Looks like this place has changed hands, different girl answered the phone, didn't speak any English, really struggled to make her understand, food was absolutely disgusting, nothing like usual. Such a shame ,really loved this place.

Awful. Have ordered for years with no issue, always brilliant. Ordered for the family just a few days ago and it had to be the worst takeaway ever. We ordered King Po king prawns, egg fried rice, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls and plain chow mein. The Kung Po prawns contained huge chunks of chicken as well as prawns. The person ordering doesn’t eat meat, hasn't done for years, a pescatarian. How you serve massive pieces of chicken in a fish dish I don’t know. The egg fried rice? Where’s the egg? None, and I mean none. Just brown, extremely greasy fried rice with zero flavour. Sweet and sour chicken balls were coated in a spongy chewy batter that was vile. Plain chow mein with enormous chunks of veg, literally almost half a spring onion in the bottom and massive prices of onion impossible to eat. Incorrect prawn dish was returned to Peking house. Apologies from girl on reception, not so much from other staff. Two dishes replaced but I’m all honesty, they weren’t much better. Totally tasteless and greasy. Apparently there’s a new chef. The old one has left for Scotland. I’m a qualified chef and although I’ve never trained in oriental cookery, I wouldn’t serve what we were given to my pets. Just don’t bother.

We have patronised this Chinese for decades. The food was always brilliant, fresh and really tasty. Having not been for a little while for no reason we were in a position of not having time to cook a few days ago so my husband went to Peking house and ordered for the family. Big mistake. We ordered the usual Kung Po king prawns, egg fried rice, plain chow mein, chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken balls. Where to begin? Firstly the person ordering a prawn dish does not eat meat, hasn’t for many years, a pescatarian. The dish contained huge chunks of chicken as well as prawns. The ‘egg’ fried rice?? Where’s the egg?! I found one piece the size of a pin head in two large containers. The rice was brown, extremely greasy and just, well, fried plain cooked rice with zero flavour. The chow mein had huge pieces of uncut spring onion, literally half a one in there not cut up and really crude huge pieces of onion and was pretty inedible as a result unless you fancy cutting it up. The sweet and sour balls were covered in the most awful spongy batter that was just disgusting. They went straight in the bin. I’m a highly qualified chef and quite frankly I wouldn’t serve this pitiful attempt at food to anyone. My husband went back with the prawn Kung po and the accompanying rice which was stone cold anyway to complain that the main dish had chicken in it and was awful. Although the lady on the till was apologetic, the others weren’t. The owners stated that the takeaway had now changed hands and there was a new chef. They replaced the dishes but to be honest, the new dishes although were correct weren’t much better. No flavour. Terribly greasy. No fresh ingredients. Poor quality. Customer service dreadful. Just don’t waste your money.

We have ordered from Peking house for years now and we are never disappointed. The food is always made to a great standard and is always hot on delivery. We always recommend this place 👌🏻

Ordered chicken with curry sauce, very little chicken, mainly batter, rice overcooked, chips were the only redeeming part of the order. This takeaway used to be very good but definitely wont use it again.

Good choice and quality. Bought a guest a takeaway today they were very pleased. Will call again.

I have been ordering from here for the last 3+ years. The food is lovely. I have prawn toast, special rice, ribs in syrup and salt and pepper chips. I cant fault any of the food I have had over the years it has always been cooked well and delivered in good time. After my local Chinese shut down, I tried at least 7 different Chinese takeaways before I finally found these.

It’s our go to Chinese take away always, disappointing tonight, ordered bbq spare ribs and received curry spare ribs which isn’t even on the menu, not their usual service, my son rang up to tell them, he went back to pick up correct order and the boss charged him….you miserable lot, we are regulars and the young lady got it wrong…shame on you…we’ll try somewhere else! Btw I hope you pay your staff above the going rate !!

