Peking Chef in Scarborough

Shocking behaviour, walked in New Years Eve, looked at menu, man barked at us’you want to order’ we said yes to which he looked harassed and said ‘it will be at least half an hour’ we said ok, he then kept saying aggressively ‘what do you want’ . REALLY?? If you don’t want customers don’t open the door. Rude, rude, rude!!

Picked up a Cantonese style sweet and sour and the chicken was overcooked and hard and was inedible. The lemon chicken was the same and very little lemon sauce. Very disappointed as i have been there before and the food was lovely.

We go here at least a couple of times per month.a little disappointed in them charging extra for chips and rice when it was included in the price . But the quality is ok and all the family enjoy it .

I only had Chicken chow mein, but it was a good Chicken chow mein. Ready very quickly, the guy serving was friendly. Yeah if you want Chinese food, id suggest this place 😊

Had a take away there yesterday. Incredibly busy which might explain why food was disappointing. We ordered mixed starter and realised when we got home that we had just got ribs and satay chicken, no prawn toast, spring rolls or won tons. Food was very salty, sauces were too gloopy, duck a little overcooked. Portion sizes were good but overall a little disappointing. Perhaps down to the volume of people queuing for food. Shame as the place has been recommended. Only takes cash.

I've been to other Chinese takeaways in Scarborough, you have to give them a try, but Peking Chef has never disappointed in over 10 years or so. I have come to the decision that even though I could visit a Chinese takeaway closer to where I live it just is not the same as the Peking Chef. Faultless service, never got an order wrong, always top quality food and servings are full size. Can't fault the place in any way.

Good food, slightly expensive but best in the area so you pay the premium

I have had takeaway is from this place several times before but tonight was undoubtedly the worst ever . I ordered crispy chilli beef , Singapore noodles and salt and pepper ribs , the ribs had hardly any flavour , The rice which came with my dish was so sticky and glutinous when I tipped it out it retained the shape of the container and was in one massive blob ! the chilli beef was nice enough but swimming in very watery sticky sauce , but worst of all was the Singapore noodles which I have had before (and really enjoyed )this time it was a container full of bright yellow what looked like vermicelli or Angel hair pasta nothing like the Singapore noodles I’ve had before , with nothing of the flavour or texture, I was so disappointed I rang the takeaway but they just weren’t interested and told me that that was what Singapore noodles were always like , but as a customer I know that they weren’t , I felt I was getting nowhere so terminated the call . I definitely feel that the standards at this takeaway have dropped massively over the last few years , they also only take cash which I always feel is somewhat dodgy !!

Absolutely gutted !! I went here over a year ago and thought it was borderline back then. Knowing that things can change of time, I went again tonight and I can't believe the can still make a meal so tasteless. Peking Chef, please take this advice and change your curry sauce to something with taste. We had chicken curry, noodles and char sui foo yung. The curry sauce really is shabby. Just a tasteless and salty. It's such a shame but if there were to simply taste what they were cooking, it wouldn't left the place. Have pride in your work. Really disappointed and will definitely not revisit.

Only started ordering here about a year ago as we weren’t enjoying our regular place anymore and was recommended Peking chef, we’ve never had any issues orders are always correct and very fairly priced the food is lovely too and very friendly staff would definitely recommend

Sadly this is the worst Chinese we have ever had. The pork dish had NO pork in it, the spring roll was slimy and tasted off & the sauces were watery and tasteless. Such a shame as used to be good.

Friendly staff lovely food generous portions

Bought 5 meals off them tonight. The food was almost inedible, the quality was very poor, meat full of grissle, duck just lumps of fat. There must be better Chinese takeaways in Scarborough.

Ate from here a couple of times and the food is normally brilliant can't fault it. but last night we ordered and the food could only be described as rancid horrible vinegar smell to the satay chicken starter, which I didn't dare eat. Beef was very bland and rice was only just warm, disappointed not sure if I will eat here again

This has been our favourite Chinese Takeaway in Scarborough for years, but after the meal we had on 8th December we will not be going again.. we always have spare ribs .. which are normally beautiful and meaty, but we could not eat the 2 portions that were served as they were horrible ... mostly fat and bone. Apparently it has new owners!

Used to be good, but last 2 visits food was awful

They have quick service and you can call ahead for takeout. It's nice that they offer rice on the side for free, but it isn't fluffy and becomes hard to chew after awhile. Moreover, the food tastes watered down and has little to no flavour at all.

Awful - just had two chicken dishes . The chicken was so wet and flakey. Boiled in water , notdone in wok . Was flavourless. Worried it was only just cooked. Defo won't ever go back. Just hope food poisoning doesn't kick in. Can't say what any red meat dishes are like but in general the meal was flavourless . There's far better in Scarborough.

Yummy good food at the Chinese shop and I was waching them cooking my food to take home and thay are rilly good cookers and good wok maker and yummy banna friters

Absolutely disgusting! Went in to order food they took the order, food came quickly. Took it home and I don't have what I've ordered. I called seen as I was far away from the takeout to explain the situation to which I got a response of 'what you want me to do about it? It wasn't writen down' so somehow that's my fault, they didn't want to help or rectify the situation. Basically said I'd have to get in the car and drive all the way back down because they can't write an order correctly. Fuming! Never going there again!
