice as we are in the area to call in for a pint but it seems this isn’t a service this pub provides anymore. It’s a real shame to see this, I understand that the business model changes but turning away customers seems a bit drastic.

The best Sunday lunch in Ceredigion. Always in demand and early booking is advisable. Quality of food is exceptional, generous portions and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit - tell them Gary sent you!

A great local pub with excellent food. We regularly go there for takeaway Sunday lunch, but also have evening meals there, would highly recommend this pub and it’s grub. Staff are also as good as their food.

Located near a camp site so gets busy - book ahead. Proper pub grub - fair pricing and decent typical pub menu. Dog & people friendly - warm welcome extended to those with 2 legs and 4. Would recommend and would deffo return.

Very friendly welcome when we popped in for drinks and food twice during our stay in the area. The portions were massive and the meals (lasagne and steak and ale pie) appeared to be home made and were very tasty. Dog friendly and great service, the staff couldn't do enough.

Normally I'm fine dinning person but we couldn't find anywhere to have Sunday lunch so booked here at the last minute & was really surprised lovely friendly weekend we both had toast beef & trimmings it was delicious fresh & so tasty definitely recommend

Heard some good comments about the Penrhiwllan since moving to New Quay. Not disappointed following our visit with friends for lunch on Sunday. Food was hot and portions were good. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Title says it all, big portions, good quality pub food. Warm welcome. Lots of local competition but I always find my way back here. Pint of beer and a massive piece of cod with chips, can’t fault it.

We have been. Here 3 times this week for tea and have found it very welcoming, good menu choice, good size and was super easy to get to. Staff are all very accommodating and welcoming and also very attentive.

Just collected 2 Sunday roasts for our Easter dinner. Absolutely lovely, piping hot and very generous portions. Have eaten Sunday lunch there before lockdown, and it was exactly the same quality and quantity. Great service too! Must book tho, very popular

We ate here again last Saturday night, (21st Nov). It’s off season and the customers are clearly local people. Budgie the landlord and Jake his manager run a tight ship! Cracking food, great welcome and a real pub atmosphere! Despite all the difficulties the CV19 pandemic has brought, our bottle of Merlot was at a perfect temperature, and my goodness, the chef here is on a roll! This is some of the VERY best food I’ve had in a pub for a long, long time! We both had starters, and my spicy chicken wings really hit the spot! With a real chilli warmth! This was followed by beer battered cod and chips with mushy peas. The beer battered fish was elevated to a new level! Large chunks of flaky white cod in a crispy, crunchy batter. The portion was stunning, as you can see from the picture the tail had to be folded over to fit the plate! Fantastic! We both left very, very happy! We’ll be back!!

Our family visited here for evening meal a month ago whilst on holiday. Huge serving of crispy battered fish, fresh not frozen chips, steaks were melting in your mouth and the best jacket potato I’ve ever tasted. We were so impressed, we tried to book for the Sunday too. As expected, it was fully booked. Returned there last weekend during an overnight stay In New Quay and managed to book a table for Sunday. It was well worth the wait. Beef and Turkey was so tender (you could have both), 6 bottomless vegetables and all fresh, proper stuffing balls, (not Paxo), Yorkshire pudding, and proper stock thick gravy, not Bisto. My mouth is watering even as I’m writing this. This restaurant is definitely a 1st choice on my list when visiting New Quay in future.The staff were wonderful, and are very strict whilst adhering to it’s Co-Vid Prevention practice.

Visited here based on reviews o your site stating best homemade food. Far from it. The food was obviously frozen foid and the sticky toffee pudding was a microwavable pot pudding. Over priced and dreadful even for pub grub.

Food was lovely and staff very good. Social distancing very well managed. My brother had the Ribeye which looked great. Chips are fab! Highly recommend if you want proper pub grub!

We were staying locally and read some good reviews about this place and decided to try it for ourselves. I am so glad that we did! The minute we walked through the door, we were made to feel relaxed and welcome. We also felt safe with regards to the COVID 19 measures in place- hand sanitiser as soon as you walk in, tables well spaced, spotlessly clean. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the fish and chips, which was stunning. Huge piece of fish which melted in your mouth, in a beautiful light batter. Quite possibly the best I have ever tasted. Excellent prices, brilliant service, piping hot food- cannot fault this place in any way. Will definitely be going back next time we are in the area.

