Pemberton Arms in Carmarthenshire

Just back from a lovely Sunday Lunch at The Pemberton Arms, there was even a menu for the dog, although as he has no money of his own he was out of luck! Louisa was very polite and helpful, will definitely call again.

Such a friendly pub. Easy to find. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Really lovely food. Reasonable prices too.

Visited for an evening meal after a day out with the kids. Very quiet at around 6pm on a Saturday afternoon with hardly anyone else there. Plenty of parking is available to the rear of the pub. Service was quite fast and pleasant and we didn't have to wait too long for food. The menu selection was quite limited and there were no specials. We all found something that we liked, but personally would have liked a wider selection. Food was however well presented and very tasty. Prices were very slightly higher than I would have expected. Overall pretty happy with it and would consider returning in the future

Just had a lovely meal here. The leek and chicken pie was delicious. Very reasonably priced and very friendly welcome and service. Thank you we will return .

Highly recommend this place. Wonderful welcome. Very personable, happy and chatty bar staff. Our starter and main meal was incredible. The chef, Sarah, is a culinary delight. Her food was outstanding. The best food we’ve had in a very long time. Will be back for another visit 5⭐️

Four of us had dinner here this week. Nice cosy lounge area (dogs are welcome in the bar area). Staff friendly and welcoming. Such a good menu choice it took us ages to decide what to have. We chose Revd James Steak and Ale Pie, Glamorgan Sausages and Mash, Gammon and Penang curry. We couldn't fault any of these meals ...clean plates all round. We persuaded ourselves to have dessert and oh my god these didn't disappoint. The lemon meringue crunch was light and tangy. The rum and raisin cheesecake was out of this world -both were generous portions and there were lots of oohs and aahs. A great meal, reasonably priced, and easy to get to. Would highly recommend this pub if you're in the Burry Port area!

We booked here the previous day. When we arrived we were welcomed and the Sunday roast was very good. an amazing selection of vegatables.

Food was ok, and you didn’t have to wait too long. But the local men sat on stools in the restaurant bar area, who were using the most foul language and vaping, was a real turn off! Little kids with family’s present and their foul mouths was embarrassing. Constant vaping made the air cloudy and wasn’t nice when you’re eating. I understand that the locals keep the pub going during the winter, but honestly, some morals would be good.

Went for Sunday lunch today, 5 adults and 3 dogs. Food was amazing. Came out quick and was hot. Presentation was great, plenty to eat and it was delicious. Will definitely come back.

Disappointed on arrival to be told that the beef was not as it should be, why not explain on the phone when we asked about availability? we left without eating.

My Father's local, my Father passed away and we naturally held his wake there, staff were amazing, buffet type food suitable for all, vegans, veggies and meat eaters wide choice of savoury and sweet, 1st class food home cooked 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

They hosted a 50th birthday celebration meal for 25 of us with short notice. Great pub, great food and very helpful staff.

Lovely venue and staff are lovely. Food looks the part but tastes terrible. We been here twice both for Sunday dinners . Both times meat both the chicken and beef have been inedible. Beef so tough and Grissel running through and chicken very dry. I opted for Glamorgan sausage unlike the rest of party and that was burnt. Such a shame.

What a delightful pub and the food OMG it was more like 5 🌟 restaurant it was cooked to perfection certainly the only time my kids have argued over who's dinner tastes better besides I would have won anyway.

Katsu Curry - Worse curry I have ever had - on par with the worst airplane meal I ever had, and the portion size would not satisfy a small child. A small bowl of sweet liquid with several tiny pieces of Chicken and some frozen peas floating in it. Apple Pie and custard was good though. Never again!

Had a lovely meal and watched the rugby. The food was excellent. The hunters chicken and the pavlova deserve special mention. The host was really attentive and we (and our dog) felt very well looked after. Thank you very much!

We stayed locally to this establishment for a week, we ate here 3 times. Light bites, Sunday roast and steak and chips. Food was beautiful home cooked pub grub. We are fussy when we eat out as we are both foodies....the roast beef on Sunday was melt in your mouth and the steak tonight was quite simply lush, cooked to perfection. Staff and customers warm and welcoming. Alfie our dog was made welcome too with treats and water. Cant reccomend this place enough.

