Peking Chef Chinese Restaurant in North Ayrshire

We have used peking chef a few times in the past as its not to far from us so more convenient than anything but after the last few takaways I think we will be the last.Its never been the best place for Chinese food but was usually ok and a few times we even found the food to be excellent but the last few times and been constantly poor from watery sauce in the chicken saty and peking spare ribs that were inedible as the were closer to charcoal than ribs dont know if its different chef's on different nights but you never know what you are going to get.My advice is vist one of the other takeaway places in irvine as there is better choices about and for a lot cheaper but if you still insist on trying peking chef I suggest picking up the order or make sure you place it 2 hours prior to wanting to eat as we have never had a delivery in less than that.

This was the first time ordering from here for more than 2 years as last time it was awful.We were pleasantly surprised as the portions were double the size and everything was piping hot and tastied delicious.We ordered salt and pepper chicken, fried rice, chips and curry sauce.The curry was very spicy, not the way it used to be but still nice.Highly recommend!

The chicken spring rolls are the worst thing I think I have ever tasted, filled with a white gel, 2 bits of chicken and a few bits of grated carrot, not what I was expecting, tasteless, horrible texture, no beansprouts or vegetables just disgusting.Chicken fried rice was a handful of horrible textured chicken on top of rice, no ham, no peas, nothing, tasteless and chicken had the strangest texture and no flavour, just terrible and order was £14!!! Total waste.

one of the best chinese meals i have ever had. highlights were hot and sour soup, chicken in black bean sauce and the spicy chicken noodles. service was quick and friendly, portions were really good and food was fresh, hot and very tasty. my 3rd favourite chinese restaurant in the entire world, 1st in scotland! super job!

Very central i Irvine and pretty good food. I enjoyed it. I'd happily go back if I am in Irvine again.

Literally just had supposed to be chicken noodle soup and it was just hot water and noodles There was absalute no taste to this soup and I wouldn’t even call it soup.Also had chicken sweet and sour and it was editable although had a sticky taste to it Don’t think I’ll ever be back here

Okay big portions good average. They did not have basics such as salad cream! Service was okay but I would not choose to go again.

I have returned a number of times for their muscles in black bean sauce!!! Yum. The rest of the menu/food is decent and good value. Good place to go for good value food. This is not ‘special’ place as such but, as I said, decent food at a good price. Friendly staff and food came out in a very good time.

Been coming to Scotland on our hols every year and always make a point of eating at this restaurant. Great staff and superb food at a very good price.

Had great table service from very attentive staff. The food was hot, everyone's food was delivered at the same time. And the food was Delicious. My hubbie is very particular, he had Beef and Green Pepper in Black Bean sauce, and said he would definitely be back! Which is Great because I'll have to take him he cant drive.

I have ordered from Peking Chef for many years and have never had any problems with the food or with my order. However last night, I decided to order a meal of chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls and curry sauce for me and my Dad to split. I ordered the meal at 19:33 for delivery at 21:10 which was accepted by the restaurant. We were disappointed that despite this, the meal STILL managed to arrive 10 minutes late. The food was freezing cold, not one part of the meal was warm at all. The sweet and sour chicken came without any sweet and sour sauce and the rice despite having ordered boiled was egg fried rice which could not be eaten. The chicken chow mein was a mess of dried noodles and veg that had literally been ‘sat’ on top. I rang the restaurant immediately within 10 minutes of receiving it as I was completely appalled, the lady on the phone was incredibly rude and impolite suggesting that I “reheat the meal”. The only solution she offered was to send out a portion of sweet and sour sauce which when it arrived was also freezing cold. When asked for a refund, I was told that I could not be given a refund due to the fact I had not called the restaurant within 2 hours of receiving the meal. Complete lies. Any restaurant capable of bare faced lies such as this could not be said to be purveying good, honest food. I would never eat here again due to this horrendous experience and would sway all friends/family from eating here as well.

