Popped in for lunch while in Stratford with my daughter. Had a really lovely meal and we were looked after by Craig.

Visited Stratford for the day. Saw this pub,liked the look of it. Entered the pub,we were approached and asked if we were having a drink or food or both. We were shown a selection of tables to sit at as we hadn't booked. They took our drinks order,bought the menu to us. We chose our food from a lovely menu and it was reasonably priced. Service was quick,food was excellent and beautifully presented. A good price too. The staff and service was first class. Couldn't fault anything. It was so nice entering a pub/restaurant where they welcomed you and drinks and food were served to you at your table. (no phone app needed to be used to order anything) the staff were frequently walking by to make sure all was OK. Brilliant....Will definitely return and would definitely recommend. Thankyou and don't change anything,you've got customer service,food , drink and pricing bang on.

Visited as a couple, pre-booked a table for lunch. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful Sunday lunch this New Year's Eve, with a big shout out to Sean and Elizabet 👍 We were served with a smile and left with a smile 😁 Food and drink were lovely, thank you, especially the sticky toffee pudding and custard 😉 Keep up the good work xx

Ate here with family just before Christmas and enjoyed some very good food. As we visited here on the 23rd December we thought it would be very busy but it wasn’t too hectic which was good.

We’ve been to lots of other Green King pubs and the food is usually decent but the food here was excellent. It was food you would expect from a higher-end pub. Plates were warm and food were hot. We were a party of 11 and usually one or two family members will moan about something- there was not one complaint about their food. Thank you for making our Christmas get-together enjoyable. I would definitely recommend a meal at this friendly pub.

Excellent. Each one of us had a different meal and we were very impressed by the service, choice and quality of the food. Coupled with great service and lovely banter from Dimitrios and Sion, it's somewhere we would definitely visit again and thoroughly recommend. Well done, we WILL be back.

This isn't a poor review just for the sake of doing one but an open and honest one. We booked for the Christmas day menu, having dined at the P&P and enjoyed the experience. Let's face it, there are many choices for Christmas day .Bad choice made!!!! We we're booked for 1430 and arrived at 1425. All good with a lovely table with a selection box and a card. Drinks orders taken, and starter's arrived. All good, no issues, and starter's were nice. Unfortunately, that's when things went wrong. After the starter's were cleared, we sat and sat and sat. A couple walked out as they were less than complimentary regarding the food. We carried on waiting,staff & managers kept looking at us and finally after around 45 minutes a member of staff came and asked what we were wanting for. When we said our mains he seemed quite shocked. Then about 20 minutes later our food arrived. I can only imagine that they had to scramble little scrap bits together to make our meals. Turkey was ok carrots like rubber, roasts pots passble and yorkies could of broke windows. Ate what we could because we knew there wasn't a mackies on the hours trek bck home. If that hadn't ruined our Christmas day enough, all the locals sat around us swearing their heads off and the staff were laying up for breakfast.

A huge "thank you" to all staff at Pen & Parchment, Stratford for making our Christmas Day so enjoyable. We had pre-booked the Christmas Menu and were definitely not disappointed. The atmosphere was superb, the lay-out of the tables was brilliant - not too close to each other, and obviously decorations made the whole thing christmassy! Service was absolutely superb, all staff were extremely polite, willing to help and very customer service orientated - went out of their way to ensure everyone enjoyed the day. The meal itself was fantastic with HUGE portions - far too much for me but I thoroughly enjoyed what I managed to eat and the selection of starters/main/desserts clearly catered for all tastes. Would like to give particular thanks to our server but unfortunately can't recall their name (the card reads something like "lovil" but I'm sure they will recognise the name and I apologise for not being clear). Overall this was a fantastic experience and we're already looking forward to booking again for Christmas day 2024!!!

Booked for Xmas day 75 pound a head . We walked out the food was cold . Old Yorkshire pudding one pig in blanket . I had steak it was like a lump of salty coal very disappointed. We went home starving spoilt our Xmas

I have to start out with a BIG thanks to our bartender and server Carrie-Anne!! Thank you! She gave us great service, advise, and suggestions. My wife and I were not sure about the place but we were very glad we did!! The location, prices and food were great and reasonable! My wife had the roasted lamb shank which was cooked to perfection! The Avocado shrimp cocktail was outstanding and my fried squid/calamari was so light and tasty!! The Pen and parchment also has accomodations. Stop in and visit with Carrie-Anne, Robert and team. Well worth it!!

We have been coming for years and the friendly staff are the pub’s greatest asset. Although it’s often busy, you can always get a table. Food is typically Green King . Nothing fancy but good value, served piping hot with a smile. We noticed the decor was getting tired on our last visit. Some of the seats had stains and exposed stuffing, and it desperately needs a lick of paint. Hopefully, this is in hand because this old pub deserves looking after.

Domitrios and Sean were amazing, excellent hosts, really great banter and meal recommendations. Highly recommend a visit even if popping in for great laughs and a few drinks.

We came for the Victorian market last Sunday but that was a wash out. We stumbled across this pub on the way back to the car so decided to nip in on the off chance of a table, we were greeted by Craig who took us to a nice table in the corner by a radiator to dry. We had 2 coffees and 2 cokes and 4 roast beef, which was lovely, the potato’s were crispy with lots of gravy. We were served by Will who was fantastic. All in all a great visit.

We booked this for dinner after our visit to the Christmas market. Food was good, but service was a little hit and miss. We were directed to our table and told our server would be with us. Well they did not appear, and my step mum-in-law had to go and buy drinks and ask someone to come and serve us. Food was presented in a reasonable time. I do think that there may have been a staffing shortage, but to watch the staff engaged in a conversation behind the bar and not serving did not help. Still it a nice pub, with good British pub grub and good staff.
