Peggy Berry's Deja Vu in Lewes

Went here with my mum and my 11 month old boy for lunch. First time going after hearing good things and my mum had been a while ago. My mum had said the owners have changed. Food was bland. Jacket potato was swimming in butter making it greasy. The filling of chicken and bacon was shop bought therefore tasted of absolutely nothing. Nice area for kiddies but that's as good as it gets unfortunately. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

I've been told you need to call well in advance to query for a party. So I did. I called on 7th October and the man who answer the phone IT was not interested whatsoever and his first reply was. "I don't know as it is too soon to enquiry for a birthday next year." When I told it was for 30 children and I wanted to close the cafe for the birthday party he was very quickly to answer my questions." Rude, not interested, worse customer services from a "child friendly" I've ever had. If I could give 0 stars I would. So not impressed.

When I visited Deja Vu a few months ago I loved it! The chocolate cake was rich and creamy and the hot chocolates were thick and delicious!It was one of the best cake shops I had ever been to. But I don't know what happened- a few days ago I visited it and the really nice ladies weren't there anymore, there was a man that wasn't helpful at all I chose a Victoria sponge cake out of the two unpleasant options there were- it was dry and gross...! Ughhh...I think this place is terrible and unfriendly- do not go there.

Don't get me wrong this place is alright for a coffee and you can take you dog in but I recently had a salt beef sandwich here and the absence of salt beef in the sandwich was staggering, if your not getting good portions then why should you go back.

Fuimos aquí esta mañana para desayunar teníamos caminamos nuestro perro a lo largo de la playa y estábamos listos rge desayuno. Vimos este amd nos dimos cuenta de que era apropiado, como había mesas de picnic fuera en la sombra. Al instante nos ofrecía agua para el perro. El desayuno era muy bueno, muy bien y rápidamente preparado. Muy razonable £12 por 2 desayunos con té. Supongo que la única crítica y no es realmente una crítica es que nos hubiera pagado un poco más por una salchicha ligeramente mejor.

Mi hijo y yo llevamos a mi nieta de 3 años aquí por primera vez esta mañana. Había leído sobre las sesiones de artesanía se celebra aquí los lunes, miércoles y viernes por la mañana. Llegamos justo después de las 10 de la mañana y ya había una cola de 3 niños delante de nosotros esperando para crear sus lienzos unicorn. Mientras esperábamos nos tomamos unas copas y 2 enormes losas de deliciosos pasteles de chocolate. A mi nieta le encantaron sus biscochos lácteos gratis. Los niños también reciben tostadas y zumo incluido en el costo de la elaboración de artesanía (5 libras. 00). La señora haciendo la artesanía es absolutamente preciosa y muy paciente. (mi nieta no era demasiado entusiasta para tener sus pies pintadas con pintura para comenzar con pad, pero ella pronto relajado con la promesa de una insignia y una piruleta) El artículo acabado es precioso. Gracias por presentar tan especial Cafe. Todo el personal era muy agradable. En el momento en que la izquierda en 11. 00, la amplia cafetería estaba lleno a capacidad. Obviamente, un lugar muy popular y con buena razón. No puedo esperar a volver. !

Visited deja vu, just before Christmas with my grand daughters. We made Christmas plates and a Disney princess visited all rather children. Food was lovely and reasonably priced and the staff were lovely

Visited for a catch up with an old friend, we were served by the owner who was extremely friendly and more than happy to give recommendations. The atmosphere was lovely, staff were polite and happy, and the milkshakes were divine! Will definitely be visiting again!

We have popped in on several occasions for coffee here which is very good and have also sampled some of their delicious homemade cake which we can recommend(slightly larger slices would be nice though as I do love my cake(see my reviewer name!!)) we came once though with my little 2 year old granddaughter and this cafe caters beautifully for young children.There are ice cream coloured tables and chairs and a great childrens play corner with toy cookers and play food to keep them amused while you enjoy your coffee etc.Once she overcame her initial shyness our granddaughter joined in with the other children there and had such a lovely time she didnt want to leave.The last time we visited there was a good size childrens party in full swing complete with dressed up adult entertainers as princesses Elsa and Ana singing and entertaining the young guests.It all looked very exciting and fun and we may well do a party there ourselves soon. Definitely a good place to visit!

I visit this establishment on a regular basis because they are so friendly and the food is good. I have had their jacket potatoes and what ever you do don't miss the delicious carrot cake. All cakes are home-made and amazing. Definitely a place to head for when in the area.

I love this cafe. Delicious cakes, yummy milkshakes and a wonderful afternoon tea! The owner is also lovely and so friendly! Love the children's play area at the back, so handy for when you have little ones who get so bored sitting in a highchair. Will definitely make this a weekly visit ❤️

My husband and I have been here many times, the Jacket Potatoes and salad are heavenly, Alan is not a Potatoe man but really enjoys the ones here. They cater for children, so we have also been there with I Granddaughter where she played happily with the toys and then ate her special meal, made for her. You must try can totally recommend it.

Tasty cakes , clean establishment , staff got on nerves tho very plastic and don't leave you alone , there is good service and being a pain in the back side .

I've been in here plenty of times now with various friends and always have a nice time. It's very pretty and the food is good, I recommend the carrot cake (in fact all the cakes are yummy). Really pretty décor and I absolutely love the vintage teapots and cups. You must like kids if you come here though because invariably there are lots of toddlers and babies in here. I only wish the place had been open when my kids were little because the place is really set up for little ones. I like the look of the smoothies but a bit on the expensive side for me, heard good reports though.

Had a really nice Panini here, very clean and tidy with family friendly service, highchairs available and children's meals

Had my daughter's 5th frozen themed birthday party here and it was the most magical and amazing party. From start to finish the staff were so helpful and friendly and took care of everything, I really couldn't have asked for anymore. Food was great and the drinks for adults were fab too. Cannot recommend highly enough. You won't be disappointed!!

Visited mid-week for lunch and there were only 6 diners including ourselves and 3 members of staff. We parked in the free car park opposite and dashed across a very busy South Coast Road. We were given menus promptly and our orders taken - we opted for toasted sandwiches, which were not bad. The decor is pastels which may appeal to young girls, but my male partner felt a bit out of place.The food and drinks arrived fairly promptly then our waitress donned her coat and said she was off to the bank. She hadn't arrived back 10 minutes later and we fancied trying some cake. We had to approach the counter - surely with 6 customers and 3 staff they could have cleared the table and tried to offer us cake? They had a good selection of cakes which were fresh. Our waitress still hadn't arrived back when we left. The lunch was good value, but service could be brisker. One of the other waitresses (possibly the owner) had sat down at the next table to eat her lunch which was odd.We would visit again for lunch.

Great decoration, tables & chairs painted in gentle pastel colours. Very friendly service, food well presented, we had toasted sandwiches which were hot and fresh served with a side salad. Our granddaughter had a jam sandwich again served with crisps also ice cream and drink. We could not resist the milkshakes or a slice of lemon cake. Children & toddlers are welcomed here as well. A little expensive but well worth it, can't wait to go again.

The pretty colours of this venue draws one in...and for once you are not dissapointed. Friendly faces and great service in this small but beautifully decorated place (the tables & chairs are all painted in gorgeous pale pastel colours) were first class. The toasted panini (with side salad - I ordered was crisp & hot and the chocolate milk shake very cold...the perfect combination for a hot summers day!) I would loved to have sampled some of the delicious-looking home-made cakes etc...but as we were dining out later that evening we had to give all the other lovely food a miss. But I bet they were as good as they looked.