I have used peking chef many times in the past and have rarely had an issue . However tonight I ordered a meal as I finished work and had requested it to be delivered at half 8 . Now I know it will never come bang on time it will always come a little early or late which was why I had requested the delivery time. To then have a phone call informing me it is going to be delivered an hour and a half early is just a little bit much to then have it offered to be delivered at half 8 by then it would be cold is a little dissapointing.

I ordered a chicken and sweetcorn soup and shared a peking beef with rice on Saturday with my partner. I was up all night being sick within 3 hours of eating it. Disgusting will not be ordering from here again

We have been using this Chinese restaurant for a few years now and always rated it as one of the best around. Having used the restaurant a few times this year each meal we've had has been nothing to write home about. The portions are certainly getting smaller the taste of the meals have been average and the staff have changed many times over the last few months. Think it's time for finding a new Chinese takeaway

Used to pop in here but thought we’d return. Prawn crackers were free which was nice as more and more restaurants are charging for this and popadoms etc.

I was back in irvine visiting family and decided to have a takeaway night. phoned here at 7pm and was told 40/45 mins delivery, called back at 8pm to be told our meal was on its way, after another 30 mins wait we called back and cancelled the order, they were so rude, telling us we should just wait as after all they did have other deliveries.. no apology for the wait.. needless to say id never order from there again.. avoid at all costs, they dont care about there customers

Went for an ealy dinner with family. I had a steak - sizzling - though it came to the table on a plate - not iron. I could not chew it - so tough - I had to leave it. Rice frozen. Others food was also cold. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After an hour and a half for my delivery have to say it's one of the worst Chinese meals I have ever had... nearly cold food (hmmm not at all dangerous with rice guys), greasy, too salty and one that's already giving me brutal heartburn. Seriously if you can't cope with the amount of deliveries you have on a Tuesday night then don't take them. Definetly a place that seems to prefer quantity of business over quality of product. First Chinese I've had in months and wish I hadn't bothered . Just awful!!!

No habíamos estado aquí por un tiempo, pero el menú parece haber sido actualizada, así que decidimos probarlo. Me sentí un poco ridículo pedir 'maravilloso pollo" pero me alegro de haberlo hecho, era realmente agradable, no demasiado tomate y encantadora y peanutty

Simplemente delicioso y todo recién hecho no se calienta y también, si les pide un curry muy suave, suave es lo que obtienes. También tenía la Cena de Navidad aquí Día de Navidad 2016 y mi familia eligió el buen funciona mucho el pavo, coles y era sencillamente deliciosos. He pedido durante la semana así y no tengo nada malo que decir sobre ellos, pero si pides en el fin debe estar preparado para esperar un poco más para su pedido de Tarifa realmente.

food is awful now, ordered a chicken curry and it burnt my mouth it was so hot, used to be one of my favorite chinese restaurant but has changed since being bought over, dont think ill be back!

Never fails to impress us. Have had many deliveries and visited the restaurant a handful of times. Food is delicious. Presented well and the staff are very helpful

Desde aquí, ordenados previamente las patatas fritas eran pasada y sin sabor, curry era insípida, decidí probarlo de nuevo.

Waited over an hour for soggy salt and chilli chips. Also came with some sort of meat through it, looked like small bits of beef - disgusting to me as I am vegetarian. My friends food was cold and she found a hair in it. WONT BE BACK EVER AGAIN

We have been to this Chinese on numerous occasions for their lunch & dinner meals. We've always had a delicious meal with quick service & friendly staff. The only negative I have is i feel the price of their soft drinks are expensive

Really no impressed ...usually a fav of mine the peking chef...eating in or taking away.....new chef?? Dont know but wont be ordering a takeaway again !!

Great choice of starters, appetisers and main courses.Large portions.Friendly & helpful staff, prompt service.Reasonably priced

You will enjoy this place it has been in Irvine forever and the food has always been really good. My wife and I used to visit when we were first going out with each other so we have a fondness for this lovely wee place it never disappoints with its friendliness and food and it has a good take away service too.

The Peking chef is the best Chinese in town . I haven't ate in but always half take away and always good . I would recommend here . Prices are good aswell . So we have this every week at least . I'm fussy with chicken and this is the best .