Top notch food and brilliant service for affordable prices. 8 of us dined here with two dogs and a baby and nothing was too much Trouble for the staff. We had to dine in the bar area due to having the dogs but it was lovely. The food was presented well and portion sizes were good. Would recommend to people staying in the area to visit.

We ventured here when the whether was very poor praying they could fit us in. It was a very busy evening and we didn't hold much hope but we were greeted by a big welcoming smile! Food was great and service was second to none. Well worth a visit x

Had a delicious Sunday dinner here at the weekend after leaving somewhere else that had rude staff. The food was delicious, plentiful and hot. I would definitely recommend them. Warm and friendly staff and excellent value for money.

What a lovely gem of a find. The staff are welcoming friendly and very helpful. The food was very nice good size portions and nicely priced and affordable. I will definitely return. There is also vegan choices on the menu along side the normal meats. Thumbs up.

Food you cannot fault been here twice and we now think it’s our new new place to go very friendly staff and owner wants everything to be right so well done to you all you’ve made a very comfortable place to relax and get fantastic food ❤️

We had our belated works Christmas 🎄 doo last nite at the Pem, food was good and couldn't fault the staff friendly and couldn't do enough for us to make the evening special. Lovely pub we will all be back.

Lovely food ,would go again staff were lovely.

Booked here for our anniversary. We arrived and the lady explained the restaurant was full of people watching darts. She said we could sit in a quiet area of the bar which was fine with us. Bar was noisy but it was nice to see a local business that was busy. Food was excellent and we would go again.

Great little restaurant!!! Second time visiting here. The owner is very friendly and is a pleaser!!! Always makes customers feels welcome and is generous with the food. All the meals we have had there have been spot on as well. Very friendly for children as well. Definitely recommend for family visits thank you very much

Ate here a couple of times whilst on holiday in the area. Excellent food and service. Best Sunday roast ever. Very dog friendly.

The staff was extremely unwelcoming and uninspired. The food took about 1 hour to finally be served and was cold when we got it. The ingredients were noticably frozen before. Definitely one of the worst pubs I ever went to.

Service was uninspired (at best). The chicken in the chickenburger was cold, even the Nachos took about 45 minutes until they were served and then the supposedly melted cheese on top was hard….worst Pub food experience in a long time. Cannot recommend.

What a find, on our way back to where we are staying and stumbled across this pub. Sunday lunch on offer, made all of us feel very welcome) even the dogs ! All had the chicken roast and the food was fantastic, would recommend this pub for food.

Really nice staff and my steak was nice. There is a raucous quiz night every Wednesday that is fun.

The bar and restaurant area are beautifully decorated. Friendly service, we were a group of 6 and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Looking forward to going again, thank you.

Food was tasty, but please tell them how you like your burger cooked or it appears well done and chewy. No one asked us how we wanted the burger cooked? so I took it for granted and was surprised how well done it was served. Not nice!

Sunday 27 February 2022. We are staying in the area so the Pemberton Arms became our local for the week. We did our research and the Pemberton Arms had very good reviews so booking a table for Sunday lunch made perfect sense. We took a late slot- 2.30pm, always a gamble when last food orders is 2.45pm. The restaurant area is set out very nicely and once we were sat down the staff were very attentive. We both ordered roast chicken and it arrived beautifully presented with extra vegetables in a dish and a gravy boat. There were at least 7 different vegetables all freshly cooked. The whole chicken breast was of nice quality and very tasty. If there is one thing to criticise we would have preferred the Yorkshire Pudding served without the gravy etc already added to it as it made for a soggy bottom. Reverend James was the perfect pint to go with the meal. My husband also tried the Madri but thought it tasteless. We were too full to even contemplate a dessert. We would definitely recommend this pub for Sunday lunch. Reverend James - £3.60 a pint; half pint Madri - £2.10; Sunday lunch - £9.95 each

Had a lovely evening out with friends. Staff really accommodating and friendly. Didn't have a meal but the food looked good, will try next time

I’m in love! Best STEAK I’ve ever had in a pub. Big, juicy, pink and delicious. I could have had that on its own and die happy. Yes. I love my red meat ;) Lovely staff and good prices. We will return-although it’s more than 1h drive away, well worth the drive for the scenery and the amazing meat. Thank you guys 🤤