Just had our first meal from here..we were well impressed.. quality and portion size were excellent..nice and hot and quick delivery time..we will be using this place from now on

One again I have wasted my money at this place. The food is repugnant! I will not waste a penny more of my money here. There is no effort whatsoever to provide customers with a tasty authentic meal. If you know good food and your pallet extends beyond a quick frozen meal at Iceland pre-packed standard, you will be hideously disappointed with this overpriced abysmal quality of food. The Salt and Pepper king prawns are warmed up frozen produce with barley cooked chillies and onions slapped in the bottom of the tray, no flavour just a lasting taste of excessive amounts of salt. The rice is clearly basic pre cooked boiled rice with surface level seasoning that may as well be out of a packet. The mixed balls are burnt, greasy and not mixed at all - a ratio of 2.10 but FULL PRICE never the less! I’m too angry to go into detail any further about the food but let me tell you I wouldn't feed this to my dog, let alone my family and i’m sure they wouldn’t feed it to theirs either! This is the realist review out of the lot! I’ve been ordering from here on and off for a few years, always hoping to get something different due to wanting a tasty meal and being limited to what is on offer in my area. Awful, just awful and in the current climate where people are struggling for money, you’d expect some kind of effort on the working mans behalf. These people just want your money. No craps are given about the standard and quality of the meal. I know others who feel the same about this place but are too kind to complain. Sincerely, An unhappy human who could have put there money to better use.

It may not look much but fast friendly service and reliably high quality food make this my go-to Chinese takeaway and for me it's one of Derby's best. Good choice of Tofu dishes for Vegans/Veggies beyond the usual 'Mixed Veg' offerings and quality of meat be it Chicken, Pork, Beef or Duck is succulent and tender. Excellent allergy labelling on menu too. Kung Po Pork, Spare Ribs in Honey Sauce, Sweet & Sour Tofu Hong Kong style, (proper Chinese Chippy style) Chips, Plain Boiled Rice and 10 Mini Veg Spring Rolls for £25. Came with free Prawn Crackers and 5 Mini Veg Spring Rolls (which they had the honesty to point out when I ordered more).

Excellent food delivery is reasonable quick depending on how busy they are and the distance that they have to go to 😃

Had bbq spare ribs+ large egg fried rice, my partner who is vegetarian was unsure what to have,they prepared a dish for her ,she said it was lovely as was mine,can't fault this takeaway give it a go I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Peking House was our Saturday evening takeaway choice, phoned the order in from the large menu choices, told 40 mins, arrived in 15 Hurrah! Good portions of tasty Chinese food, Kung Po Chicken great, free items included, well worth a norder.

We coukd only taste salt an sugar in the food, beef curry was all jelly like it had been warmed up and soon as we asked for a refund they wanted the food back 🤢🤮 deffinetly to re sell, talk about corona virus 🦠 won’t ever be going there again.

The special chow won was great, as was the prawn toast but the prawn curry lacked any currry flavour, it was like a cheap ready mixed paste with hot water and extra gluten to make it thicker! Prawns nice but sauce no! never again

Its an easily missed Chinese takeaway in Spondon, easy free parking available, standard takeaway choices of Chinese food, i had kung po chicken and received wityhin a few minutes of arriving and ordering, good food, good prices fast service.

Best Chinese takeaway in Derby in my opinion.

Just had an excellent meal from Peking House, Spondon. We ordered a delivery at 5.40pm, told it would be about 45 mins and it arrived by 6.30pm. Food was excellent and hot, ribs in syrup were yummy. Very good, will use again. Thank you.

Fantastic delicious food, very friendly staff and very quick service. I have never had any problems and always been a great service and great food! Well done to staff and chefs and keep it up. I always will recommend as it is the best around!

Food was lovely but waited 20 minutes for our order that was already ready! We said our name when we arrived but because we didn't say telephone order we weren't given our order. Complete waste of time!

Best in the Area. (Breadsall/Chadd/Spondon) Good flavour, don't skimp on sauces, good portions, best value. Ribs meaty. They are EXTREMELY busy (there's a reason why). We walked in and waited for a set meal for 3. 30 min. If you want good food, be patient, you'll not he dissatisfied.

Always order from here, last time I ordered it took over 1hr and 15 mins to get to us and was cold on arrival! After multiple calls to the driver, trying to direct him and to the take-away they agreed they'd give us either a free dish or discount. Just rang as I thought I'd give them another go.. free delivery is the best they're willing to do! JOKE!! Then tried to say that no one had mentioned it to the boss, even though the guy I spoke to was telling the boss what was happening when I originally complained. You've lost a lot of customers, just from the people I know! I'm never recommending you to anyone. Absolute joke!

Used to enjoy the food from here,not the best I've had but still tasty . A recent incident has put me off completely after being told I could have a replacement chow mein when I'd made a complaint on finding a piece of coiled metal (the type found on metal scouring pads) no reassurance was made to me about investigating this incident. In my opinion bad customer service skills.