Ate here a few years ago, and decided to revisit. Definitely not as memorable. Don't know if it's under different management, but food and service was a miles apart. Meals were mediocre, and service was embarrassing. Waitress missed the table completely and dropped my fried rice on the floor..... I've had better meals in their takeaway!!!

Food and service so much better now. They have had the chairs and restaurant cleaned and I presume other areas too. We go here because they make you welcome and service is quick.

Ordered food at 18:55 it is now 2 hours since order and it's only just arrived at 9:00pm!! Repeatedly tried to phone but phone constantly engaged. Will never order again!!

Phoned for a delivery at 9.06 tonight its now 10.40 still not recieved phoned the shop 4 times on its way apparently absolute joke ave ordered from there regulary not any more disgrace

I had a lazy night being in my own I decided to go for a take away delivered I ordered thay prawn curryIt arrived in ca 45 minutes but the food was just warm and the prawn where bit chewieSo I think they can really improve the delivery service The delivery guy was in a bit of a hurry not that I wanted to invite himFor tea but a enjoy and thank you would have being nice

The small-ish petite girl with dark hair tied back, serving us on Saturday night is not an asset to this company. She is a bad server and should be fired because there must be other young girls wanting a job in Irvine who will do this with a conscience. She took our orders (including bottle of wine and waters). then nothing. For ages. How long can it take to get two tap waters and a bottle 20feet across a room? So the bad feeling had started all ready. When the starters came, the drinks came after them. Then the glasses were thick with old lipstick dirt on them. The petite young server then gathered with her mate round the corner next to our table and started a back-biting session about a colleague, within our earshot. When the mains came from the kitchen, the Chinese girl realised she couldn't get them in front of us because no-one had bothered to come over and clear our dirty plates and cutlery away. She did a weird juggling act to put the mains down, clear the plates, then slot the mains in. By now the new servers were visibly embarrassed and apologising. At the end, it took forever for a server to get the bill, then yet another long gap of nothingness. People at a table next to us asked after us but got theirs long before us. (They were known to the servers.) The food was nice, but just OK bland nice. By far not the most exciting Chinese food we've ever had. We won't talk about that meal ever again. And one of my beef strips was inedible - you don't get that many so it makes a difference and the kitchen should have noticed that. I wanted to tip nothing because I don't want that petite server to get any of my money, but we decided to give 50p for the others who were a bit embarrassed and tried a bit to win us back. Won't ever be going back. It's not worth putting your coat and shoes on for. There are much better Chinese places around there.

My wife and I use this restaurant on a regular basis because we enjoy the ambience, the staff and of course the food! As one would expect the restaurant has an extensive menu too large to print here. Whatever you order will be of the highest quality.p

Placed order 1.5hrs later phoned, apparently very busy, phoned back 45 min later, it's a new driver. Cancelled order, 20min later good arrived, sent away again, awful service, no excuse for that a all, never an apology.

We ordered 2 chow meins and was given the wrong order! While waiting 2 other customers orders were wrong! Terrible customer service and don't think we will be back. Shame as the chow meins were lovely

I am fed up with this "Restaurant" making a mess of things that I thought I needed to write a review based on my own experience. We normally order from here but not anymore, 3 times they have messed up our order for delivery - and when we bring this up with them... they say, sorry, you didn't order that! They called myself & wife a liar tonight then continued to want to argue down the phone with me. I said that I am not going to argue with you, we will just not use you again, he still tried to go on. The food is " ok " if you actually get what you ordered... if not, then good luck attempting to resolve the situation with the restaurant.

The food is good, I have been here a couple of times and had takeaways. I have no complaints about the food but the takeaway menu is more expensive than most other chinese in the town and the drinks inside are expensive

My husband and I were walking past this restaurant and decided to go in for lunch, normally we wouldn't go into a restaurant that was not busy but my husband who has diabetes was starting to feel a little shaky, so we went in for the business lunch. My husband likes spicy so he had the morning glory chicken and I had chicken chow mein then banana fitter. We were delighted with the food, the quality and service, 10/10 for this restaurant and will definitely go back.