Great friendly service but small portion sizes. Popped in on our first day on holiday in Wales as its local to where we're staying. We received a nice warm, friendly welcome and given clear Covid instructions which I was also impressed by. Unfortunately the portion sizes are small. I had the curry 'special' which I have to say was very tasty but expected the little curry bowl to be more than 1/4 full. I didn't expect it to be overflowing either, but it wasn't an adult main portion size. My (adult) daughter's chicken tikka bowl was similarly sparse, my wife's scampi meal could have done with a few more scampi and our son's burger meal was visually lacking with just chips on the size I.e. no salad which costs pennies but makes a plate look so much better. We didn't book Sunday lunch for the next day as a result of the above, but if the owners just tweak the portion sizes up they'll get repeat business and the benefit vs the cost of a decent portion size will be far outweighed.

Stopped off at the Pemberton Arms whilst staying in the area. We had to pre-book due to covid but we were lucky enough to get a table with only 15 minutes notice given. Friendly staff, quiet and reasonably priced.

Very friendly pub with good quality beers and lagers at a very reasonable price. Have to book a place but never had a problem even tho it's on the small side there's a a covered front porch.

Lovely village pub with fantastic food! Sarah and Stu have done an amazing job with the pub it’s such a warm welcoming atmosphere.! Everyone is friendly and the staff can never do enough for you! The new menu is a huge hit with everyone I know! If you are visiting the area or live here and haven’t tried it yet you won’t be disappointed!!!

We dined her on 27th August and were among the first customers to sample the new menu. We both opted for steak and they were cooked perfectly and exactly as ordered. Meals were plentiful and the additional sides we ordered were also delicious and well cooked. The food was also well presented and the service was second to none. Really like the option of ordering drinks by text to avoid queuing at the bar especially while things are slowly getting back to normal post-lockdown. Also liked that we weren’t rushed and could sit and enjoy some drinks after our meal instead of being limited to a specified time slot.

Great outdoor set up at the Pemberton Arms. Lots of well spaced tables and parasols and a great table text service that is easy to use and very quick. The staff are really welcoming and even our two dogs were well looked after with treats and fresh cool water which they very much appreciated. I would recommend the Pemberton Arms to all couples, families and people of all ages as the welcome and safe set up is second to none.

Thank goodness for the lovely new owners at this pub!!!!Breathing new life and Gin Cocktails or anything that you prefer ....Visited briefly passing by but refreshingly surprised at the vigour and keen attitudes of these hard working owners.The locals clearly struggle with change of any sort!!!! So keep up the excellent work; best of luck with the Sunday lunches too :)

Decent bar and reasonable prices

Excellent service, food was well presented and delicious.

Visited with my husband and mother today for Sunday lunch. It was our first visit since it has reopened and we had a very warm welcome. The meal was excellent. Choice of beef or turkey as the meat options and Glamorgan sausages for the vegetarians. We all had beef dinners and thoroughly enjoyed them. The beef and veg were plentiful and we could have cut through the meat with a spoon. The roasts were nice and crisp and the home made Yorkshire puddings were huge. We will definitely be returning and are also looking forward to March when they will be serving meals from Wednesday to Sunday. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area. They had a very tempting offer of 10% off certain drinks during the six nations and have warm snacks available for half time and on the basis of today’s meal I’m sure they won’t be disappointing so I’ll definitely be popping in to give it a try.

First class welcome, service and food!!! We dropped into the Pemberton without having booked and they kindly fitted us in and made us feel really welcome. The Sunday lunch menu was great and you could choose how many courses you wanted without any pressure. There was an excellent choice of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and ice was readily provided. The meal itself was excellent, lovely and tasty, cooked well and a lovely presentation on the plates. There was extra gravy provided and any sauce needs were well catered for too. We all enjoyed our meals and the provision of four types of vegetables and very good portion sizes meant dessert will have to wait till next time! We would recommend the Pemberton for couples, families and all ages. The welcome was outstanding as was the service and we can’t wait to visit again and to when they introduce their week day meals service in a few weeks time.

Yesterday we had my sons 18th birthday at the pemberton, 27 of us. Sarah was very helpful, we called up in the afternoon to ‘decorate’ ready for the party, the room is lovely and perfect for the group size. We had a choice of meals which everyone was very complimentary about. Thank you pemberton , the whole evening went very smoothly and we will definitely be coming back here.