Ate here very recently.... staff very friendly and welcoming. Sat promptly and all covid regulations in place. Order taken quickly and very good with my husbands allergies.Starters took about 25 mins to come but food was hot and lovely no check back carried out. Cleared and mains arrived. Hot home cooked food..... again no check back given. We sat for a while not seeing anyone so decided no dessert and moved into the bar.I lived in the village for most of my life so walking in and seeing locals is always a good recommendation. A few adjustments on service would have given 5 stars a little more attentiveness and those check backs would really help

What a fantastic atomosphere! Popped in to this Cat friendly Inn for a couple of pints (Superb pint of Carling and wife loved Black Dragon Cider) while staying at the Camping site next door. Covid restrictions were followed very efficiently yet everyone was made happy to do so. Well recommended.

I visit often and always receive a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere. The food and beer is great. Big screen TV's are always on quietly with SKY sport a favourite. Budgie (owner) is a massive character and his staff are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Nice log fire in the colder weather. I can't wait for my next visit. Perfect.

This place was amazing! One of the few pubs and restaurants in the area who actually gave top customer service! We tried booking in on Sunday night but they were booked up and very apologetic, so we booked for Monday night. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere was friendly-waiting staff, bar staff and landlord were all brilliant. The food was amazing-couldn’t fault it at all. I’m veggie, and although there’s only a couple of choices (perfect for me!), my lasagne was delicious! The Bloke ordered gammon, and I don’t think he needs to eat anything for the next two weeks...happy days! We will definitely be back! Thank you so much for such a lovely evening of proper pub grub. I rarely rank places as 5 but cannot fault the welcome I had in this establishment.From the moment I walked in with my parents I was made to feel welcome and had interaction with the manager/owner.He showed us to the restaurant part of the building and the service was still as friendly as ever.Would not hesitate to return to this pub again if I visit the area in the near future

On a visit to NewQuay we stayed close to this lovely little pub. On our second night we decided to eat here. The food was all fresh and delicious and portions were generous with all the trimmings. Very friendly young man behind the bar and food brought to the table by the chef. Very friendly and welcoming environment. It is clearly used by regulars as everyone knew each other, making a nice atmosphere.

We have just visited this pub for an evening meal and although it wasn’t busy there was a good atmosphere and it was warm and friendly. The food is good and plentiful. It’s brought to you by the chef and definitely looks and tastes homemade. I would definitely recommend.

We've been coming to New Quay for decades and not visited here until last night. Oh I wish we had. The Ales are perfect and the food is amazing. Our party of four ordered four different dishes and they were all beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. The staff are very friendly, the pub is clean and cozy, it's just perfect. It is a popular pub and the bar was quite busy. We booked a table in the restaurant where the atmosphere was a little quieter. The food was good pub grub, we had steak and ale pie, vegetable lasagna & chicken tikka masala, all were delicious. The portions were very generous. IT was good value for money.

We came here for Sunday Lunch whilst on holiday after reading the reviews and wish we hadn't bothered, there were three people in our party and not one enjoyed it. The meal was rushed with the food coming out within five minutes of sitting down, would have been nice to enjoy a drink first! When the food came out all I can say was a huge disappointment, we were served TINNED (Are we in the 1970's)PEAS, frozen carrots, frozen cabbage, frozen Swede and frozen royalties and as for the gravy.....well I don't think it was gravy more like a gravy boat of light brown bloop. They also don't do starters or puddings on a Sunday so for anyone who comes here for Sunday Lunch beware as none of the food is fresh. Also the meat was beef or turkey and the beef was brisket and the turkey was as dry as old boots. Definitely won't be returning!

Visited with a large group of 13. Made to feel welcome on entry and shown to the table . The food was fast , piping hot and amazing Firstly a few of us had the fish and chips , the beer batter handmade and the fish was so big that it couldn’t fit on the plate it was by far the best fish I have ever eaten I struggled with the size but the quality and taste urged me to the end , homemade chips were also cooked to perfection.A few members had the curry and commented that it was again the nicest curry they have tasting with the chicken just falling away with little effort and the flavours were just unrealSteve the owner is a really funny and attentive guy and will do his best to make your visit amazing definitely will be coming back on the next visitChris , Stace & Co

The pub was half way up the hill out of New Quay, so a welcome stop on our walk back on a very hot weekend. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Food looked nice too though we didn't eat there.

Superb food provided at this pub. We had a starter of garlic mushrooms and it came with lovely garlic bread. The main course was Barbecue half chicken which came with a choice of chipped, mash, boiled of jacket potatoes, peas and salad. The staff were excellent and very attentive

Ended up here after we couldn’t get anywhere to eat in New Quay (party of 8). Read reviews before and seemed very good so gave it a try - have to say the food was top drawer and staff were brilliant, would definitely go back when we are next in this part of Wales.

I ordered fish and chips. The cod steak was large and thick with hand cut potato chips. In other words, just what proper British fish and chips should be. An excellent meal for £8.99
